I thought this book was good. It wasn’t one that made me want to automatically read all of this authors books, but I liked it well enough while reading it. I thought it had a great premise that was very unique.

I thought this book was pretty predictable, even though it tried to have a twist, but overall it was still a good, solid thriller

I haven't read a book by this author before it wasn't really my bag I'm sure it is for others. I'm afraid I didn't manage to finish it.

Read for an honest review. Thank you Mr Brearton, Netgalley and Bookouture

Thanks to NetGalley and publisher Bookouture for the ebook ARC of Buried Secrets by T.J. Brearton in exchange for an honest review.

There’s more than bones hidden at the Larson house…

Newlyweds Brett and Emily Larson have just moved into a new home in the countryside, and are overjoyed when Emily finds out that she’s pregnant.

Then they discover human bones in their garden.

As the police start to investigate, three things become clear:
The bones are recent.
They are not here by accident.
They are a message.

When the police put three photos of known criminals on the Larsons’ kitchen table, the couple realize the danger may be closer to home than they think.

As the situation escalates, can Brett and Emily keep one step ahead to protect themselves - and their unborn child?

I give this book a rating of 4 stars and I recommend reading this book.. This book really drew me in, in the beginning and it kept my attention through to the end. There were many twists and turns. I am looking forward to reading another book by T.J. Brearton.

BURIED SECRETS is a fast-paced crime thriller by author T.J. Brearton.

A newlywed couple, Brett and Emily Larson have just moved into their new home in the countryside, when Emily finds out she is pregnant.

But when Brett starts digging in the garden, he discovers the unthinkable…bones…human bones in a tin box! And inside the tin box is a name and number?

This got my attention!

As the police start to investigate, they soon realise that this is a message for Brett and Emily.

With danger escalating around the corner, can Brett and Emily stay safe and protect their unborn child.

To say more would be to reveal spoilers. This was an enjoyable read, with memorable characters and lots of twists and turns in the plot to satisfy the reader.

Many thanks to Bookouture via NetGalley for my digital copy.

DNF - Made it to just over a third of the way through the book and nothing really happened. The book starts with a main character uncovering human bones as he digs to plant on his newly purchased land, and then a whole lot of nothing happens. Perhaps it gets better, but I lost interest 33% of the way through, according to Kindle's page count.

Brett and Emily are living a happy life in their dream home. Expecting their first child and wanting to take advantage of their property Brett goes and starts to dig a garden. Their wonderful quiet life is about to be turned upside down when Brett finds bones which lead him to many as many questions as answers. He starts to investigate on his own terms to find out who was buried on his property and this quickly leads him to unexpected trouble.

The rapidly evolving plot is full of twists and turns which will keep anyone that loves a crime-thriller turning pages! I was hooked right from the beginning and loved every little twist and turn! I am very much looking forward to reading more by this talented author!!

this was more of an action/thriller book than a mystery, which wasn't exactly what i was expecting. they pretty much tell us who the culprits were at around 30% or 40%, whereas i prefer most of the plot to be about the mystery itself rather than the action. i think books which rely mostly on the action don't work a lot of the time; it's a mode more suited to film than books, although it can be done well sometimes. overall, this was okay but rather underwhelming, despite the plot twist at the end (which didn't particularly have much bearing on the overall mystery, really)

Brett and Emily are starting their new life, in a new home, in a new place. While digging up the garden, Brett discovers some bones and this starts the police investigation...
A parallel story runs along about Russo taken back into custody. As the pages turn, the 2 worlds do collide and chaos occurs.
The premise of the story, as I am writing it, sounds so good, and I am left wondering about the reasons I didn't like the book.
Thinking back, I realize I didn't connect with anyone, everyone appeared fake to me. I couldn't feel the real emotions between the couple. The book went a little slow. I needed it to be more gripping pulling me into the story... But it lacked in that. I have to admit that I skimmed most parts, as it didn't call to to me.
The writing could have had more depth, at least for me. The story did have its appeal but it falls short in suspense. It is a good read if there is no other book available (which is not possible with such huge piles of TBR books hehe)

Buried Secrets by T.J Brearton was a gripping, fast-paced thriller that I could not put down. I loved the alternating storylines from two POV's that seemed completely unrelated at times until they did come together in an explosive way.

Brett and Emily Larson have just got married and purchased a stunning farmhouse in the countryside where they get started on creating an idyllic garden. However when Brett uncovers bones in the garden, the idyllic farmhouse seems to be turning into a nightmare.

Meanwhile upstate Russo has been picked up by the police for unpaid fines and is on his way back inside prison. There he meets a cage fighter turned robber who is collecting newspapers following the story of the bones at the Larson's farmhouse.

I absolutely loved this book, I would have read it quicker but that pesky thing called work kept getting in the way! T.J Brearton's writing was fabulous and he managed to weave a brilliant story that kept me guessing right to the end. When the two storylines collide, the pace picks up even more and we went on a whirlwind adventure until we reached the dizzying conclusion.

The twists at the end I didn't see coming and it was brilliant, I loved it. I will look forward to more books by T.J Brearton in the future.

Brett & Emily have just got a lovely home in the country. Emily is pregnant. all is going well. As Brett is clearing land for their garden he comes across human bones- & that is the start of a lot of trouble.

Russo had been in trouble with the law but had turned over a new leaf when he met his wife and since the birth of their beloved daughter he has two strong reasons to keep out of trouble. However trouble seems to find him. When he is fined for a driving offence he cannot find the money. Whilst in jail waiting for his case to come up he is given an offer he feels he can't refuse if he wants to see his daughter grow up in any way apart from behind bars.

I found the first part of the book very hard going and nearly gave up. I'm glad I persevered because the last third was terrific! Some of the actions of the characters didn't quite ring true but I did find myself getting quite fond of Russo!

If you can get past the early part of the book this is a good read. I would like to give it 3.5 stars but had to settle on a 3. Thanks to Netgalley & the publishers for giving me the chance to read & review this book.
