Short but really cute. Not by favorite, but I tend to have a hard time connecting with characters in the span of a novella.

I am sorry that I couldn't complete the book on time and it got expired. I am giving 1 star because of the book description. I liked the synopsis and that is why I asked for the book.

This book was a good read, hot with some very well fleshed out characters, poor Dean it's a pity it took him so long to get his act together but Carly was awesome loved how different she was from other heroines she was a little bit insecure but she owned it. I would have loved to have read this as a longer story.

It’s not too late to read a hot, tender beach-ready romance before summer shifts into fall. Tara Wyatt’s Until the Sun Sets is a perfect choice.

Dean Grayson is nobody’s fool so when his cousin Luke offers him a Goose Island beer and says he needs a favor, his spidey-sense goes into overdrive. What’s this all about?

Just how big a favor was Luke about to ask of him? Jeez, maybe he needed a kidney or something, and he thought because they were cousins, they’d have a better chance of being a match. Granted, he probably wouldn’t be giving him beer—or drinking one himself—if he needed a kidney, and he’d said what he had to ask him was about the wedding, but. . .

Luke admits straight out that what he has to say is awkward, “But Christie and I are a little worried.” They want Dean—on incredibly short notice—to bring a date to their Mexican destination wedding. How’s that going to work out since Dean is solo?

“Well, I’m not seeing anyone right now, so that might be tricky.” Truth be told, Dean saw a lot of women, but not in any official capacity. Never in a let’s-go-to-Mexico-together capacity.

It gets worse. Luke struggles to get it out.

“Right. But you’re . . . Shit.” He cleared his throat and scratched at his temple. “I’m not trying to be an asshole, but we’re worried about how you’ll behave in Mexico,” he said all in a rush, as though ripping off a verbal Band-Aid. “With the bridesmaids, and Christie’s friends.”

Dean can’t quite put his finger on how he feels about the request—is he embarrassed? Indignant? The engaged couple believes a date will prevent Dean’s “focus” from wandering. Dean gets the message: “Focus means dick, right?” He’s not happy about the ultimatum, but family is family, not to mention Luke’s perfect recall of Dean’s transgressions.

“In recent memory? Let’s see.” He held up a hand, ticking his examples off on his fingers as he went. “My first wedding. Matt and Ellie’s engagement party. The family camping trip to Yellowstone. That time when—.”

Dean cries uncle and heads off to his bar, The Tipsy Bison, even though, “a rock settled in the pit of his stomach at the idea that his family thought he was a thirty-year-old fuck-up-drama-magnet manwhore.” When his first employee/work-buddy cum best friend Carly Jensen spots him, she notices, “his slumped shoulders and the way his brows were drawn together.” Obviously, time for one of her customary meal breaks with the boss, not that it’s a hardship…and Carly is feeling a bit slumped shoulders herself, since her doctor-boyfriend just dumped her for another woman.

Truth was, she’d always had a crush on Dean. Short, thick hair, so dark it was almost black. Light blue eyes that contrasted appealingly with his olive skin. Killer smile, chiseled jaw. He was six feet of hard muscles and had a masculine confidence that oozed out of every pore. Really, it would’ve been virtually impossible not to be a t least a little attracted to him.

How does that song go—“Love the one you’re with”—or at least ask your best pal if she’ll do you a solid and come to Mexico for a week. Carly says yes but she has major butterflies when she’s beside him, waiting for the plane to take off, and it’s not just fear of flying. It’s more that Dean is the complete package and suddenly her brain is flooded with adjectives “good-looking,” “nice,” “fun.”

And completely unavailable, she reminded herself. For the second time since he’d asked her to come with him, she wondered if maybe this was a bad idea. The first time had happened the morning after he’d asked her, her doubt triggered by the smoking-hot sex dream she’d had about Dean.

No need to be a fortune-teller to see where this relationship is going.

As fate would have it, Carly’s ex is also a guest at the wedding…with his new girlfriend. To protect her pride, Carly and Dean decide to fake a relationship for the week. But between the sand, surf, and sharing a bed, these friends turned lovers realize they’re meant for something more.

A small quibble with the last sentence—particularly for Dean, even those his world is turned upside down by the fabulous time he’s having with Carly—doesn’t a relationship that starts out fake, falls under the tab of “what happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico”? Carly realizes before their magical week comes to a close that she is head over heels in love with Dean but he isn’t quite there yet. Her friend Rose assures Carly that Dean just doesn’t know yet how he feels, that it’s “the things you fight for that endure.” That’s the enduring truth of Until the Sun Sets: you never know if you’re loved until you set the other person free.

Third Novella of Grayson family.
Dean aka man whore to his family and his friends needs to have a date to his cousin Luke’s (first book) wedding. His cousin and his fiancee worried Dean will date too many in their party to make this wedding comfortable for them. So Dean promised them to bring a date if he can find one soon.
Carly has been working as a bartender at Dean’s bar and part time comedian. When Dean offers free trip to Mexico as his companion. She decides to go along since Dean and Carly has been best friends.
Once both are in Mexico, Carly faces her ex-douche boyfriend and his new girlfriend, she tells them a lie about their true relationship about Dean. Since Dean wanted to save Carly as well, he decided to keep the lies to protect her and himself from his family as well.
Everything was going according to plan for both but they were feeling more than a friendship. They are comfortable with each other but their idea of relationship is very different. Carly has list to follow and Dean is afraid of commitment. Both are treading carefully but their pull won’t last longer.
Everyone at the party bought their relationship and they were so perfect. Once they decided to live on now, everything seems to work until they are back to their normal lives. Can they keep being a best friend?

It was great summer read. I read all three of the novellas and I enjoyed all of them. Carly and Dean were funny and relatable characters.

"Emotionally available? Questionable. Able to commit? Inconceivable."

Dean Grayson is a thirty-year-old fuck-up-drama-magnet-manwhore who have a reputation of sleeping with different women but never gone in to a serious relationship. He was asked by his cousin, Luke, to bring a date in Mexico for his wedding to avoid the unnecessary drama of him sleeping around with several someones. For the fear of what his relatives will tell about him, Dean asked Carly, one of his employees at The Tipsy Bason and who also happened to be his friend, to go with him at his cousin's wedding.

Carly Jensen, a bartender and a stand-up comedian has a list of her perfect someone — have a decent job, a house and a man who wants to share his life with her. Well, good news is that Dean did check almost every single box on her “Carly needs a man” wish list. Bad news? He was completely wrong for her because she knew that Dean Grayson didn’t do relationships. Plus, they're friends and it would be awkward for the both of them when everything came to an end.

But unexpected things happen. Would a single lie be the way for their friendship to mean into something more or it would just put them into a weird situation?

Until the Sun Sets is a fun and light read you could finish in one sitting. It's very relatable! I love how the characters pretend to be something they were not and end up falling for each other along the process. Man! It is actually happening in real life.

I like how the author explained the reason behind Dean's womanizing character. He picked up his father’s habit of chasing women to help him forget the pain of losing her mother who died with ovarian cancer. But when he realized that he has to change — to be better and happier, it's still the fear of being vulnerable that's holding him back. The fear of getting hurt and hurting someone else.

Well, the chemistry between Dean and Carly was convincing. They were friends and co-workers. Even and if they were attracted to each other (maybe for Dean, he likes Carly subconsciously even before the lie), they know that crossing the line will jeopardize their friendship.

And I am rooting for Carly here! Because it only takes a single coherent event for a person to realized what were they missing and to most, that sometimes the person they have been looking for was just right in front of them.

“Sometimes they sneak up on you, hit you out of nowhere. Sometimes they’ve been right under your nose for a long time. But those best things?” He blew out a breath. “The best things can also be the most terrifying things, because suddenly you have something to lose.”

A highly recommend book to all romantics mixed with spice and a bit of humor.

The topsy - turvy ride of love plays out in this flirty friends to lovers read. Until the Sun Sets, morphs from fun in the sun to some steamy summer nights. Tara Wyatt makes sure to never lose her sense of humor as she tempts readers with some summer lovin'. Carly and Dean make a commonplace scenario feel brand new. It's obvious what happens next, but it's well worth the replay.

A quick and cute read about friends falling in love! This was an enjoyable read! I love the "pretend turned real" trope! It's one of my favorites! I adored this book and I'm going to have to go read the rest of the series!

I’d never heard of Wyatt’s books until a blogger recently bought Until the Sun Sets to my attention. Fake relationships that develop into something more deep and meaningful have always been a favourite trope of mine. More so when done well and Wyatt did an incredible job of Carly and Dean’s relationship, I’m shocked as this book was only over a 100 pages, but the chemistry coming off these pages had me completely swooning.

Dean has the reputation of being a player, so much that his cousin suggests that he brings a date to his wedding, as he doesn’t want Dean sleeping around with all the single women and breaking their hearts. Dean has no real options, so asks his co-worker and good friend Carly to accompany him. Both had planned to attend as friends, but things started shifting slowly on the plane journey over, but also when Carly’s ex was at the same wedding, and she didn’t want to come across as lonely individual so told him her and Dean were dating. Here’s when the fake relationship begins and honestly I assumed that these two would just have a great time pretending to be a fake couple and then eventually go back to how they were when they went back home. But both ended up getting something way more than either could have imagined, what started off as just two friends occasionally holding hands turned into innocently rubbing suntan lotion on each other, to some of the hottest scenes *fans self*. I of course was eager for these two to realise that what they had both discovered was something a lot of people spent years searching for and it was right in front of them. But of course I also knew that someone would try and sweep what has developed under the carpet like it was nothing (why does this always have to happen?). However this minor irk aside Wyatt did an incredible job with this short story, so much that I was left wanting a full story from these characters straight away. If you’re in the mood for a hot summer read with chemistry off the charts, then this is definitely the book for you!

Until the Sun Sets by Tara Wyatt was a great and sexy quick read. This novella is about best friends, a destination wedding and a fake relationship for a short time. Easy enough, right?

Dean Grayson does not do relationships. Commitments are not for him. If thigs get too real, his fear strangles him and he walks away. So instead he keeps things light with no commitment. The only problem? When his cousin asks him to bring a date to his wedding so he does not get distracted. Who should he bring? Enter his friend and employee, Carly.

All Carly Jenson wants is to find a man who see her and finds her to be enough. To love her just as she is. But after a recent break-up, she is feeling discouraged. So for now she focuses on her job at the Tipsy Bison and building being a comedian. She has always found her boss and friend, Dean, hot, but off limits because of his reputation.

I loved Dean and Carly. Dean was sexy and caring, but afraid of commitment. Carly was sweet and down to earth, but just down on her luck with love. When Dean needs to bring someone to his cousin’s wedding, Carly seems the safest bet. They are friends, work together and get along great. Nothing could go wrong, right?

For a novella, we get a full story, characters who are easily likeable and chemistry dripping from the pages. Once Carly and Dean get to Mexico, something shifts between them and they see each other with new eyes. The more time they spend together, the more comfortable and open they are with other. Can they keep things light and go back to normal once they are back home or is the risk too high?

Until the Sun Sets was sexy and sweet story with light angst and lots of fun in Mexico. This is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

Tara Wyatt's third novella in her Graysons series, Until the Sun Sets, was the perfect mix of humor and thoughtful. Well paced with a great friendship to romance build up the investment into this couple's outcome only intensified as they worked through their stumbling blocks. Dean and Carly complimented each other as only true friends can and the sexual tension that existed between them once recognized gave the tropic setting the story took place in more then a little bit of competition on the heat scale. Ms. Wyatt's natural ease at showing her characters vulnerabilities with wit and kindness makes reading her work inviting and highly anticipated.

4.5 - "Sometimes the best things in life happen in the most unexpected ways..." Stars!

The third book in the Graysons series takes a step away from its predecessors in that it’s set in Mexico, and not around Christmas.

IMAGE.

Dean Grayson is cousin to Luke and Matt, the twin brothers the previous novellas were about. This is basically your man-whore comes good type of scenario with a side of friends-to-lovers to keep things moving along, and I really enjoyed it. Which in itself wasn’t a surprise as the previous two novellas in the series were just as agreeable.

Something had shifted between them on the plane… Something was still shifting, and he wasn’t sure what had triggered it.

Carly and Dean together were pretty hot from the point their feet touched the Mexican beach, and I loved that while Carly was already full invested in the feels department it took Dean a little while to catch up. The dual POV gives you both sides of the story, and the end was absolutely adorable.

"You want more for yourself, but you’re scared to get hurt."

I hope the author and the publisher work together again in the future, I’d love to see a series of full length books with similar themes, because if this set of novella’s is anything to go by then we would be in for a real treat.

Until the Sun Sets is the 3rd book in The Graysons by Tara Wyatt but can easily be read as a stand alone book. This was a short but fun and entertaining book with likable characters and a hot yet sweet friends to lovers romance.

When we first meet Dean I wasn't sure about him (I mean a guy who's family asks him to bring a date so he doesn't seduce the bridesmaids isn't exactly a guy anyone would want to get involved with). But having him take his good friend Carly works well since they have an established relationship. She already sees a side of Dean that most people don't because they are friends and there is a certain level of trust that is already established. I admit I'm a sucker for the "fake relationship" trope if it's done right and this one was IMO. I loved the tropical setting of the beaches of Mexico and the way the relationship went from to pretend to reality. Carly and Dean were great together and I thoroughly enjoyed their romance. Although this was fairly short I never felt rushed and this is a wonderful summer, beach read!

What’s it About? Dean needs a date to his cousin’s wedding in Mexico. Not because he’s afraid to go alone but because his cousin doesn’t want him causing trouble with any of the single women who will be there. So Dean asks his best friend Carly to go with him, just as friends but when Carly finds out that her ex is also at the wedding, she blurts out that she and Dean are an item. It’s the perfect solution for Dean who is suddenly starting to see his best friend in a different light. They can “pretend” date with some very real kisses and sexy time all without the strings that come with real dating. Sounds great but when Carly starts developing real feelings Dean starts to panic.

Overall reaction to the story? Until the Sun Sets checked almost all my boxes for what makes a good friends-to-lovers romance. Dean and Carly had a solid, very humorous friendship that I hardly see in romance (They’re all so serious and have an underlying tension). These two were fun together as friends and I loved that Carly had a side gig that I personally haven’t come across in a romance: She wants to be a standup comedian! Isn’t that awesome? I loved the goofy moments between them that showed that as friends they could let down their guards. The transition to lovers brought out new sides to both characters that made me feel like I was meeting brand new characters. Overall, a fun, sexy read.

Describe the hero in five words: Sensitive. Stubborn. Fun. Caring. Smart.

Did you like him? Yes.

Why? When I say Dean is sensitive, I don’t mean he cried at the drop of a hat, I mean that what his loved ones thought about him mattered. When his cousin tells him that Dean needs to bring a date so that he doesn’t “manwhore” around with the single ladies at the wedding, it’s like a moment of revelation for him because he didn’t know that that was how his family saw him and it kind of hurt. Throughout the whole story Dean becomes more and more self aware of his reputation and with Carly’s help, he focuses on why he’s so afraid to commit to one woman. Dean wasn’t all doom and gloom though, he was also witty, fun, sweet, and didn’t take himself too seriously when he was with Carly. He knew how to have fun and relax.

Describe the heroine in five words: Funny. Caring. Smart. Stubborn. Lovable.

Did you like her? Yes.

Why? Carly’s dream is to be a standup comedian, how cool is that? That’s something I’ve never come across before! I loved her; she was funny without trying too hard. She was so easy to like because she didn’t take herself seriously or have a complex about how she looked compared to Dean’s usual type. Carly’s go get ‘em attitude was infectious and overall she was a super cool character. Everyone should have a Carly in their lives.

Let’s talk about the romance: Part of the appeal of Dean and Carly’s romance was their super cool friendship which served as a strong foundation for their romance. These two got really silly together at times which was the perfect counter balance to the steamier side of things. I started rooting for them from the beginning just because they had this amazing friendship that had all the makings for a strong romance. These two were so good together that I couldn’t imagine them with anyone but each other.

How about that supporting cast? There aren’t very many supporting characters really, they just come in and out at certain times but I did like Dean’s cousins and his cousin’s fiancee’s grandmother, Rose. She didn’t have much page time but she was a hoot!

Click It or Skip It? Click It. Until the Sun Sets is just the short romance I’d recommend if you’re looking for something fun, sexy, and not too dramatic.
