I'm loving this cozy mystery series. But I mean what's not to love about a cozy series set in the heart of Cajun country. The food and the recipes. And Maggie figuring out the mystery before the small town police dept does.
I have to say that Gopher Maggie's dog and Xander Bo's son are my two favorite characters.

Fun cozy mystery. I wish there were more souther Louisiana elements for the Christmas feel but enjoyed it nonetheless.

This is a start to a series of cozy mysteries. It is an easy book to recommend to most readers.. Reading these books in order is recommended.

What's not to like about a Christmas story taking place in Louisiana, with cajun customs and food along with a murder to solve. I was all in.

Maggie came home from New York for a holiday and never left. She has worked tirelessly to help save the family home turned B&B, but they are in trouble again. Her father's brother who runs a company turning historic homes into boutique hotels and B&Bs recently added Crozat B&B to the portfolio. All should have been fine, until a ruthless investor tries to take over the company and force him out. He gets people to post awful reviews on the web to drive the price down. When they figure out what is happening, the ruthless businessman ends up dead, murdered in Doucet House. Of course, Maggie and her family are all suspects.

I love the characters in this series. Maggie, her parents and grandmother are a wonderful family unit who work well together and take care of one another. Maggie's friends add the quirkiness to the story. They are fun and I love some of the saying they come out with. Bo and Rufus, police officers and related also add some humour to the story. Bo is Maggie's love interest and his uncle Rufus has always had a hate on for the Crozats. This story shows him changing in his attitude and actually doing some real investigating which I enjoyed. The mystery was well-written and interesting. I was kept guessing throughout and when there was another murder, it seemed to make it harder to figure out. Throw in the Christmas Bonfire, Maggie's job at Doucet manner, a proposal from a new character in the series and you have an interesting story to go along with the mystery. I enjoy this series and visits to Pelican, Louisiana. I recommend this series to cozy mystery lovers anywhere.

This is a fun Christmas Cozy Mystery with a Cajun Twist. It is Christmas in Pelican, Louisiana and the whole town is getting ready for the Holiday and the Bonfires along the Levee. The family's Bed and Breakfast is being flooded with bad reviews and trying to avoid a hostile takeover. When Maggie finds the body of the businessman suspicion falls on her boyfriend Bo, so she sets out to solve the murder. She even works with Rufus. The same wonderful characters are here and the Cajun background is a lot of fun. The mystery was good and there were a lot of twists and turns and suspects. There is a lot going on in this book. It was a quick fun read, perfect for the season. This series does not have to be read in order. Enjoy

A down south murder mystery full of charm and cajun flair. This was my first jaunt to the bayou, but it will not be the last! A fun book that was a quick read!

This is the third book in the Cajun Country Mystery series. Maggie is at her family's b&b to help with the holidays when the travel websites are flooded with negative reviews. Maggie believes it is a rival business owner who then ends up dead at her workplace. Eek!! Can Maggie figure out the killer before someone she loves goes down for the crime?

This was a fun read. The characters are well developed and relatable. I don't want to give to much away so read the book! I hope to read more of this series!!

This third book in this series has sealed this as being one of my favorite series! It's full of southern charm, and fun heartwarming characters. You get wrapped up in the characters and almost forget your trying to solve a murder. 

It's Christmas time in Pelican, Louisiana and Maggie's favorite time of the year though it seems someone is trying to put a damper in her spirits. Someone on Trippee.com is giving their B&B bad reviews and they have no clue who is doing it or why because they have always been very accommodating. When her father who is not in the holiday spirits because he doesn't want to go all out for the annual bonfire collapsed and Maggie finds out what he has been hiding. It seems that his brother Tig is in a bit of a mess with his business and it can affect the Crozat's B&B, there is a man trying to shove Tig out of his own business so he can have the property. Then they find out that man is a guest at their B&B and figure he must be behind all the bad reviews, they kick him out.

Not long after that of course the man is found dead but it's not just the Crozat's on that list as it seems this man leaves his mark every where and even her boyfriend Bo is on the suspect list. It also seems like the acting police chief has now found another reason to sideline Bo from investigating. Instead he reinstates Rufus to investigate the murders and he even lets Maggie help him which is a Christmas miracle in itself as the Rufus has had it out for the Crozats for a long time. It seems that fatherhood has changed the man for the better.

I really liked getting to know a little bit of how they celebrate Christmas Cajun style and the bonfires along the Mississippi sound really cool! The author confirms that they indeed do that at Christmas and so Louisiana at Christmas is on my must go see list. :) The characters in this series are just so easy to fall in love with from Maggie to her family to her friends and I am even starting to warm up to Rufus as he was a lot nicer in this one. I love Maggie and Bo's relationship and his little boy is just a doll. It really is so easy to get wrapped up in the overall storyline that you can enjoy it and forget someone was murdered...lol. 

The mystery is really well done and there are a lot of suspects and it was really hard to figure out who done it. The killer was on my short list but I wasn't really sure up till the close to the reveal. The bad guy was a real sleazy bag so it was easy to see anyone wanting to clobber him. :)

If you enjoy cozy mysteries then you really need to try this series and it has recipes!!

A Cajun Christmas Killing is book 3 in the Cajun Country Mystery series. This book is a delightful Christmas feast to the reader set in the small Cajun town. The food, the history, the Southern culture all together make this series a fun read. The decorations are up and the town is thrilled with the elaborate decorations at the antebellum homes throughout the town. . The town is in full Christmas mode when a murder occurs and several crimes against locals take center stage among the celebrating.
In this next in series our protagonist are many fold. The Crozats and Durands are two of the founding families in Pelican, LA and they've been feuding since before the Civil War. They join together in this unique setting of Christmas to solve a murder and save their town.
This book is a delight from page one. The humor, the culture, the Christmas setting makes this a perfect holiday read. i enjoyed the families working together to stop the killer. The sleuth kept me guessing and was full of twist and turns throughout.

This was the first book that I've read in this series. I was a bit hesitant wondering how easy it would be to follow the characters and their relationships. However, I found that the author had done a great job of providing enough background material about the characters without slowing the story down.

I loved the setting of this book and would love to be able to visit Pelican. The characters were interesting and the descriptions of family dynamics seemed fairly true to life. There were twists and turns that kept my interest until the very end.

I will have to go back and read the earlier ones in the series.

This is a FUN read. Interesting plot, characters come alive and relationships established quickly without a lot of extraneous words that do nothing to further the story

This book was by far one of my favorites from this year. I adore visiting with the charming characters and the setting is always much warmer than my current location. The author entwined the holiday season in this mystery that made me thrilled to be back in the south with this book! A great detail the author added was the deception in this book, it kept me going through till the end. A new must read for many cozy fans!

I am a huge fan of holiday themed cozies so I jumped at the chance to review A Cajun Christmas Killing. I was already intrigued by the setting but hadn’t read the previous titles in the series. I prefer reading series in order so I read the first two books before starting this one and I’m glad I did. The backstory between Maggie and Rufus is a key element of the plot. That said, it is still an enjoyable read for someone unfamiliar with the characters. Ms. Byron gives enough background information to establish the dynamics of the relationship.
Christmas in Pelican, Louisiana is no different than any other time. Murder doesn’t care about the holidays and Maggie finds herself trying to save the family business while solving yet another mystery. The book is instantly captivating and entertaining. The dialogue is great and the Southernisms aren’t overdone. The author creates a believable atmosphere. Small town charm is evident from the descriptions to the interactions of the characters. She also subtly addresses a couple of hot button issues without being preachy or overly dramatic. There are numerous suspects and lots of clues that keep the reader engaged until the culprit is expertly revealed. A Cajun Christmas Killing is a great holiday read with a balance of action, humor, mystery and romance. I highly recommend this entry into the series and look forward to the fourth.

I am really enjoying this series and couldn't wait to read this latest installment. However I waited a while because I just hate reading Christmas stories when it isn't that time of year. So I managed to hold out until now and can't believe I let myself wait. Christmas was a topic in this book but it wasn't so overwhelming. Actually I think I picked a good time to read this one because now I feel in the mood for the holidays to arrive!

Also I feel like I want to visit the Bayou! The author makes this area sound so amazing. All the little details about the area and the traditions. It really gives the reader a wonderful impression of the place. I really wanted to be there and see how all the places really look.

Anyway, enough of that. What about the story? Well this time I was a little disappointed in the plot. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as the previous books. However I have to say I am so into the characters and the whole continuing story that the author could have left out the murder mystery and I still would have read this. I just really love the location, people and day to day live.

I am really looking forward to visiting again and spending more time in the bayou. I also can't wait to see how things continue with all of Maggie's friends and family. It will be a pleasure to spend time with them again. If I could, like their guests, rate my visit there...well I would give them five stars.

Residents and visitors to Pelican, Louisiana are looking forward to the area's unique Christmas festivities. At the Crozat Plantation B&B, the family is busy building the huge bonfire on the levee that will be lit on Christmas Eve. But not everyone is in the joyous spirit. An online troll has been posting negative reviews about Crozat on travel review websites. Maggie Crozat believes the culprit is businessman Steve Harman who has been staying there as a guest. Harman is determined to do anything to take over the company that Maggie's Uncle Tig owns which restores historic properties into luxury resorts. But then Maggie finds Harman dead in the parlor of the Doucet Plantation where she works as a tour guide. Maggie and the Crozats are among the main suspects in his murder. Maggie's police boyfriend Bo Durand is also under suspicion since he argued with Harman about how to further his autistic son Xavier's artistic talents. So Maggie does her own sleuthing with the help of former foe turned ally Rufus Durand. Another suspicious death occurs and several threats are made to Maggie and her friends before the killer tries to silence Maggie during the bonfire festivities.

This is another entertaining and strong entry in the Cajun Country Mystery series.

A Cajun Christmas Killing is an entertaining cozy mystery. It has lively, unique characters and a small, quirky Southern town. Maggie has a large extended family and many friends in Pelican. It was interesting to read about the bonfires being built and how they are utilized on Christmas Eve (what a nifty tradition). I just loved the descriptions of the old homes with original details (I am one of those people who loves squeaky old wood floors). I found the story to be nicely written and to have a good pace (makes for an easy to read story). There is quite a bit going on in A Cajun Christmas Killing. I highly recommend reading the series in order. It will help familiarize you with the characters (it can be hard to keep them all straight). My rating for A Cajun Christmas Killing is 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). I do wish, though, that the mystery had been harder to solve. I like to be challenged, and I accurately predicted the outcome before Maggie stumbled upon the body. There are some delightful sounding recipes at the end of the book. The ending was very satisfying (those who dislike Tannis will be merry). I look forward to visiting Pelican, Louisiana again in the next A Cajun Country Mystery.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. This was a great read I am really enjoying this series it was a wonderful read and held my interest from beginning to end.This was a little different from your typical Christmas book and that is what I liked most about this one, it had a really entertaining storyline and some very interesting characters.A super read you won't want to miss this one.
