I loved Ophelia and Colin's story. Ophelia finally comes into her own and I loved seeing her have her own adventure. This book is a good read. I would suggest reading the other two books in the series prior to reading this one. Once you start you won't want to put it down.

It is finally Ophelia's turn to emerge from the shadows of her 2 best friends to find her own adventure and her chance at love.

Colin Parnell certainly physically resembles the hero from Ophelia's current novel but it is his personality and heart that win her over as she willingly joins in his search for the truth of his grandfather's history. Was he a smuggler or a man secretly working in the dark for the benefit of king and country? Colin hopes for the latter for the sake of his grandmother Molly but at this point he just wants to find the truth to put the older woman's mind at ease.

Speaking of Molly- what a firecracker! She is a colorful creature to say the least between her language and her superstitions including her belief Ophelia's red hair is the mark of the devil. Surprisingly her history is entwined with none other than Abercorn's sister Sissy in a feud dating back to the years before Molly married Colin's grandfather, and that history will eventually lead to the truth of Tilda's death being revealed as well.

Ophelia found herself at the same time she found love and her place in the world, and her story was a great end to the series.

I thought I'd love this book but sadly it was a real miss for me.

Lady Ophelia’s story is the perfect ending to the Undaunted Debutantes series and worth the wait. Ophelia, like many of us, loves her books; so much so, she missed the death of her close friend Tilda with her nose in her current book. Edith, Luci and Ophelia have been determined to prove Lord Abercorn caused the death of his new wife and their friend, Tilda, by pushing her down the staircase on their wedding night. While following Abercorn, Ophelia sees the man of her dreams, Colin, Lord Hawke.

Colin could be the man of any woman’s dreams. The character trait I appreciated most about him was his loyalty to his family, mostly to his grandmother. He is willing to go against his father in order to help his grandmother find peace in her old age, causing some discord in the family. But, he believes it will bring more peace than upset, even if his father is against him unraveling the family baggage. Colin’s grandmother believes it important to find a book that will exonerate her deceased husband as a sort of hero for the crown and not just a smuggler of old.

Molly, Colin’s grandmother, was a great secondary character. She added a lot of spice and energy to Ophelia’s story. Her ‘old’ ways are mystical and ‘superstitious’ adding to her persona. And, most people are a little bit afraid of her.

Ophelia seems to always be in the background of her two friends even more so now that they have had their adventures and found their loves. Ophelia is determined to assist Colin against her own father once she realizes her father has the book of which Colin is hunting. Thus, beginning on her own ‘adventure.’

Lord Abercorn is still the ‘villain’ of the final book in the trilogy. Admittedly, the ending was not what I was expecting, which makes it all the more enjoyable to be surprised.

Although you can read this book as a stand-alone; if you have not read the first two books, go back and read in succession. You will love them. Christina McKnight is a talented writer with writing a mystery inside of a mystery. Also, I appreciated the innocent aspect of just kisses to keep you involved in the book and not distracted by a sensual relationship.

The Misadventure of Lady Ophelia by Christina McKnight
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
AHHH!! It all comes together in the end!!!
If you haven’t read this series in order then STOP and start at book 1. You need to read all three of the Lady’s stories of finding love and finding who murdered their dear friend.
I don’t know why but I was so excited for Ophelia. Maybe it’s because she is the shy one? Maybe because she is a bookie like me? Maybe it’s because a shy red-head is never the way red heads are written about? I don’t know but I was so excited for her book and to find her HEA.
Each story begins and recaps what each girl was doing when they discovered their friend murdered on her wedding night. When this book begins, Ophelia is left alone while her friends run off to get married. She is happy but sad. She is wishing the best but lonely as all can be. When she spies a man desperately in need of a book who then shows up to talk to her father her need to know factor kicks in big time.
Colin and his grandmama Molly are looking to clear his family name. They want everyone to know the truth about his dear grandpapa. When Molly starts to cuss out poor Ophelia he is enchanted by this beauty and dearly embarrassed by his grandmama. Fyi,,,,Molly made the book for me. Her spitting and cussing was hilarious!!!!!!
The couple, with Molly’s matchmaking, are thrown into an inappropriate adventure together to find out the truth about his family. The chemistry is great between the H and h. We are dying for that first kiss and wanting them to declare some feelings when the mystery of the family history kicks in. We see our enemy Lord Alborcorn is learking in the shadows so you know they are on the trail of something good.
When the story reaches it’s height and all the mysteries are revealed…….I kinda saw it coming but reading it made me Gasp a bit because WOW !! But the best part was when Molly and Ophelia had their confrontation at the end of the book with Colin and his father…..Best. Laughs. Ever!!
I am sad to see the series end and would love to see them again just one more time………

The third book of the four friends, where one is murdered on her Wedding night, one of them saw Tikda's husband push her down the stairs! Now Lady Ophelia is left on her own in London, while her other two friends run off to Scotland to be married. She has definite instructions not to pursue any evidence against the Duke, while they are away! She is frustrated by her lack of courage, and decided to follow The Duke, and his sister into a bookshop, to see what they are so desperate to find.
She then meets Lord Hawke, Colin, who will one day be the third Earl of Coventry. His Grandmother was a tavern wench, and his Grandfather was either a smuggler, or a missive carrier for George the Second. Which one will have an impact on both of their lives! A very good, clean Historical Romance! I highly recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!

Publisher's Description:

Quiet, reserved, Lady Ophelia Fletcher always has her nose stuck in a book; hence why she didn’t witness the death of her friend the fateful night of her passing. Now, she writes the Mayfair Confidential column to expose unsavory men as a way of making amends for not backing her other friend’s claims of murder. When a handsome stranger arrives to meet with her father, Ophelia is helpless to keep from investigating the dashing lord.

Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has a promise to uphold: find the book that proves his grandpapa worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent. Shrouded in mystery and scandal, the Parnell family has been at war with one another for decades, and Colin is determined to put a stop to it all by discovering proof of the family’s honorable past. Unfortunately, the book he seeks is in the hands of a fiery-haired beauty, and he’ll need to enlist Ophelia’s help to uncover the truth.

Ophelia is more than happy to use her skills to help Lord Hawke. But will their search for answers lead to misadventure, or will they get something greater than they bargained for: the truth and each other?

My Thoughts:

This is the final installment of the series and an exceptionally well written story with a surprise in store. Our suspected murder is not the culprit after all. The killer is not someone who was ever suspected. That's enough of a spoiler. I won't spoil the whole thing by revealing the killer's identity.

Lady Ophelia has always been a follower so when her father forbids her to go to Gretna Green with her friends when they decide to elope she does something unexpected when she strikes out on an adventure of her own. This is a surprise as Ophelia has never been very adventurous except in her taste in the books she prefers. She usually takes things in stride and does what she is told to.

Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has promised to find the book that proves his grandpapa worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent for his feisty Grandmother, Molly.
Colin is attracted to the fiery haired beauty whom his Grand mama immediately dubs a devil's spawn due to her auburn locks.

Will these two come together in spite of opposition in the end or will Ophelia's father and Colin's grandmother cause an irreparable rift between the two likely lovers?

The character of Molly, Colin's Grand Mama is delightful and a very memorable addition to this sometimes comical story. It is my favorite of the three books in this series.

I gave this book 4.75 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames. This story has more mystery than sexual interaction, therefore the lower sensual rating.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

'The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia' by Christina McKnight. This is the story of Lady Ophelia Fletcher and Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke. I have not yet read the previous book so for me this was a standalone book. I would say that I wish I had read the other books first, but Ms. McKnight's writing keeps you up to date on what is going on.
Ophelia were learn is dealing with the guilt of missing who killed her friend because she was caught up with one of her books. Now she tries to out rouges and help women with a column she writes.
Colin is looking to clear his grandfather's name and show he was working as a spy for King George. Colin knows there is a book out there that should help him...and he thinks Ophelia could too.
Ophelia does try to help Colin, which leads them to an adventure in solving what actually happened.

The final book in this trilogy of "The Undaunted Debutantes" was a delight to read. I was waiting for Ophelia's story and Ms. McKnight did not disappoint. Lady Ophelia feels overlooked and invisible most of the time she's with her more outspoken friends, Lady Edith and Lady Lucianna, but when a chance meeting with Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, sends an opportunity her way to solve a mystery, she dives right into a misadventure of her own. Finally finding her own courage, she and Colin, embark on a quest to clear his grandfather's name. Along the way, she learns some valuable lessons about being true to yourself, friendships and the exquisite pleasure of love.

McKnight is a talented author and she winds up the mystery of who killed Lady Tilda with a clever storyline. I have loved Ophelia's character since the series was introduced and was thrilled when Ophelia finally had a moment to shine. To fully enjoy this story, I recommend reading the first 2 books in the series. Fans of regency romance will definitely enjoy this story.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

4.5 stars
Quiet, reserved, Lady Ophelia Fletcher always has her nose stuck in a book; hence why she didn’t witness Tilda tumbling down the stairs. Now, she writes the Mayfair Confidential column to expose unsavoury men as a way of making amends for not backing her other friend’s claims of murder. When a handsome stranger arrives to meet with her father, Ophelia is helpless to keep from investigating the dashing lord.
Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has a promise to uphold: find the book that proves his grandpapa Fair Wind worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent. The Parnell family has been at war with one another for decades, and Colin is determined to put a stop to it all by discovering proof of the family’s honourable past. Unfortunately, the book he seeks is in the hands of the Duke of Atholl, and he’ll need to enlist his daughter Ophelia’s help to uncover the truth.
This is the third book in the trilogy & whilst it could be read as a standalone book to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading the whole series. The plot is very well paced & holds the momentum all the way through. The characters are well rounded with Ophelia & Colin being very likeable but it is Molly who steals the book for me, she is just so delightful & had me in stitches. As well as the obvious attraction between Colin & Ophelia there is the mystery of Colin’s grandfather Fair Wind to solve & also Tilda’s murderer to find. Assumptions aren’t always the truth & more than one character isn’t what they seem. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series but this was my favourite, Ophelia my favourite of the three friends, she was a bookworm but so much more, a compassionate intelligent young woman who deserved to find true love. A delightful, engrossing novel that had mystery, humour as well as romance & a series that I will revisit

Christina McKnight has immense talent. The shining beacon of that gift is her ability to create great characters. Characters that stand out above and beyond the words on the page. Heroes and heroines that come alive with their personalities as they lead stories of courage and heart. The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia fits that mold. Ophelia has the distinction of being slightly bookish in personality but never lacking in heart. The death of a friend changed her life. Guilt drove her, but love saved her. That one event set her on a course that lead her to her soulmate and brought her out of her reserved shell and into the risky venture of life. The danger is not only in the mystery that pulls her deeper into the dark, but in the uncertainty that comes with listening to her heart. These Undaunted Debutantes are loyal, fierce and intoxicating. With the series as a whole Ms. McKnight not only conjured up a dynamic and captivating trio, she also spotlighted how beautiful it is to be unique.

Finally, the answers I have been waiting for since the beginning of this trilogy! I have loved every book in this series about three young debutants who are looking for a way to prove their best friend’s new husband murdered her by pushing her down the stairs. Each of these debutants are so different from each other and their stories have all added clues to the mystery. With this final book, we get the answers to the mystery.
Lady Ophelia Fletcher is a bookish girl. She was reading the night her friend died and did not witness who pushed her. She regrets that and uses a newspaper column to expose the rogues of the Ton. Now both of her friends have found men they love leaving Ophelia to feel like a fifth wheel. When Ophelia spots Lord Abercorn, her late friend’s husband and suspected murderer, entering a bookshop, she has to follow him. It appears that Lord Abercorn and his sister are looking for a book, but of course the proprietor will not tell her anything. As she is about to leave, Ophelia spies a very attractive man enter the bookstore also looking for a book. She appreciates his appearance, but thinks nothing about it until he appears in her father’s study a few days later. Maybe he will be the one to give her a grand adventure.
Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, is desperately searching for a book his grandfather wrote about smuggling and running errands for the king. Colin’s grandparents were not wealthy and only became titled when King George II gave them land and a title after Colin’s grandfather did some service for the crown. Now his grandmother is ailing and Colin has promised to find out the truth about what his grandfather did for the crown. Finding the book his grandfather wrote is supposed to not only talk about his smuggling, but also this service. While attempting to locate the book, Colin runs into Ophelia and immediately drawn to her. As she becomes involved in the search for the book, he sees more and more what type of person she is.
I think this is my favorite book in the series, not only because it clears up the overarching mystery, but because of the characters. Ophelia is struggling to find her voice. She feels overshadowed by her friends and dictated to by her father. Meeting Colin allows her to find her voice for the first time and to go on her own adventure. Colin is a man trying to keep a promise to his grandmother. His grandmother is not a typical member of the Ton and her superstitions, voice and attitudes are definitely different and add a comedic element.

This novel was a good read to finish the series. Ladies Edith, Lucianna, and Ophelia found one of their best friends dead after she supposedly fell down the stairs. They believe she was pushed and set out to prove it. This story is Ophelia's adventure and the love she finds along the way.
Lady Ophelia Fletcher felt extreme guilt for not seeing who pushed her friend down the stairs since her nose was struck in a book. She is the quiet, reserved, follower of the trio. She wants adventure, like her friends, but obeys others. While in the bookstore, she sees the man they believe killed their friend, but cannot gather any information. The next man that comes is looking for a book, which intrigues her.
Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has promised his grandmama to find the book her grandpapa wrote about his adventures the prove he worked for the king and was not a smuggler. Colin is determined and this leads him to the Duke of Atholl, where he runs into Ophelia. Ophelia was being treated rudely by is grandmama and Colin comes in to defend and protect Ophelia.
Ophelia wants to help Colin and discovers the location of the book, which she brings to Colin. At first, Colin does not want Ophelia to come with him on his journey, but then his grandmama says that she could help him to discovering the truth. Ophelia and Colin become closer as the try to find the missing pages of the book. But there are others also seeking the book for their own interests as well as the mysterious death of the girls' friend. Both parts are intertwined and lead them to the killer.
A good finish to the mystery!!
