Emmy and Nick met in Vegas. They were young and fell in love fast – it was love at first sight. They got married but sadly that only lasted one night. The next morning Emmy woke to a cold bed. Nick left Emmy with a single “sorry” note and broken heart. The next time they saw each other again it was 9 years later. Emmy moved on but Nick has not. He is determined to win Emmy back … after all they are still married  Nick is hiding a secret and Emmy needs answers about the past or closure so she can truly move on with her life. I guess the thing that bugged me was that Emmy was seeing Nick for a week even though she has a boyfriend. I would have liked it better if she cut tie beforehand. But I do get the all alpha Nick – he is persistent and would not take no for an answer. There were also a bit of a side story that I don’t really care for – the drama with both families and also a student in Emmy's class. Other than that, I love the characters – the heroine came from a rich family but she is down to earth and a sweet girl. The hero has a big heart, protective, and all alpha. Awesome chemistry and steamy sex scenes. I also like that this story is about forgiveness, redemption and beautiful second chance romance. Nice addition to the Jamison Valley series.

A second chance with unexpected twists…

This is only the second book in the Jamison Valley series and it already feels like going home! The characters and the situations they find themselves in, wrapped in stellar writing, means each read is a stay up all night until it’s over kind of thing…

Nick and Emmy had history full of love, tenderness and humour. Their relationship was short but its impact was felt deeply, even years later. Now they were in each other’s lives again and it was an entirely different story. Explanations were needed and getting to the root of the problem took time, conversations and yes, a bit of yelling. Emmy was in no way wanting, or needing, Nick back in her life but he couldn’t see a life without her.

Some of the details had me shaking my head in doubt, I will admit. Nick’s sudden about face when he did nothing to bring their reunion about had me doubting his sincerity. For a few minutes. Until I kept reading and seeing the lengths he would go to protect Emmy – her hopes, her feelings and her life. And Emmy? She was torn between a few forces of nature and her choice wasn’t easy. What was easy, for me, was enjoying the many twists and turns while they worked it all out!

I'm a huge binge reader and I believe that books come to us when we need them. This is what happened with The Clover Chapel. First, I downloaded it and then I got busy with life. So when I was searching for my next captivating and emotional read, I reached for it. And I was correct - this was just what I needed.

Nick and Emmy are the best couple. Yes, they've been through some things - a lot of things, but through each step of time I felt them coming back together. Their story is one of second chances but with a really unique spin on it..

There were so many things I enjoyed about this book but I don't want to give them all away. So, I'll leave you with this thought - Devney Perry is an amazing storyteller, who has a unique way of pulling all the emotions out of the reader.

A hometown love story about two people who can't keep the other of their mind but is a angsty passion filled slow burn beautiful story

I love second chance romance novels, but the characters in this book didn't work for me. I didn't like them that much. Runaway after one day and nine years later still love them? Umm...No. Too over the top with hyperbole to. Blam blam went the fireworks again. New discription are required.

Devney Perry thank you for writing such an engaging story! I loved this story and cannot wait to read the other books in the series. It was everything that I wanted to read in a getting married in Vegas story.

First off, where does this author get her covers? They're always so stunning!

After reading my first book by Devney Perry, I can understand why everyone has fallen in love with her. She's got endearing characters and a sweetness to her writing that will definitely appeal to the masses. However, I was waiting for that extra push. I kept feeling like something was missing and even when I got to the end, it was nowhere to be found. What that 'thing' was, I couldn't tell you. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I felt it. I'm a real sucker for a second chance romance story so I just went with the flow and I have no regrets. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get enough of Nick's perspective so that I could really trust and believe in his devotion to Emmy. I have to admit to being a little turned off by him when he spoke of carrying a torch for her throughout the years and actually felt guilt whenever he was with another woman, but he didn't justify any of that. So getting inside his head more may have helped. Or maybe it would have hurt his case. Luckily, I'm not the writer.

This was an okay read, but it definitely let me see the potential of this author. Will I try her again? Most definitely! I've actually got a signed copy of Tattered on my bookshelf waiting to be read.

Do you ever read an author because everyone else gushes over her? All your favorite reviewers - the ones you trust to steer you to the best books - think the author is just the greatest, and they rave about her writing being poetic and touching and compelling...and...and…and...

But you’ve tried her books, and you can’t get into them. Like, hardly at all. You don’t like the characters. You don’t like the plots. They occasionally make you want to throw your Kindle across the room. And you wonder, "what am I missing???"

That’s me and Devney Perry.

On paper, I should have liked The Clover Chapel. I really like second-chance love stories. But this one...it was a struggle.

Emmeline Austin and Nick Slater met in Las Vegas, and after one impetuous night get married. When Emmeline wakes up the next morning, Nick is gone and never heard from again.

Nine years later, Emmeline has left her high-society life in New York City behind in favor of pursuing her dream job - teaching. When she finds a position in Prescott, Montana, she packs up and makes the move across the country. Little does she know that town is also the home of her long lost husband.

Nick had his (marginally valid) reasons for leaving Emmy behind. But now that she’s appeared in the town he calls home, he’s not about to lose her a second time. Never mind she has a serious boyfriend back in New York, and the Slater family’s involvement with a motorcycle gang hasn’t changed. Nick is determined to win back the love of the woman he “never” stopped loving and “regretted” leaving behind.

Sadly, there wasn’t much that worked for me in this book. I know most people gush over this author’s writing, but personally, I’m just not amused by hyperbole - like the heroine feeling “like sparks we’re going to start shooting out of my fingers and toes at any minute” because the hero kissed her. If that were the only instance of exaggeration and over-the-top writing, I could overlook it. But it was NOT. The whole book is filled with it.

Also, I am SO over the alpha male hero character. The bossy directives, the grunted demands. I’m tired of them. I’ll end it there, because I could rant for pages.

Then we have the slut shaming, wench-calling of a woman at the bar, then the diner. Okay, so she’s obnoxious and rude. But to shove a $100 bill in her face and tell her to get a clue was just so...mean girl. And for what? That character did nothing to move the plot forward, and I’m tired of authors having a token “bimbo” character for the simple purpose of artificial conflict. When the people in the diner “were standing up from their chairs, roaring hysterically at Andrea’s now bright red face,” it made me wonder if the whole town was made up of cliched high school students.

Random List of Things that irritated me about these characters and/or plot:
~ Emmeline has a boyfriend she left behind in New York, but agrees to go on five dates with Nick. Uh, if the roles were reversed, we’d be hacked off that a man in a committed relationship went on a date with another woman. We'd call that cheating. So, not okay behavior for anyone.
~ Nick admits he was with other women the past ten years, and instead of feeling ashamed, embarrassed, or regretful, it makes him feel good that Emmy is jealous. Wow. Don’t get me wrong...I’m not ticked off that he was with other women. Well, I am. You talk a woman into marrying you, then leave her behind...you either stay true to your marriage vows, or give her a divorce. He did neither, which is such un-hero-like behavior. But the least he could do - if he were a decent guy - is show some remorse!
~ The recycled kidnapping plot. Good grief, Prescott is seriously one unsafe place for women.

The only redeeming thing about this book, is that FINALLY we have a heroine who doesn’t jump back into bed right away with the hero just because he’s so hawt. I didn’t particularly care for the heroine, but I do give her credit for keeping the hero at arm’s length for several months before starting things up with him.

So yeah, didn’t really care for this book, as evidenced by the four days it took to read. Crazy thing is...I’ll probably keep reading the series. Because as much as I haven’t been on the Devney Perry cheer squad, she has managed to create enough interest in the other characters who have gotten their own stories, that I’m curious to know what their deal is. I guess I need to give Ms. Perry props for that, at least...

It may just be me, but as much as I want to love this author’s books as much as everyone else out there, things are just not working out for me. I will say that I enjoyed this one more than The Coppersmith Chapel, and I liked where Nick and Emmeline were at in the end, but there were too many things in between that just had me going ‘eh’.

I actually liked the very beginning, it’s insta-love at it’s best and it worked for me. I thought the Mason storyline was quite interesting and really wish that it had been the main focus of the book outside of the romance arc. But that’s kinda where things ended for me. The whole reason for Nick ditching her and her not absolving their marriage had me rolling my eyes, I mean, I got it, but still. And then there is the whole situation with Emmeline’s “Bestie”...ummm...no. Just. No. That whole sitch did not work for me, even though things did get interesting in the end with her.

As I said, I want to love this author in the same way that I’ve seen other readers love her, but things just aren’t working out that way, so I’m just going to say I tried and leave it at that.

This ARC came as a surprise, since I was approved for it a LONG time after I requested it and many months after its release. Unfortunately, I couldn't get behind the hero's actions, since he turned out to be a little too "alpha" for my taste, so this wasn't the right book for me.

Great second chance at love story, with the right amount of angst to make it seem believable. The chemistry between Nick and Emmie is just as hot in this story as it was when got to see them when they were in Vegas. This has the right amount of emotion.

I was not particularly fond of this book as I was with the 1st one. I thought that Nick’s reason for leaving just made him a coward instead of taking a chancing and sticking around to make things work between him and Emmeline. Also if Emmeline had no trouble having a relationship with another man and even a live in boyfriend, why not just go ahead with a divorce. Nick too sleeping with other women and saying he was still in love with his wife, not reliable at all. I am not a fan of insta-love and the too many years that they spent apart. Distance makes the heart grow fonder but after a while, feelings fade. Love can’t grow in absence.

I really liked this book
It a heart-warming second chance story. I lived the way the story developed and the characters are charming. This is the second installment of what may become a favorite series. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion in this review

This is one of those books I took so long to getting around to reading and then when I finally did I was like “Why did I wait so long??” I really have no answer, I’m really not sure why , I have read one other book by Devney Perry and really enjoyed it so assumed I would this as well. My only thought is maybe I struggled with the prologue because I did start and stop so many times before I got past that initial point but then as soon I was into the book properly it was full steam ahead. I think maybe I didn’t initially relate to the characters or this quick connection they had or maybe because I knew what was coming and my hopeless romantic heart couldn’t take it? Who knows.
Anyway once I was past that point I really was immersed in the story. I loved the deep once-in-a-lifetime-love they both felt for each other. It really was such a strong connection and you can see it really was stronger than the bother of them. I could appreciate where Emmeline was coming from with her hesitance and caution having once already given her heart completely and been so trusting only to end up heartbroken and devastated. I think what I did really like was that you could appreciate both perspectives. Because Nick is absolutely gorgeous and not only did he obviously think he was doing the right thing but you can see how much he loved Emmy and never got over her, he just never thought he’d have another chance.
There was just enough suspense with the story and having the different possibilities at play really did keep me guessing right to the end. I thought the author did a good job of this because she gave you just enough to know something wasn’t quite right still even towards the end but not enough to really be certain how.
Having taken so long to start this I’ll definitely be jumping into the next in the series. This story was a sweet, humorous and suspenseful book and I would recommend it.

I love everything Devney Perry writes and she has become one of my favorite authors. THE CLOVER CHAPEL is an emotional story with characters that pulled on my heartstrings. It has all the elements I love in a good story; engaging characters, a passionate story filled with suspense and a feisty female and an alpha male. I also love the small town setting filled with entertaining characters.

Emmaline and Nick first meet in Las Vegas and they impulsively decide to get married after having a few too many drinks. When Nick leaves the following morning, without telling Emmaline, he breaks her heart. They meet again nine years later, when Emmaline moves and starts a new job as a teacher in the same town as Nick.

Nick has never forgotten Emmaline and he knows he made a mistake when he left her nine years ago. He will not let this second opportunity slip by and he does everything in his power to convince Emmaline they should be together. I love how Nick never gives up on Emmaline. He is patient with Emmaline and willing to do whatever it takes to convince her she can trust him again.

Even though Emmaline comes from a wealthy family, she is down to earth and wants to live a simple life free of people who are fake. I found it easy to like Emmaline and sympathize with her. Nick broke her heart and she is afraid to let down her guard and trust him again. I loved this heartwarming story.

This is the 2nd book in the Jamison Valley series. This is fast becoming a favorite series.
Rich girl meets fire chief in Vegas and things happen quite quickly but turns into a one night stand. Explanations reveal circumstances.
Emotional and heartwarming. Second chances.

I read Perry's debt novel (and first in this series) last year and while there were parts I enjoyed, there was much left to be desired. I was hoping The Clover Chapel would showcase the growth and development typical of a sophomore novel. Unfortunately I felt the same way toward this as I did about The Coppersmih Farmhouse.

Nick and Emmy were very one dimensional sketches of what their characters' true potential could be. I found both to be annoying and never really understood why they fell for each other in the first place. This reads like a second chance romance; however, their "first chance" was a total of 5 drunken hours in Vegas ending in a marriage based on a dare. Nick is gone the following morning and while his reasons are later exposed, honestly who care because five hours of knowing someone doesn't make the two of them pining for each other for nine years worth it.

Once they are reunited Nick struggles to make Emmy fall back in love with him, although honestly she didn't put up much of a fight. Up to this point I was still willing to forego the improbability of knowing who your soulmate is within five hours. But what follows is basically a repeat of the previous novel with a few details changed to make it seem new and exciting. There's this forced level of suspense that was wholly unnecessary. I would instead have loved to have seen Nick and Emmy actually get to know each other and build a strong and lasting foundation on something other than lust (which let's be real, is all a drunken few hours in Vegas can provide).

Perry seems to be a favorite among contemporary romance lovers, but I think I will be passing on her future books.

Great read! This is part of the Jamison Valley series, but stands alone. But definitely worth checking out the rest of the books in the series. The book is very well written with great characters and story.

This was a great second chance romance. I really enjoyed it. I was totally swooning through the whole book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Let me start off by saying I have already read this entire series and I am now on a re-read... with that being said, I think you notice different things when you read a book again. I still LOVE this one and HIGHLY recommend it!!!
(This is book 2 in this series, but if you want to read just this one, I think you can read it on its own.)

Emmeline and Nick met in Las Vegas, fell in love and became married all in one day. However, poor Emmy wakes up the next morning to find Nick gone and a later saying 'Sorry'. What a butt, right?
Years later, Emmy moves to Montana where she runs into Nick. (Small world!) And guess what, they are still married since Emmy never filed for divorce. Nick decides he isn't letting her go again. Too bad Emmy has a boyfriend of several years.

Can these two stay married? Or will they go there separate ways?
Read the book to find out. :)
