I enjoyed this book but it took me a while to get into it. I don't think at the time of reading I was in the best frame-of-mind to start it, but that's on me! I did enjoy the flashbacks and the present tense writing. I also really enjoyed Coco as a character and I felt really strongly for her. I plan on rereading this book in the future to see if I can get more into the book.
Hospital High is a great book which I would recommend. Personally, for me, I plan on rereading again in the future to see if I can get into it deeper!

While there are small bits within the story such as how Coco described things and people, but other than that I enjoyed the story. I related to Coco when it came to connecting with people and having problems with friends which I liked (and who had the same feelings about high school)

This book made me cry on public transport.... Amazing tale that felt very true to life. I really connected to her and her struggle through high school whilst undergoing treatment.

The story centres on Coco, who, after a car accident, has to come to grips with a mangled larynx. This hits especially hard because she previously had high hopes for a career as a singer. In the hospital, she endures multiple surgeries to repair her damaged throat, none of which work as well as expected, and over the course of her treatment she comes to grips with many aspects of herself.

I cried at the end, Coco had me captivated throughout. I sympathised with her, longed for her to get better, and at one point where I had lost my own voice, totally felt her pain. A good read but somewhat wordy!

This book was really refreshing, though sometimes I was a bit impatient. Especially at the beginning since there are a lot of flashbacks. But I guess the anticipation is good!

Review copy provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was so relatable and emotional. I can't think of much to say about this one, I'm still processing my feelings. Did you ever experience trauma and just want to give up? That's what this story is..it may be a hard read if you've been there..

Have you ever been through something so severely traumatic that you didn't know or maybe didn't want to know how to come back from it? You will relate. When Coco is severely injured in a car accident and wakes up after coding in the hospital, she's mad. She wishes they'd let her go where she'd felt at peace with no pain rather than pull her back to this hell she's going through. She's touched that everyone is thinking of her and sending her cards, but not before she's upset that her friend isn't in the hospital bed next to her. Worst of all, she's horrified to learn she may not be able to ever sing again. This book is well written and full of humor but also a lot of real pain and struggle. I loved every minute of it.

Although initially enticed by the blurb for 'Hospital High', I struggled to get into the book and lost the enthusiasm to persevere. Sorry.

I received an ARC ebook from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

4 out of 5 stars.

HOSPITAL HIGH is quite the ride. I love the writing style and the main character's struggles, which are the author's real life experiences. However, there were places, mainly at the beginning, where the story deviated to very long flashbacks. Thus, I got a little impatient because I wanted to know more about Coco.

Also, the novel felt a bit "thick." Meaning, it could've used a good editorial trim.

Other than that, HOSPITAL HIGH is a great story that showcases how strong people can be if they want to. Kudos to that.

This is a wonderful, yet different, story than I'm used to. I enjoyed most of it but some of the characters I hated and towards the end, it began to be boring. It's definitely not something I see a lot and I was thankful for that. If you want to read something new and interesting and kind of one-of-a-kind, I recommend this book.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of HOSPITAL HIGH in exchange for my honest review.

What a great YA novel. I am always in search of books in the YA genre that do not fall into the fantasy category. It is nice to have some variety for the younger folks (or an easier read for us older ones) that has a little something different. Written in the tune of a memoir, as it is based on a true story, it follows her through dying, and then learning to relive after such a traumatic even at a young age, one that affected her talents and dreams. Some of it was gut wrenching, some was lighthearted, and all of it was enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this book as a YA read for all ages.

Not my type of book, I tried to start it but just couldn't get into anything about this book!

This is one of my must reads for this year. The story of a young girl and her fight to regain her voice after a car accident is truly amazing. The author grabs your attention and doesn't let go. I read it in less than two days and still find myself thinking about the tale, which is based on a true story. Highly recommended for teen readers.

An interesting story and well written. It was worth a read but not my favourite book ever.
