Thank goodness the end of the week doesn't appear to spell the end of this excellent series. Without spoiling the ending, there is plenty of life left in the Frieda Klein series which is more than can be said for some of the peripheral characters in this book. The characters are what makes this series so enjoyable for me. Some, like Frieda's niece Chloe for example, have come more to the forefront while dependable Josef is a delight to read.

Events move quickly in this book, it opens with the discovery of the body of under Frieda's floorboards and once again she finds herself under suspicion from the police. The spectre of Dean Reeve looms large as always but this time there's a dangerous copycat thrown into the mix threatening everyone Frieda cares about. It's a fast paced and exciting read with not a word wasted. Frieda is an original character and the you're never sure where her actions will take the story next. If you're a fan of crime fiction but haven't read any of these yet then you're in for a treat but I'd highly recommend reading them in order. An excellent addition to a standout series.

I recieved a ARC fron NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

My biggest fear is that this is the final book of the series. I have followed Dr. Frieda Klein's journey relentlessly since Blue Monday was released in 2011 and have read the series beginning to end pretty much each time a new book has been released!

No matter how much I google I cannot find any rumours of a book 8 however the way things have been left definitely make me think there's going to be another one (oh please, please, PLEASE?!?!)

I highly recommend these books are read in order:
Blue Monday
Tuesday's Gone
Waiting For Wednesday
Thursday's Child
Friday On My Mind
Saturday Requiem
Sunday Morning Coming Down

Thanks to Penguin UK - Michael Joseph for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review

Fabulous author, I've read all her books and was thrilled to read the latest installment of this series. Highly recommended.

Another winner from Nicki French which kept us guessing till the end. Her portrayal of characters is flawless. Having not read the prequel to this was perhaps a bit of a disadvantage.

Frieda Klein is a character I've warmed to, though this is only the second book of hers that I've read. Her intuition and interaction with other characters in the book makes her, for me, a very likeable, trustworthy person. When all about her believe her main adversary is dead she alone believes otherwise. When a body is found under her floorboards and everything and everyone around her is threatened it would seem to point to him being the person responsible. But is he?
There are twists and turns aplenty in this book and it's well worth reading (and enjoying).

Another cracking paced thriller from the Frieda Klein series. This time it starts far to close to home with the body of the person helping protect her found under her floor boards. People close to her are being targeted, the killer clearly wants to get to her. This is an easy to read novel, well written and plotted. We learn before the end who the culprit is but have already been led to that conclusion by the writers.
I enjoyed reading this and hope that it is not the last in this series.

Despite being number 7 in the Frieda Klein series, I don't feel like I was missing out on anything. It was a fantastic shocking read, and I'll be sure to read the rest!

I beleive this may be the last freida Klein novel....I so wish it wasn't! The characters are like friends now & another brilliant plot. If you haven't read this, you should...& all the others in series too!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, great plot, fabulous characters. Never having read any of the Frieda Klein series I came in cold as it were, but that didn't seem to matter at all. I soon picked up on the characters and got completely the past ' relationship ' between her and Dean, so for me it works very well as a stand alone read, although I may now read the whole series. I found it to be a gripping storyline, with twists and turns to keep the interest and intrigue at an optimum, and an unexpected but brilliant ending.

More than just the latest in this series of thrillers, I felt the book explored what family means when we create our communities from the people we care about.

"The shapes weren't looking at the walls. They were looking down. and Karlsson followed their gaze. This didn't make sense: why were the boards up? Why was the smell so strong, so terrible? Karlsson felt a ripple of dread and then, as he glimpsed what lay in the gash in the floor, a rush of relief that ran through his body, like a pulse of electricity. He leaned on his crutches, utterly confused. "........

This is the 7th book in the "Frieda Klein" series. The tale opens with the body of a man, a friend and protector to Frieda, found beneath the floor in her home. Her home has been invaded by a murderer. Someone is coming close to her, but she's having a hard time sorting it out.

With her friend DCI (Detective Chief Inspector) Karlsson behind her, as well as several other friends on the case, there is hope he can solve this before the killer makes another move. They know who the killer is. They know why he killed the man under the floorboards of her home. The trouble is everyone was convinced this killer died seven years ago. Is he alive? Is someone wanting them to think he's still alive? Revenge?

Those close to Frieda are at risk. Her niece, her friends. They are truly at risk and suffering, as Frieda does for those she loves. I love the consistency from book 1 to book 7. Stand alone, or depth adding to the characters, if you've read the others. I could read book 1 and then book 7 with clarity. Just enough past intrigue to make me want to see what I've missed in between.

I enjoy detective series immensely, and this one does not fail to entertain. I've not read books 2-6 yet, but I have purchased them. I'd love to know the sequence of events in Frieda's life from the first book, through to this one. What a great ending! Not what I expected.

Thank you Nicci French, Netgalley, and Penguin Random House UK

I had never previously read any book from Nicci French, thus none of the books that preceded this in the series. As a result of this, whilst French writes in a way that meant I never felt confused as to what had previously happened (the subtle hints at previous events are scattered throughout and extremely helpful) it did mean I didn't quite connect with the characters how I would have expected and wanted to. Nevertheless, this is a good book. The plot is extremely well thought out, and the character of Dean Reeve is both intriguing and worrying. I throughly enjoyed Freida's character - her abruptness and peculiar reactions to situations made for some funny moments, I was surprised at how French revealed who the antagonist was half way through the book, and initially thought this would hinder the story, leaving not much else to be revealed or to happen. However this was far from the case, and it is the assailants arrogance and desire to take risks that bumped up the excitement factor in this book. All in all an enjoyable read, but the lack of action and complexity to the storyline was a little disappointing.

This is the first Freida Klein title I have read although not the first book by Nicci French.
The storyline is based around the main character, which is Freida who has a body found under her floorboards, the story spreads over many threads. Freida I find at times an unlikeable character and for a vast majority of the time quite unsympathetic. All the other characters that were featured were fairly well described but did at times feel that I could have done with a bit more background on them but I suppose that is my fault by starting off on book number 7 and not the start of the series!!
At the start it was quite slow but again maybe that was because I hadn't read the whole series, having said that the book can definitely be read on its own. As the story went on and the plot thickened this was a fast paced read.
I would like to thank netgalley and Penguin UK and Michael Joseph for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This, the seventh in the Freida Klein series, is building towards the next and final book, the inevitable showdown between Freida and her nemesis (is he dead, or isn't he) Dean Reeve.

The action starts when the body of one of Freida's close associates is discovered under the floor boards at Freida's home, setting the tone early on that in this cat and mouse chase nothing is off limits, and no one is safe. Someone is targeting Freida's nearest and dearest, is it Reeve, or is this some new threat?

The husband and wife team that make up Nicci French are true to form in this latest offering, this is a fast paced, tension building, great read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to Netgalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book, read it in one day. I have read the whole series of Frieda Klein books and this was the best yet. The story flowed but maintained a fast pace. I love the characters in these books, they are a diverse bunch of people that just seem to gel. I am hoping this isn't the final book, perhaps Nicci French could start on the months of the year?!

Once again Frieda Klein is caught up in the eyes of an unwavering psychopath. After the discovery of a body buried beneath her floor, Friedas closest friends begin to be targeted, at first it seems it may be the ever elusive Dean Reeve but eventually it becomes clear that there is someone else who wants Friedas attention. I honestly love this series of books the characters are so well written. I really hope this isnt the last in this series

Having only read Blue Monday before and skipped along to Sunday Morning Coming Down I was impressed at the development of the plot and story line from book one. This series has followed Frieda Klein, and whilst it was obvious that I had missed a lot (a lot can clearly happen in 6 books), I felt that Nicci French made it easy for me to pick up and follow along.

Despite the fact that I really enjoyed the book, I found it a little stark in terms of twists and anticipation. It was a well written book and engaging, and it's clear that it's setting it all up for what I assume will be the final book (although there are no days left in the week so what now?). I liked the characters that were there and had developed.

Perhaps I'd feel more engaged with the story if I had read the other 6 books, but I really feel that even for me, all I care about by this stage is Dean Reeve, and I kept expecting more from that without it appearing.

I have been a great fan of Nicci French since the first novel. The style, pace, character depiction and plot never fail. Each book is a page turner. The main character is always challenging. Frieda Klein is smart, intelligent and a thinker. Highly professional yet always at odds with those professionals around her.
This book was a great demonstration of the power of a great thriller to just motivate the reader to become engaged in the challenge of the twists and turns of the plot. Two murderers. One copycat and one a continuing enigma.
Can't wait to see the next steps towards Dean Reeve.
