This book was not at all what I expected. I expected a sweet little rekindling of romance between Emily and her husband. A tale of bringing the passion back to their marriage.

What I got was a woman who's bored with her husband who adores her and, instead of doing something about it, she starts ogling the new guy at work. Thinking he's flirting with her in the form of post-it notes and then, my least favorite, taking all her shame out on her husband.

Cheating (or however close this book got to cheating) is a hard pass for me. Emily is not the kind of character I would read about again. Unfortunately, if this had been a full novel, I would have DNF'd it.

I just found this book silly. It made me a bit angry as well. Here you have a woman that was happy at home but just a bit bored. Instead of taking charge she looked for excitement somewhere else, totally ignoring the attempts that her husband was making. She wasn't trying to escape from a bad marriage, she was just being lazy and self absorbed. A problem with a great deal of people these days.

This book was lovely and very entertaining. The couple was cute and their romance believable. I couldn’t put it down.

This was a great read. I gave it 4 stars because while it was excellent I would have enjoyed more. I feel the story could have been more 'meaty'. There are novels where full on affairs happen but the thought of an emotional/ post-it note affair was well explored.

Cute and sweet. This story is so short I can't seem to use too much words ffor review. But this is fun read, enjoyed it immensely, regardless of it's length.

Despite being such a short novella, I found this was a really great story in itself. Based on the main protagonist receiving a number of post-it notes with positive thoughts on them, the story follows her emotions as she tries to work out where the notes have come from. It's a story that I could relate to and I'm sure many others can too, and I enjoyed the ending. It was a nice snappy read but with a very full-bodied plot, despite it's short length.

This was a cute book about Emily and her husband, Stephen. They had been married for a while and things were just routine. They weren't exciting anymore and she felt that she and Stephen were just muddling along but their love wasn't long-lasting. It was just convenient. Then she began to find post-it notes left in her purse with some intimate comments and she suspected they were being left by her new co-worker, Josh. The man was handsome and flirtatious. She was sure that her life was going to improve because of Josh and his notes. Then she saw Josh in a different light and realized he wasn't the man she initially thought he was. Could her marriage be saved? You will have to read to find out.

The story didn't grab me but the message was certainly engaging and left an impression on my heart and made me grateful for the blessings of a wonderful man in my life.

This was a super cute novelette, though totally predictable. I called the ending in the first few pages. Still, a good thing to read on lunch breaks or when you're short on time

A woman bored with her marriage finds a Post-It in her purse, which changes her life in two ways: the message buoys her spirits, and she’s totally invested in finding out who put it there, hoping it’s the hot new guy at the office.
This book starts with musings on what love is, which turned out to be pretty interesting. What’s not as intriguing is her description of her husband: “full of energy, a great listener, and he utterly adores me.” I think she just described a puppy. She pretty much says so later: “But maybe that’s why it’s just gotten, well, boring. Living with Stephen is like having a really great pet. Did I just think that? He’s everything you could want in a companion.”
Luckily it gets funny at times. “I strolled into work proud of the fact that I arrived on time. Of course, no one seemed to notice. I didn’t even get a prize for that. There should be prizes for that.” Written nicely as far as style goes, but then comes a scene where she manufactures drama with her husband. . . ugh. There’s no coming back from that on the likability scale.
This is written from the woman’s point a view, a woman who’s bored with her marriage to the point where she flirts with a guy from work. That’s fine. But, and let’s not mince words here, at times she treats her husband like crap, just because he’s boring in comparison to the new guy. Never once does she try to communicate with him about it, or figure out a way to make things better. Everything’s about her. It’s incredibly rare that I don’t like a female protagonist, but here it is. And I hardly ever complain that a story is too short, but that’s the case here. I figured out who was really sending the notes early, so I wish there had been more to make me wonder. The way the story’s written leaves only one real possibility, but also serves to make her even more unlikeable. The only thing that saved it from a lower grade was the humor.

So.....I seem to be in the minority here and I accept that. It started out OK, but by the end of second chapter I pretty much knew what was going to happen and I kinda hated Emily. Look, I get it. I have been with my husband for 13 years. We have both changed and there are absolutely days that I feel like I want something different. I can completely relate to that. BUT, where it lost me is that Emily is so unhappy that she assumes those notes are coming from a man she met 30 seconds ago? Come on. And then all of the sudden you are thinking about cheating on your husband?!? I didn't like it. I didn't like how her husband never stood up for himself and the ending was ridiculous. So you basically thought about cheating on your husband and only when you found the guy with another girl you run home to your adoring husband and he holds you and everything is OK? Everything is "perfect"? No. That's not how it works. What if Josh wasn't in that closet with some other girl? what would have happened? And how was anything worked out? I would have rather had them get into a fight and air everything out and figure things out. Nothing was resolved and I just didn't like it.

I get that positive thinking and the power compliments and acknowledgement has. It was a good thought. I just didn't like how the story played out and none of the characters appealed to me at all.

This is a very short novella in first person narration about a working woman who has grown bored and dissatisfied with her marriage despite a loving husband. She secretly longs for romance and adventure until an unexpected anonymous compliment on a post-it note and a new office colleague start to brighten up her days... Or do they?

This sweet love story is a little jewel despite the first person narration, which is is usually not my cup of tea but is in this case instrumental in narrowing the point of view to what the heroine knows and thus allowing the twists in the tale. However, I personally find it overpriced for its very short length and one star was lost in this respect. Keep it in your wish list and grab it at the first bargain offer.

Cute short story. Liked this story. A loving husband and a wife finding what she needed

The good points: I like Avery's writing style, and how we were allowed to be in on the thoughts of Emily, the main character. Plus the fact it was short, but complete read. The bad points: Average in terms of the story of a married couple and the wife is dissatisfied - nothing new there. And I guessed early on the outcome, so I found it predictable. Avery shows promise however.

Since this is a very short novella, I'll make my review also short. Because otherwise the review will be longer than the story.

In one word: AAAAHHHWWWW (okay, I don't know if this is really a word... Second try: MELT).

Like the cover: the story is sweet, cute and it melts your heart. Although a bit predictable nearing the end, it's just the kind of story you need to read once in a while to make you feel good. To hug your husband before you go to work and then wonder off to your office for the naughty thoughts during the day.

Admit it: you have had them. And so does Emily. Off course she has the sweetest husband at home. But there is nothing exciting. So when someone is giving you Post-it notes with comments on them, you get kind of enthusiastic and exhilarated.

And while nothing is happening (yet), you feel guilty towards your husband for feeling this way. So you are torn up, just like Emily. What to do, what to do?

I honestly can't figure out what to say here. I am so torn.

In the beginning, the novella was going great! Then it started to have a 'let's cheat on my great, boring husband' type feel. Then it was sweet. Next, I got mad at the husband because he's just so meh.

Slowly, I started to feel better about it, but then the ending hit and it was like, "Yep, I saw that coming."

Overall, this was a cute story.

This was a sweet little read just perfect for a lazy weekend.A super little read with fantastic characters and a great ending would recommend to all.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book is sweet, sexy and funny. A new romantic comedy for 2017

A cute, super quick, fun read. It's short but packs a full story. Emily has an easy life. She married her high school sweetheart, her best friend. He's cute, fun, a great listener and he utterly adores her. But Stephen just doesn't do it for her anymore. Her life has gotten boring. Until one day at work, she finds a post-it note in her purse which uplifts her spirits. And then she meets the new hot guy at work. When he smiles at her it gives her shivers and makes her desirable. Now comes the battle of going with someone who is exciting or staying with someone who is comfortable.

The story was predictable but still a compelling read. Very well written.

I am glad that my request to read this book was approved on NetGalley because it was a short sweet read, the kind that made my lunch break interesting.
I wouldn't mind being flustered over those post-it notes too. I do wonder how dramatic it would have been had Emily and Josh started having an affair.

This was really cute. I did not realize that it was a short story though-- I was getting into the story and then all of the sudden it ended. I wanted it to go on. The ending was kind of a let down. I really want to read more by this author.
