Thank you NetGalley, Jane Isaac, and Trafalgar Square Publishing for the opportunity to read this book, albeit a little late…
Confession time! The Lies Within by Jane Isaac was one of the first books that I was approved for through NetGalley a few years ago. Me, being a newbie did not download the book in time before it was archived. I spent the last three years starring at the book and being so disappointed that I didn’t get to read it. Well, I happened to stumble across the book on Amazon and I just couldn’t pass it up. I ended up reading it in ONE night!
The book begins when the body of a woman is found and has eerily similar injuries to previous cases, giving the detectives reason to believe that this is a part of an unsolved serial. The young woman is a college student and daughter to Grace Daniels. It is unimaginable to deal with the death of your child but even more painful to discover the secrets that they hid from you. While DI Will Jackman tries to put the pieces together, Grace withdraws further from her family and friends. That is until an old school mate shows up and Faye is just the person to help her through her grief. Jackman will discover that not all is what it seems and all will lead to another murder as secrets are exposed.
This book is so fast-paced! I am so glad I finally got the chance to read it. I think the book is roughly 360 pages and I finished it within a few hours. I was absolutely hooked! The book has two points of view: one of DI Will Jackman and the other Grace Daniels. Jackman’s point of view is so realistic, it felt as if I were watching a real investigation unfold. He is fascinating in the sense, that he sees the investigations as a puzzle. He brings a fresh look to cases that seem impossible to solve. Grace’s point of view is utterly heartbreaking. She deals with her grief in a number of ways but mainly, she is anxious to find out what happened to her daughter and begins an investigation of her own. Many might see her character and think her naive and oblivious but I think those stemmed from the grief.
I do want to know more about the main cast of characters, so I do plan to get the first and third books in the series. Overall, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. If you are interested in criminal investigations and crime thrillers, this book is for you!

An intersting twist on the usual procedural- DI Will Jackman is trying to prove Grace did not commit a crime. Don't worry if you haven't read the earlier books as this is fine as a standalone. A good read.

I love DI Will Jackman books, not my first and not my last. A womans daughters body is found dead, and she inlists the help of an old friend to help her figure out what happened.

This is the third in a series I haven't read before. The story line is based on DI Jackman solving the murder and sexual assault of three young women over a span of years. The most recent case is the one with the most emphasis and characterization. The plot doesn't flow well between the procedural portions and the family of the victim parts. There is very little information about the background of Jackman which may be information provided on previous books. The character development really focuses on the victim's family. Overall, the story had some surprising twists but I think I would pass on reading any other books in this series.

This was an excellent Murder/Mystery. The Lies Within held my interest from start to finish. A creative psychological thriller with twists and turns you haven’t read before. There will be times you think you have figured out the story. But, trust me, you're probably wrong. The author does an excellent job of leading the reader.
I have no complaints about this book. The writing style was very enjoyable. I never felt any annoying inconsistencies or unrealistic actions by any of the characters. All of the characters were well developed, believable, likable and relatable. Strong female lead characters.
I did not realize this is book three in the Detective Inspector Will Jackman series until I finished this book. You do not need read the books in order to enjoy them. I enjoyed this book so much, I plan to read book one and two.

Another wonderful book by Jane Isaac, this is my favorite in the series so far. Her writing is impeccable, the story brilliant and I can't recommend her books highly enough. Hopefully it won't be long before the next one.
See my review on Good reads and Amazon (plus I recommended the book to my library).

This is the third book in the DI Will Jackman series and it was a great addition to the continuation of this series. What started out as a death of a young girl leads to a mystery that hopefully is solved by the end of the last page. The question that started this story was who killed Grace's daughter, Grace or someone hiding who they actually are in the inside. This story was full of twists and turns that even shocked my throughout the pages of this book. A mothers love is undeniable and in this book you see just how far and what lengths a mother goes through for their child.
Thank you NetGalley and Jane Isaac for allowing me to read and review this book

I have this book 3 stars- I had a hard time connecting with a couple of the characters; however; it was still a good plot. A good book for anyone that enjoys a mystery.
