I love a good fake relationship and this one fit the bill. It wasn't especially noteworthy but I enjoyed myself and that's the most important thing. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.

Lottie lives her life by a set of rules she refuses to break, which includes a lengthy list of dating rules. Although her rules are tossed out the window when her married friend decides she wants to let her hair down for the night and ropes Lottie into playing the part of bachelorette for a faux bachelorette party. Then things go sideways when Lottie finds herself intrigued by an artistic jewelry designer who breaks all of her rules. Will Lottie allow herself to fall for him or will she find someone who is better on paper?

I’m on the fence about this one. While this one’s billed as a romance, it actually fits the Chick Lit genre as it’s more of Lottie and her friends figuring out who they are. So, if you do pick this one up, keep in mind the romance takes a backseat.

While I enjoyed the story, I wasn’t really a fan of Lottie. She’s comes on as pushy and rather than letting people be who they are, she seems to push people into going along with what she wants them to be. She’s also so bloody whiney and she made me growly.

The pacing of the plot was a little uneven and rather boring in spots as it verged from romance, to chick lit, to a sort of social study. The story did pick up in the last few pages but, sadly, the ending was abrupt and left me wanting more.

Overall, this was an okay read. I do think the plot and the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more.

DNF - I read the first few chapters of this story and there was no draw to the characters.. I put it down and never picked it up again. Too many books to read.

This is a story full of angst. Three college friends and a new roommate, get together to have a fake bachelorette party. Originally, thought to help Elsa May the only one married in the bunch have a little fun when she came to Manhattan. Lottie Langerman her old roommate is a by the rules girl really doesn’t want to but does for her.
They soon talk to their other friend Mia and her new roommate Jane into it too. Really, Jane a professor at NYU invites herself. She thought it would make a great case study for women’s studies. Jane is a feminist or so they thought. They find out on these, as Jane calls them, social experiments, that they are all different deep down in their being.
Lottie always saw Mia as the girl that was always on. Everyone’s friend. The star of the party. Could date anyone was and is always on social media for the latest fashion. But like Lottie once she lost her true love, it rocked her world. Two years, later and she is still fluttering around but not dating.
Elsa May finds herself knocked up and pregnant without blinking that baby is nine months old. She hasn’t taken the bar exam. This is a story full of angst. Elsa May finds herself knocked up and pregnant without blinking that baby is nine months old. She hasn’t taken the bar exam for the law after all. She is living with the in-laws in Connecticut in the high life. Now she is a mom in yoga pants with the burp-up on her shoulders. Yet, as mundane as that as being a mom is she loves Birdie and her hubby, Thad.
Lottie has these rules and on her night as a bachelorette, she meets Tyler King Custom Jewelry Designer with a beard and he smokes. All the things on her list that are no-nos. Yet, there is something about him she can’t shake. It could be that he is openly flirting with her that gets her thinking. But when she runs into him again and he’s still flirting it doesn’t help.
Cute story of how men and women tend to see each other in stereotypical roles. How we put ourselves in such roles too. How when we think we’re helping it may not always be it has to be in a person’s own time frame not push into someone else’s time frame. I give this: 4 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. This was a sweet romance. Though I had a hard time connecting with Lottie, it was nice to see the persnickety character find her match.

I received this free via Heroes and Heartbreakers...which allowed me to find a new author. Garrett's style is one that I'd like to see again, but I really didn't like the premise of this book. Sometimes I can put that behind me (see all the historicals I read with crazy tropes), but other times I just want to nope out of the book. This was one of the times I repeatedly had to nope and walk away from the book.
None of it was bad enough to DNF the book, and it eventually redeemed itself but it took a while.

We start with a heroine who has a full plan of how her life should be, down to the man she'll marry. Through hijinks and insanity being committed by her (sequel bait) best friends, she finds what would be a great partner...except he is nothing that she wants. He's of course interested, and invents reason after reason for them to be together even though she has a (fake) fiancee who's just perfect for her. To frustrate matters further her friends are making things more complicated at each turn.

Your mileage may vary on this one...I can recommend the writing, but I'm hoping for a different plot device for the next one.

This follows Lottie a real estate broker who is every stereotype of somebody living in New York; workaholic, uptight and vain. In order to cheat her up her best friend arranges a fake bachelorette party, because they have more fun, don't they? Things get complicated when she meets a guy who is the exact opposite of her and breaks every rules he ever had.

Lottie's vainess did get annoying after a while, but there is really good character growth.

Lottie, real estate broker in Manhattan has long list to check off before she dates. She likes her list and she never deviates from her lists.
When her best friend Elsa May comes in Friday to party with her friends, she realizes bachelorette seems to have more fun than all her friends combined. So she decided to plan a fake bachelorette party on every Friday she comes to the city. Elsa May had everything planned and even with engagement story on a paper so everyone will memorize. When Lottie meets Jewelry designer Tyler, he was far from her list even if he looked good.
Lottie thinking fake engagement was for one night, but she runs into Tyler and she had to keep the fake engagement story. When Tyler asks for her advice on his brother’s search for apt, wasn’t really interested in Tyler but she couldn’t forgo the commission on his brother’s apartment search. Tyler is not the type of person she would ever see but something about him was rubbing off on her but she won’t deviate from her check list.
All her friends were quirky and through all the parties, they find themselves and seems like bachelorettes do have more fun.
On last fake bachelorette party things go wrong and she is losing her friends and everything else. Lottie needs to find away back to her friends and find her true love.
It was fun read about bachelorette parties and finding true love.

[2.5 to 2.75 stars but not quite 3 stars]

The cover for Her Fake Engagement is so flirty and fun, it originally drew me in. The story itself is fast-paced enough (and kind of predictable enough) to keep you engaged.

Lottie Langerman has rules about whom she dates. She has a couple of good friends -- one of whom is married with a baby -- who balance out her OCD moments. When Elsa May suggests a fake bachelorette party, with Lottie as the bachelorette, things get a little too crazy for the rule-making Lottie.

This story wasn't deep, and the argument between Lottie and Elsa May seemed a little contrived, but this novella was a good way to step away from the real world for a couple of hours. Despite Lottie's rules, we know she's going to end up with Tyler, and I was 100% okay with that.

I could not put this book down!
It pulled me in and I had to figure out who she ended up with.

Lottie is a girl that has her life all mapped out, she has rules for everything in life.
Then one night her Best Friend throws her a curve ball and her life is changed forever.
She goes from Coloring inside the lines, to learning to live outside of her picture perfect life.

If you want a great read I would most deffinenty suggest this book.
Can not wait to see more from this author!

Move over ladies of the silver screen, Lottie Langerman is about to take center stage. Her Fake Engagement is my introduction to Gigi Garrett and she left her stamp on my heart from the first page. Lottie is perfect romantic comedy material. A single girl searching for love in the big city. Her sisters of the heart and her borderline obsession land her in some crazy situations, but she always muddles through with laughter, optimism and friendships intact. Sisterhood, satire and sex appeal make for an entertaining story.

This was a new author for me and I enjoyed her style of writing. It was a short, hot, hilarious little summer read and I look forward to discovering more books from Ms. Gigi.

Lottie was a fresh and fun single New Yorker who knows what she wants and won’t stray from it. She has a list of do’s and don’t when it comes to her future boyfriend/husband. What I always noticed with list’s is that you should make them and then immediately throw them away. Why? Because you either lose them in our purse or on the way to the store, or we end up finding something else (and often better) that completely deviates from the original list. Which is exactly what Tyler is, he checks off none of her boxes, however he is completely, insanely perfect.

Lottie discovers that when it comes to matters of the heart, you can’t make a list for it. You just have to close your eyes and jump in with both feet and your heart wide open and ready to accept love from a good man. Just because he looks different on paper (set check list on fire) doesn’t mean that he isn’t worth a shot.

I recommend this book to anyone who’s ever made a list and checked it twice.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. Manhattan real estate broker Lottie Langerman feels confident that if she follows her long list of dating rules, she’ll meet The One and her life will unfold exactly as planned. Everything changes when her best friend decides to throw a fake bachelorette party just to see what all the fuss is about and Lottie reluctantly agrees to play the role of bride-to-be for a night. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
