I didn't connect to the characters like I've done in the previous books. I enjoy the premise but this book is lack chemistry to me

A charming mystery set in a small town in North Carolina where Amy Simms is the owner of Birds and Bees, a shop specializing in bird supplies. She is taking a group out for a bird walk one morning shortly before the Fall Harvest Festival, but rather than looking at and talking about birds, the men in the group are all looking at and talking about the vintage cars that will be featured at the festival. They are especially interested in a secret car that Chick is supposed to be entering. When Amy and her friend Kim are out near Chick's farm they try to steal a glance at the secret car, but are found out and have to leave quickly. in their haste Amy drops her cell phone and when she realizes later that night that it is missing she goes back to Chick's farm to search for it and finds his dead body, lying under a classic car he was renovating. It turns out that he was murdered and Amy's friend Paul thinks he will be the chief suspect so he pleads with Amy to investigate as she has been involved with prior murder investigations. This is a fast paced mystery with down to earth characters, a charming setting and a glimpse of small town living. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A fun mystery, and really liked the details of the bird-watching. The car obsession bored me a bit, but that is just me. Really liked the characters, the story line, and the writing. A fun summer book, that is easy to pick up and put down. Highly recommend this book.
