Hot Pursuit is a good fit for those seeking a romantic adventure with a lighthearted tone and a fast-paced, action-packed plot that explores themes of second chances, redemption, and the challenges of opening oneself up to love after past heartaches.

Christian and Emily’s story was definitely full of banter and sniping at each other. Everything happened in continuation from the previous book, so the timeline was pretty short. I’m intrigued about Angel and the final book in the series.

I usually like reading from Julie Ann Walker books before. And this one was no different, but I will say that it's more thriller than romance. If you love reading about two burned operatives looking for answer while they deny their attractions for each other, then you will enjoy reading this book. It's more focus on the mission than the romance. Keep that in mind, and you will enjoy this book so much more.

The heat has been building between Christian and Emily and I enjoyed finally getting their story! If you’ve read any of the other Black Knights Inc Books, you will recognize these two and their banter! This story begins with the crew that hid out [see last book in series for more about why they are hiding out] in Christian’s Uncle’s house. They are about to leave the country when mysteriously Christian is outed for something that happened while he was with the SAS. This complicates their exit from the country, as they have to dodge not only the press but also a crazed individual who had a family member die in that ill fated SAS mission. The close quarters that are brought on when the team is hunkering down waiting on a pilot provides that final spark for Christian and Emily to take that next step.

I love how Julie had Emily and Christian have some pretty serious conversations before they jump into bed. The conversations with them in the library were so real life and make you feel even more for Christian. Their troubled pasts, from the right and wrong side of town, are similar and have left their mark in indelible ways.

I won’t spoil who the pursuer is … because it made the book for me, but I will say that the development of the relationship will keep you reading page to page (and that doesn’t even include all of the suspense and hilarious visits from the other BKI members)

I am sad to see this series nearing its end, but am excited that we might be learning more about Angel soon!

I struggled to engage with the characters or the story here. This is the eleventh book in the series and although I have read all the previous ones I think the ones early on where the freshest and most engaging. This can be read as a stand-alone but you will struggle with some of the arcing plot points so I would recommend reading them in order.

***Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher***

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Loved watching Christian and Emily's story unfold as they continued their journey to escape the infamous Spider. And now we know for certain why God created beautiful women and well-hung Englishmen!

When things finally heated up for these two they could have set stone on fire!

I look forward with both excitement and sadness to the next BKI installment as it will be the last. Ending on the most enigmatic BKI operative of them all - Angel. This book showed the most interaction between him and the other team members so far.

POSSIBILITIES OF SPOILERS...

While still on a mission Christian has to deal with a cluster poop storm of reporters hassling him about his past but he and the rest of the group have to be on the DL and get out of England.
Emily has had a thing for Christian since she first started working with the BKI but she is NOT willing to risk everything to be with Christian!
Christian wants Emily for more then just a fling but she won't take a chance.....or will she??

3.5 stars. I have read all of the previous stories in this series. If I were ranking them this would come in in the bottom half. Sometimes a character who is good on the periphery doesn't come across great when turned into the main. Emily was annoying sometimes.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Source books/ Casablanca for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Somehow I lost this book on my kindle and so am super late in reviewing it! Yikes... This is I believe number 11 in a series. I think I have read 3 or 4 of them. This reads well as a stand alone. I found this to be an odd mixture. I liked the main leads but didn't love them. Emily was slightly annoying for such a smart lady she denies her feelings and hides from emotions. I did enjoy the banter between Christian and Emily. I also liked the fact that they didn't just jump straight into bed. Overall a good read. I would recommend it you like romantic suspense. I rate it a 3.5.

Hot Pursuit is the eleventh (!) book in the Black Knights Inc. series by Julie Ann Walker. I have read most of the series, and think that the romance portion of each story stands fine on its own, however character development and the larger story arcs make the read much more enjoyable for those that have been following along.

Christian Watson, a former SAS officer and current BKI operator, never thought he would return to England after a terrible turn of events forced him to abandon his homeland. But now he's back on British soil where old enemies are determined to do him in. Fighting for his life is pretty much SOP for Christian. Doing it with the beautiful, bossy Emily Scott in tow is another matter entirely. Emily lost her coveted job at the CIA because of a colleague turned rogue, and now she has just one rule when it comes to men: they're for recreational purposes only. But when she and Christian are thrust into very close quarters while evading two mysterious men who want Christian dead, she can't help but question all her ideas about love and life lived on the edge. Battling the bad guys is hard enough, battling her feelings for Christian just might prove impossible.

Hot Pursuit has two solid main characters, with complex backgrounds the effect their relationship, and how they look at the world. Christian had a rough childhood, including loss and serious trauma followed by a horrible end to his career with the SAS. Emily had a terrible childhood and is certain that she is not meant for lifelong love or commitment. It is not the danger that keeps them apart, that is just for some spice and excitement for the story line. The real conflict here is all based in fear and stubbornness. I do like that Christian and Emily do trade quips and snipe at each other, but they also have very important talks about their pasts, and possibilities for the future. I like they they did not just jump in the sack and call it good- but actual had to work through the problems caused but their formative years, but while I enjoyed it the book did not wow me.

Hot Pursuit is a solid addition to the series, and one that I enjoyed more than the last couple. It made for a good snow day read.

I have been waiting and waiting for Christian and Emily's story! They have been my favorite characters with their bantering and bickering...makes for the best reading. With their own story, it just explodes! Suddenly Emily wants to be more in thrust of it than behind the scenes and Christian is NOT ok with that but he has no choice. We learn so much more about Christian and his past (finally)! The romance between these two are off the charts and not a disappointment!

Well the story we have all been clamoring for has finally arrived!
For the longest time now readers have been dying to see Christian and Emily finally quit circling around and crash into one another instead. The hot men and sexy woman of the BKI team have been slowly falling in love and finding their way into a life that will lead them away from the deep world of darkness they have lived in for so long, but in my eyes they have saved the world over so many times that they deserve a chance to retire in love and happiness. Julie Ann has been giving us little glimpses of the heat between Christian and Emily for a while now but we have never gotten the full picture of the connection these two would forge. The danger and drama they find themselves in always means more high powered and sensual connections when they do come together, but the silliness and sweetness that they also found together was the most surprising and wonderful part of this story for me. Emily is a woman that has a lot of baggage in both her previous professional and personal relationships and she doesn’t give her trust easily, but she is also a woman that knows who she is and what she needs from a man to make him the perfect mate for her. Christian has lived for so long with the mistakes of his past and the betrayals that lead him into the BKI family, but he has resisted Emily until the resistance has truly become futile. Now that he has had her in his arms and his bed, no way is he letting her go, and being the sneaky and sexy secret operator he is, his plan to convince her that she needs him just as much is truly diabolical and I LOVED IT! I really enjoyed every second of this story and don’t want to give away too much by sharing all the greatness, but I will say that if you love a hot and sexy man (and to top it all off he has a British accent, y'all) and a sassy and hardass woman, then Hot Pursuit will be just the read for you. I am dying to read the next (Last?) book in the series coming soon and look forward to getting to know Angel and seeing the full story of the mysterious and sexy secret member of BKI that was have only just gotten to know a bit more about.

I loved this story! It is a fast paced tale, full of suspenseful action. The best part of this story was see Christian give in to his feelings so completely, while coming to terms with his past. When I first started reading this series, Christian was always a bit of a mystery. I won’t give away too much of the story line but I enjoyed how this story really gave the reader a chance to meet and fall in love with Christian. Ms. Walker came through with another fantastic read, as usual.

I have read and reread all the BKI series and this one will be no exception. I loved the banter and chemistry between Christian and Emily. And occasionally I wanted to smack some sense into Emily Lol!!
You will not regret getting this book. It has just the right combination of steam, angst, and action!

This was the first book in the series I had a hard time connecting to. I put it down and came back to it a few months later, but that did not help. Clearly I think it's an issue connecting on my end, and I don't blame the story or characters for that. There's a block for whatever reason, and I cannot make it past the first 15%.

Hot Pursuit is the eleventh book in Julie Ann Walker's Black Knights, Inc. series, but I've only read one other title in this series so far, Wild Ride, which was book 9, and I loved it, so I was eager to read this one. Sadly, it just didn't live up to the standard set by Wild Ride, the fault may be partly mine, since I'm not following this series book by book, but I can only give Hot Pursuit a 2.5-star rating.

This time, the Black Knights are hiding out in a Cornwall cotttage and are trying to get out of England and fly back to Chicago, while keeping as low a profile as possible. Christian Watson, who is British and a former member of the SAS, and Emily Scott, who is officer manager for the team are the featured characters. While a reason is given for Emily to be along on this mission, searching for the identity of the enemy known only as Spider, and trying to end his reign of terror, the reason she's along just doesn't hold up. She's tough, spunky and snarky, and she and Christian are attracted to one another, but she certainly doesn't belong on a covert mission.

Most of this novel is devoted to the team's repeated attempts to leave the country, the heat between the hero and heroine, the tension between the two gay members of the team, one closeted, one not, and their attempts to evade both the press and the Michaelson brothers, Lawrence and Ben, who want to kill Christian because they blame him for the death of their brother in an op gone bad in Iraq, and they really don't care much who else on the team they have to kill to get to Christian.

Although Christian and Emily have rough childhoods in common, rather than that commonality bringing them together, it's Emily who insists that they be no more than friends with benefits, primarily because there's never been a long term, committed relationship in her family and she doesn't want to be the next generation to fail at love. While I truly like a good balance of romance mixed with my suspense novels, there's not a lot of suspense to be had here. Additionally, too much of the novel is spent on the two gay operatives constantly arguing with one another. It was an interesting sideline but since their relationship will most probably be resolved in an upcoming novel, I felt that too much time was spent on it in this novel. Too much time was also spent on the dialect differences between an Englishman (Christian) and a 'hood gal from Chicago (Emily). Every time it came up, all I could think was, "I get it already, stop prefacing every sentence out of Christian's mouth with 'bloody' and move the story forward!"

Which brings me to pacing. This novel gets off to a slow start, and it took me quite some time to understand what was occurring and why. Since I missed reading the novel that preceded this one, I had a hard time understanding who these characters were, what they were doing and why. The Spider person they were trying to find and his heinous acts were so ill-defined and amorphous that the search for him seemed rather irrelevant. As a covert op group, I found it impossible to believe, knowing how dark ops are funded in this country, that they were only hired and funded for one year, and were then expected to suddenly become an overt investigative agency.

While there's certainly a lot of heat between Christian and Emily, the fact that for most of the novel these characters are holed up in one house or another, never seemed to really be in pursuit of the Spider, and the fact that they were more the pursued rather than the pursuers made the plot stagnate. The action scenes in this novel were too few and far between, and I wish the author had spent more time on them.

While the author writes well, I never felt truly connected to either this story or its characters. This novel can probably be read as a standalone, but if this is the first novel in the series you are reading, I'd suggest you read this series in the order in which it was written, something I wish I had done.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

I have loved Christian and Emily's banter, or "foreplay" as the members of BKI think of it since this couple entered the BKI picture.

What I liked about this book was the background story of Christian. He has always been this holier than thou asswipe (at least that's how Ms. Walker portrays him) and I just know that behind all that flash was a story worth waiting for. What I would have liked was for Julie Ann Walker was to tell it sooner!

I love the sexy parts although I get frustrated all the time with this books for how much these guys get interrupted when they're going mambo! Seriously they all need their own room or house as the case might be.

I also obviously loved the action and all the mystery surrounding this Spider person. It just keeps making you come back for more. I am sad to see there is just one more book in this series but I think it has been a good ride and these guys (and gals) need a break from all the near deaths and threats.

I hope the last book is as good as the rest and I can't wait to see how all this ends and how this freaking Spider is...

Romantic Suspense heavily on the romance side. The chemistry between the MCs was burning and their banter was good.
