Since I did not finish this book , I will not review or post a review elsewhere . I realized too late that this is the third book in a series. I am still interested in reading it but prefer to read the others first . Thanks for the opportunity. I am forced by this system to give it a star rating which is difficult to do since I have not read it so I will give it three stars .

This was a well done historical fiction book with a lot of twists and turns. This is the third book in the Widow Walk series and the first one that I read. I wish I had read the first two but I was able to figure out what was going on anyway. I think I would have understood some parts slightly better if I had read the other two. This made me laugh and cry. This is definitely not a feel good book. This tells it like it was during the Civil War. I like that. The characters are all very interesting. Some you like throughout and others you grow to love. I received a copy of this book from Smith Publicity through Netgalley for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This is the third book in LaSalle's Widow Walk saga which tells and oft-ignored side of the Civil War - the action that takes place in the Pacific Northwest and regions of the country other than the major battles on the East Coast, though this book does focus on that main area of fighting as we catch up with Emmy as she decides if she wants to build a life with the Dr., IF they can even come together as he's caught up in the Confederate fighting.
