After checking through the books on my Shelf I've identified a few titles which I either do not recall requesting or that I have tried to read but not completed as the story just wasn't for me.

In the case of The Break I am afraid I don't remember submitting a request to read this title and it has been on my shelf for several months without me taking action on it. I may have mixed this book up with a different title at the time - I primarily read crime and thrillers and only know of Marian's books as my wife and sister are both huge fans (who both bought this book and apparently thoroughly enjoyed it).

Thank you for the opportunity to read, I am sorry that I have not left a formal review but I know it is a title which has been loved and enjoyed by family and friends. I've noted the five stars on the guidance of my wife :)

An enjoyable read getting to know the life of Hugh and Amy. A story of family of love, connection and loss.

Lovely to read about a family over time. Not dressing it up to be a fairy tale but a story of ups and downs

Good. Interesting concept but somehow it got lost and so the story just seemed so out of order and rationality. I felt sorry for the main character at first then as the story went on I hated her as actions throughout the story just went from bad to worse. The ending was as if the story just didn't happen it just felt too good for the actions leading up to it.

As always with Marian Keyes I love reading and getting to know the story. Ms. Keyes has a way of drawing you into the story.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review. This review is based entirely on my own thoughts and feelings.

Another NG that I have put off for far too long for no reason what so ever, and it was brilliant. Her writing style was exactly what I like in a novel. And the characters were the best thing about this book. The amount of characters should have been hard to follow, but they really were unique and by the end of the book I really felt like I knew them all. I cried so hard for Amy but the ending was just perfect. I will definitely be picking up other books by Keyes, and I have a feeling I am going to love them all!

Family and friends always rave about Marian Keyes, her writing and her style. I personally, hadn't read much from her. Sadly, I couldn't really engage with The Break. It's not because of anything Keyes did or didn't do, per se, more that I just didn't like the characters. They just seemed so implausible and yes, I do recognise the irony of that when my go to books are usually quite dark.

Enjoyable and typical Marian Keyes. Great character development, you feel like you really know these people as the book progresses.

Although some serious topics, Marian’s styles of adding in the humour really works.

I was a bit disappointed with this book, even though I love Marian Keyes. I like how everything is so realistic and not idealistic, but I was expecting to see more of the main character's struggle in relation to the actual situation of her husband leaving. I like the family dynamics, but I feel sometimes it's a bit too much and too distracting.

If you love Marian Keyes, as I do, then you will love this book. Easy going, great read. Highly recommended to all

I listened to this book on audible, I found it a bit of a slog, and some of the sex scenes put me off and so I skimmed these.
I did feel for Amy and her plight with Hugh and I did not like him for the way he treated her and walked out on his family. I thought the development of Amy as a character was very uplifting especially as in the end she made her own decisions for the right reasons and stood by these.

I would like to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Amy's husband Hugh has left her,not left her left her but left her to pursue some other things he would like to do for six months. Don't worry,he's coming back *insert my I am sooo not impressed with this man face* Amy is a mother of 3 in her forty's,who I came to absolutely love. Her wit and her kindheartedness and second to non and Marian Keyes writes her oh so wonderfully. I love the take on modern day Irish families and drama,as someone who loves Ireland that really sold this story for me.
Hugh is written in such a way that you find yourself wanting to shake him a lot and give him a giant dose of reality however you also do find yourself feeling a little bit sorry for him. The drama's of Amy's entire family are funny, heart breaking and oh so real.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I can't wait to pick up more of Marian Keyes work.

I didn't particularly enjoy this book and am sorry to say I gave up before finishing, despite the fact that it was very well written and had a gentle humour.
My problem was that the book was completely character-driven and I didn't like the characters, most of whom seemed selfish, vacuous and celebrity obsessed, and overly concerned with their appearance. The plot was light and predictable but with some serious moments which were handled sensitivitely. There was too much dialogue. Simply not to my taste.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Unfortunately I didn't find The Break as absorbing as some of Marian Keyes previous works, which were outstanding. The characters weren't quite as believable but it was still an enjoyable read and worth giving a go.

Nope, not for me. I could tell pretty quickly that this isn't my kind of writing style and I was getting bored so I put it down.

Lovely book. Read it in a day as it was easy reading. Set in London and Dublin and I was gripped from the first couple of chapters. Marian Keyes is an expert storyteller.
