Another must read by Erin Nicholas! The perfect addition to the series, Kit and Dillion's story is fun and flirty, serious and surprising, ssnowy and steamy!

I loved Kit and Dillon! I loved them hard! They have been rivals for most of their lives but they have an underlying chemistry that they can't ignore. Both of them push the other one to be better versions of themselves.

This was one of my favorite quotes.

"Maybe. Maybe I'm the brave one. The one who's willing to take a chance here. The one who can see how f....ing amazing this can be."

In that moment I don't think that I could love Dillon any more!! Kit and Dillon just complemented each other and were an amazing couple!

This is the 3rd book in the Taking Chances series and was by far my favorite!! I loved Dillon and Kit from the previous two books and was excited to see where Erin Nicholas took this two or rather where they took us LOL! I so loved the competitiveness between Dillon and Kit, the way they constantly battled back and forth trying to one up each other totally made this read that bit more enjoyable and hard to put down.
I loved their history and everything about this couple is what you come to expect from an Erin Nicholas read it has plenty of "Oh Wow" moments right along with being funny enthralling and H.O.T

I liked the banter between Dillon and Kit, but found that the story fell flat once they got together and that the conflict to be resolved was pretty minor. I did like how Kit and Dillon brought out the best in each other professionally.

Loved the finale to the Chance trilogy. Kit and Dillon had great banter and hot sex. Erin Nicholas is definitely an automatic one click. Smart, capable, sexy heroines and hot, thoughtful, yet alpha heroes.

By far my favorite book of the entire series. I love how much Kit & Dillon are continually trying to one up each other. They've been doing it for years.

It seems every time there is some sort of disaster, they end up stranded together and their true feelings come out, if only for a brief time. This time is no different. In the process of making sure Kit's grandma is ok during a bad snowstorm, they end up stuck in her cabin to wait out the storm. Of course, they once again turn to competition and try to outdo each other by making chili. Things take another turn when the power goes out and they have to stick close together to stay warm.

Fires, s'mores and Chutes & Ladders take on a whole new meaning!

It takes some time, but they finally figure out that things go so much better when they work together instead of trying to outdo each other!

This was such a fun book to read. Were Kit Derby and Dillon Alexander really enemies? They were very competitive with each other over everything, and it certainly looked like they hated each other but looks can be deceiving. They pushed each other's buttons constantly which made it a very fun and entertaining read. Lots of laughs, but also lots of substance too. Oh, did I mention some great steamy romance? Yeah, it's got that too! It's a very entertaining read that is sure to keep you hooked from the first page right up until the end. This author never disappoints me. Highly recommended!!

This one. This one is my favorite—hands down, no questions asked—of Erin Nicholas’ Taking Chances series. I had high hopes for Turned Up, because the dynamics of Dillon + Kit caught my attention from the start, and now I’m finished, I can safely say that it lived up to—and exceeded—said expectations.

Let’s start with the basics, shall we? Turned Up is the third book in this series and, yes, before you ask, it can be read as a standalone. Though the couples from books one and two are mentioned—and there are things about each of them that absolutely make them worth reading—if you’re new to Chance, Nebraska, never fear. This book makes a great introduction to this series and, if you’re also new to Ms. Nicholas, a great introduction to this author.

Turned Up is smart, sexy, funny, sweet, and just… really freakin’ enjoyable. It’s feel-good romance {which I adore}, and it puts me in mind of a book that holds some of my best memories—Anne of Green Gables. The way Dillon + Kit push each other, fight each other, combust with one another reminded me of Anne + Gilbert so much that I couldn’t contain my smile. Their bickering, their challenges, their romance—*sigh*—not only took me down the White Way of Delight towards Memory Lane, but it forged a connection between me, the reader, and Dillon + Kit, the characters, that I felt was somewhat missing in the first two books of this series.

I really want to rave a little more about how much I enjoyed this book. About how I finished it, then wanted to start it again. About how I loved Dillon’s alpha intensity, Kit’s smarts and strength. About how wonderful it was to once again see women in untraditional roles in and around the town of Chance {which is one of my favorite things about this entire series} and also to see positive, banter-filled interactions between friends.

But instead, I’ll leave you with this: if you, like me, have fond memories of childhood nemeses growing up to be competitive rivals and then more—and want to add a little grown-up combustible chemistry to the equation—then you should take a chance on Turned Up. The sooner, the better.

Dillon and Kit have had sparks between them since they were kids. They were competitive growing up and the sparks never stopped flying through out high school. As adults they find the chemistry is still there, just changed. This is a sweet love story that is light and easy to read. It’s well written and I enjoyed reading it. Now I want to go back and read the first 2 books in the series that I missed.

Fun, flirty, sexy, tender, competitive. Kit and Dillon were a great match, constantly pushing one another to new heights and achievements that they wouldn't otherwise reach without one another. There could definitely have been more conflict between the two of them with all the bickering, but this was done really well in that the biggest issue for Kit was slightly unexpected. I was sure that there would be a big blow-up that made them realize that being softer in love would be the answer. What happened was surprising and way, way better.

I loved Kit despite thinking that she was a little bit hard. This is the first book in the series I've read so I had no idea what I would get other than what the synopsis intimated. I didn't get a chance to know Kit from the periphery through the friendship in the other books but reading this one first didn't have me at a disadvantage. Instead, what I got was pure, unadulterated Kit with her fire, desire, vulnerability, and passion. She is completely passionate about her life, her job, her home, her friends, and even Dillon. We find out that they have some seriously incendiary chemistry that draws them together time and time again. How Kit deals with being pulled back into his orbit over and over is sweet but also riddled with anxiety. Uncertain about his true motives for wanting her, she errs on the side of caution with a large side of sexy times. That could work out to lasting happiness, right?

Luckily there's Dillon on the other side of their crazy union. Dillon seems to be argumentative just for the thrill of it because he can't resist riling up Kit. From the time they first clashed in the third grade until now he's always needling her, pushing her, fighting with her. Loving her. He just wasn't fully aware of it until a snowstorm blew in and trapped them at her grandma's house. Here, under the covers of a blanket fort and warmed by a fire and s'mores he could truly see Kit for the first time, the Kit that often hid underneath all the cool, collected kick ass heroine that she usually portrays. She's actually both things. A kick ass woman with a softer side that only those closest to her are lucky enough to see. Dillon is determined to love her and uses all the tools he has available to him to get her to give in, for the long-term.

The story was cute and fun and also relate-able. I fell in love with these characters and their town. I want to go back and read the other two books in the story to see the other kick ass women and their men struggle to find and keep their love despite all the natural disasters that seem to find them and their town.

Dillon Alexander and Kit Derby have competed against each other since grade school and supposedly hated each other. Until Senior year in high school, when they pushed each other a little too far and sparks ignited. Dillon left town for 10 years. He got a medical degree. Kit got a psychiatry degree. Apparently, they’ve slept together a few times over the years spur of the moment. None of their friends or family the wiser, and Kit leaving as soon as the deed was done.

I had a hard time liking Kit. She really annoyed and irritated me. For a psychiatrist who seemed to do so well with her clients, she was immature in her thinking and actions, and sabotaged herself multiple times.

Dillon tolerated a lot of crap from Kit. The man had undeniable patience. He was definitely the adult in the relationship.

I just couldn’t connect with these two and struggled to even finish the book.

This is my first book by this author, so also my first in the series. Maybe if I had read the previous books, but I doubt I would have liked Kit any better.

Dillon and Kit have been competing against each other since their school days, oftentimes leading to arguments and one upping each other to the nth degree.

Nothing has changed as adults, only the stakes are higher. They are both doctors and for the first time in their lives, they are practicing medicine in their hometown. The only difference is that Kit is a psychiatrist and Dillon is an ER trauma specialist.

When sparks fly between them, Dillon fans the flame until the fire is raging. Knowing that Kit will overanalyze this to death, he doesn't allow her to run and hide. Rather he does his best to convince her that being together will only make their competitions even more fun.

Turned Up is the third book in the Taking Chances series. I have read the first two books and you can check out my thoughts on those later in the month in our September Mini Musings post. Having now read all three, I can say that you can read this one as a stand alone. It held up pretty well even though the couples from the first two books show up in this one.

The story picks up about seven months after the events of the second book, Tangled Up. This is Kit and Dillon's story. As with the first two, it's a friends to lovers troupe and I enjoyed it. This couple has been in competition since grade school. They have always tried to one up the other one. They have also secretly loved each other for years. I was rooting for them to make it. The story is a bit short, only taking place over a couple of weeks, but their history made it believable.

This is a fun series and one I highly recommend. I look forward to seeing what this author comes up with next.

I have mixed feelings on this book from an author I usually really enjoy. While the story itself and the remainder of the series was enjoyable, there were times when I was just annoyed by the heroine, Kit. Both Dillon and Kit have competed with one another since elementary school and apparently have harbored secret crushes on one another since high school. So when circumstances force them together, it comes as no big surprise that they act on those feelings. But for these two, that is nothing unusual. What is unusual is that Dillon finally wants to force the issue of them actually admitting their feelings and having a relationship. I guess what bothered me about Kit is that she is supposedly a successful therapist and she can't ever express her feelings while always giving others advice. Her solution is always to escape. While Dillon is portrayed as the man who doesn't talk yet he is the one trying the hardest to talk to Kit. Maybe it was just the role reversal that seemed off to me but otherwise it was a good small town contemporary romance.

Turned Up is the third book in the Taking Chances series by author Erin Nichols. This can be read as a standalone, however, I recommend reading the previous books in this series...Twisted Up (book one), and Tangled Up (book two).

Dillon Alexander, a world-renowned trauma specialist, has just returned back to his hometown of Chance, Nebraska to work at the hospital. Being home means he will be back in the same town and working at the same hospital as Kit Derby...a woman he's known and competed with all of his life. He has always had feelings for Kit...feelings that have never gone away. He has no idea how he will be able to be in the same town as Kit without telling her how he feels, but he is about to find out.

Kit is the town psychiatrist, and works at the same hospital as her childhood nemesis, Dillon. Kit has a history with Dillon, both good and bad...including feelings that she's denied for a very long time. A blizzard is raging, and Kit can't get in contact with her grandmother. The road to her grandmother's house has been closed down due to drifting snow, and Kit wants to make sure she is okay. Dillon is taking a snowbile out to check on some patients, and offers to take Kit to check on her grandmother. Unfortunately, they arrive at her grandmother's house only to find she's not there. After making some calls, Kit finds out her grandmother went to her sister Tina's house in the morning. It is now dark, the temperature is dropping, and the snow is still falling. Dillon decides it is safer for them to spend the night there, especially since it is fifteen miles to go back into town. It might be cold outside, but things heat up quickly inside.

I am a huge fan of the Taking Chances series, and this one does not disappoint. I have been waiting for the story of Dillon and Kit, and I have to admit it was definitely worth the wait. The opening of the book immediately pulls you in, and keeps you engaged throughout. The author uses humor quite often, making the banter between Dillon and Kit hilarious at times. The rivalry between them is obvious, and so is the chemistry. Underneath it all, they have a solid friendship, and that is the key to their relationship being successful in the end. One thing I truly enjoy about reading a series is the opportunity to revisit with the characters from the previous books in the series. Erin Nichols does a fantastic job of tying together the lives and friendships of the characters featured in this series.

Overall, this is the perfect emding to end the series! I feel that each book in the series is worth reading, especially since the characters appear in all three. I hope you decide to give this book, and series, a chance...you will not be disappointed!

Excellent ending to the series!!!

Kit and Dillon have been competing against each other to be the best since the third grade. That competitive edge to their relationship just means more fireworks when they get together. Their interactions are full of heat, fight, and explosive chemistry. I loved how they pushed each other to see another perspective and even though they've known each other forever, there's still things that they don't know about the other. I will definitely miss the characters from Chance but this book couldn't have had a more perfect ending!!!

While working together one night during their senior year, they stopped bickering long enough to share an emotionally charged kiss. But a tragedy that same night left them both racked with guilt, driving Dillon out of town and leaving Kit determined to keep her distance.

Now an emergency room physician, Dillon has returned to their hometown of Chance, Nebraska. Soon he and Kit fall back into old habits, sparring in public while trying to stay out of each other’s arms. But when a blizzard traps them overnight at Kit’s grandmother’s farmhouse, the real competition begins: Who will be the first to give in to the feelings they’ve denied for a decade?

This is a rival-to-lovers romance that EVERYONE loves to read. I loved that back and forth banter they had going and the heat of the relationship. It was HOT!!! I thought at first it was going to be one of those wishy washy romances, but that wasn't the case - at all!!! This is one that the author outdid herself. Pick it up and read and you won't be sorry. It only took me about 4 hours to read without interruptions.

This was amazing.

Granted, Turned Up, the third in Erin Nicholas's Taking Chances trilogy, combines quite a few elements I tend to enjoy--a second chance, so to speak, a rivals-to-lovers thing, a small town, and competent characters? I'm ALL over that. But Ms Nicholas combines them so well, in a story that gives me all the feels in a fresh, captivating way. She had my emotions tied up with theirs as they hit the highs and bumps on the road to finding a way to be happy together.

Dillon and Kit have had this mutually antagonistic competitive thing going for ages--it's not a real surprise to anyone except possibly themselves that it's a thinly veiled expression of deeper, softer feelings they have for each other. Because they have had over a decade to get to know each other and to keep pushing the other, the story is less external, and more focused on their internal landscapes. Ms Nicholas kicked a$$ with that, quite honestly. Their thoughts and conversations are highly entertaining as well as moving and revealing. Ms Nicholas captures so well their emotions and desires--it's such a pleasure to read.

In case this sounds as if there isn't action, please let me be clear--there is plenty of action, of all varieties, and Ms Nicholas writes that beautifully as well. This story is exciting and engaging on all levels!

Because this is the last in the series, we do see mention of previous couples. I do think this story could stand alone, but the trilogy is even better read together.

Turned Up is definitely on my keeper shelf--looking forward to rereading all three soon!
