Dangerous Illusions was a fantastic read. I've been a fan of Hannon's suspense novels for years, so I don't know why it took me this long to finally read this series...but I'm glad I finally did!

This book was full of suspense and I loved trying to figure out what was really going on. The villain was crazy and I was surprised by several things that happened in this book.

All in all, an amazing read and one I definitely recommend.

Irene Hannon is such a fabulous writer! She is one of the few authors who conjure up stories that run like movies in my head. I have bought quite a few of her titles for the church library and they are one of the most popular ones among members. She is not a bestselling and award-winning author for nothing!

Her dialogue always sounds natural to my "reading ears" , her main characters are ones you want to root for and I have yet to be dissatisfied with her plots.

Dangerous illusions was no exception. I liked that a twist was slipped in there too! To be honest, not my favourite among her books I have read, but still much better than many of other authors' books!

I feel that even main stream readers who like clean romance and suspense would enjoy any book written by Ms Hannon. The spiritual elements are not prominent nor are they preachy. The romance is always heart-warming and the suspence heart=racing!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the review copy. This is my honest opinion.

Amazing read

I really enjoyed getting to know Trish and Colin in this book. Matt and Michael are a fun throw in as well. This is definitely a mystery that will keep you on your toes waiting to see who dun it and what comes next.

I think Mac is a great supporting character and I love that Trish works at a school with a lot of at-risk kids instead of a safe school.

Trish has lost a husband and her father in the car crash that injured her mother who then had a stroke. Now she lives with her mom and helps to care for her. Her mom wants to see her happily married again and is pushing the issues with the accountant for their trust. But Trish doesn't see him that way.

When she comes home from a date with Matt and knows the relationship is going nowhere to find her mom dead things take a turn for the worst. Matt indicated to the police that she's been very forgetful lately and conveniently tells them how she manages the meds.

Will she be charged for the murder of her mother? Or is something more sinister going on?

I highly recommend you pick this book up and have a good read. I’m on to the next in the series!

This is a first novel in the Code of Honor series.

Trish Bailey has had a rough time, and now her mother is dead. Might she unknowingly give her the wrong medicine?
Cop Colin clearly sees that Trish is a woman with clear, well-functioning mind. But his police work seem to indicate some foul play around Trish...but why and by whom?

I very much like Colin’s character. A swoonworthy guy!!!
I also like Trish’s authentic vulnerability. They click together!

As for the mystery - this one is not my cup of coffee, as I not like the the unrealistic identity/identities of the perpetrator/s and their dubious contacts with the underworld. These subplots are blockbuster-like, yet they diminish the smart plotting.

Having said all that, I consider Ms Hannon a fine writer of enjoyable works and interesting characters!

Excellent beginning to a new series from one of my favorite authors. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Trish Bailey learned about giving from her parents. And over the years, the lesson became a principle. The principle became a habit. The habit became a lifestyle.

It's not something you can turn on and off, and Trish enjoys her life and her calling as a teacher of drama and art in an inner city school way too much to even want to.

Unfortunately, not everyone is wired that way. Through a series of personal crises, Trish's world has been seriously rocked. And her recent lapses in memory haven't helped matters.

Her life is even more complicated by the men in her life. Her parent's accountant, who wants to move things past the professional boundaries. The detective investigating her mother's death, who seems to have the same idea.

And then there's the man in her life that she isn't even aware of. The one so obsessed with a personal agenda that Trish's welfare isn't even on the radar.

But when things come to a head, Trish finds her way back to the one man in her life who will stop at nothing to keep her safe and secure.

If only she could reconcile the Dangerous Illusions in her life!

Another masterful story of faith and suspense by Irene Hannon. With strong, complex characters and a plot that races relentlessly to an unexpected climax, let the reader be warned before hand: just when you think you've figured it out . . . you're wrong.

5 stars for cutting edge fiction with an eternal message.

This story was outstanding!! Fast paced drama with lots of suspense. I read it in 2 nights because I couldn’t put it down. My teenager and mother really liked it as well. I have read other books by this author and have enjoyed them as well so I was excited to read this especially after reading the book description.

I sympathized with Trish and the agony and worry she felt about her mom and the accidents that kept happening. Detective Colin was a great character as well. I really liked how he started to care for Trish but he was careful to keep things professional while working on her case.

If you want edge-of-your-seat suspense with some clean romance, than this book is for you! This is the start to a new series called “Code of Honor” and I can’t wait to read more!

A recent string of tragedies has left Trish Bailey alone in the world, and in the unenviable position of being under suspicion of maleficence by the police. Hopefully Detective Colin Flynn can reveal the truth before an unknown enemy takes everything away from Trish.
With her trademark combination of romance, faith, and action packed thrills, Hannon starts a new trilogy that her fans will love.

Irene Hannon is up there with Dee Henderson, Dani Petrey and I loved this book. Personally, I loved the mystery and the suspense. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm not giving anything away but you'll have to read it to find out the plot...it will definitely keep you involved with the storyline.

Irene Hannon is one of my absolute favorite authors, and with Dangerous Illusions, she has hit another one out of the park. The story of Trish and her mother's death is absolutely heartbreaking, and the way Trish's relationship with the detective, Colin Flynn, unfolds is masterful. Highly recommend this novel!

This first book in the Code of Honor series was an amazing start, and I am so excited to read the second book. If you enjoy a mix of romance and suspense, then this would be the perfect book for you. It was one of those up all night reads, and I absolutely enjoyed it and was still thinking about it days after I finished. One of my favorite parts would have to be that we got the villains point of view, it's always interesting to see how the antagonist of the story thinks. I think that this is one of the best books that I have read from Irene Hannon.

Wow! Irene Hannon has written another wonderful suspense novel. I love her books but this is one of my favorites. I loved the surprise that I never saw coming. The romance was just enough all the way through the book.. And the writing flowed so well that I never wanted to put it down. I wholeheartedly reccommend it to anyone who loves Christian suspense. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Trish Bailey’s world imploded two years ago, when her husband and her father were killed in a car accident that left her mother ill and handicapped. Moving home to care for her was the only right thing to do. As the art teacher in at at-risk school, Trish’s days are full and her heart is healing. Her mom is pushing her to start dating again. Who better than their handsome accountant, Matt Parker?
Coming home from a date with Matt, where she has already decided there’s just no spark, Trish discovers that her mother has died. An autopsy reveals an apparent overdose of her heart medication. Could Trish really be that stressed that she would have mixed up her mom’s medication? Matt thinks so, and that’s what he tells the police detective sent to investigate.
As suspicions mount, more and more things point to Trish being forgetful. Detective Colin Flynn doesn’t believe that the poised, beautiful woman he met could be losing it, even though she is under a great deal of stress. As they work together, a spark ignites for both of them. Can they follow the clues before Trish is at the mercy of a killer?
A lucky break here. A startling piece of evidence, there, and, suddenly, danger lurks. Irene Hannon has penned another fantastic romantic suspense! Trish’s faith keeps her grounded in the midst of the chaos. Seeing her strong faith, draws Colin back to his.
Readers of romantic suspense will love this book. I figured out early on who-dun-it, BUT, I had no clue who REALLY dun-it. You’ll have to pick it up to see what I mean! Enjoy!

Irene Hannon writes such wonderful stories that leave you on the edge of your seat and waiting for what comes next. The first book in her new series deals with the death of a loved one, deception and brings two people together through these trials. I can't wait until the next book in this series comes!

Irene Hannon is back again with another great start to a brand-new series! "Dangerous Illusions" jumps right into the action with introducing characters, but leaving the reader with so many unanswered questions and trying to fill in the gaps and figure out the relationships between the characters. Trish is overwhelmed with balancing everything in her life; however she knows that she did not screw up on her mother's medication causing her death even though Matt is suggesting that. As Colin immerses himself into this case as the detective assigned he feels like there is so much more than what meets the eye, but it is still out of reach. However, this is not something that he can really spend a lot of time on to uncover the truth as the stakes are deadly.
This is fast-paced story filled with twists and turns and characters' lives that are intertwined. I found myself thinking I had some answers to be proven wrong in the next few pages, and feeling like I was no where closer to the truth than I was at the beginning. Irene's writing is also so great as she writes with such detail that the story and characters are brought to life and the story is a nice mix of romance and heart-pounding suspense. I am looking forward to book #2 in the Code of Honor series!

Filled with mystery, intrigue and characters you want to get to know

Author, Irene Hannon, is relatively new to me and I really like her work. That’s why I was excited for the opportunity to read her new book Dangerous Illusions.

This mystery is about Trish Bailey, a woman’s whose life has been filled with much tribulation over the last couple of years. Two years ago, her life was turned upside down when she lost her husband and father and nearly lost her mother, Eileen. Trish is a dutiful daughter and has been caring for her ailing mother in addition to working as an art teacher at an inner-city school.

Matt Parker seems like a nice guy, but Trish has no interest in romance. And just who is this stranger that seemed to blow in out of nowhere and land on Matt’s doorstep one dark and stormy night?

After all that Trish has been through, what more could go wrong? Well, that’s where Dangerous Illusions starts.

As I started reading this book, I was hopeful that things would turn around for Trish. Instead, circumstances went from bad to worse.

I don’t know if it was the author’s intention in writing the book for readers to be able to relate to Trish and feel overwhelmed as the vulnerable character might have, but that’s how I was feeling as the book started.

At first it seemed so dark. I felt very uncomfortable as Trish was the victim once again and this time at the hands of some very unsavory characters. Detective Colin Flynn was like a breath of fresh air and I hoped he would be able to see the truth through some murky troubled waters that were overwhelming Trish.

Though the book seemed to start off dark and it felt like evil was prevailing, I pressed on because my experience with Irene Hannon’s writing is that she is a safe writer. I appreciate how she doesn’t have her characters do stupid things to put themselves in danger. She doesn’t have them making bad decisions that make no sense.

I liked the mystery and intrigue in Dangerous Illusions and Irene does a great job in developing characters and relationships in her book. The characters seem real and like someone you would want to know. I really liked the characters Colin and his long-time friends Kristin and Rick and fellow officer Mac McGregor.

I recommend Dangerous Illusions, especially if you like a good mystery. I appreciated how Irene Hannon wove the Christian faith into the storyline and characters. I appreciate that there was no profanity or explicit sexual scenes and that the author shares and respects my Christian faith and values and doesn’t assault them.

I would like to thank Baker Publishing Group and NetGalley for the opportunity to read Dangerous Illusions by Irene Hannon. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.
