Another great book from Daisy James. Very summery book with a warm uplifting storyline. Would recommend this book

A delightful read that I throughly enjoyed, A perfect read whilst relaxing indoors or in the garden. I really enjoyed it,

Highly entertaining story about rediscovering your passions, and about silver linings to potential disasters.

What struck me most about Sunshine After The Rain were the descriptions of Corfu, which really brought the scenery alive for me. I laughed out loud when I realised I was approaching a scene that included not only a flirty, good looking Greek man, but also boat - although that may just be my love of Shirley Valentine reaching out!

Then there were the descriptions of various ends of the colour spectrum when discussing painting and watercolours. I could see the various shades of blue so clearly, and just wished I was in Corfu alongside Evie to be able to see the landscapes for myself.

Three things drew me towards this book initially - the bright vibrant cover, the author Daisy James, whose books I always tend to enjoy, and the setting of Corfu. Yet the first few chapters which really set up exactly why Evie goes to Greece, and that set the tone for the book, really drew me in, and I was enjoying them a lot, which only heightened once we get to the sun drenched shores of Corfu.

The story was easy to follow and I just love this authors writing ability, and the way she can draw me into the story and see everything so vividly in my minds eye. Oh and Sam Bradbury's character may have had a lot do with some my enjoyment too, especially a scene with pool, no one around and very little clothing! In fact Sam generally was great, he encourages Evie to try to get over her artistic block, and also acts as a partial tour guide to parts of Corfu that are slightly off the beaten track.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sunshine After The Rain and I'm already looking forward to reading the next book written by Daisy James.

Quick and easy to read. I didn't like it to begin with but ended up enjoying it.

My Thoughts :
Firstly this has such a pretty cover and would draw in any Chick lit fan.
Evie gives up her job after being blamed for something she didnt do flees to Corfu. She hopes to get back into her first love of painting after realising the scenery in Corfu is perfect. And there she meets handsome Sam. Sam is also the son of her ex boss. Whille they both enjoy spending time together, exploring the towns and enjoying time together, we are treated to some great descriptions of Corfu. The surroundings are beautiful. Sam also encourages Evie to follow her dream and love of painting. With romance far from Evie's mind will she give in to temptation?.
I really enjoy Daisy James's books and although this was a bit of a slow starter, I did enjoy the build up of Evie's life and getting to know her. Ideally id of liked Sam to of been introduced a little earlier in the book but it was still a fab read.

Daisy James always manages to produce books with such gorgeous covers that you just have to dip inside to sample the magic. This time we are transported to Corfu, so for those of us who are not destined for scorching hot vacations this year this is the perfect book to help you drift away.

Feel the sun, taste the delicious local fayre, mix with the locals, admire the sea .. have I set the scene!?

Evie has a slight disaster at work, there is a bit of a mix up with a painting at the art gallery .. so she accepts the offer of a break in the sun and goes to stay in a villa when her friend hands her the keys. She hopes to re-awaken her love of painting. While dusting off her brushes she bumps into Sam, her bosses son .. he is also an artist at heart even though his father would prefer he had a proper job like a lawyer.

This is a slow burn romance, Evie is on a voyage of discovery, can she learn to put her ow thoughts and feelings first. Is Sam just supporting her in her art or does he have other thoughts in mind?

A perfectly easy and enjoyable book to read which will brighten a gloomy day or enhance a sunny one. Sunshine After The Rain is a delight and a must read for all who enjoy a fun-filled, summer romance.

After the events at the beginning of the book I had my fingers crossed that everything would work out for Evie. I loved getting to know her mainly because her character is so endearing. Then add in how accident prone she is and I couldn't help but like her even more. Sunshine After the Rain pretty much had me smiling all the way through with it's fun and giggle inducing plot. Sam is quite an intriguing character and to begin with I wasn't quite sure about him but as time goes on his character develops wonderfully.

Even though our summer is a bit of a washout this story easily managed to transport me to a sunny and gorgeous Corfu with some lovely descriptive writing from Daisy James. There was heavy rain outside while I read but I didn't mind at all. It was a pleasure to read in one go and be carried off on Evie's adventure. From meeting the locals and making friends right through to experiencing Evie's love of art.

Sunshine After the Rain is a heartwarming story that is guaranteed to brighten up your day. The pace was good and I loved the interactions between Evie and Sam. They were playful and fun especially the more they got to know one another. Both the story and the characters were engaging and it made for a delightful read.

Daisy James is back with yet another light-hearted and easy read, perfect for the hidden Picasso's and Corfu lovers! Just like Daisy James' previous novels, I adored the concept of 'Sunshine After the Rain' - beautiful setting, nicely thought out characters, and of course a budding romance.

So, Evie lost her job in the art galley she worked at in bustling London. With a huge dent in her pride and self-esteem, Evie takes herself off to Corfu for a life re-evaluation, including opening her box full of dreams which she has kept locked away for far too long.

Whilst I enjoyed the shell of this novel, I struggled to find a happy medium with the art influence that was captured within the storyline itself. I don't know much about art, but I do feel that I have learnt something thanks to Daisy James' book. Maybe 'Sunshine After the Rain' is more aimed at people who know a little more about art than a Campbell's tin of soup.

As always, the romance part of the novel was totally 'awwwww' worthy. It was lovely to see a different, flirty side to Evie; even if the romance candle took a while to burn.

Overall I thought that 'Sunshine After the Rain' was a pleasant enough read with such a cosy interior. Not my favourite Daisy James novel I'll be honest, but still an enjoyable read nonetheless.

When Evie is blamed for a disaster at work she decides to take up her boss's offer of his villa in Corfu and have some fun in the sun. She quickly settles in and rediscovers her love for art and painting and what more beautiful setting to paint in than Corfu

Then who appears but Sam her boss's son and gradually she builds up a friendship with him - but what about Andreas as well!

A good light hearted read perfect for the beach - pretty predictable but made up for by the setting in Corfu a lovely island

Oh how I adored "Sunshine After The Rain" by Daisy James. I read it while I was on our family cruise a few weeks back and it could not have been more perfect. Oh it just made me happy. I love when books do that; when you are immersed in their world and it just feels exciting and colourful and special. This book ticked all those boxes, I simply loved it.
In "Sunshine After the Rain" we meet Evie Johnson. Evie's biggest passion in life is art, which has lead her to working in an art gallery. She adores her job and the people she works with. Though she always dreamed that she would be sharing her art with the world in her own exhibitions one day, she can't complain and is happy. When a painting gets switched during the opening of a famous Rockstar, turned artist's exhibit, Evie is blamed and the Rockstar demands she resigns. So, she loses her job, feels terrible and can't quite understand how the mix up all happened. She is in desperate need of a break. Her best friend, Pippa, who works with her at the gallery, suggests she takes the keys to her boss' villa in Corfu. He often allows people to stay at the guest house so it seems like the perfect plan. Throwing caution to the wind and stepping out of her comfort zone, Evie agrees and is sunshine bound.

Evie is reveling in the sunshine and the slow paced, laid back way of life in Corfu. She has yet to put paint brush to paper, but it's OK, because she's certain inspiration will come in time given her gorgeous surroundings. All is calm and peaceful until her ex boss' son, Sam turns up. Evie has known Sam for as long as she has worked at the art gallery. He is somewhat pleasant and they get a long OK. He doesn't spend too much time around the art gallery as he doesn't often see eye to eye with his Dad and they always end up arguing. His Dad does not wish for him to pursue a career in art, he wants Sam to focus on being a lawyer like him, Sam tries but he doesn't enjoy it.

At first Evie and Sam decide it's best to keep themselves to themselves but eventually they start spending a little time together as Sam becomes more keen to show her around Corfu and encourage her to paint again. Their adventures and time together is utter magic, I couldn't stop smiling the whole time, you seriously NEED this book on your Summer TBR pile.

OK, so, I bloody loved Evie. I loved her passion. I loved her confidence. I loved her job and could picture her at the art gallery in her gorgeous outfits. I loved that she was so kind hearted and understanding. She wasn't a drama queen. She very much accepted things and dealt with the consequences and tried to figure out a solution. Though with Sam she tries to avoid confrontation and at first her instinct is to run, she goes through the problem in her head and tries to understand the situation from both sides and ultimately works it out. I truly loved this about her, that she didn't hold a grudge or stay angry or drag out the drama. She was just so cool. In addition, I really enjoyed her love for her family. They were not a huge part of the book but I got a lovely sense of who Evie was and how she grew up when she references them and all that they did for her. She is very grateful and thankful for her family and I thought that was super sweet.

Sam was a lovely character, very endearing. It takes a little minute to really get to know him and warm to him but he soon had me swooning. I simply loved his zest for life. We find out that he has dealt with something incredibly heartbreaking, so the fact that he still wants to live life to the fullest after such an event, is very heartwarming. I really enjoyed that he knew all the best places to take Evie in Corfu and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter with each other the more they opened up with one another and got to know each other better.

Moreover, it goes without saying, that I now very much want to visit Corfu. Daisy James paints the place beautifully and will have you daydreaming of sandy beaches, beach cafes, putting your feet up with a delicious iced coffee and chilling in the most stunning Villas. She took me back to family holidays in Portugal when I was younger, I could just see the beautiful houses, the crystal blue seas and smell the fresh foods.

This story is a delight. I'd suggest you pick up a copy of "Sunshine After The Rain" right this second. I promise you, you will fall in love with it.

Its a summer read and sounded like it had the perfect summer setting. The author did a fantastic job of describing this to you, making you imagine you were right there. Found the book to slow for myself. I struggled to keep reading as it wasn't the most exciting book ive read. Shame as it looked great and sounded much better than it was

I'll be honest, at first I wasn't sure of what to make of this book. I fell in love with the cover and the storyline sounded good so I felt a need to read it! However, I would probably have enjoyed it more if I had a passion for the main subject: Art. A lot of the book was talking about Evie's painting and her art career and although I found the location and her relationship side of the book intriguing, I found the parts about art a little too much.

The book starts up with Evie losing her job at an art gallery in London and after breaking up with her boyfriend, she is persuaded to go for a holiday at her boss' villa in Corfu. The description of the location in which Evie ends up is beautifully written and I found myself getting drawn into the novel and wanting to go to Corfu! It definitely is a lovely summer read.

At the beginning I found this story was a little slow and romantic interest Sam doesn't come into the story much at all until half way through. One thing that did confuse me was the relevance of Andreas, I found his whole character to be a little irritating (I know you're probably meant to, he's like the villain in this book!) but a little unbelievable. Would Evie really jump on his boat when she first met him? I'm not sure. I did find that Evie and Sam's romance story did get a little rushed towards the end but I did enjoy reading about the dates they went on.

Overall, still a really nice summer read with beautiful descriptions of sunny Corfu. Thank you to Netgalley and to HQ for a chance to read this book, to which I have read and reviewed honestly.

When a mistake happens at a show in the art gallery that she manages, Evie feels that she has to resign. Her colleague and friend comes round with the keys to the owners property in Corfu and suggests that she takes a break there.

Corfu is so beautifully depicted within the pages that you can't help but want to join them all. 

Sam is the owners son and he turns up at the villa whilst Evie is there and although she's staying in the art studio and he's in the main building, they do meet up. He encourages her to take up her paints again and takes her on some wonderful trips to inspire her. She also gets her head turned by the local Greek Lothario and sees some of the island with him.

You feel that you know the locals and would love to join them to sample the local fare and stagger back to your villa after sampling the retsina. I loved my trip to Corfu- the hint of sunshine, the stunning views that are described makes you want to be able to paint a picture for your own house and the romance sparks and delicious food and drink make it a perfect summer read.

Awww - I have to say I loved escaping to Corfu in this heartwarming story . . . . mind you, now I quite fancy going to visit there for myself to see some of the sights described so vividly by this talented author, especially the descriptions of the places where Evie and Sam go to paint . Sorry, I digress, back to the story . . .

Evie had been keen on making a career for herself as an artist until a terrible review not only knocked her confidence but also had her running from her home in Cornwall to work in a London Art Gallery. There the pressures of work, commuting and her disastrous relationship with her long term boyfriend all drain her creativity - she has an all work and no play life with no time for her own art. Well, that is until she organises the latest exhibition for a pop idol who wants to be an artist and is duped into having, as the centre piece, a fantastic painting that is actually by someone else! The irate artist demands she be sacked and she resigns.

That’s when a friend suggests she goes to stay in Corfu and she actually starts to live again - and to paint, after being inspired and challenged to do so by the Gallery’s owner, Sam Bradbury, who turns up supposedly to check she's okay. Not only is the scenery brought to life, but so are the people and atmosphere - it feels like you could just pop out to meet so many of them! Get ready for a story about expectations of parents, ambitions of offspring, unexpected outcomes to well intended actions, brilliant characters and a plot with so many twists and turns, you too could get lost in the countryside!

This is a delightful, fun, slow paced but engaging story in a setting that is brought to life in the pages of the story that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is an emotive journey by both main characters and develops into a delightful romance. Definitely another winner by this author and one that I have no hesitation in highly recommending!

This was the first book by Daisy James that I have read and I was not disappointed. This book was a refreshing sweet romance. A book about sweet romance and kisses and summer fun.

Evie is the manager of a London art gallery, the gallery has a big exhibition for a rock star turned artist and when a painting shows up at the last minute, Evie puts it at the front of the exhibition although it is very different from his other work on display. When the artist arrives and has a tantrum because it is not his work, Evie blames herself for the misunderstanding and resigns.

She is given the opportunity to stay at her boss’ villa in Corfu and she jumps at the chance, going to Corfu will hopefully give Evie the space to start painting again. While in Corfu, her boss’ son Sam joins her and he encourages Evie to paint, he is also an artist but his dad would prefer him to be a barrister.

This is a lovely summer read, with great descriptions of Corfu, nice easy characters, and a touch of romance. A good beach read.

3.5 "Live, learn, laugh, and love" Stars

Daisy James transports us to Corfu for Sunshine After the Rain and, in a beautiful setting with endearing characters, it's a story in which there was plenty to appreciate.

"You need some time and space to consider your future and what better place to do that than overlooking the crystal blue calm of the Ionian Sea?

Following a PR disaster at the art gallery she manages, Evie flees to the popular Greek island to try and awaken her dormant artistic flair and soon discovers a familiar face—her bosses son and barrister, Sam—on the island doing pretty much the same. And so begins their journey, discovering their love of art together whilst basking in the natural and cultural beauty surrounding them.

"Because of you I have rediscovered a passion I thought might have deserted me for ever.

The romance is very slow burn and whilst Sam and Evie spend a great deal of time together as the story progresses, it's very much Evie's story and it was nice to see her focussing on herself and falling back in love with her talent. As it was watching Sam support her and open up which brought many of the heartfelt moments. However for me, the pacing could have been a little more evenly spread, as when they realise their feelings for one another, everything seemed to happen fairly quickly.

"You made me realize that I am the only person who can make my dreams come true."

Overall, Sunshine After the Rain is an enjoyable, feel-good summer read and Daisy James is an author I'll definitely be checking out in the future.

Sunshine After the Rain by Daisy James is a fun little book that I really enjoyed reading. There are books out there that are sure to lift your spirits, and readers, this is one of them! One of my favorite things when reading this one is that I was able to be transported into a lovely setting. The author does a wonderful job at essentially drawing us a picture of Corfu, and if I could go there myself I would. This is a magical quality for any book and the James really hit the nail on the head.

With that, this is the perfect summer read. It fast paced, lighthearted, and 100% charming. The characters are fun to get to know, and watching Evie grow throughout the story was amazing to witness. For me, this adds a realistic quality to the novel. In some books, character growth is nonexistent. This can take away from the story (especially for me as a reader) so I was thrilled to see it in this one. And don't forget the setting! You'll be wanting to vacation on Corfu too!!
