A very sweet, sexy romance. Dillon and Kit are not like any couple I've read before. They have known each other since grade school. They have always pushed each other to do better. But it got really old hearing how competitive Dillon and Kit are. Tidbits of info kept circling around and around.

One thing I do have to commend Ms. Nicholas about... This is the third book in a series, but completely a stand alone book. This is the only book I've read from this series and I never once felt lost. If you are wanting a romance more on the sweet side, this might be the perfect book/series for you.

This last book in the trilogy does not disappoint. The books are standalones if you haven’t read the other two. Kit and Dillon have been rivals all of their lives; each pushing the other one on to bigger and better things. Now they are both back in Chance and could it be the time is right for them to get together? This book brings back all of the beloved characters from Chance, and is a great read! Terrific job Erin Nicholas!

I’m torn about this one, because in some ways it was my favourite of the series, but in others it really, really wasn’t. I love a good enemies to lovers romance and all series Kit and Dillan have been building up to be a good one with their naturally competitive natures having turned their whole lives into a giant oneupmanship contest. So I was pretty excited to see how it all turned out.

Well, mostly I’m baffled. Because, yes, the pair of them are competitive, but they also make a great team and have shown this many times in the past. They’ve also hooked up on several occasions. But they’re not together. Why aren’t they together?

Kit. Quite frankly that woman is a mess. She’s also a fraud, because she spends all her time dishing out advice to all and sundry and acting all together and smart and kind of better than everyone else. Because she’s a talker, she can talk about feelings. Which makes her so much better than Dillan, because he just does things. Except when it comes to her own feelings and sorting herself out, because there Kit is a big old failure. And there were times when I really didn’t like her very much.

Kit is a mess and it annoyed me.

And yet I loved most of their time together in the cabin. When Kit isn’t thinking about stuff they’re so cute together. It’s sexy as well as cute and a good old love lock in. Mostly because Dillan isn’t a mess. He’s focused and he knows what he wants – Kit – and isn’t afraid to cut through the nonsense to try and get her.

Away from the cabin there’s some more cuteness, plus some more gratuitous messiness from Kit, because in truth there is no reason why these two didn’t get together years ago. Though it’s probably best for everyone else that they didn’t, because they’re so competitive and motivated together that they’d probably end up taking over the world.

So, as I said, I’m torn on this one. It’s great that they finally get together and I loved their time in the cabin, I just wish there had been a more viable reason for why they didn’t before (especially given all the opportunities), and why it still isn’t all perfect and easy once they do other than Kit’s excessive messiness. Maybe if Dillan had been given a share of the doubts and uncertainties I might have liked it better, but he doesn’t, which just leaves Kit as the problem. And that, sadly, was a problem for me and stopped me from loving this as much as I would have liked.

Turned Up by Erin Nicholas is book #3 in the Taking Chances series. This is a great book that is well written. It is fun, sexy and engaging story. It is about Kit and Dillon, childhood rivals that grow-up to share an undeniable and sizzling chemistry. Do not miss this wonderful book. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

Challenging Love.
Dillon and Kit have been arguing and in competition against each other all their lives, with the exception of four occasions when they went up in flames with each other. In the past Kit has always run after the combustion but now that Dillon is living in the same town is that still possible? A fun and sexy rivals to lovers story.
Can be read as a standalone.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

This book is an interesting, funny read, with two strong and likeable main characters that are adversaries and rub each other the wrong way in spite of the pull of attraction since they were very young.
Erin Nicholas really handles well the mingling of sex, tenderness and affections, the constant banter between hero and heroine and the different points of view, the hero’s with a distinct male tone to it.
I loved the way the author wrote the shift in their relationship, all that complexity was not easy to deal with.
But the story’s initial intensity turns into the overanalyzing of the relationship, thoughts, feelings and emotions by the main characters and their friends, lots of sex scenes (always with that Nicholas’ touch of sexual affection), things that I find a bit dull; and sometimes the story reminded me of a sitcom.

Turned Up is the third in the Taking Chances series and tells Dillon and Kit's story. Rivals since grade school, Dillon and Kit push each other to be the best they can be. All the bickering and fighting do little to hide the love and lust that developed between them as teenagers. Heavily laced with humor, the story unfolds with enough fire between the main characters to set the pages aflame. A book that is fun and sexy at the same time for a great HEA read. My review is based upon an ARC provided through Netgalley.

have had some issues with the characterisation of the women in the previous books in this series so I waited with bated breath for this one - I loved it!

Dillon Alexander and Derby have been arch rivals since kindergarten. He's the big bad ex-Marine, all-round celebrity emergency doctor who has recently returned to be an ER doctor in his home town of Chance, Nebraska. She's the local psychiatrist, essential when your small town is in the tornado alley and suffers more tornadoes than anywhere else in the USA.

Kit has secretly been in love with Dillon since she was 16 years old but after a steamy kiss led to unbearable tragedy Dillon left town and has rarely been seen since. It's probably just as well because every time Dillon and Kit do meet in public they fight like cats and dogs, but when they meet in private it all gets far more X-rated.

Can these two ever sop fighting long enough to discover what they have in common? Will being trapped alone in a snow storm help them or will they be too busy, gettin' busy?

I loved everything about this. Dillon was great and Kit was a strong confident woman. I particularly liked the conflict near the end of the book, it felt real and EXACTLY the sort of concern a woman like Kit would (and should) have when entering into a relationship like this. Finally, Erin NIcholas has allowed her kick-ass female character to stay that way.

The angst about the past was suitably low key and almost irrelevant.

Thoroughly recommended for those who like small-town romances between two people who were rivals almost from birth. Delicious.

Wow! I knew I was going to love Kit & Dillon's story but this book far surpassed my expectations! This was the perfect ending to this short series, even though I wish it didn't have to end! Does it really have to end Erin Nicholas? I would have to say in my opinion it is the best of the 3 books and I loved the other two as well. Kit & Dillon are absolutely perfect together! They push and challenge each other constantly to be better and really are the perfect complement to the other. He is the town Doctor and she is the town Psychologist. They are both people everyone in the town looks up to and looks to for guidance which is what makes them such a power couple once they do get together. They have serious chemistry that has been building since grade school. After a few scattered sexy rendezvous throughout the years and a lot of head-butting and challenges thrown out to each other, one night stuck together in a blizzard changes everything. This relationship has been on a slow simmer for so many years that once they finally come together and admit their feelings for each other it is nothing short of spectacular! They have to get over just a couple of hurdles once they get back to reality but their love is too big to deny. There is so much to love about this book it has just the right blend of heat, humor and holy wow moments! I don't think I will ever think of Chutes & Ladders, s'mores or blanket forts the same way again!!

Turned Up is the third romance of the Taking Chances series, and I loved it!

Dillon Alexander and Kit Derby have been rivals since third grade, and while this rivalry has challenged each character and pushed them to be the best versions of themselves, it has also enabled them to try to ignore and deny their feelings for each other.

Dillon and Kit have an entertaining push and pull aspect to their relationship. They're snarky and witty, and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter as well as the underlying sexual tension.

Being snowed in by the blizzard finally forced the two to open up and talk in a way that they had not allowed themselves to in the past. That setting was so enjoyable! Sexy and sweet, fun and emotional.
From there Kit and Dillon had to work together and figure out how to be a strong, loving couple and still challenge and encourage each other to be their best selves.

Furthermore, the interaction and friendship between all the characters and couples in the series was so great! I hadn't read the previous books, but guess what I will be doing now...

Another spectacular addition to the Taking Chances series by Erin Nicholas. I have been anxiously awaiting Kit and Dillon’s story, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait!

Kit and Dillon are two strong, intelligent, type A personalities that have been in competition with each other for over twenty years - neither one recognizing, or at least admitting to themselves, the true nature of their feelings for each other. Their chemistry is electric and sparks fly in one way or another when they are together. In public they spar and battle each other - in private, closed spaces, they can’t seem to resist each other. They each constantly push each other while trying to be the best, to “win” over the other, and in doing so, push each other to be the best they can be. When they are trapped together, alone, in a snowstorm, overnight, the feelings they have hidden for each other can’t help but surface. I know I’ll never look at a Chutes and Ladders game again without thinking of Kit and Dillon!

The love and respect they have for each other jumps off the pages and grabs your heart. You can’t help but root for these two. Their banter was downright laugh out loud at times and at others just made your eyes tear up with so much love for them.

I love this series and highly, highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who loves contemporary romance. It has everything you are looking for.

This book was a fantastic story. I loved it. The connection tion between the main characters was off the charts. My favorite part was when they played the game chutes and ladders. This story had romance and will have you laughing at these two as they reconnected. Definitely a book I would recommend. Erin Nicholas writes a very good story. It will keep you turning the pages until your done.

A fun, sexy, hot couple with flirty banter. A light hearted read to pass time on bored days.

Sexy, smart and lots of fun

Erin Nicholas had created a wonderful town with an amazing cast of characters.
In Turned Up Dillon and Kit finally get their HEA. I loved that they have a competitive past, present and future which makes them stronger and better people. Somehow their respectful combativeness makes the relationship work.

I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I honestly don't think there has been a book by this author that I haven't loved. This book, Kit and Dillon's, is probably my favorite of this trilogy. I loved everything about it! It touched on every emotion, every part of my heart. These two have been through so much, but never realized their true feelings for each other in high school. Would they have made it back then? Who knows, but I think they had to go through what they have to appreciate their future.

4 – 4.5 Stars!

This is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone. Unlike the first two books that took place simultaneously during the tornado, this book takes place months later during a snow storm.

If you’ve read the prior books in the series, then you’ve been waiting for this one. We finally get Dillon and Kat’s story. The only thing we ever saw them do in the prior two books was fight with one another, but we knew something was going on behind the scenes; we knew they had history. Now we finally get to see what happens when they are alone together - apparently their clothes fall off!

Kit and Dillon have been attracted to one another since high school. They are fiercely competitive with one another, and are both very stubborn, so they – although mostly Kat – refused to accept their attraction to one another. Of course everyone knew they would be a perfect match for each other. It was fun watching them figure out how to change their relationship from adversaries, to a couple who supports each other, while still challenging each other.

Author Erin Nicholas saved the best for last in her Taking Chances series with Dillon and Kit's story. These two had amazing chemistry and I loved following their complicated relationship where they brought out the best in each other. This author knows how to incorporate just the perfect blend of romance, humor, witty bantering and sexy times in her stories. I really enjoyed the friendships throughout this series which had me smiling. What a terrific way to end this series!

Dillon and Kit have known each other since High School and always challenged each other to see who would come in first in anything they both went after. Dillon returns to his home town after being away for years. He still has a thing for Kit and secretly Kit has always crushed on Dillon. Can Dillon get Kit to let down her defenses and give them a chance or will the competition between them always get in the way.

This is a sweet romance by Erin Nicholas. It's a very enjoyable read, but that's not unexpected since Ms. Nicholas always delivers a fun, sexy story.

Turned Up (Taking Chances) is the third book about the people (and of course the women) of Chance, Nebraska.
To be honest – I was happy, that we don´t have to recap the tornado again from a different perspective.

„Turned Up“ is about Kit Derby, psychiatrist and Dillon Alexander, emergency room physician and one of the citys golden boys. They have a long history, challenging each other all the time since third grade and bring out the best from each other. Dillon came back to Chance in the aftermath of the last tornado and now they work together at the local hospital and try to open a free clinic for the population who cannot afford proper treatment. And they fight over everything.

But they also have a history of sexual chemistry, „erupting“ at certain situations. So Kit tried to avoid any situation which might result in another encounter....

But then they stuck in her grandmothers home during a blizzard – and you need to stay close to the other person to stay warm..... or getting hot...

I really liked that at some point both know that they are destined to be together, but especially Kit doesn´t know how to deal with the challenges a relationship between both of them. She fears that she will loose her „drive“.

„Turned Up“ can be read as a stand-alone book – you meet some of the people known from the previous books, but you will not have any problems to dive into the book.

I cannot explain why – but maybe Turned Up is my favourite of the three „Taking Chances“ books – maybe because this couple really missed some chances and now they took their second or third or fourth one....

My absolut favourite sentence was this one: ...the weather here might really suck sometimes, but it sure does stir some fun....
