Our elementary early readers think Peter & Ernesto: A Tale of Two Sloths is so funny. It's been a great addition to to the classrooms for book clubs with our early readers and as a read aloud.

Imagine Frog and Toad or Ernie and Bert were sloths and you have decent grasp of the thrust of this book. A pair of friends who are essentially quite different, yet their differences make their friendship stronger. Not only that, but their different perspectives mean that even though they travel to the same places they have different experiences. The story is easily understood with a clear plot and accessible vocabulary. It's transparent enough for very young readers to understand but with enough subtleties for older readers to appreciate. It's not a terribly complex book but a delight to read.

This is a completely adorable book. I love sloths, and the story of Ernesto and Peter's friendship was quite lovely. Also good introduction to less-common animals for kiddos.

Two sloth friends each go on an adventure in this adorable graphic novel about friendship, trying new things, and finding your way home. When Peter sings a song about his and Ernesto's unchanging life in their tree, Ernesto realizes he wants more -- he wants to see the whole sky! So he sets off to explore the world, leaving Peter behind. On his way, Ernesto makes new friends and sees new sights before deciding to return home. While he's gone, Peter worries and worries and worries and finally decides to find his friend. This book is charming and utterly adorable.

Graham Annable’s distinctive, googly-eyed style is a wonderful match for this odd, adorable fable about two friends. Ernesto wants to leave their comfortable tree home to “see ALL of the sky!” while Peter enjoys staying put, looking at clouds and enjoying hibiscus. He’s content, as a sloth usually is, but Ernesto likes travel.

Peter fears the dangers, but Ernesto vows to return from his adventure. It’s great seeing two such good friends in spite of their different interests and aims.

The simple panel structure and lumpy shapes of the sloths make this a very comfortable read, particularly for the kids this is aimed at. As Ernesto crosses a shaky bridge or swims in the sea, the actions are beautifully captured in goofy, funny drawings that demonstrate the skills that come from Annable’s animation background.

While Ernesto makes friends with other animals and explores different climates, Peter finally ventures out to find his friend, nervous all the while. He might be anxious, but he’s also determined.

Both are aided by other exciting creatures, and they learn along the way to try new things or tackle choices that scare them. Curiosity is good, but so is faithfulness and determination and patience. Although I liked the lessons, I loved how silly and funny the characters were, whether singing or climbing or helping the monkeys. It’s a fast read, but a rewarding one, and one that can be revisited multiple times.

Peter and Ernesto are best friends. They also happen to be sloths who hang around in a tree together all the time. Graham Annable tells a story about the time they decided not to hang around the tree and had some adventures. In Peter & Ernesto: A Tale of Two Sloths, Ernesto decides that he wants to see more than the piece of the sky they see every day. Leaving Peter behind, he sets out to see other pieces of sky. Ernesto travels the ocean, the desert, and even to the arctic to see the sky. Peter begins to worry about Ernesto, so he begins to go in search of his friend.

One of Ernesto's new friends, a raccoon on a mountain, is surprised to see a sloth so far from home. He says, "I thought sloths were lazy." Ernesto explains, "We're content. There's no need to move much when you're content." Both Peter and Ernesto see new things and make new friends on their adventures. But home in their familiar tree is where the end up and where they belong. Maybe the life a sloth is best, in a familiar place with familiar faces and a familiar piece of sky. But even a sloth needs to get out and see another piece of sky every now and then.

Posted to Goodreads: Sloths Peter and Ernesto are best friends spending all their time together in a tree. But everything changes when Ernesto decides he want to see the world and goes on an adventure to discover new things. Peter is left behind and must decide if he is going to stay in the safety of his tree or be brave and venture out into the world.

Peter and Ernesto: A Tale of Two Sloths by Graham Annable is a graphic novel for the youngest readers, and is currently scheduled for release on April 10 2018. Peter and Ernesto are sloths. Peter and Ernesto are friends, but they are nothing alike. Peter loves their tree and never wants to leave, while Ernesto loves the sky and wants to see it from every place on Earth. When Ernesto leaves to have a grand adventure, Peter stays behind and frets. The two friends grow even closer in separation, as Peter the homebody expands his horizons and Ernesto the wanderer learns the value of home.

Peter and Ernesto is a fun and cute story about friends that just happen to be sloths. Ernesto loves the sky, and wants to see the whole thing. So, hew starts off an a journey to do just that, and makes some unusual friends along the way. Meanwhile, Peter gets worried and leaves the tree in search of Ernesto and has his own adventure and meets his own collection of new friends. I like that readers get to see two friends with such different outlooks having their time together, and time apart, but still be the best of friends. THe idea that we can like (or not like) different things than our friends is something young children sometimes need to be reminded of. Making the story even better is the charming artwork and the delightful interactions between the sloths and those they come in contact with along the way.

Peter and Ernesto is is a wonderful graphic novel that will appeal to young readers and their adults. The text is simple, the art lovely, and the story absolutely adorable. It is a win all around. Hopefully I can get this in my school library when it comes out!

I love sloths, so of course I wanted to read this. It literally took me less than ten minutes. It's pretty cute, very simple, so definitely good for a beginning graphic novel reader. It's a nice little story about going out of your comfort zone and finding adventure.

Peter and Ernesto is a super cute story about friendship and adventure. When Ernesto the sloth determines his treetop life has grown a little redundant, he decides to set off on a sky finding adventure. He wants to see the world and the sky above it all. His best friend Peter is not as brave and doesn’t want to tag along. But then after Ernesto sets out, Peter has a change of heart. It isn’t that he cares about the adventure. Rather he cares about his friend.

This story shows to what lengths people (ahem.. sloths) will go for their friends. It also is a great story about moving outside your comfort zone and what fun and happiness you can gain from doing so.

Thanks a bunch to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for giving me this review opportunity.

Everyone struggles at one time or another with wanting to try new things and missing friends, this book delves into those subjects in a way young children can understand. It's also just a fun adventure to be drawn into. Can't wait to share this book with sloth-fans in my life.

Absolutely adorable. A tale of two sloths, one timid, the other adventurous, who are the best of friends. Ernesto decides to set out on an adventure to see the sky around the world and Peter reluctantly decides to go after him. In the end, both sloths have a grand time on their own, exploring the near and far away. This graphic novel tells a classic tale of appreciating the differences in our friends with a cast of quirky characters everyone will love.

Peter and Ernesto are best friends. They're sloths, who live in a tree and spend their days munching hibiscus and watching the clouds, naming the shapes they see in them as they go by. But Ernesto isn't satisfied. He loves the sky, but their tree only offers one piece of it. There's so much more sky to see! Peter is content to stay in his tree, but Ernesto needs to take a trip and see the sky from all over. Ernesto revels in his adventure, making new friends and having exciting new experiences, while Peter stays at home, worried sick over Ernesto. Despite his fear, Peter sets off in search of Ernesto, making some new friends of his own. The two friends reunite, having both learned valuable lessons: Ernesto, the value of home; Peter, the importance of expanding one's horizons.

The friendship between Peter and Ernesto is the sweetest part of this book. Graham Annable's one-two punch of adorable, cartoony artwork with giant, expressive eyes, and fun dialogue will be a winner with intermediate and middle grade readers. The characters' friendship is reminiscent of Frog and Toad; two characters, each a foil for the other, and their unabashed friendship. Their reunion will make you sigh and smile; it's that sweet. The art is adorable, and at times - like a panel where Ernesto gazes at The Northern Lights, and we see how small he is in relation to the sky - is breathtaking.

Thank goodness, Peter and Ernesto will return. I can't wait.
