Fans of Sawyer Bennett will fall in love with Lucas and will be drawn into his tale. What happens when a one night stand turns into an unexpected pregnancy? Luc and Stephanie are fun to watch as they try and navigate through impending parenthood, past wounds, family drama, and the grind of professional hockey. Stephanie has a lot of baggage from her past that keeps her from throwing caution to the wind. Will Luc be able to win her over? Readers will be anxious to see. Definitely recommend!

*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book.* Love doesn’t always come when you expect it. And when your stubborn ways don’t cooperate, it makes it that much harder. This is the story of Lucas and Stephanie. One night of unbridled passion forces these two to come together and open their hearts like they never have before. Sawyer Bennett tells this story with such an easy flow. I connected so much with Stephanie’s story. Trying to open herself up and allow for what she felt was inevitable disappointment was scary for her. However, Lucas’ typical playboy ways weren’t easily left behind either. I enjoyed the way their story unraveled. Self introspection was key for these two, and without them coming to certain realizations about themselves, they were dead in the water. Stephanie’s internal struggles left me emotional. I went from being so frustrated by her to cheering her on. Their story is an incredible continuation for the Cold Fury Hockey series. Sawyer Bennett manages to keep this series intriguing and sexy. I absolutely love it and look forward to the next one!

Lucas and Stephanie were amazing. He was bold and sexy and she was his perfect match. I loved this and the entire Cold Fury Hockey series.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.
OK, I admit it. I'm not afraid to. I saved this book for last to read & review, because, HEELLLOOOO....Sawyer Bennett!! You can guarantee that her books are going to be spot on and that you won't be disappointed. Thus, saving it for last. Gah, what can I say? It was absolutely freaking wonderful. Yes, Luc was about to get the crap slapped out of him (by me), but he redeemed himself in the nick of time. Stephanie, holy cow, Stephanie was incredible considering how she grew up. How does Ms Bennett do it time and time again??? Talent people, talent.
I'd give it 6 stars if I could. You won't be disappointed!!!

I enjoy Sawyer Bennet, but I wasn't crazy about this book, and I normally like anything hockey. But I like upbeat books, and I don't know if it is just me, but I feel like lately there is just so much drama in these going on in these books, I mean I know that they are supposed to capture our interest, I get that but, buuuuut sometimes I feel that it is just a little too much drama, but hey that is just me. You can feel totally different, So it give it a chance, because it is not a bad, in no way, shape or form am I saying that it is, it is not, Sawyer never gives us a bad book, it was just not what I was looking for.

Lucas is the eighth book in the Cold Fury Hockey series. While this book is a part of a series, you can read this as a stand alone book. This is true with the other books in the series, too. Even though the book is named based on who the hockey player, thus the storyline's center, I feel that this was more of a book about learning and getting to know Stephanie. Don’t get me wrong, Lucas will capture your heart and you will be cheering him both on and off the ice. Stephanie on the other hand, had a very difficult childhood that has left a major impact on the person she has become. She has some major issues that she has to learn to overcome as well as having to let go of her fears, so she can trust that things can be different. Right from the start, this book had me hooked and it was very difficult to put down. The chemistry between Lucas and Stephanie was a very interesting one. Who knew their lives were going to be so different after that night of the museum gala? I enjoyed how the author had just the right amount of sexy scenes in the book to not have it overwhelming, which allowed the storyline to be able to focus more on the actual story instead of just it being a book about a playboy hockey player and his one night stands. Even the interactions with the other characters added to the story and kept you wanting to know more. My only wish was that the story didn’t wrap up as quickly as it did and that there was more but I’m sure more will be revealed in Van’s book. I can’t wait to be able to read Van’s story.

I love sports romance books, especially Hockey ones! Sawyer Bennett does not disappoint in this book. These characters are wildly fun and full of life! I really enjoyed this book but at one point I really wanted to throw something at Lucas, men can be so stupid sometimes. It is amazing how one night can change so many lives. Stephanie is not the most touchy-feely charcter, she is a bit rough around the edges and stubborn but once you read why and have the patience to stick with this story you really understand her better. Lucas is the brother of Max, who has his own book in this series and it's wonderful, but once a Fournier falls in love it is all consuming. Great book in the series!

This was a whole new arena for me from Sawyer...
Unexpected pregnancy? Check
Casual hook up to maybe something more? Check
A lot of emotional strife and tribulations? Check
Some really intense sex and fooling around? Double check
All wrapped up in the same book? You've got it here!
Sawyer really did something new for me with this story as she made me want to throttle the characters and just make them listen. This was not something I normally feel when reading her books. If was a nice change of pace though.
Stephanie really broke my heart in the beginning due to her upbringing. No one should go through that type of childhood, ever. But watching her grow and learn how to be in a healthy relationship was great. Lucas really was a great guy (even though he had his moments! He did learn) throughout the story.
Now I cannot wait for Van and Simone... god that epilogue...

I love this series. I have read all of the books so far and although there is one that holds a very special place in my heart, this one is a close second, There is a lot going on in this story, hookups, family drama, pregnancy, sports, work and life balance, friendship, so so much love and sex. One thing, among many, that I enjoy about this series is that he me seem to be on board and ready for a commitment before the women and I enjoy that POV. Luke and Stephanie are one of my favorites couples.

Another great story, I can easily say this is my favorite book so far. This is a fast paced, steamy read with the last portion being extremely angsty. Lucas didn't have it easy to break through Stephanie's walls, and honestly I had the same problem. I couldn't connect with her at all.

I voluntarily read an advanced reviewers copy of this book
I absolutely loved every second of this book. I though that Stephanie and Lucas were perfect for each other in the sense that he was so open to love and she was so closed off. It made it beautiful to see all of her walls crumble and to see him fight for her.
I don't know how Sawyer Bennett does it but this book and series is a hit! I absolutely can not wait for Van's book to come out!

Lucas is the eighth title in the Cold Fury Hockey series, and features Lucas Fournier. This title can easily be read as a standalone, but if you are familiar with the series, you will probably remember Luc from Max's story as he is his younger brother.
Lucas is a sports romance, with a great blend of heat, heart and steam.
Luc Fournier is a nice guy, with a big heart. He is patient, caring, kind, playful and sweet. He's hard working and very passionate about his career as an NHL player. Luc definitely enjoys the perks that go along with his job, and likes to party and is a bit of player when it comes to the ladies.
Stephanie Frazier is an interesting character. She is very stubborn, and independent that at times can be quite frustrating, and she has a tendency to come across as being quite cold. She's so used to being alone, that she actually shies away from any form of close friendship or commitment, to protect her heart.
Whilst the story line is not that unique, this story is still incredibly entertaining and engaging. The chemistry between this pair is downright combustible, and their banter is fun and full of flirtation and dirty talk.
I will be eagerly anticipating Van's story next as he has definitely piqued my interest with what we have seen throughout this title.

Lucas was another enjoyable read to the Cold Fury Series by Sawyer Bennett. I look forward to each of these books when they get released. Sawyer Bennett has found a way to make invested in each of these characters lives.
This is another complete standalone novel told in Dual POV. You don't have to read any of the other books in this series to enjoy this one, but I will say that Jules and Max play a very important role in this book and you do see them a lot. Again Max is required to be read first, but this book could be kind of spoilery if you don't. The flow and pace of this story was spot on and the storyline is an entertaining one.
I only had one problem with this book and that was Stephanie. I liked her characters in the beginning of the story, but as her doubts and insecurities carried on I really started to not like her much. I understood where she was coming from and all her issues were valid, but I guess I wanted to see more growth out of her as the book went on and not have it be an epiphany in the last chapter. To me by writing her that way, it made the ending feel rushed and unrealistic. I also started to not like Lucas in the end, but luckily he is so charming and swoony, I was willing to overlook her issues at the end.
Now even knowing I wasn't too fond of Stephanie, I still enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes an unexpected pregnancy storyline and friends who fall in love over time. Also if you are a hockey fanatic like I am, you'll like this book as well. I think Sawyer does a fantastic job balancing the story with romance, humor, and hockey.
In Lucas we follow Lucas and Stephanie. Lucas is Max's brother and a member of the Cold Fury Hockey team. He is the type of guy who loves his job and his life, not looking to settle down anytime soon. Stephanie is a loner of sorts. She came from a wealthy family who pretty much ignore her, even to this day. I wanted to throttle her parents many times over....they are awful. Lucas and Stephanie meet at a charity fundraiser and hit it off right away. Both looking for only something casual...they hook up and it is off the charts HOT!!! But what happens when something unexpected happens and they are now forced into some thing more permanent?? Read this book to see how it all works out for them.

Sawyer Bennett has done it again. With each book she makes me fall more and more inline with ColD Fury hockey! I really don’t want this series to end.

This is a heart-wrenching story about a very broken and emotionally scarred, but sweet and caring, Stephanie. She and fun loving hockey playboy Lucas have a one night stand, but thinking of each other doesn't stop. When Stephanie finds out that she is pregnant, they decide to have a casual relationship and co parent. But as Luke falls in love, Stephanie builds, tears down, then rebuilds walls that protect her from caring. They are complete opposites in how they were raised, and the more Lucas tries to convince her that she deserves to be loved and will be a good parent, the more she wishes she could believe him, but the more she believes otherwise. It's a captivating and sweet love story. And I can't wait to read Van.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Lucas by Sawyer Bennett (Amazon | B&N | Kobo) is a surprise pregnancy hockey romance that follows the Cold Fury team—each can be read as a standalone. After a transcending one night stand, Lucas had Stephanie always in the back of his mind. But with his hockey schedule and a recent bad relationship, commitments just aren’t his thing. That all changes when Stephanie turns up with a surprise for both of them. This chance encounter has totally flipped his world around and when he thinks it’s right side up, Stephanie and Lucas will realize life just isn’t going to be the same. Crazy chemistry and angst drive this story into one of my favorites of the series!

Lucas Fournier was ready to start life over with his new team. One night at a benefit he meets someone who captivates his every thought. His best intentions never ended well that night since the hunger he felt when he saw Stephanie is something that would change his life forever. Stephanie never knew love and now finds herself in a situation that will shake her very foundation. Lucas will be there every step of the way showing Stephanie what she has been missing her whole life.

I love this author and her books are great. This one was no exception. I eagerly await her next hockey book and look forward to her continuing this wonderful series!

This story is part of the Cold Fury hockey series and I have a feeling it’s a lot closer to the truth about hockey than just fiction. The more I follow the sport, the more I realize that there are some really crazy fans out there that will stop at nothing to get the players to notice them. And that’s really sad since you and I both know we are talking about crazy women. Yet I hope that there are also some women who genuinely want to know the guys, not just chasing the money and fame. And this story is about the latter and not the former. That one would always end bad.
Lucas Fournier has just been traded to the Carolina Cold Fury and is going to be playing with his brother. He thrilled to be with family and knows they have a good chance of winning the Cup as well. Life couldn’t be going any better and he plans to enjoy it every day, just keeping himself in check when he needs to do so.
Stephanie Frazier is the temporary director of acquisitions at the museum where Lucas is attending a benefit dinner. She has no social life nor any long term relationships. So she can’t understand why she started flirting with Lucas. But she is willing to enjoy a one night stand with him and return to work on Monday. And then life gets complicated.
Family is very important to Lucas and he doesn’t hesitate to confide in one or more of them when he needs answers. Stephanie had the luxuries of being wealthy but along with that came isolation as a child so she keeps a distance from family while protecting her heart. Those things lead them both to want completely different things from life. And yet they are drawn to each other day after day.
Great story about two opposite people who can learn to lean on each other and get happiness as well as love.
I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was promised or received for this review.

Lucas is the 8th book in the Cold Fury Hockey series by Sawyer Bennett. This is a book that you can read at the pool or at the beach. I liked it because the plotline was very simple to follow. Also, the characters were pretty easy to like or dislike. While it is a hockey book, there isn’t a lot of hockey in it, if that makes sense. Hockey is mentioned but the main focus of the book was Lucas and Stephanie’s relationship. I liked that and actually needed a book like this. I have read books with some pretty heavy subjects lately so Lucas was a good change of pace for me.

The plotline of Lucas is pretty straightforward like I said above. Even if I didn’t read the blurb, I would have called what happened from the minute the condom broke. What happened afterward was what made the book enjoyable in my eyes. I liked that Stephanie didn’t act like a money-grubbing baby mama. She didn’t want money from him, she wanted him to know about his child. It is so against what people are like today that it was refreshing to read. The other plotlines that were in the book, Simone and the non-profit idea, only added to the story.

The romance between Lucas and Stephanie did take some time to kindle. For a long while, actually almost the whole book, it was sex, sex, and more sex. But, I could see the romance starting. I knew before Lucas and Stephanie did that they loved each other.

I liked Lucas. He did come across as a manwhore when first introduced in the book. He lived for hookups and meaningless sex. So when he met Stephanie at a gala at her museum, he figured it would be a one night stand. Then the condom broke. When I read that they broke the condom from having rough sex, I could not stop laughing. I was like “Dayum, where can I find someone like him“. I liked him, even more, when he stepped up. He could have done what is becoming a norm in today’s society. Not supporting Stephanie and denying that the baby was his. Instead, he chose to stick by her, with the stipulation that they get a DNA test ASAP. He wasn’t perfect by any chance. He also dealt with her immense damage done to her by her parents with grace. Well, until he reached his breaking point and I didn’t blame him there. There is only so much that a man can take.

Stephanie had my sympathy for most of the book. She was an unwanted child of two very wealthy business people. Her parents, while providing for her, had nothing to do with her. As a result of that childhood, Stephanie did not know how to act in any type of relationship. So when she found out that she was pregnant, she was elated and terrified. She was terrified that she would do to her child what her parents did to her. When Lucas wanted to be exclusive with her, she did not know how to act when in one. I felt awful when she would throw her walls up every time Lucas tried to get close to her. She couldn’t help it. But, I also didn’t blame Lucas when he finally left.

The sex in this book was very explicit and very hot. Lucas definitely knew how to take care of Stephanie. Stephanie was a very confident woman in bed which I like also. With that combination, I could see the steam rising off the pages during every sex scene. And there were a lot. Lucas couldn’t keep his hands off of her.

I did wonder where the plotline with the nonprofit was going. It was mentioned a few times, with everything set to go, when it seemed like the storyline was dropped. I hope that it is picked back up in Van and that we get to see where it goes from there. I was interested in that plotline.

The end of Lucas made me laugh and cry at the same time. What I did like, a lot, was the sneak peek into Van. And oh boy, does Van make me want to read it!!
4 stars
My Summary of Lucas:
Lucas is a steamy romance. It does take a while to take off in the romance department and is very heavy on the sex scenes. The plotline is very easy to follow and I loved the main characters. This is a book that I would bring to the beach, the pool or read in the tub.
Will I reread: Yes
Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes
Age range: Adult
Why: Sex and language
