I received this free e-book from the author for a honest review.
First of all, let me tell you that I read this book in 2 days. Because it's that good. I couldn't put the book down. Loved the characters and found the plot to be engaging with enough action to keep the pages turning to see what would happen next. The author has an amazing imagination. The characters are well developed, realistic, complex and interwoven into a creative plot. Overall, I really really liked this book and recommend it highly, if you enjoy this genre.

Detective noir always gives me a warm feeling of familiarity - the 1st-person asides, the tough-guy/moll relationships, the PI's unflappable secretary, the wry humour. This was a good rendering of a cyberpunk version - I liked the main character, Cruz, and is aimed, I would say, at a YA readership (despite - or because of? - the gallons of gore). It's stuffed with so many characters that it also carries an element of farce, which, given the title and the author's nom de plume, is probably intentional. It's not Chandler or Hammett, but I found it an entertaining read on a wet Sunday afternoon.

Honestly, I was turned off by the amateurish writing and the need for a really good edit.

If you are seeking a cliché-filled parody of noir fiction (Douglas Adams meets Dashiell Hammett), then this book might be for you. If you are seeking well-written, clever and original genre-breaking mystery/steampunk fiction, you may wish to seek out other titles.
