Brigid has always followed the rules, always trying to get to the next junction in life. She has the pressure of her family to be the next biggest better thing and its starting to seem like its never going to be enough but she knows she needs to keep trying to get there at all cost. Grady has the pressure to reconnect with someone in his past and he would rather leave that person there, the way the left him. He's is helping build his dad's business and finally getting to a point he want it all in life. He just now needs to convince Brigid that there is more to there relationship than just sex. Can he get past her defenses or will he just walk away with another broken heart?
I really want to like this book. I did I enjoy the storyline and how the value of friendship was so important in this book. I really enjoyed how the author made characters very vulnerable and more real. I did not like how self absorb and snobby all of the characters came across, while I know that was probably what the author was going for it became annoying at how relevant it became in the book. There is strong language through out this book as well as adult scenes which may not be suitable for all readers. Overall I give this book 3.5/5 it was a fun and quick read!

When I started to read this story I was sure I was going to hate Brigid, she was so cold and uptight it was hard to imagine anyone getting past those walls. Grady was such a sweetheart, I loved him and Brigid when she was around him changed my opinion of her, especially when her background and the pressure she was under was explained. Overall a good fun read, looking forward to reading more about the other characters.

Something Borrowed (Lone Star Match Book 2) by Megan Ryder
This is lawyer, Brigid Anderson and contractor, Grady Coughlin's story.

Brigid's main goal is to do anything in order to make partner. Grady's father became ill so he took over his father's contracting business. Grady and Brigid were attracted to each other but neither have time for a relationship. Their friends with benefits agreement has worked for them until now. Grady is tired of this type of relationship and wants more but does Brigid?

This is a sweet and steamy romance but it's not an easy road getting there. I really liked Grady's character. Brigid's character was a little frustrating. In her defense she wants approval from her family at all cost. Will Brigid finally see what will really make her happy and take a chance on true love?

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Second in Megan Ryder's Lone Star Match series, Something Borrowed is the story of work-driven lawyer Brigid Anderson and Grady Coughlin. These two have had a friends with benefits relationship for four years, but Grady wants more. The story works well as a stand-alone or as part of the series.
This story is on the steamy side, as you might expect from a friends with benefits relationship, though Megan Ryder also does a good job of delving into the impact of a workaholic mindset on health, happiness and relationships. I thought Brigid and Grady were well developed characters and I found it easy to like and relate to both of them.
I wasn't quite so taken with some of the sex scenes - they felt a little clinical at times and goodness I wish authors would make an effort to avoid clichés. One that popped up in this story was "balls deep" which makes me cringe every time I see it. There were also times when the writing appeared rushed - a few continuity errors, the odd missing word and spots where extra words appeared in sentences as though the author had started rewriting the sentence and been side-tracked along the way. While I was distracted by these errors, I enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to book three.

An emotional roller coaster of a story that I couldn’t put down.

Brigid's best friend Caroline is getting married. She wants everyone to be happy and in love like she is. So, she plays match maker with her wedding party.

Brigid Anderson is a lawyer who is working hard to become partner at the law firm. She wants to make her parents proud of her. She has been seeing Grady Coughlin in a friends with benefits relationship but with her promotion coming up, she has second thoughts about how her personal life should be. Grady is ready to take their relationship to the next level when Brigid pulls back.

Spending the week together at their friends’ wedding might be just what they need to find their own true happiness.

This is the second book the Lone Star Match series. I liked how both Brigid and Grady didn’t let the baggage of their pasts stand in the way of what they wanted in the personal and professional lives. It is a passionate story that will keep your interest in until the last page.

I just couldn't get into this book The writing was somewhat mediocre.

The author is genius in the creation of this series...one wedding, one matchmaking bride, and three bridesmaids...all their stories running parallel in individual each book. The storylines are perfectly duplicated, word for word, in each story. Reading each is almost like experiencing déjà vu, you've been there before, but it's slightly different this time because of the players.

Grady and Brigid were the second couple in this parallel...here important decisions needed to be made, changes in life...the story was heartfelt and emotional, at times drawing tears. I'm enjoying the concept and execution of these stories. Now on to wait for Wyatt and Anna's story next.

Any story that Ms. Ryder pens has always grabbed my undivided attention and this story was no different, as Grady does his best to show Brigid there's more to life than work. Really, this story was enthralling, fast-paced and one I could not get enough of, because of the main characters and their friendships with the secondary characters. Friendships that had fizzled until this time together, as things happened to cause everyone to go their separate ways, but now they have a chance to reunite and solidify the tight bonds that they used to have. Especially since the bride is determined to see her bridesmaids as happy as she is.

The dialogue was compelling and had me glued to every moment Brigid and Grady conversed, because the hero was determined to prove to the heroine that they're good together and that they shouldn't allow the fact that their opposites and he doesn't fit into her world to ruin their chance at happy ever after. I also liked the interactions the main characters had with the secondary characters, as Brigid wasn't afraid to give advice but not so willing to take it, because she had her mind set on her future. Will she realize that love, family and happiness are more important than work before she loses the most important person in her life? What will she do to prove to Grady that she wants a relationship between them to work?

As for the main characters, the hero charmed me from start to finish, because he had it tough growing up with what his mom did to him, but he's gone on to accomplish so much in his life. I also liked that he had such a good relationship with his brother, considering what their mom did. How could a mother be so cruel to abandon a child? I also liked how kind and caring the hero was and all he was doing for the couple who were getting married. Yet, what I liked most about the hero is that he didn't give up on winning Brigid over until the moment where he believed all hope was lost. The moment where she did something he thought she wouldn't do after everything they talked about.

While the heroine, she's always felt like the inadequate sibling of the family, which is why she pushes so hard to be successful and achieve her goals at the expense of putting aside everything that could make her happy. Certainly, I could understand why she worked herself to the bone, but at the same time, if she wasn't enjoying what she did then why do it just because of the pressure her parents put on her to be as successful as her brother and sister. Yet, what I liked most about the heroine is the decisions she made for her future. She had me smiling, because it was palpable that she would be a lot happier in the long run.

Overall, Ms. Ryder has penned another exceptional read for this series where the chemistry was intense, the romance hot and which made me think Brigid was a lucky woman to have the attention of Grady, because no one would treat her better or support her as much as he does. The way this story ended had me cheering for the heroine to make things right, as she has a lot of making up to do not just with Grady, but with the secondary characters. However, I liked how she won Grady back, because it shows she was willing to do whatever it takes, even if it meant she might make a fool of herself. I would recommend Something Borrowed by Megan Ryder, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Shelli Stevens, Marin Thomas, Kate Hardy or Eve Gaddy.

Well written, perfectly paced to show both Brigid and Grady as they should see each other. Easy to follow along which pulls you in from the start.

One week where college roommates, old friends and family will reunite. The week leading up to Caroline and Matthew’s wedding was supposed to be a celebration, a vacation, a bit of time to reconnect, rebuild the friendships and relationships that time had damaged. It was meant to be a healing time, but as we all know sometimes in order to heal you have to clean out the wound – and that can be extremely painful.

Grady and Brigid are the main couple in this story of lives and loves changed over time. Something Borrowed is such an emotional story. One that I believe many of us can, on some level, relate to. Grady and Brigid were not quite a couple and more than simply friends with benefits. Their friendship started long ago when Brigid was in college and Grady, as Matthew’s brother, were tossed in the mix of friends, couples and roommates. They both worked in Houston, Brigid as a lawyer quickly moving up the promotional ladder on her way to partner, Grady as a self made business man restoring historical building, owning his own construction business which was a family business but now was his since his father’s illness. They fit together, but they didn’t. They could exist in each other’s worlds, but not for long. They had everything going for them – and everything against them. It all was truly a matter of perspective. And Brigid’s perspective was totally wrapped up in her work, while Grady’s was wrapped up in a future they could have… if only. Grady wants more, yet he has to show Brigid that she could have that “more” if she truly wanted it.

It’s difficult to stay emotionally separate with this couple. It’s entirely too easy to see both sides, but hope for them to work their way together where it’s obvious they belong. I completely enjoyed my time with this couple and their friends. You’ll will get angry, frustrated and perhaps become a bit misty eyed as Brigid and Grady work their way to each other. It won’t be easy, but it will be so worth the journey.

I’d recommend Something Borrowed, and this series to any Romance reader who enjoys a good love story, characters who are completely believable, a life situation that can be related to as well as keeping up with the secondary characters who appear in all the stories.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The Lone Star Match Series is turning into quite the seriously fun series. Something Borrowed by Megan Ryder has bridesmaid, Brigid Anderson at a crossroads in her life. I thought her choice was easy but given her family background I guess I could her difficulty. Grady, on the other hand, is hardworking, someone she loves to be with and loves her just as she is. While I am not a big fan of friends-with-benefits stories, I really wanted Brigid to follow her heart straight into Grady’s arms.

It’s a week of wedding activities that provide the basis for the main story of Brigid and Grady’s decisions about their relationship. Family, work priorities, personal goals and past events with all the baggage that comes with it all play a part in their journey. The description sound as if it would be a light, sexy read but it is a much more emotional deep read. Realistic in that I could see a professional woman thinking she must chose career or love instead of finding a way to have both. I whole heartily approved of Brigid final choice. It just made you want to yell, “You go, girl, grab the guy and run!”

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

When someone is happy and in love, they tend to think that everyone around them should experience the same wonderful feeling. That's why Brigid's best friend Caroline is determine to play matchmaker with her wedding party. Brigid and Grady are next on Cupid's list.

Brigid is an attorney determined to make partner in order to meet the goals that her father has set out for her. Stuck between two successful siblings, Brigid thinks that as long as she doesn't deviate from her plan, her goals will be met and she will finally be able to make her family proud. Grady is the groom's brother and has been in a friends with benefits arrangement with Brigid for the past two years. But Grady is ready to take the next step and isn't willing to be a bedwarmer if Brigid isn't all in with him. Now they have to spend a week together after ending their arrangement. Grady hopes that this week will show Brigid how amazing they could be together but can Brigid deviate from her plans in order to be with someone who can't further her career?

I loved how perfect Brigid and Grady are for each other. Both have a ton of family issues and while they have dealt with them very differently, it drove home for me how each was the other's home. This book was really light on the drama but there was an abundance of love throughout the story. I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the wedding party!!

3.5 Stars!

Something Borrowed by Megan Ryder didn't completely knock my socks off, but it's engaging and I am always excited to read a new romance.

This is the love story between Brigid Anderson, a dedicated attorney working her butt off in order to make partner, and Grady Coughlin, a general contractor that successfully expanded his business to include his passion for historic preservation. Brigid and Grady have known each other for years and are in a "sex only" relationship. Brigid's best friend Caroline, and Grady's brother Matthew, are getting married. Naturally, Brigid and Grady are in the wedding party, however, Caroline has big plans for all the bridesmaids and groomsmen, who have been friends since college.

Brigid is a workaholic and has no social life. She is under tremendous pressure to succeed, and a result, she is developing an ulcer. Instead of enjoying the very silly pre-wedding activities, she is either working or worried about work. Grady, along with the others, are in her face about her lack of work/life balance, which is also contributing to her already high stress level. However, Brigid is finally beginning to realize that she and Grady could be so much more, and that she is more than her job.

I enjoyed this book, however, conquering one's fears through bridal party games was a little severe. I found Brigid's constant insecurities about her job and a romantic relationship with Grady, to be draining. Lastly, the group dynamic was unfriendly. On the positive side, Brigid and Grady's sexy times were hot.

Brigid can be considerate, "...we’re both adults and the bed is big enough. Besides you don’t have anything I haven’t seen or touched before.” He stood, wearing only his boxers, his erection tenting the material in front of him..." Brigid sometimes has to clarify things to Grady, “I said I didn’t pack any sexy nighties. I never said anything about bras or matching panties.” I really liked this book, Grady had so much patience when it came to Brigid.

With The Lone Star Match Series, Ms. Ryder continues to flex her creative muscle with affectionate stories of realism that prove to be less dramatic but still all heart. Something Borrowed delivers some sweet advice as it delights and excites. With engaging situations, appealing bursts of humor and fetching characters, Ms. Ryder shows that she is quite adept at stealing the show.
