love small town romance. Love the crazy cast of characters that live in the small town. Love how they all rally around each other, stepping in to help anytime, anywhere, sometimes overstepping.

But there's just something I love more than I usually do in this Taking Chances series. I think it's just how well the characters are developed, and how damn likable they are. You can't help but root for them and their romances to blossom.

Take Dillon and Kit, for example. Lord, they've been in competition with each other since they were kids. Bigger, faster, stronger, smarter . . . they bring out both the best and the worst in each other. They're amazing individually, but when combined together for a common purpose, get out of the way because they're gonna make it happen.

I loved their somewhat enemies-to-lovers story. Loved watching them realize that together they were so much better-that together they could really be something special. Sigh. And swoon.

I also loved catching up with the rest of the gang in the series too-checking in on Aver and Jake and Mac and Bree. I'm going to miss these characters as this excellent Taking Chances series is wrapped up. Heck of a way for it to end, though!

Dillon Alexander and Kit Derby have been each others nemeses since childhood. But now that they have both settled back in their hometown, things are about to heat up between them...

I enjoyed this book and the back and forth between Dillon and Kit was entertaining. Kit is the town psychologist while Dillon is a Dr, and they constantly butt heads. With a complicated past and a strong mutual attraction, the fireworks between these two are inevitable.

This book also revisits the friends of Dillon and Kit that have found their HEA's in previous books, and this story was a nice conclusion to the series.

I loved the competitive spirit between Kit and Dillon as they constantly battled back and forth trying to one up each other. My favorite part was when they were stranded in the snow storm and Dillon put a creative spin on the Chutes and Ladders game.

Dillon Alexander is sexy, exciting and larger than life hero doctor that has been away from home far to long and is now back home for good. Kit Derby is sexy, poised and always on top of her game except when it comes to Dillon turning on the charm, thankfully it only happens on the rare occasions they are alone, until Dillon moves back home to Chance. Highly romantic and fun cuddle up in bed reading.

In Turned Up, Erin Nicholas turns up the relationship between Kit & Dillon from competitors to lovers. They both realize that they're better together and work as a team seamlessly. During the first two books in the series, you get the sense that there's more to their history than meets the eye, and Ms. Nicholas delivers another wonderful, sort-of, second chance for these two. S'mores and fireplace tents will forever remind me of their story.

Turned Up is the 3rd book in Taking Chances series by Erin Nicholas and oh boy! What a way to end Dillon and Kit’s story…. “swoon”

Dillon was born and raised in Chance, Nebraska but left to go into the military with his cousins (Jake Mitchell from Twisted Up, Book 1 and Max Grady from Tangled Up, Book 2) and became a military doctor with Doctors Without Borders then an ER doctor in the city. Now 10 years later he returns to Chance to help rebuilt the town after a devastating tornado comes through, during cleanup he is paired with Kit the town’s psychiatrist and also the girl he has competed against since they were 8 years old and the feelings he has had for her all these years keeps him competing with her. He leaves again to go back to the city but feels like he left something behind….so he quits his ER job and moves back to Chance and begins work in the hospital. Now he sees Kit every day and they are still competing with each other…..until a snowstorm hits Chance and they get stranded at her grandmother’s house during the storm. Kit knows that she has been in love with Dillon for a very long time but she thinks he just wants to compete with her…until they electric goes out at her grandmother’s and they have to stay in the room with the fireplace…build fort from blankets, play Chutes and Ladder and finally…hopefully figure out what all the bickering is about and whether it’s just the circumstances of the storm or whether it will lead to taking a chance on the love that is in their hearts…..and find their HEA.

I just love Erin Nicholas books. They are hot, romantic and hold your attention to the end.
Dillion and Kit are both are head strong, intelligent people who are determined to turn everything in to a competition. They get stuck at Kit's grandmothers cabin when they go to check on her, only to find she isn't there and the snowstorm is raging and its to bad to try and make it back to town. Their adventure makes you want to make S'more, Chili and build blanket forts.

I love Erin Nicholas' books...there hasn't been one that I haven't enjoyed. Her characters are engaging...from the hero and heroine, to their families and friends, to the members of their communities. The sexy times are hot, sweet and, well, sexy! They are the kind of books I cannot put down until I finish it...and then I'm sad it's over!
But I have mixed feelings about Turned Up. While I was very excited to read Dillon and Kit's story, because I liked what I read about them in books 1 & 2, their interactions frustrated me. Kit and Dillon have chemistry to spare, but she makes everything a competition, dating back to second grade. Dillon humors her, but he's ready to move beyond competing and into the relationship phase. But our favorite therapist can't get out of her head to get there.
I also was hoping that book three took place during and immediately after the tornado that the earlier books were set in. So, the snowstorm threw me off. I enjoyed the setting, but it just showcased again the glacial pace these two enemies-to-lovers took to get together (not that they were enemies...they were really always friends)
But for all my nit-pickiness, I really did like the book. I loved Dillon; he's a straight shooter, get-it-done kind of guy. Kit was a bit too intense for my taste, but I didn't dislike her. All in all, another solid, enjoyable Erin Nicholas read!

I LOVE the Taking Chances series by Erin Nicholas. Turned Up is the third book in this wonderful series, and I am almost sure, my absolute favorite.
Dillon and Kit, have been butting heads most of their lives. They have each pushed the other to better themselves thru friendly competition, well most of the time, ok maybe not even some of the times. But, over the years, emotions override their judgement and they kiss, the first time as seniors in high school. Now, both stuck at her grandmother’s house during a snow storm, a whole lot more than kissing is involved, and they are both ready to admit they have feelings for each other. Now, they are not fighting each other anymore. Then, they mayor’s wife…. Oops, sorry no spoilers, let me just say, she makes Kit think some things over, and almost…. Darn it, I said no spoilers. You will need to read this book to find out what happens.
Thank you, Ms. Nicholas for writing the stories you do. You have a way of drawing your readers into a book so that they never want to leave.

There is nothing better in some competition in a romance story. That is what you will find concerning Dillion and Kit. They have been in completion forever and now they are working together. The sexual tension is high and they have to learn to work around it. What happens when they decide to take things to the next level?
This was a great book and it flowed together seamlessly

I am torn because I have loved previous stories by the author but this book I just couldn't get into and I don't know why. Usually her stories I am engaged in the story and hate it when it ends but this one was not the case. I don't like giving fewer than 4 stars unless there are major errors but I missed something here.

While it isn't necessary to read this series in order, I found it helpful. I loved Kit and Dillon's story. These two go back years and have a love-hate relationship. While others don't understand why they fight in public, I was excited to see them finally come to terms with the love between the two of them.

They are great at challenging each other, and while they had their own set of personal challenges as a couple, I was so happy with the end results - and they may have been my favorite story out of the three books.

We have bit and pieces of kit and Dillon in the first two books of Taking Chances, and now we get their whole story, and it did not disappoint. Loved their chemistry, even though they tried to fight it off. They have known each other since grade school, always competing against each other. Now they are both practicing physicians in Chance. They are stranded at Kit's grandma's house during a blizzard. They still compete against each other while stranded, playing Chutes and Ladders, just wow!

The banter between the two will leave you smiling through out the book. Who knew that building blanket forts and making s'mores was so sexy!! Very real characters that I could relate to. I'm sad to say good by to Chance Nebraska.

This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this book by Erin Nicholas.

Dillon and Kit have tried to best each other since grade school and their chemistry is off the charts. Their banter is not only witty and snarky but heartfelt. Not only do they bring out the best in each other they keep each other going and the world around them. Even though they keep finding themselves stuck together and when they do their clothes seem to fall off, Kit still runs away. When they find themselves snowed in overnight she is not able to run and a game of Shutes and Ladder and s'mores in a blanket fort brings out the truth that has been buried for years. Can they survive letting their love shine in the real world or will it soften both of them up to the point neither can do their job. Something tells me they will be okay and still find a way to challenge each other until the end of time. Only these two could handle the other one (as their friends say, anyone else would have smothered them in their sleep). '

I definitely recommend this book and it could be read as a standalone but I recommend the other books in the series too!

I loved, I laughed, and I cried reading Turned Up by Erin Nicholas, her third book in the Taking Chances series. Ms. Nicholas knows how to create a sexy and loving story, especially for these two nemesis who cross boundaries moving to friends and then lovers. This story is about Dillon Alexander and Kit Derby, both doctors at the hospital in Chance, competitors to the end. If Kit said the sky was blue Dillon would say it was gray, just to get a rise out her. These two had an attraction that was beyond belief and how they fought it for so long is beyond me. When these two get stranded at Kit’s grandma’s house during a blizzard, let’s just say there are sorts of ways to turn kid games into a strip down version for adults. That is, given enough motivation and the right competition. I can’t remember too many times, laughing while reading a love scene, but Erin managed to write some funny sex scenes in this book that you do not want to miss. She saved the best couple for last.

I really loved reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Nicholas wove a wonderful story, drawing me in and not letting go until I read the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers.

Turned Up is the third book in the Taking Chance. Whilst I have read the other books in the series prior to reading this, I think Turned Up can be read standalone.

Dillon Alexander and Kit Derby have been trying to best each other since third grade. Lurking under the competitive streak is an attraction they try to ignore until a shared kiss in senior year. Unfortunately, a tragic event resulted in Dillon leaving town and nothing becoming of the kiss.

Following a series of tornados and storms wreaking his hometown, Dillon returns home to work in a yet so similar but dissimilar field as Kit's. Turfs are crossed, sparks fly and are denied, and the weather does what it does best in Chance, Nebraska.

Most contemporary romance readers need no introduction to Erin Nicholas, New York Times and USA Today best selling author. She has delivered yet again in the third instalment of the Taking Chance series.

I struggled to get into the first couple of chapters but once over the hump, I loved the characters (Dillon and Kit) and their vulnerabilities knowing that despite being the best in their field, had moments of insecurities and also strived to be better. I loved the 'check and balance', their dialogue and sparring conversation and perhaps thoughts.

Overall, it was a pleasant read and I'll recommend the book.

Trust Erin Nichols to give new meaning to some things put on this planet, be it marshmallows, candy canes, champagne and not limited to (mind you) and now Chutes and Ladders, which happens to be one of my all time favorite board games when I was growing up! And what can be more fun than us reading Kit Derby and her childhood nemesis Dillon Alexander succumbing to their lust over a game of chutes and ladders? I would say totally orgasmic.

This story is my favorite of the three books in the “Taking Chances” series. It’s like Erin saved the best for the last. “Turned Up” is so much more sexily argumentative, humorously bickering, erotically charming, and emotionally challenging The ER physician and the psychiatrist, one deals with the physical and the other of the mind, and when these two come together in a snowstorm, it’s nothing short of a “Turned Up” explosion.

As I said, Erin is maestro of imagination and the queen of plotting. The one-liners are rib tickling, the rapport and teasing between Jake, Max and Dillon is heartwarming, and the passion between Dillon and Kit is combustible, a piece of art worth every engaging word and explosive feeling!

This is the first series by Erin Nicholas that I have had the opportunity to read. I have the privilege of being on the ARC team for book 3, Turned Up. I quickly downloaded books 1 & 2 (which happen to occur simultaneously) and enjoyed both very much. I was happily surprised that book 3 starts where the other two leave off. All three can be read as stand alone stories. The small town of Chance, Nebraska is full of weather events. EF4 tornados and blizzards cause destruction of buildings and the walls that have been built up around the hearts of some of its most influential members. Kit and Dillon have been in competition since the third grade. They push each other to achieve more than either of them thought they could. When they work together on projects they argue and push each other's buttons while creating a combustible chemistry. Kit and Dillon have great respect for each other and have to decide if spending time together will result bodily injury or pleasure. I can't wait to read more books by Erin Nicholas!
