Lucas by Sawyer Bennett is the 8th book in the Cold Fury Hockey Series and just like the others can be read as a stand-a-lone.

Lucas meets Stephanie at a charity event where she is working. After a one-night stand Stephy ends up pregnant. Neither has any idea how to raise a child, but decide to keep the child and raise the child as friends. Stephy did not have good role models while growing up and has a difficult time getting close to anyone.

As they move along through her pregnancy they truly begin to care for one another. Stephy begins to let her guard down and Lucas although he didn’t think he wanted a baby is thrilled, sweet and attentive.

At times they struggle with their relationship, especially Stephy, but the chemistry is off the charts and you begin to root for this couple.

One of the things I love about this series is that we get a glimpse of some of the other hockey players from previous books. In Lucas we re-visit his brother Max and his fiancee Jules.

The next book will be Van and I can’t wait to see where his story goes especially since Simone, Max and Lucas’ sister plays a significant role.

I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

Lucas and Stephanie have one amazing night of passion.. They run into each other about a month later and sparks are still flying.. Can this one night stand become something more?

Sawyer Bennett has been one of the most versatile authors to date.

I'm currently reading THREE different series by her. The Cold Fury Hockey Series, The Wicked Horse Vegas Series, and the Sex and Sweet Tea Series by her alter ego Juliette Poe. All three series are vastly different from each other. Not only in topic but also in writing.

I'm amazed that one author can have so many unique voices.

While reading Lucas I came to the realization that I love her sweeter and funnier alter ego more. I adore Juliette Poe's writing and The Wicked Horse series is super hot and sexy - and both of these series are wonderfully entertaining. Whereas the more intense and emotional Cold Fury series has sadly run its course.

If I had to put a finger on exactly what bothered me, I would have to pick the back and forth between Lucas and Stephanie as the source of my discontent. The emotional pull and push. The drama. And even though I admire the author for writing the heroine in such a way that she stood out because of her unique upbringing, her cool demeanor and closed off emotions were a bit off putting for me.

Lucas didn't have it easy to break through Stephanie's walls, and honestly I had the same problem. I couldn't connect with her at all. Lucas was such an opposite in so many ways. I'm surprised about how much he was attracted to her. Because they did have an INSANE amount of attraction and sexual hunger towards each other - definitely plenty of hot sex all around.

Even though the characters clicked, I didn't. I lost interest around 50% and it got worse the longer I kept reading.

So, I KNOW this is an entirely personal opinion, and it has nothing to do with the author's writing or the storyline. It was ME that wasn't able to connect with the characters. I'm pretty sure I'll be in the minority here and that's ok with me. Like I said, I love and continue reading two of her other series, and will just skip The Cold Fury in the future.

Oh how I love Sawyer Bennett's Cold Fury Hockey series! There is never a shortage of heat, emotional turmoil and chemistry!

Lucas Fournier, the younger brother of the Cold Fury's Max, has just recently joined the team. He's still trying to fit in and get his feet under him in a new city with a new team. Like many of the other guys on the team, Lucas isn't into relationships. He's good for a hook-up, but that's all he's interested in. His main focus is on hockey and that's how he wants to keep it.

Stephanie Frazier is as independent as they come. Having spent most of her life looking out for herself and not having any meaningful relationships to draw from, she decided long ago that her best bet was to rely only on herself, giving her less chance to end up hurt in the end. She focuses on her career and not on any emotional entanglements.

When Lucas and Stephanie meet at a gala at the museum where Stephanie works, the sparks fly and since neither of them is looking for anything serious or any kind of commitment, agreeing to one hot night together comes very easy for the two of them. They never plan to see one another again, but will it really be that easy? Or will their paths cross again and will they end up being exactly what the other needs?

I really enjoyed everything about this book. Lucas was not only the hot, alpha male hockey player, he was caring, considerate and had an ability to understand people even when they didn't want him to. I actually saw some of myself in Stephanie because I am independent and don't like to bother others or to be a burden to them. I liked that she was fierce and yet there was a vulnerability about her that made me want to give her a hug. Opening yourself up is hard and seeing Lucas and Stephanie work toward that was extremely satisfying.

Once again Sawyer Bennett crafted a story that sucked me in right from the start and this was another wonderful addition to the Cold Fury stable of books!

Oh my. You've got to love those Cold Fury guys, and guess what? I do. I love them all. Number 8 in the mix, our guy Lucas, is no exception. Lucas Fournier (younger brother to Max) is new to the team and surprise surprise he's not in to relationships. His love of hockey surpasses everything, including women. During a fundraising gala at the local museum Lucas meets Stephanie Frazier, she's independent, liberated and also not looking for a relationship. Perfect. Following a one night stand where they both have the best sex of their lives, neither one expects to see the other again. How wrong they were. I loved Lucas so much, I'm a huge lover of alpha hockey players and Lucas was that and more. He was fun loving, thoughtful, responsible and a perfect son and brother as well as being patient and persistent (traits required when it comes to Stephanie). Stephanie was troubled, coming from a loveless family, but even with all her hang ups (and she had a lot), she was still true to herself and Lucas. Superbly written, a beautiful story with some super sexy scenes and some very emotional moments. Not quite a tear jerker, but I definitely needed the tissues during the latter chapters. Another winner from Sawyer Bennett. I was provided with an advanced copy of this book from author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I had a sense of deja vu with this book, but in a good way. And the main reason being that Lucas reminded me a lot like his older brother Max. Being bros and best friends will do that. They both have an easygoing, happy-go-lucky personality, and their tight family bond only endears them more.

Lucas is an all or nothing guy. And when he falls for a girl, it's hard and fast. It is just crazy that the girl who catches his eye is closed off. It's going to take a great deal of TLC from Lucas to win Stephanie over. Lucas is steadfast in what he wants and how to be an upstanding guy without being all alpha. He wasn't perfect but knew when to make amends. Stephy was like a fish out of water most of the time. She was very stubborn but with the circumstances they found themselves in, her stance on life slowly changed. The most being her self worth, best quality of all. She was definitely a work in progress throughout the book.

I love sports romances and I love ice hockey so this book was a winner especially with the dual POVs. I did feel the ending was concluded very quickly and the epilogue didn't fulfill all my needs. Although, it set up the next book, Van's story, nicely and I am sure we will hear more from Lucas in that edition.

I'll admit that I wasn't impressed the way the characters got together in the first place, but as I kept reading, the book got interesting and pulled me in right into the right places of the story! totally worth it!

Welcome to the newest member of the Cold Fury. Lucas Fournier is hot, hot, hot! He lives for hockey and good times! Until he meets Stephanie Frazier…after a brief encounter, their lives become permanently intertwined. There is no doubt that Lucas and Stephanie have a mutual attraction and strong sexual chemistry. However, life has thrown them a curve ball that forces them to communicate, trust and develop a relationship outside of the bedroom. Sawyer weaves a raunchy, sexy, and entertaining story, which was a compulsive read.

Fun sexy romance between Lucas, a hockey player and Stephanie, the woman he meets at a gala. Instant attraction leads to a blistering hot one night stand which has consequences. I really enjoyed this book which is part of the Cold Fury Hockey series. Red hot and sweet.

I am a fan of this author but this one fell short for me. I found Stephanie to be extremely unlikeable, even though her childhood is used as an excuse. The story dragged on and was boring and repetitive and then ends suddenly. This story is lacking the depth of the others in the series.
