Polly is a sweet little goat who is blind. She is adopted by a kind woman who plays with her and wraps her in blankets for cuddles, but she gets very anxious sometimes, so her owner comes up with a creative and adorable solution. This is based on a true story of a real baby goat and the tale of her rescue. The illustrations are very sweet and have a vintage Little Golden Book feel. If you haven't read this already (or even if you have!) the official GOA Youtube channel did a read-aloud of this book, featuring POLLY herself!

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

GOA Kids - Goats of Anarchy: The Goat with Many Coats: A True Story of a Little Goat Who Found a New Home by Leanne Lauricella tells the true story of Prospect, a small goat rescued by Leanne Lauricella, the barnyard rescuer behind the hugely popular Instagram account Goats of Anarchy. The perfect tale to inspire and delight animal lovers, The Goat with Many Coats pairs beautiful illustrations and real-life photos of Prospect the goat with a truly heartwarming tale readers of all ages will adore.

These picturebooks tell heartwarming stories from the point of view of the young rescued goats. They are both adorable and heart warming

stories about a rescued goat whose life was made better. I loved the solution of a small, chilly goat being coats and an anxious goat being a duck costume. I had no idea coats (and other accessories) were available for goats, or maybe they ones intended for kids or dogs? In both cases the artwork is very reminiscent of the classic Golden Books that I remember from my childhood, making the read even sweeter. I love the work that Lauricella does to rescue animals, and to both raise awareness and entertain us all with the stories of her rescue adventures. These are wonderful books for animal lovers in general, animal rescuers, fans of the instagram account, and those that just love books that leave them with the warm fuzzies.

5 stars.
Omg this was SOOOOO CUTE I just want to jump up and down and clap like a little kid! This was way too adorable! The baby goat was just like a baby human, needing human comforts and feeling worry, scared and anxious. And THE BEST PART is that its a TRUE STORY! There are even photos in the back of the book from the author. I would definitely recommend this!!

At first glance, this is a fairly niche book. It's a sweet little story with soft, almost pastel illustrations, about a goat who overcomes fear. In other words, a book for little kids. What makes it multi-age is the last few pages, which detail the true story of Polly and the other rescue goats.

Goats of Anarchy: Polly and Her Duck Costume by Leanne Lauricella is a touching story of a sweet little blind goat who was rescued and loved (by the author). The illustrations are retro vintage, and the story is gentle, loving, and kind. My mom had a goat when I was a toddler, and my brother and niece both raise goats, so the topic interested me. The author rescued Polly the blind goat, others like her, as well as other animals. I love the actual photos at the end of the book that show the real Polly and her friends. Perfect for libraries, giving to goat lovers, story time, nature centers, school libraries. This review is written in my own style in return for the privilege of reading this sweet book thanks to netgalley.com.

I received a copy for review from NetGalley. Sometimes a child's book comes along and takes you by surprise. This is that book. We start out learning about Polly the goat . Polly is in the barn and very scared. . One day "mom" came to take her home with her. The little goat being still scared let mom wrap her in a yellow blanket. Whenever mom put the yellow blanket her it would stay for a little while but then fall off. Mom came up with a new idea... a duck costume. It would stay on and it was warm. . One day Polly realizes something laying beside her. She smells the air and figures quickly it is another baby goat. This goat's name is Pippa! Pippa is like Polly in the way she has a disability too! . Once Polly outgrows her duck costume they give it to Pippa so she can be warm and safe and Polly got a big goat size costume. I love this book for it has a couple of rescue goats and you fall in love with them instantly to talks openly about disabilities and in the back of the book you get to "meet" Polly, Pippa, and their mom.

This is the true story of Polly, a little rescue goat who happens to be blind. It's a great way to introduce to children the concept of people (and animals) having differences and not being perfect. It's such a lovely, warm-hearted story about Polly settling into her new home, becoming more comfortable and happy, and eventually meeting a new friend, another rescue goat. It's also very touching in the way that it addresses friendship in a very positive way. The illustrations are adorable too - on the whole, what a fantastic book!

Polly was a small scare little blind goat until she was adopted. It took her adopted mama to break her out of her shell, by dressing her in a duck costume. This is a lovely story, and somewhat true. The real life pictures in the end make a fitting conclusion to the story.

This book is the first book from Goats of Anarchy: a charity for farm animals (primarily goats) who have been rescued for various reasons. This is a true story of Polly, a blind goat who was comforted when wrapped in a blanket. By accident, Leanne Lauracella (the owner of the farm), found out that Polly's anxiety was reduced when she was wearing the duck costume she bought her for Hallowe'en. Apparently this has been all over Facebook and Instagram, but I have never seen it. As Polly becomes more comfortable in her new home, she meets a friend Pippa, another rescued goat. This is a great story about friendship, responsibility and respect to animals, as well as the rewards and successes of animal rescue. The story is simplified for children. As another reviewer mentioned, the illustrations are wonderful. They do remind me of The Little Golden Books I read as a child. At the end of the book are actual photos of Polly and her friends as well as a short explanation of the farm and Polly's difficulties. If you love animals, want to support animal rescue or introduce children to the plight of animals with problems, then read this book. A great addition to any library, family, public or school. I will watch for more books from GOA.

There are a few books that you just kind of "know" what rating you're going to give it, and when you have adorable art much like a Little Golden Book, a true heartwarming story, and a goat wearing a duck costume, you simply can't go wrong. This book is the first book from Goats of Anarchy: a charity for farm animals (primarily goats) who are abused or are differently abled that I have been following for awhile now (before the Grace incident, but a little after Polly), and enjoy the work Leanne does for them. The book is a true simplified story of Polly, a little blind goat who is adopted and is comforted by wearing a duck costume (that many of us have seen all over Facebook and the news, and if not, I highly recommend you do) until she has a friend named Pippa. Like I said earlier, the art is fantastic and adorable, and the story is bound to garner a few new fans of GOA. overall, I highly recommend the book if you love goats, feel-good stories, or even GOA.

I am a massive follower of Goats of Anarchy on Facebook, so when I saw that they had a book coming out about Polly, I had to read it! This book did not disappoint! The artwork, the (true!) story, everything was just perfect and adorable. Highly recommended to anyone who loves goats and fallen in love with the little goat in a duck costume!

The vintage style illustrations drew me to this book, but then I saw that it was about one of the goats from Goats of Anarchy (of Instagram fame) and I knew I had to know more. My kids (6 and 3) loved Polly and related well to her story, this is a great book to help children develop and foster empathy and understanding for animals, especially animals in need like Polly. The illustrations were a perfect match for this story and all three of us were swooning over the adorable pictures of Polly. The book is well written with simple passages, it was a very straightforward story that engaged my young readers throughout. Polly even overcomes some of her dependencies and grows as a character.

My kids were fascinated that Polly's story is true and they were so excited to see photos of her at the end of the book. I appreciated that Leanne gives more details about Polly's life. In addition, this book served to humanize Leanne Lauricella who I have only known through the cold lens of social media. Polly's story was a softer glimpse into the lives of the Goats of Anarchy and Lauricella is again revealed to be an incredibly kind-hearted friend for animals.

I was originally going to give this one 4 stars, but because of the sheer number of times my kids have asked to read this book I shall award it another star. I'll be picking this one up when it comes out!
