This was adorable! I loved the romance and the story was completely charming. Left me with a huge smile on my face after I finished it! :))

This book is really good, it is the third in the White Cliff series and I have read the other two. I would say tho that they all work as stand alone stories. Darcy moves to White Cliff and soon becomes involved with Riley the enigmatic American owner of Rose Island and its lighthouse. The lighthouse is due for demolition and Darcy and the villagers rally together to try and save it.

This story is filled with humor, love and heartwarming emotion, a perfect Christmas love story. This story will make you feel good in the dark cold nights. It's a simple festive romance that ticks all of the right boxes. There was some drama with a sprinkling of heartwarming do gooders. The fight for conservation and preservation of the village's heritage and nature's wildlife leaves you cheering. You get a very real feel for the people and the area.

I am a huge fan of Martin. Whenever I see that she has a new book out, I get my hands on it as soon as possible.
You always worry about whether a new book will be as good as the last, I didn't need to worry.
This is a warm, romantic and engrossing read. I would love to visit Rose Island and look out towards the water.

I really enjoyed this summer romance read. I enjoyed the main character Darcy who was as clumsy as me and not the perfect 10 that some writers make their characters.

Straight to the point, Holly's books are the ultimate in chick-lit reads, and this one is no exception. I love Holly's writing style, and found this book so easy to get into - just a few pages in and I couldn't put it down! She paints such a believable picture of her characters, all of whom are very likeable, and it's easy to quickly find yourself invested in the characters' stories and their eventual happiness. This was a typical romance where girls meets guy, girl tries to get guy, and they end up living happily after.

I have no complaints about the technicalities of Holly's writing whatsoever. What I did find disappointing however, was the storyline. I recently read Holly's Summer at Buttercup Beach (which was a total 5/5 read by the way) so I was very keen to read this one. Unfortunately, I found the plots far too similar between the two - again, girl meets guy, guy seems unobtainable, they fight the odds to get together, and they end up happily ever after. It feels as though the plots are the same just with different characters and different beaches / islands, and a few slight variations on the plot, but otherwise very similar and easily interchangeable. This makes me wonder whether the other books in the White Cliff Bay series will be the same again. Had I read this book as a stand-alone however, I would have rated it 5/5 - I am just disappointed to see a plot regurgitated by the author.

This was a throughly enjoyable and easy read, I'd just like to see more variation from Holly's other books.

I'm don't usually read romances, but the description intrigued me--and I have to say that this book was a pleasant surprise. It made for a sweet, easy, sunny afternoon read. I enjoyed meeting the characters, and loved the setting (I live in a seaside town, love the ocean, and am both a diver and a fan of sharks). While I never doubted the outcome, I didn't guess the route there, and was really pleased how the central problem was resolved.

I've always really enjoyed Holly Martin's books and this one was no different. This book was beautifully written and if you're not a sucker for romance books then you will be by the time you've read one of Holly's stories!

They're very easy to read novels and make you feel all warm inside! The descriptions of locations and characters is what makes Holly's book really enjoyable. This book is the third one of the White Cliff Bay series but can easily be read as a standalone story - even though characters from other books pop up from time to time, it's impossible to get confused and you find that you just lose yourself in the story.

The characters are all lovable and you find yourself urging the characters to come together and love when they do. This is such a cosy and enjoyable romance book, with handfuls of humorous moments.

This was my first Holly Martin book and I'm glad to have finally taken the time to discover this author. Summer at Rose Island is the third in her White Cliff Bay series but I'm happy to say it was easy to read without having had to read the previous two (although I will be seeking them out now).
Darcy Davenport arrives in White Cliff Bay for a new job. She's lacking in confidence and needs a fresh start in the small seaside town she loved as a child. Riley Eddison has fled an upsetting time in his home in Texas and arrives in the bay to live in the lighthouse his family built over a century and a half ago. With Riley's lighthouse under threat, can the two of them work together to save it, and to begin something together?
The book is set in a gorgeous town, with an engaging cast of characters which are difficult not to fall in love with. Darcy's enthusiasm and ability to cause frequent mini disasters are charming, while Riley's loner tendencies and dark good looks make him an attractive male lead.
I can honestly say that I had the storyline of this book sussed after about a quarter of it was read. This didn't really inhibit my enjoyment of the book though, it's well written and I cared about the characters which meant I wanted to make sure that they got the happy ending I was forecasting!
This is a gloriously fun Summer read and would be perfect to stash in your suitcase to enjoy by the pool.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book. I have heard about this author but I have never really read any of her books. The title and book cover grabbed my attention straightaway. I love lighthouses, and reading this book just reinforced why.
I did like the main couple Riley and Darcy but at times the dialogue between them seemed quite schmaltzy, and I actually rolled my eyes at the scene where they watch the Little Mermaid Disney movie together. (No offence meant, as I like that film myself, just probably wouldn't watch it with my partner!)
This story was a bit dull at times and bit of a slow burn. The conflicts between the couple seemed trite and silly at times.
Overall a pleasant read.

A feelgood Summer read with a hunky hero and quirky heroine.

Summer at Rose Island is a sweet romance. The setting is a small town with a historic lighthouse. When Darcy comes to town sparks fly between her and the lighthouse owner, an American named Riley. The book has a unique plot and some funny scenes. A quick, summer read.

Perfect read for the summer. Get drawn in by the setting, characters and fabulous storyline. Whats not to love. Enjoyed the whole book, and highly recommend to all

This book was fine but not my cup of tea. It didn't pull me into the story or even the relationships. I want to be enthralled with a book and this one just didn't do it for me.

Darcy, Riley and the folks who live at Rose Island make me want to book a flight to the U. K. today! Holly Martin's friendly, funny writing style is enchanting and her characters are charming. I look forward to reading more of her work.

The third book in Holly Martin’s White Cliff Bay series, takes us to Rose Island and the grumpy American guy living in the old lighthouse on it, and I have to say, I think Riley Eddison may be my most favorite Holly Martin Hero thus far!

Add in that his love interest Darcy Davenport is the perfect level of clumsy and quirky and this was a pair whose story I pretty much devoured in one sitting.

Moving from London to White Cliff Bay was the best decision she had ever made…

I won’t lie I started this book with a little trepidation, mainly because I really struggled with the first book from the series, Christmas at Lilac Cottage was a real disappointment for me, in that it just didn't have the happy, easygoing vibe and smooth Martin writing style I have become accustomed to, and I actually decided not to read it’s follow-up because of it, but the old Holly Martin spark was back in spades in this book and it kept me entertained from beginning to end.

"We can be weird together."

I loved Riley and Darcy together, and once again the author pretty much pulled the whole community into the telling of their coming together, the story although pretty predictable in one sense, is made unique by all the quirks and characterisms that Holly is adept at giving her main cast as well as involving some really likeable secondary characters too.

"I’ve done quite a few things recently that I never thought I’d do."

Summer at Rose Island is Holly Martin writing at her best again, the humor and emotion reminded me of my other favorite books by her in The Guestbook & One Hundred Proposals and I am almost tempted to go back and give book two a try now.

If you're looking for a perfect summer, feel good book, then look no further. Marine biologist, Darcy, has recently moved to White Cliff Bay, desperate to get away from her unsupportive parents. She's starting a new job working for the local council, but until then she'd love to make some new friends and fit into the community. Summer at Rose Island follows Darcy in her new life.
You can tell from the cover what kind of book this is. And although parts are a little predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed this. I was upset when it was over, which I always find is a sign of a great book. Darcy is ridiculously relatable (as were most of the characters) and I found myself wishing to be her friend, and for her to succeed. I'd highly recommend this to anyone wanting an easy , happy read.

Oh wow! This author is one of the ones that never disappoints me. I am always thrilled to get her books to read. The way she describes her locations makes me wish I was there and can actually picture it in my mind. Darcy and Riley engaged me from the beginning. They stole my heart and won't let go until this author's next book. If you haven't read her yet you are missing out.

What an interesting and heartfelt story, this has been a most beautiful and memorable tale. We have Riley a quiet guy who likes his peace and quiet to meditate on his songwriting, a bit of an introvert I would say but so am I, and we have Darcy a rather bright young lady with a low self-esteem which was derailed by her parents, both had disappointments in the love field now it seems true love had found them when they least expected it. Their way was a rough one, filled with bulletins of undercurrents that could cause drowning and other serious injuries, but a strong and true love could weather any rough seas and with strength and fortitude, they could withstand the perilous journey ahead. Although they had a few bumps and bruises none were life threatening. The story line was absolutely beautiful, well written with the perfect characters, I enjoyed this book immensely and to all the romance lovers out there, this is a must read.

I absolutely loved this book. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.

Darcy Davenport moves to White Cliff Bay, a place she has loved since she was a child, to start a new life and a new job which she basically knows nothing about. Not only does she have a new job but she met the handsome Riley Eddison. Their relationship starts off as rocky, gets better and gets rocky again.

There are also a few twists and turns regarding the Lighthouse which happens to be Riley's family home.

Holly Martin is a new author to me and this is the first of her books that I have read but I promise it won't be the last one. I loved all the characters and I will be reading the first two books in this series.
If you like a book that makes you feel good then I highly recommend Summer at Rose Island.
