Sadly didn't love this book. I couldn't get to grips with the writing style, though I did think that the plot was intriguing. Many thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review.

The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer is a cracking thriller with plenty of action and keeps the reader thoroughly entertained and gripped.

This author is so talented! So far whatever book I picked by her was fantastic! This is her latest book which I was excited to read, but for some reason it didn't felt as good as I expected! I had high expectations for this one, There’s no real speculative element here, other than perhaps some new developments in chemical. The concept was interesting but I didn't feel connected with the characters 100%.

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for giving me a copy of this book to review. I was intrigued by this having read the Twilight series, and later The Host, many years ago. I read The Host off the back of Twilight, when I was perhaps a little young to appreciate the genre. Whilst I enjoyed it as a book, I couldn't get into it as much as I had hoped - although I intend to reread it soon. However, some years on, and a much bigger fan of thrillers, I was excited to see that Meyer had written another adult book. This was on a completely different level to the Twilight books, and a cracking page-turner. I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Chemist, and can't wait to see what will come next!

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Wow what a brilliant book have now recommended to loads of people that are readers in the office where I work. Totally not what I thought it would be. Highly recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this new novel from Stephanie Meyer, author of the Twilight series which I read avidly a few years ago.
This is a completely different type of book, an action thriller with an unusual heroine called Alex who has been on the run for a few years after her job with a secret government department went wrong and they tried to kill her. Alex is a doctor and"chemist", using her unusual skill set to stay alive and keep one step ahead of her enemies. One day she is asked to do a last job in exchange for her life. However
things do not work out as planned and Alex has to continue to run and fight back along with some unexpected allies.
This is also a romance which Meyer is good at writing about- think of Edward and Bella in Twilight. The Chemist is another love story against the odds and the reader is wondering how on earth it is all going to work out with everything stacked against the lovers.
Alex is a great heroine, full of clever tricks she uses to stay alive, a bit like a female James Bond and Q all rolled into one! She's definitely the sort of person that likes her gadgets and Meyer takes great delight in describing all her tricks.
This is a well written and researched book with some amusing twists which ease the relentless tension and violence. I loved the dogs- Einstein and Lola who had their own almost human characters.
I don't want to reveal too much here as it will spoil the story but suffice it to say that this is a compelling read that had me on the edge of my seat.
I totally loved the Twilight series and I'm hoping that the wonderful array of characters in The Chemist will make it into another book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my Arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick, easy read. I don't use the term beach read often but i think it definitely describes this book. It's the authors first attempt at writing an adult book and i think it shows. She does how ever have potential and i'll be interested to read her next book.

This won't be to everyone's taste, and it might well be that there's nothing particularly original about the idea/characters...but it doesn't stop it being a cracking read.

I have never read a Twilight book.so had no preconceptions and read this book on its merit. The bomb maker comes out of hiding to trap somebody for the people who were trying to kill her but they double cross her. She then teams up with the people she was trapping to turn the tables on them. Although it had its moments I felt the story dragged on. It could easily have bees shortened to make it a better book. What could have been said well in 50 words would sometimes take hundreds. It isn't a bad book but just not the type of story for me.

Yes I've read Twilight, no I haven't read The Host but I was in the mood for something with bite ( please pardon the bad pun) and the synopsis for this sounded unusual. Add in the fact that I had spotted several truly awful reviews and I definitely wanted to read this myself.
Alex is a woman of many faces. She's an incredibly driven chemist and her talents have been used by the secretive CIA to interrogate prisoners. Yet in that shady hidden world no one is truly safe as the secrets they are exposed to can come reverberating back with deadly consequences. The Alex we meet is hiding, on the run and her lonely existence made her feel a little disconnected with the everyday thoughts that most of us are obsessed with. Alex has tried staying under the radar but still assasins find her but she's prepared to use deadly force. When she gets hope that perhaps her life isn't forfeit anymore Alex jumps at the chance of just one more case and then she's home free. Can Alex really trust the information she's given or is this an elaborate hoax with her the victim?
Alex is a hard character to instantly like but I understood the terrible situation she found herself in. Alone with no allies and yet the author thrusts her into a situation that most definitely humanises her. It's perhaps a slow start but the two men who become an intrinsic part of Alex freeing herself are very different and yet perhaps not! No spoilers here but Daniel and Kevin have an unusual relationship themselves that actually added greatly as it brought a lighter note to the proceedings, plus if you are a dog lover this story will be a joy to read. This is a thriller and yes there's a romantic element but honestly when it comes to sexual content it's very tame. I really enjoyed this story and it made such a change to have a female as a seriously creative not to mention dangerous protagonist.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are my honest and I believe fair opinion

Thank you very much for the opportunity to read this book. Unfortunately, I couldn't get on with it, I found it to be a little tedious and couldn't bond with the main character or really understand her purpose or the purpose of the premise. For that reason I did not finish this book. Thank you again for the opportunity and I look forward to further titles in future.
