The Girl Who Ignored Ghost by K.C. Tansley is about Kat Preston, a teenage girl who can see ghosts. Since a young age Kat has been surrounded by ghosts and has even been possessed. Years later, Kat becomes a very academically focused student who is trying her hardest to earn a scholarship to college. As a result, one of her teachers gives her a difficult assignment to write a paper on a murder mystery that took place in the late 1800s. In order to complete her research Kat must go to the crime scene, an old Victorian mansion which is, of course, haunted. While Kat is there she goes back in time, possesses a person from the past and learns something about reincarnation.

As a teacher, I would recommend this book to girls who like to read about paranormal activity but don't like too much gruesome material. I think this book would be appropriate for teens 12-18.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be looking forward to the rest of the series.

When I read the synopsis for this book, I was definitely intrigued. I love the supernatural aspect the author was going for, ghosts and all that spooooky stuff! Love it!

Brief breakdown:
Kat is trying to get to the College of her dreams, and has a knack for researching, just like her mom. But her well-meaning professor sets her up to do a research project with a couple other people that could put her on a path right into her past. But, if Kat doesn't do this project, she may not get into the College she so wishes to go to. Unfortunately the more she researches, and thinks about the "Unbelievables' the more they come to the forefront. The Unbelievables is what the dead call themselves, and after a harrowing experience as a child, Kat has been determined to not believe in them, so she could live a life of peace and normalcy. Unfortunately she has to dive head first back in to that world that almost hindered her existence, first to get into her school of choice, then to help her friends.

I have to say I was only thoroughly creeped out in two moments, the beginning of the novel when the MC was younger, and the scene in the library. I wished there were more moments of terror, but I really enjoyed the parts there was. There were moments of spooky-ness that were also enjoyable to read! I always say the more the better! :)

The world the author created definitely has it's merits, I enjoyed the 'Unbelievables' and how if you don't believe in ghosts, etc, you cannot see them. I feel in the next book the world will be more established, and can't wait to read the second book in this series!

The MC, Kat, grew a lot in this book, from a shy girl to someone who stood up for herself, and what she believed in. And fought for those beliefs. I was worried that the growth would arc too quickly, and it felt like it was going to, but Kat maintained her character quite well with bouts of growth within making it more believable.

One of my favourite parts of Kat was her love of books! I am a sucker for a main character, or any character really, that is as much in love with written word as I am.

All in all I did enjoy this book. One criticism I would have is that the ending seemed a little rushed, and could have been spread out a little more, but I liked how the characters were connected in the end.

Bring on the second installment!

If Paranormal mystery and time travel are your thing, I would highly recommend this book. Who could want anything more out of a book! Lots of suspense, twists, and turns happened, and when the book was done I was longing for more. I would highly recommend this to all my friends.

Meh. Plot and characters were only mildly interesting, couldn't really grab my attention.

I could not put this book down. From the first page, I was enthralled by the characters and the way Tansley managed to layer their interconnectedness was truly inspiring. The mystery was well maintained and the magic perfectly explained. I will definitely be recommending this book to others and I look forward to reading the next one. I've found a new author for my must-read list. This book was reviewed on Goodreads and Amazon.

I was presently surprised by this book. Since the main character was a teen, I expected the typical YA drama, but the characters were surprisingly mature. The body sharing was interesting, but at times I was a little confused on who was controlling the body. The mystery was well written, and I loved the paranormal elements.

I've been trying to read this book for a while now - entering every one of Goodreads' giveaways for this book and eventually I managed to get hold of this book through Netgalley. When I was accepted to read this book in exchange for an honest review, I was so excited! Now, this is a difficult review for me, because I really really wanted to love this book and whilst there were parts that were really amazingly written, there were parts I didn't take to quite so much. The actual best part for me was when Kat and Evan travel back in time. During that whole experience, I could not put the book down. It was magical and weird meeting characters that they'd only read about before. What was a let down for me though was the ending. It just felt rushed. The proposal was over within 2 sentences. A proposal is meant to be beautiful and emotional and yet I felt nothing. It probably didn't help that I feel nothing towards the two characters involved, or, if anything, I disliked them both. I think the scene with all the ghosts had so much potential, but there was just so many names being thrown at me that I was so overwhelmed and by the end of the scene I couldn't even remember who was who anymore. I probably won't read the rest of the series, which is a shame, because if the ending was rewritten to feel less rushed, I think this could have the potential for a 5 star rating.

First let me start by saying this is my first paranormal mystery/romance/suspense that focused on some type of time travel. I really enjoyed how the story between the mystery of the past entwined the people working together in the present. There were definitely a few surprises along the way that I wasn't expecting; like the connection of souls. I usually stay away from time travel books but something in the description called to me so I decided to read it, and I am very glad I did. I am adding this author K.C. Tansley as one of my must read authors and I am excited to read many more books from her.

This book is fun, unique, and pretty awesome. I love a good story where someone can see ghosts, but this goes way way beyond it! Time travel, murder mystery, deadline before they are trapped - or worse dead. This is seriously AWESOME!

It's about a girl the sees ghosts but does want to, your have to read this book

Because I wanted to read The Girl Who Saved Ghosts, I thought it would be best to start with the first part of the series The Unbelievables. What a name, but certainly a fitting one. If you read the blurb you can't help but frown a little: fast-paced, time-travel murder mystery? With paranormal and gothic mystery genres weaved with ancestral curses and powerful spells??? Well, if that doesn't do it for you, I don't know what does...

Although the blurb is a bit over the top, it still got me curious. So I met wit Kat, a girl who was seeing ghosts from a very early age. And then she became possessed by one. Fortunately she was saved by a very friendly ghost, Toria, who helped her to 'unbelieve' in ghosts. Little did Kat know that Toria was actually one of her ancestors...

But for several years, Kat managed to ignore the ghosts, until she is asked by her professor to help with the investigation of an 129 year old mysterious murder case at a castle on the Isle of Acacia. Together with Evan Kingsley, Kat's infuriating TA, Morgan, her BFF and the mysterious Seth, she embarks on an adventure to discover what happened to Cassie and Sebastian on their wedding night so many years ago.
Kat and Evan get pulled into the past through a mirror in the castle and end up in the bodies of Toria and Allistair. Together, they have to discover what is happening in the castle and how they can come back to the present.
An intriguing story with a lot of characters, both from past and present are futuring in this story. Once you have all the people of the different families and their different ties in view, it is a very interesting read.
So without spoiling the story, I would say that once you get submerged into the story, you will most likely be turned from an Unbeliever into a Believer! Five out of five stars from me, with a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I gave this book 3.5 stars. It was fun and interesting. Not very surprising, but it still brings you on a great adventure with likeable characters.

The story was a bit slow in the beginning, there was nothing that really screamed out to me. I put this off for a few days, but I really wanted to get to the ARC of the second book soon so I decided to put it on my priority reads list. It mostly started out with me reading it for about 5 minutes every day when I would bring my dog to the park, but I did get very captivated by the story about 36% in.

The writing wasn't overly complicated to read. This novel didn't have anything complex that I really needed to have my full attention on the whole time I was reading, so I had no problems following along.

I wish the author was a bit more clear on the protagonist's age. I can't tell if she's in college or if she's a senior in a private school or something about to go to university. I know at the very beginning she was very worried about her GPA being lowered by Evan, her TA, but are there even TA's in high school? I never had any that's for sure. I'm really not sure about her age.

As for Evan, he completely grew on me. He started out as the hot yet Satan-esque TA in Kat's class who seemed to be out to ruin her life, but then when we spent more time with him he really wasn't bad at all. I honestly don't know how he went from being so awful to being actually sweet at times. He made a complete one eighty during the book and I really want to see more of him in the next book.

As for the plot itself, it was exciting and managed to capture my attention seamlessly. There is something about the mix of mystery and anything that's paranormal that just brings certain books to life. Now, I love real life mysteries and mysteries in TV shows and movies, but the mystery genre is one that I have a lot of problems with in books. I usually have a hard time getting into them if they aren't Agatha Christie or Stephen King, so the added magical element adds something to the plot that you can't find in a normal mystery novel.

This book also tugs at the heartstrings at times and that just gave more life to the story. I feel like when a book can make you feel those things then it is doing a good job. Books with sad scenes that can bring out your own emotions can't be bad books. Unless they are feelings of hatred towards the book, then it can be bad, but this wasn't one of those books.

Overall, I'm excited to read the next book and see what improvements that the author has made. I'm sure there will be a lot more world building and action to come.

I will admit that I didn't expect very much from this book. I will also admit i was quite wrong. I expected a poorly written carbon copy of every other ghost story out there. But what i got was a uniquely detailed story about a teen girl who had to take on more than anyone should.
This book was fast paced and extremely detailed, not the kind of book you want to start on a day that your brain isnt switched on. You get pumped with information and details from the first few chapters.
Overall this book was a great read and i cant wait to start the sequel

I did this totally backwards. I read the 2nd book first and this book 2nd. I know crazy...but I enjoyed both of them immensely. Highly recommend them and am planning on sending a couple of copies to my students in the Marshall Islands. Enjoy well worth the read.
