Disgraced Lords #7
Duchess Rose Deverill survived her marriage to the Duke of Roxborough and was determined never to remarry...until she was reunited with the Earl of Cumberland, Philip Flagstaff....her teenage crush.
Philip is also anti-marriage after his brother Robert followed him to Waterloo to protect him, only to die himself.
But the fates have something else in mind. After they break off the relationship, Philip realizes he can't live without her.....after attempts on both her son Drake's and her own life.
Steamy and sweet at the same time, this is a wonderful historical romp. Loved it!
I requested and received an ARC from NetGalley.

Bronwen Evans has written another outstanding book! After reading her book you think she cannot get any better. Then you read the next book and you think she did it again. This book far outshines the last. When reading her books you feel as if you are there with the characters experiencing everything as they are. Rose and Philip come to life while reading. They are so believable. You are right there with all there struggles. Bronwen keep up your awesome work. Looking forward to your next book.

I've just gotten back from a little trip to England to visit my old friends from The Ton, you know, the Libertine Scholars, and do I have some juicy gossip to share. It seems Philip Flagstaff, the Earl of Cumberland, has been having an affair with Her Grace, Lady Rose Deverill, the Wicked Widow. It's a perfect arrangement because neither one is interested in matrimony. Rose had a terrible first marriage, forced to marry an older man who was, shall I say, not very considerate of her "needs". The only good thing that came from the relationship was her son, Drake. Of course, she did inherit the estate (her father wasn't a total fool when handing her over to a distasteful elderly husband) and her son will be the Duke of Roxborough when he reaches his majority. In the meantime The Marquis of Kirkwood is his guardian, watching out for his interests. Luckily, the kind man has pretty much stayed out of her business, but she expects he soon will be making some demands. After all, it's no secret that Philip was seen dancing with the current popular debutant and ignoring her at the latest fete. If their affair is truly over, Kirkwood might think it time for her to settle down, especially since she's only twenty six and still lovely.

It's not that she and Philip don't get along, they do very well in the boudoir together, more than okay. It's just that Philip is still grieving for his brother, Robert, who sacrificed his life at the Battle of Waterloo in order to protect his "little brother". It's Philip's fault that Robert is dead so he doesn't feel he's entitled to the title he inherited. Philip has been a screwup all his life and he doesn't believe he's deserves any happiness, especially not with the beautiful and charming Rose. No, marriage is out, not to Rose, not to anyone. Let the succession line fall to his younger brother, a clone of Robert and more worthy of the honor.

Unfortunately, Philips sister, Lady Portia (remember how she was kidnapped and sold to a sultan's harem in Alexandria, rescued in the nick of time by Philip and her future husband, Lord Greyson Devlin) is none too happy about her brother's behavior. The others think he's a fool as well. Then when he showed up at Serena's dinner party with another woman, they practically attacked him. Poor Rose had to deal with this public display of humiliation.

It will take a miracle to shake some sense into that man. Or perhaps a disaster that needs the help of those six friends (and their wives) to resolve. I'm curious to see how it all works out. There are so many rumors, but that would be telling.

A Love to Remember by Bronwen Evans is a continuation of the Libertine Scholars saga. Now that Arend has his happy ending and the mystery woman that was trying to destroy their lives has been captured, the six men and their wives are living in wedded bliss raising the numerous children who seem to come in waves. However, Philip's life has not been resolved. When his brother, the seventh Libertine Scholar was killed in battle, the others vowed to look out for his wellbeing. After all, his sister is married to Greyson and family is family. Rose, Lady Portia's best friend, is also an honorary member of the group. Plus Rose's son is best friends with Henry, a young boy under Sebastian and Beatrice's care, so Evans is obligated to "tie up the loose ends".

I was excited to touch base with all the characters from the first six book in the The Disgraced Lords series. Since each of the storylines overlapped in some way, there's only been about two years between the beginning tale and this book. While A Love to Remember can serve as a stand alone, reading the other novels will give a better perspective on the wide cast of characters.

As enjoyable as I found this novel, which had a twist or two in the plot, I was disappointed that the author felt the need to be so repetitive. Yes, Rose was in love and wanted to marry Philip. Yes, Philip felt honor bound to never marry as a penance for his brothers death, but how many times did we need to hear this? Too many times if you ask me or enough to detract from the whole. Once again, Evans needs to tighten up the plot and leave out the miscellaneous - more libertine scholars, less introspection. She did, however, include some juicy dialogue, as the two lovers exchanged some sexy reparte.

As a reminder, lovers of Regency Romances who like accuracy in the details from this era should avoid this series. However, those who like a good romp with a happily ever after ending should dig right in. Three and a half stars.

A Love to Remember is a breath of fresh air in the historical romance genre. A well written, historical romance balanced with sweetness, heat, and intrigue and lead with my favorite kind of unconventional heroine. A strong-willed and independent widow, Rose engages in brief affairs after being forced into marriage with an elderly man and widowed at a young age. Rose's childhood crush and her best friend's brother, Philip, is consumed with his grief for his elder brother and feels inadequate to replace him as Earl. Rose reaches out to him in comfort and thus begins their two year affair. Stubbornness and grief interfere as Rose decides she wants more and Philip refuses to change their relationship. Danger and intrigue have a way of bringing together what is meant to be leading to a breathtaking HEA. My voluntary review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

Rose and Colin are good characters who seem to just fit eachother so some of the angst between the two made me very impatient. A good book overall

Every once in a while you come across a book that compels you to read it beginning to end- you connect and you cannot stop reading. This book was one of those for me. I started reading it at 11:00 pm - to just start it- but finally finished it at 3:20 am. Whew! Rose and Philip's story is wonderful.

Rose is a woman who has been used and is now wanting to be I. Control of her life. She was forced by her father to marry a man old enough to be her grandfather - at 18 years of age! He did it to raise his influence or status in the ton- with no real care for his daughter's feelings. He did her one kindness when he financially secured her future in the marriage contract. So she begins the story as a wicked (and rich) widow- who has just discovered her sensuality and the fun of sex. When her old husband dies -she swears she will never marry again. She has a son and money - so, what more could she want?

Philip was the second son and finds himself inheriting an earldom bc his brother lost his life at Waterloo, trying to save Philip.

Philip had joined the military as a means to run away from his problems and mistakes. His older brother cares about his family - all of them. While he never asked Philip why he joined, he decides to join the military with Philip on order to save his brother from another one of philip's bungles. And he does save Philip - literally- she. He takes a bayonet intended for Philip and dies on the battlefield.

The funeral was deafening in its pain. Rose, a woman who had grown up in love with Philip, encourages him to leave and shows him love and respect - Totally opposite of what he perceived from the rest of the people at his brother's funeral. They begin an affair- and both find themselves wrestling with what is happening in their hearts and what theiy have pledged to never do--love and marry.

But sometimes the heart wants what it wants- unless it can't have it.

Both Rose and Philip have sworn off marriage, but their hearts don't agree. But sometimes the brain and the heart don't agree. An excellent book! Read it.

The theme of this story is similar to others I've read in this genre. There really was no suspense or mystery and while there is a love story, I just couldn't sympathize with either Rose's or Philip's stubbornness to hold on to the past so tightly.

Is it my imagination or does this series keep getting better? I love this series. I have consumed every book with excitement at their release.
A Love To Remember was such a good book. I don't even know where to start. I sat up all night and read it in one sitting. I feel like I cried through half of it. And I felt embarrassed for the characters at parts because I grew so attached to them.
Oh, Philip, why do heroes sometimes have to be such fools. You just want to give him a good smack to make him see straight. And Rose, our heroine.......
They both had strength of character, loyalty and love. Philip just needed a boot in the rear. But don't they all sometimes?
If you don't treat yourself to A Love To Remember you're seriously missing out.
Now I'm anxiously awaiting another something new from Ms Evans.

I've read a number of this author's books and enjoyed them. This continues a series, but stands alone well, since I don't remember all the particulars of the prior books. This is the story of Rose and Phillip, she is a wealthy widow, he was a second son who enlisted in the military, drawing his older brother into the battle with napoleon, consequently making him the new Earl. He suffers severe survivors remorse and plans never to marry. Rose had also planned to never marry, but after a few years of a lovers affair, realizes she loves and wishes to marry him, while he remains steadfast in his refusal. They part, both in pain, and both regret the loss. Much more ensues prior to a HEA, but it does come. Recommend.

5 Stars! Wow!! I LOVE this book!! I read the whole thing in one sitting!! This is my first time reading a book from this series & now I'm going to have to buy & read the rest!! I really love how Rose isn't the normal 1800's innocent virgin or non-sexual widow!! It's a refreshing change from the usual main female character!! This was a really good book! It's got mystery, suspense, romance, it's got pretty much everything!! It's a well developed story & I felt so bad for Philip & the guilt he felt over his brothers death! I HIGHLY recommend this book! I loved it so much that I'm going to read the other books in the series! If I could give it more than 5 Stars, I would!!

I always enjoy this author's books! I enjoyed seeing characters again, and the main couple was just plain cute. I was a little annoyed at times because the hero was just being stubborn. I was also a little surprised by who the bad guys were...I think just a wee pit more foreshadowing would have been nice.

I'm very much looking forward to Bronwen's next book!

A Love To Remember by Bronwen Evans is an awesome read. Ms Evans has gifted historical romance fans with yet another amazing story. This is a well-written book and a nice smooth read. The characters are phenomenal and perfect for Philip and Rose's tale. There's plenty of action, drama, sizzle and suspense that kept this reader up way past her bedtime. I totally LOVED reading this book and look forward to reading many more from the talented Bronwen Evans in the future. A Love To Remember is book 7 of The Disgraced Lords Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book that I received from NetGalley.

Rose Deverill, one husband was enough& she has no need to remarry being the wealthy widow of the Duke of Roxborough. Thanks to a string of steamy affairs, Rose is perfectly content to be known by polite society as the “Wicked Widow” until she’s reunited with the man she fell in love with at age fifteen Philip Flagstaff. They meet at the graveside of his elder brother Robert who was killed saving Philip whilst fighting at Waterloo. They become lovers later that same day & two years later their bedroom encounters are still scorching, but it breaks Rose’s heart to wonder whether her reckless behaviour ruined her for Philip Flagstaff.
The second son of the Earl of Cumberland, Philip never wanted the title. Philip is determined never to pass on the inheritance to children of his own. Then Rose appears, soothing the pain with her delightful curves and passionate kisses. The notorious Duchess seems to want nothing from him and yet Philip has never ached to give a woman more.
Another compelling page turning five star novel that took me through a whole gamut of emotions from exasperation to crying. The prologue started the roller coaster of emotions & had me filling up. I found it very hard to put down & read it in a day Once again a stunning romance; the pace is kept up throughout the book & builds to the kidnapping & rescue. Definitely a keeper along with the rest of the series & one to read again & again. The attraction between Philip & Rose is electric but their relationship is so much deeper, they are best friends too. Rose suffered with her first husband & it took a strong woman to defy society & be her own person. Philip is almost floured by the guilt & grief of Robert’s death, it takes time & patience for him to realise he can move on.

Bronwen did it again. The book is fantastic. Troubled lovers, suspense and villains in disguise. It even had the libertine scholars coming to the rescue to help Philip and Rose.

Whenever I pick up a Bronwen Evans historical romance I'm guaranteed three things:

1. dashing heros who are equal parts rogue and gentleman
2. Beautiful ladies who are fierce in their beliefs and passion
3. A romance, sometimes hard won but always sure to please

On all three points, A Love to Remember hits its mark and we as the readers reap the spoils. The Disgraced Lords Series also offers a fair amount of suspense and intrigue to sweeten the pot, just in case you were wondering.

I recommend it!

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Philip doesn't have a problem with taking charge at times, “if I don’t get an answer I’m turning around and going straight to Rose’s room, decorum be damned.” Philip was about to turn around when he spied movement on the stairs below..." I really loved this book, Philip had his head up his butt half the time, but I still loved him.

Pigheaded stubbornness is taken to almost ridiculous extremes in this pair of lovers who have a lot of sex, but refuse to marry because the widow wants her freedom, and the lord is paralyzed by guilt over the Waterloo death of his brother....until they don't and aren't, but not at the same time.
