Do you believe in angels, those mythical creatures that appear in almost every culture in the world and almost all religions known to the mankind? Do you believe there is a world we can't see with our own eyes, but whose power we can feel, if we choose to allow it? Do you believe in the invisible force that gives us guidance and unconditional love?

Chrissie Astell is a well-known British author and educator in the field of spirituality, and she works with angels. She published several books about those spiritual creatures and she also hosts workshops on spiritual growth and development. Although her popularity is based on the success of her work and the alleged intuitive abilities she has developed, Chrissie's work is also confirmed by her higher education in the areas of comparative religions and adult development and education. Of course, her work, including this book, belongs to the area of self-help culture. So, if you don't like things like that, maybe you should skip this book.

Personally I'm not a big fan of self-help culture, but in recent years a few of those titles were among the books I decided to read, and for the most part I did not regret this decision. I have decided to try some of the suggested elements, and many of them I still use today, even not very frequently. However, I am not a person who spends time meditating every day (although I do not doubt that such a practice would sometimes come in handy) because I have not had the need to strictly stick to any method. Nevertheless, since I read "Geometry of the Divine Spark" by Serena Alba, which opened my eyes to certain problems that many of us find everyday, I admit, my mind is so much more open (or, it's better to say - not so skeptical as before) to the methods of the spiritual growth. Now, after reading this book, I can say it learned me something more about spirituality and gave me some new informations about the methods I thought I know well.

Chrissie Astell informes us about angelic energy and positive changes that can enter into our lives. Throughout the seven steps, we learn about the various exercises about the approach to the seven Archangels: the Archangel Gabriel, who makes it easier for us to create new beginnings, to the Archangel Jophiel to find inspiration, to Michael for the protection, to Rafael for healing, to Chamuel to develop love for yourself, to Zadkiel to embrace the joy and changes, and ultimately to the Archangel Uriel to achieve peace in yourselves and in the world around you. Astrell gives us a wealth of information that can help you achieve the intended goals and tools that will make your journey easier.

As with any other similar literature, you will accept something, agree with something, and drop something completely if it does not fit your way of thinking and acquired personal views. That's exactly what I liked about Chrissie Astell, which I have rarely seen in a similar literature. The author gives us some kind of warning that we do not exaggerate, that there is a limit when the practice of such methods can become useless, turned into superstitions, as well as advice that in the case of major life problems her methods may not be enough, so you should seek some expert's help; doctors, psychiatrists, or other types of staff who will be professionally devoted to your case, and not to trust the unlimited power of the methods she uses in this book. That tells us something about her common sense and a contact with reality (as opposed to a number of "life coaches" whose euphoria becomes pretty irritating after a short period of time), that is such a refreshment in self-help literature, one that deserves special attention and praise.

Astell simply claims that your life may not astonishingly turn into a perfection, as you may imagine at the beginning, but that even the smallest opening to the practices that aim to attain inner peace is enough to bring something new and positive that will make your everyday life more beautiful. There, in such realistic goals, I decide to believe. Maybe I don't meditate and spin my chakras everyday, maybe I still don't imagine angels visiting us every day and giving us their energy and light, but I will always choose to let something positive (maybe even some magic) enter my everyday life. Happiness is in the small things, as they say.

Having only recently had my eyes opened to Angels and spirituality I was interested to read this book. It is very informative and easy to read and I will be referring back to it and doing the seven steps.
