I received this as a review copy, so thank you to NetGalley and Severn House for granting my request. I have read a number of the Henry Christie books written by the author so was eager to find out how this new character, Steve Flynn matched up. Unfortunately the Flynn books are definitely second best in comparison. I read the book through to the final page as I thought there may have been something of note at the end. There wasn't and if anything the book seemed to run out of ideas and just seemed to grind to a halt. The Steve Flynn books are in a series of three books so perhaps the character is still being developed

This is the third book in the Steve Flynn series, although it explains what is going on well, reading the previous books would probably help explain more. This is a good book that moves along at a nice pace, I did find the ending slightly disappointing as there was no final face off between Flynn and Bashkim.

Headhunter is Mr Oldham's third book featuring Steve Flynn, an ex cop, ex Marine and beginning at the precise moment that he is in the process of killing one of the men that decapitated his girl friend. This time he finds himself up against a powerful International crime family that had his girl friend killed in order to get at Steve. And that is just the beginning. He surrenders to the police after the murder and one of the officers set to guard him until he can be brought to jail is the prettiest cop on the force. Needless to say a mutual attraction between Steve and her is developed and takes root.
Like Mr Oldham's previous novels we get action after action while Steve goes after the Bashkims (the Crime family). Taking place in England, the Canary Islands, and Malta the scenes move the reader rapidly through the locales of Steve's hunt. A hunt which also includes cooperation with the American government, Steve's ex supervisor and our pretty girl. There are no hidden meanings, but for those that like plenty of action and the ultimate triumph of justice this is your book. Will the pretty girl appear in the next novel featuring Steve? Hmm tune in later to find out, but we know in advance that there will be enough action to keep readers happy and coming back for more.
