This would be the perfect beach read! It is the third in a series, but I feel could definitely be read as a stand alone. Darcy is a former marine biologist who loves sharks. When she meets Riley, who lives in the lighthouse, she is stunned by how handsome he is. They are instantly attracted, but get off to a bit of a rough start. I enjoyed reading about their romance, and also seeing the beauty of the lighthouse described throughout the book. They are working to save the lighthouse from being demolished, and the entire village is behind them. In addition to his looks, Riley writes songs. When he plays Darcy the song he wrote for her, it will have you swooning. Darcy is clumsy and some of her accident prone moments will make you laugh. A romance with a cause, set by the sea, for a perfect vacation read! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review

I thought I had read all of this author’s books, but when checking recently I realised I hadn’t! This is one of the books I’ve missed! It is book #3 of the White Cliff Bay series, and strangely I had read the first two books of the series so wasn’t sure how I missed this one! You can however read this one as a standalone book.

This was such a delightful read! The cover of the book straight away pulls you in with its blue skies and golden beaches, and the main focus of the book – the lighthouse – smack bang in the middle. How summery does this book look? It is the absolute perfect summer read (I would say beach read, but I’m not sure if we will manage to get to any beaches this year!) The main characters are Darcy Davenport and Riley Eddison. Darcy has moved to the little town of White Cliff Bay for a fresh start. Her aunt, who had recently passed away, was a resident of the town and Darcy used to visit when she was younger. Riley Eddison lives in the lighthouse, which has been in his family for years. He’s very much a loner and prefers to keep himself to himself, that is until Darcy comes to town! He finds himself very much drawn to her when she begins a petition to save the lighthouse when the local council want to tear it down!

I know I say this about all this author’s books, but I loved this one!! Darcy was a fabulous character! She obviously has some self esteem issues brought on by how her parents treat her, but she needn’t worry as she’s such a lovely person! She does, however, have a little bit of clumsy streak and I have laughed my way through this book, particularly at the school fete where Darcy’s luck wasn’t really on her side! Riley is a character who you know you are going to love eventually, but at the beginning he does come across as a bit of a misery! He is obviously very pleasing on the eye, judging by the amount of town women who agree, but he only has eyes for Darcy! The storyline follows the usual ‘will they, won’t they’ but you just know that there will always be a happy ever after in books like this!

I loved the ‘sea life’ theme running through the book and it perfectly suited the location and characters! Darcy is what you would imagine a mermaid to be like, and I have to admit I did think it was going to turn into a fantasy at one point in the book and she would turn out to be a real mermaid!! The storyline of saving the lighthouse was lovely, and I loved the tour of it, describing all the rooms! I was particularly in awe of the basement room with the big glass windows, although I think I’d be really frightened that the glass would break with the weight of the water for me to spend any time down there! If this book has given me anything though, it’s the idea that I really want to live in a lighthouse now!

Overall, it was the perfect romantic story with a few added extras thrown in! Yes, it does have some sex scenes, but they are all very tastefully done! The characters are all likeable, the location is to die for and the storyline flows along so nicely that you can easily lose track of time as you will definitely be hooked by the end of the first chapter! Absolutely perfect, and I’m so glad that I realised that I hadn’t read it!! Would definitely recommend!!

When Darcy Davenport returns to the seaside village she loved as a child she never expected to fall for Riley, the elusive American living at the lighthouse. They lead a merry dance until romance blossoms but this is overshadowed by the closure of the lighthouse and Riley being evicted from it. Darcy is involved more than she realises.

What a funny and romantic tr full of smiles and love. Really enjoyed it. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Take this one along on your end of summer vacation if going to a beach resort! Cute little romance set in a small town with a great beach. Quick, easy summer read. Likable characters and fun, simple plot, and what's not to like about a beach?!

I loved this book. There are no two ways about it. It is fun, it is sweet and it is...oh so romantic. I loved Darcy and Riley. A marine biologist and a lighthouse keeper. Both make a cute pair.
This was my first book by Holly Martin and definitely not my last time. Her main characters are both strong and lovable. Darcy is more easy going and makes friends easily. Riley is a bit of a loner but that makes him damn sexy too.
Holly has written this book with a sweet hand and the banter between Darcy and Riley is just perfect. The settings and locale are described so well, that they come alive, off the pages. A great read.
I wanted a light novel which would take me to a dream world where everything is perfect and love conquers all, and this book does that.
Romance is truly alive in this book and I liked that though Riley and Darcy were different but both had one thing in common –love for each other and their small town.

Darcy has a great love for marine life so much that she studied this area in college. As soon as she lost her last job and her dear Aunt Ginny, who made her love this area, Darcy ran to live in the seaside town of White Cliff Bay even though she did not know exactly what she was going to work for, she just needed to find some peace and quiet.
A beautiful day swimming quietly with her dog Ben, she stumbles upon the strange Riley, a guy who lives on the secluded Rose Island and takes care of the lighthouse that has belonged to his family for years. The two soon create an implication with each other, which does not stop Darcy from trying to approach him. He does everything to get her away, but the love that her Aunt had for the lighthouse gets her into a fight so Riley will not miss the lighthouse that is threatened with demolition to build a luxury resort.
Riley is both sweet and annoying, which has frustrated me sometimes, but the fun and light way Holly Martin writes the history always conquers me. She set up a story full of mysteries, romance and descriptions of the paradisiacal landscapes of the place that make me feel inside the book and close to the characters.
Darcy in compensation stole my heart with her strength and how she can overcome the pain of the rejection of her parents who do not accept her choices in life.
I laugh a lot with the hilarious Libby and her husband George, with the confusions of the puppies of Darcy and Riley and I sighed a lot with the way the outcome happened.
The cover conveys exactly the beautiful atmosphere of the plot and attracted me the most to get the book.

There is certainly a recipe for developing 'feel good' books: you have a new comer looking to start completely fresh and a mysterious, sometimes grumpy foreigner with a kind of dark history. Until the end of the story, you have a romance going on, frequently finished by a proposal.
What makes the difference though is how do you feel this matrix, the art of creating the story. Darcy arrives at White Cliff Bay after a high record of personal and professional failures, with a fresh new job at the local council and the promise of a new start far away from her overcritical parents. The lonely resident of the historical lighthouse, Riley, put his eyes on her and will become her boyfriend soon.
What I love about this romance story, which goes on very nicely, is the context created: the fight for preserving the historical lighthouse, whose destruction is imminent for making place for a lavish hotel. Darcy's social involvement for preserving the lighthouse creates an interesting human background story which balances the relationship history.
Overall, it is a pleasant reading, with its English charm and an optimistic vibe, a good reading companion for the summer or the holiday season in general.

This is a relaxing read; the sort of book that I read before going to bed at night. Darcy and Riley make an appealing couple. While the story is somewhat predictable, that is not a bad thing as this is the sort of book that one reads expecting good things to prevail. There was back story on the main characters which added some depth. The town, the villagers and the lighthouse are all lovingly described. So...an enjoyable read for those who like light romantic novels..

An enjoyable read and made a change from some of the genres that i usually favour. It is the first time that i have read any books by this author and hope to read more. Although this is the 3rd book in the series, it really didn't matter. Loved the design of the cover, which initially drew my attention to this book.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers. This is my honest review.

I didn’t enjoy it as much as I hope I would. I struggled to get into the story even though I love the setting, Rose Island sounds like a wonderful place. I also didn’t buy the fast development of the romance between Darcy and Riley. I wasn’t swept away by their romance, not until the last part, that is. I feel like it was forced and wasn’t given enough time to blossom into something more realistic. The dialogues between them are too cheezy at times. One thing I really like is how the big part of the storyline is focused on the lighthouse. Also, all the talk about sharks and sea life are truly fascinating. I particularly love the last part where the sharks played a really important role in saving the lighthouse. And so, overall, I still think it is a fun read despite the struggle.

I found this romance charming and. Sweet. It was one of several I've read lately about lighthouses--the setting is popular right now. But I like how the author uses the lighthouse to both bring the characters together and keep them apart. It seems authentic in a way many women's novels do not.

I loved this book! You will fall in love with White Cliff Bay. I was glad to see this was a series. Must read them all. Small village, romance and a lighthouse on the coast. What more do you need for a great read.

Summer at Rose Island by Holly Martin is a British novel set in the seaside town of White Cliff Bay. This book is an ideal beach read and it is worth reading just for the wonderful descriptions of the beach town of White Cliff Bay. For Darcy Davenport White Cliff Bay is a chance to escape another disastrous relationship. There she is charmed by the beautiful lighthouse and by a man she meets at the lighthouse—Riley Eddison. Riley is a recluse, but he find himself drawn to Darcy even as he fights to prevent the impending destruction of his home. This is the perfect beach read and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun read. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Darcey has left her home and all her friends to re-locate to White Cliff Bay to take a new job, after a series of disastarous events in previous jobs. She meets Riley, owner of the lgihthouse, while out swimming one day and the book is the story of Darcey and Riley, but also the fight to save the lighthouse.

It was easy to read and I got through the whole book in one evening

This was the first book by Holly Martin which I have read, and am now looking forward to reading more!
