Once I started reading this book, I was hooked by the time the pinky swear happened! But as we all know if it seems to good to be true it probably is! This was certainly a different take then some of the stories I've been reading and it was refreshing in that respect. There were a few times that I wanted to grab Ally by her shoulders and shake some sense into her. (Cue me yelling at my book around 1am this morning). I'm hoping there is a follow up book so I know what happened. Without an epilogue, I feel very left up to my own imagination as to what happened, other than the ending I really enjoyed this book.

this book was fun to read, I liked the characters and the story line was very good. Real world situations made it believable. At times it felt a little stiff to me. It was well worth a read if you like a little bit of mystery and crime and a lot of romance.

This book was interesting.

Henry's a rich businessman and Ally's a humble florist who's slumming it in Illinois with her two roommates in their cozy apartment. Ally and Henry bump into each other one day, there are some time jumps in between, they meet up again, there are more time jumps, and then the story forges ahead with their courtship for the first 48% of the book. By this time, I was confused about the "trigger warning" noted for this book and kept wondering where the "dark romance" part of the story would show up...

The last half of this book went in a completely different direction. There was a reason why the characters had zero chemistry, why Henry was ridiculously moody, and Ally's thoughts were like this:

- I didn’t realize how weird it must be for me to still have a flip phone in the twenty-first century until now.

- Henry led us to his car, and I wasn’t surprised that he sported a black BMW. Those things were way out of my league. Needless to say, so was Henry.

- Man, he was way out of my league.

- Maybe Henry was my prince.
Could it be?

And then that line that's present in almost EVERY SINGLE ROMANCE NOVEL I pick up nowadays:

- Henry, what are you doing to me?

▲ Yes, Ally lives a rather sheltered existence until Henry makes things official between them. Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey will be shaking their heads by the halfway point in this story because of the similarities between this book and that one, but the last half of this story is where the similarities end.

▲ This story was okay, but the characters were underdeveloped and I felt nothing towards them at the beginning of the story, the middle, and the end. (view spoiler) The first half of this book was rather wholesome and felt more like a NA/YA read, but some of the twists that appeared in the second half made the story feel a bit disjointed.

▲ The upside? The writing style is very basic, easy to follow along with, and the reader gets to dive right into this story without having to wade through chapters and chapters of background information. This book is also great for a reader who's unbothered by lots of time jumps: one week, two weeks, two months, etc. The POV's singular and narrated in first-person.

This was a really good book. It made me happy, sad and angry. I could not put it down. I didn't like that the ending kept me hanging. I can't wait for the second book. I would definitely recommend this book.

A good read. I'll more than likely read the next in the series.

I am torn in this review. The story and the plot twist are good, which kept me turning the pages. But I was turning them despite the quality of the writing. It is amateurish and cliche at best. The dialogue and descriptions bring to mind a lazy Lifetime movie of the week, but it's an easy breezy read best suited for those who don't get caught up in poor sentence structure and faulty plot devices.
