A fun read. Catching up with some Alliance couples, our heroine is the Attorney who guides the marriages and later, the divorces. The story is interesting with a good bit of drama. Held my attention easily. Looking forward to the next installment of this series

We are introduced to a new series by a spinoff from the Weekday Brides. And Catherine Bybee has once again hit it out of the park with her story lines and characters.

From the first series we met Lori briefly, she is the legal eagle for Alliance and she has been asked to help out the brides who are transitioning out of their contracts with Alliance and the end of their “arranged marriages”. Along with Lori we meet Samantha, Avery and Tricia, who have all had high profile marriages and so begins the tales of the “First Wives series.

Lori Cumberland arranges contracts and divorces for a living and she has also had a divorce of her own and it did not leave good feelings for a future lasting relationship. But that all changes when she meets Reed Barlow who says that he is just a desk jockey doing data programing. He is on the same ship when Lori and her First Wives go on a trip to forget all their troubles in celebration of the end of their marriages. Was it fate or was there something more going on when things start happening to some of the ladies. Was Reed responsible for what was happening to these women? And will her attraction to him be another disaster for Lori in the game of Love. Who is the real Reed and what does he really do for a living.

In this book you will be hooked from page one. It will give you all the things you love from Catherine’s books, secrets, intrigue, romance, love and sisterhood of friendships, so when times get tough these strong, sassy, beautiful woman come together to be the strength they need for the good times and the bad times of finding the lasting relationship that they all want and need.
This book is a wonderful beginning to what is going to be a great series.

Many have asked for the continuation of the Weekday Bride's series and while unfortunately there are only seven days in the week, Catherine Bybee figured out a way to carry on the world that she created in that ever popular series. In this first installment in the First Wives series, we get a glimpse of some of our past favorites and we get to meet a whole new group of people as well!

Lori Cumberland is a divorce attorney and to say she's bitter about love is an understatement. She has been through her own divorce and she never plans to fall in love and put herself in that position again. She's content to focus on her work and as a part of that, she and a few of the women she has recently seen through divorce's head out on a cruise to celebrate their newly found freedom.

When Lori meets Reed Barlow on the boat, she's more intrigued than she'd like to be. The last thing she wants is any kind of entanglement. He's smooth, charismatic, and definitely easy on the eyes and so she decides that maybe what happens on the boat stays on the boat and a week-long fling won't be a bad thing. What Lori doesn't know is that meeting Reed might not be as organic as she thinks it is. Does his being a private investigator have something to do with it?

This book was wonderful and it has a little bit of everything. There are secrets, strong women, friendships that turn into great support systems, some intrigue and as always romance. It's one that will suck you right in from the very beginning! This was a great start to this new series and I'm very much looking forward to the next one!
