Interesting read even though it was originally released over 30 years ago. It was fun to revisit the 1980s. Nora Roberts novels have become more complex over time with more mystery and stronger characters but this was still a good read. I did, however, find the constant change in point of view to be somewhat confusing, but as always with a Nora Roberts book, the story telling is wonderful.

This is a straightforward Nora Roberts romance book, reissued from 1987. Like all Nora Roberts books, it's well written and has a distinct plot aside from the romance aspect. Although there isn't as much romance, and more sex, than I expected. It's a traditional boy meets girl, boy and girl clash, boy and girl fall in love. It's not as good as her more recent work, but it has been 20 years. It's a little bland, the characters didn't have a whole lot of personality, and their characters were fairly stereotyped. But it is a quick read and sticks to the 1980's romance formula.

Had a LOT of trouble getting started with this book. The first character I was introduced to was good but as soon as lawyers or agents came into play it was rough for me. Eventually worked through that and it was a decent enough story. Mindset was thrown off early though so that might have skewed the rest of the story.

Nora Roberts has definitely improved in the last twenty years. Reading her older work with the ‘this was probably progressive before I was born’ gender roles was extremely cringe-y

A reissue, but still a great read!…

A.J Fields aka Aurora is one tough cookie, but deep inside I was so happy to discover that there was a softer side to this heroine. A.J has made a success in the agent biz, but her biggest client is also her mother. Aurora has built a solid wall to guard her heart, so why was it so easy to penetrate said wall by one annoying producer?

David Brady lives to produce documentaries, his latest is going to be a true hit, all he needs to do is convince the amazing sexy Miss. Fields that he only wanted the best for her client. Even though Aurora intrigues him as much as A.J Fields, David is not sure if it all is a risk he is willing to take.

Sparks flew from the first handshake; the question is will either David or A.J do anything about it? A.J has issues with what David truly wants from her client. In her experience people wanted to use her client for their own reasons. David on the other hand did not plan to exploit A. J’s client, just use her knowledge of the paranormal world.

The supporting characters aided in lending an interesting twist to Mind Over Matter without, out shining the hero and heroine but I will admit for me Clarissa DeBasse is without a doubt an interesting character.

Mind Over Matter is an interesting romance read that kept me glued to the pages cover to cover. Nora Roberts kept the plot moving as well as placing some interesting moments between both level of characters. Mind Over Matter is a reissue of an early Nora Roberts, where I think she was discovering the knack of adding paranormal to her genre list. I for one can say she made it. *grins*

I really love all Nora Roberts books. But I find her earlier ones hard to read when the heroin smokes. This really annoys me and takes away my enjoyment in the book.

I didn't realise how romantic this book would be and I didn't enjoy the paranormal undertones. It wasn't the book for me, unfortunately

This book delves into the world of paranormal psychology, something I’ve always been admittedly cynical about. I chose to read it anyway because of the author- hello, Nora Roberts!- and I’m glad I did.

David Brady is a documentary director with plenty of charisma and the idea that love is not for him. He meets A.J. Fields, a tough as nails agent to the stars, and is bowled over.

A.J. doesn’t have time for love. She’s spent her life caring for her slightly flaky mother, Clarissa, now she’s focused on making the business she’s built up from the ground the very best it can be.

When Clarissa is approached to be part of David’s documentary, A.J. is naturally worried for her famous client and keeps an eagle eye on the proceedings, which brings her closer to David than she’s comfortable with and triggers her own psychic dreams.

The chemistry leaps off the page between these two and made the story for me. I love the author’s talent at bringing characters to life in such a way you feel you could meet them on the street.

I give Mind Over Matter 4 lovely kisses

This is a reissue of an older book by Nora Roberts. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I believe she has grown tremendously as a writer since it was written. David and Aurora were great characters and I enjoyed seeing them get to know one another and develop a relationship. I loved how protective Aurora was of her mother. The storyline was interesting and provided an enjoyable reading experience.

A great re-read of an older Nora Roberts tale, with a pleasant new packing.

Meh. The hero was arrogant and presumptuous and the heroine was weak. Blergh. I liked Clarissa, Alex needed more developing, and I didn't really care if AJ and David got their HEA.

This is one of Nora Robert's first books published by Silhouette in 1987. It's fun to read now with no cell phones and people actually had to visit and arrange times to call and meet. I'm sure I read this book when it first came out. The romance is still good with Aurora protecting her psychic mother when producer David wants to produce a documentary on ESP phenomenon. One glaring sign of the times is the hero smoked, almost unheard of today.

I have a love/don't love so much relationship with Nora Robert's books. Her books either capture my attention from page one and have me turning the pages as fast as I can or she fails to grab my attention and I just feel MEH...This is one of the times I feel Meh about her books. Mind over Matter has be re-released in 2017 . It was first published in 1987 and and I am not quite sure why it has been re-released. Another reason I was not so impressed with this book - the complete title is Mind over Matter a Passionate and Intriguing Novel of suspense. UMMMM...what suspense? I guess it depends on one's definition of suspense.

Mind over Matter is a romance book with some paranormal elements thrown in. I know I am doing some fan fiction when I say I would have liked the book more if it were a mystery using a psychic with some romance thrown in. This was not the case with this book.

David Brady is a documentary producer who needs a psychic to be in his documentary on paranormal psychology. He meets and instantly forms a friendship with Clarissa, a woman with psychic abilities who has helped solve crimes in the past. Clarissa makes a comment in passing about a romance David will enter and that he will need tenderness to make the relationship work.

David then meets Clarissa's agent A.J. (Aurora) Fields who just happens to be Clarissa's daughter. As with romance novels sparks fly and each is intrigued and drawn to the other. A.j. instantly puts up a barrier due to pain from a previous breakup and a secret she is hiding. Both David and A.J. are strong characters and David believes that A.J. is using her tough exterior to hide something from him. As he goes about trying to figure out what that may be their romance ignites.

As I stated this book was just MEH for me. I think the story and romance could have been fleshed out more and I just did not see how this book was suspenseful at all. Her writing is good which is why I went with three stars and not two. Okay book - not for me.

I received a copy of this book from Harlequin and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

AN oldie but a five star book to be sure from Roberts, the best fiction/romance author on the market today! A little mystery, a little of the paranormal and who lot of romance and heat and this is another title that delivers on all the points I look for in a book" character, plot, story telling and dialogue that sounds as if I'm hearing it said in my head.
As a Netgalley arc, it was a pleasure to read this and review it.

In Mind Over Matter a hardworking theatrical agent meets her match in a producer who isn’t afraid to knock down the walls she has around her heart. A.J. Fields has worked for years to become one of the most successful agents in Hollywood. She’s smart and has a spine of steel, so when David Brady wants to use psychic Clarissa DeBasse – A.J.’s most important client – in his new documentary, A.J. isn’t about to be bowled over by the handsome producer. Sparks fly immediately between A.J. and David, but A.J. doesn’t mix business with pleasure and those walls she has around herself are because she has been hurt repeatedly in the past. I liked the combination of strength and vulnerability in her and author Nora Roberts made it understandable why A.J. would be reluctant to open her heart to David. David is used to being demanding in his work life and noncommittal in his personal life, but the longer he’s around A.J., the more he finds his attitude toward relationships changing. She isn’t at all his type, but of course she knocks him for a loop. The two of them play off one another really well professionally and personally. Because they’re both hard-headed and flawed, they make mistakes in their burgeoning relationship, which I actually liked because it added a level of realism to the story.

Mind Over Matter was first published in 1987 and while there are things that date it (fashion, technology, some attitudes, etc.), for the most part it holds up really well. The style of this book isn’t as smooth as Ms. Roberts’s later work – the swift point of view changes took a bit of getting used to – but it’s still an enjoyable read and the romance is satisfying. All in all, I found Mind Over Matter to be a good comfort read fans of Nora Roberts are sure to like.

This was a classic NR book. The strong characters who are both good looking and talented and resistant to falling in love. This seems to be a reissue so I'm not sure why it's on the site . I would take out the smoking parts to make it more contemporary

Another great stand alone romantic suspense from Ms. Roberts. Enjoyed the read totally. Her stand alone suspense are my favorite.

One of my favorites from Nora Roberts. I love that the paranormal aspects don't take over the story, since I don't like paranormal romance. NR has a unique writing style that I've always loved.

It’s always a pleasure reading Nora Roberts and I will honestly admit that I can be totally biased where she is concerned. And in my opinion, no reviews can do justice to her stories.

“Mind Over Matter” is a republish and it is very nice visiting her characters, David Brady and A.J. Fields, total opposites that destiny seems to bring them together. David’s search for a psychic to star in his paranormal documentary brings him to A.J. Fields, an agent. As they pit against each other during the interviews and the filming, sparks flare and so does love.

Nora Roberts is a master at weaving stories of intrigue and passion. Her flair of writing needs to be read to enjoy her art and every time I read an intimate scene in her books, it is a rhythm of passion and a lyric of love. I loved Aurora Fields as she tries to fend the attraction for David, and David himself is a worthy character of her love. Add in a couple of surprises and “Mind Over Matter” is a pleasure read of suspense, love and family.
