I just enjoy the Walking Dead Series, and I enjoyed this book. Lilly Caul and a large group of survivors from Woodbury have been living in Atlanta IKEA store for about three years. It’s good for these survivors with almost everything needed to survive. But the main character wants to go back to Woodbury, is it a good decision? I don't think so. But just read the book.

I would recommend reading the series in order, as this one is the eight one on the "Waliking dead's" spin off series , so you can feel a little lost if you haven't read the previous ones. In this series, we follow the character of Lilly Caul, who sort of takes after the Governator is "destituted" (to put it midly), and despite the fact that she has managed to establish a refugee zone on Atlanta and hold the fort so to speak for around 4 years, she still wants to go back to Woodbury, home for her (and where it all began). So, the book is her journey back alongside a bunch of characters who decide to tag along, Expect zombies, death by zombies, and obviously, things related to the Walking Dead franchise.

Another, very good, installment in the Walking Dead series. Full of action, zombie gore, and the evil we humans are capable of.

What a happy camper am I! I was dropping into this series right here, with this book, and I liked it just fine. There were some, here come the oh-so-predictable stupid decisions, but the TV series does that as well. Lilly and survivors are holed up in Atlanta. It's cozy enough and comfy, and now they have to go back to Woodbury. Commence zombies and all the feel of the series on TV. What's next for Lilly? I wouldn't mind reading more and knowing!

My copy came from Net Galley. My thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is left of my own free volition.

I don't usually read this kind of book but I do like watching The Walking Dead so I decided to give this a chance.

I got bored with this book at some parts and I just had a hard time reading it so I am not reviewing it .

Loved this book. It was one of the best in the series. It was non stop action. I was hooked from the first page. Can't wait for the next one.

You know those books that you can't put down? Yep. This is one of them. I never read book 1 so I have no clue if it is about The Walking Dead characters we know and love from the television show. This is a whole new bunch of people. Not even of the Fear of the Walking Dead bunch. I loved the characters right away. The slip of Rick Grimes's name near the end lets you know it is a part of the same series.

And who wouldn't want to live in an IKEA? What a great place to ride out the apocalypse? But our fearless leader has other plans, against this reader shouting to stay put.

I don't like reading books out of order but it was available on NetGalley and I couldn't resist. I'm glad I got to read it. Especially since the new season doesn't start until, what, the 18th or something. And I had just finished another binge of all the seasons on, I think, Netflix. Yeah, including Negan's bad behavior. So I was jonesing for more TWD. This book filled the sudden void.

If you are going to read it, block out a space in the daytime so you don't have to stay awake until the sun comes up in the morning. It is THAT good!

There is such a large cast of characters I found it difficult at times keeping everyone straight and since I don't watch the show or read the first book in the series I was jumping in the deep in of the pool. I love Zombie stories and while this story does't disappoint it didn't really thrill me either. The story was just there as a fill in for those in need of a Walking Dead fix.
The story is graphic as all the other zombie stories and while it isn't about Zombies but more about the nature of humans and how they will do anything to survive.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher homas Dunne Books for the advance copy

Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity to read Return to Woodbury for review.

To start with I am a fan of both The Walking Dead comics and The Walking Dead tv series. I have not however read any of the books in this spin off series before.

There was a lot that I did like about the book and a few things I didn't. I do think having read the previous books will make it a more fullfilling experience having more background on characters that survive and those that didn't. However, I was able to dive right in and enjoy the story without that background. The characters are mostly fully realized, you know what they are about right away. It was fun to read something in the walking dead world while waiting for the new season.

My main problem was that the action was almost literally non stop. One of the things I like about the main series, books and tv, is the moments of stillness in between.

Excerpt from Review: "...Was Return to Woodbury full of action? Oh, yeah! It all starts in the first pages with the hurricane hitting Cuba and a prisoner’s bid for survival. So yeah, things move fast and furious and the action is fun, if not a little disorienting at times. Is the novel true to the series, comic or television? Yes, definitely. Walkers are described perfectly and I loved the idea of the floodwaters not impeding them in the least. Is Return to Woodbury everything I had hoped it would be? Not quite. Though the action was gripping and the characters interesting, I felt like much of this had been done before and some of the deaths took place too soon in the storyline of some of the characters.

Jay Bonansinga writes very descriptively and I could see all the action taking place in my mind’s eye, but I just couldn’t enjoy the novel as much as I wanted to with the numerous discrepancies. Now, I know that this was not a final copy, just a reviewer’s copy. Thus, this mistake may be corrected before the book goes to print. But this is the copy of the book I received and I can only comment on the one I read, mistakes or no mistakes. I would definitely recommend this book to those who have already read all of the others in this series and if there is something good to be said about this book, I’m now even more interested in reading the ones that came before it."

5 stars. An excellent addition to an already great Woodbury series, expanding on the Walking Dead universe in the same excellent storytelling manner that the previous installments have done. Action packed with lots of gore, I really enjoy this series!!

This one was better than the previous novel but still the plotline kinda dragged on and on and it was a bit difficult keeping up with the new characters that were introduced. Bit surprised by the ending and am curious what will happen to Lily Caul next.

So, confession time.

I don’t read every book in this series. I pick them up based on whether or not the plot interest me. I’ve also gotten a bit away from TWD on TV and find that I’m preferring to sit down and read an epic book.

And I’m happy to say that Return to Woodbury is definitely epic.

Lily Caul is one kickass heroine! If you’ve got to be stuck in a z-poc, this is the woman you want watching her back. Despite my skipping around in the series, I was able to dive right into this one and found myself almost immediately involved in the characters and their struggle for survival.

Yes, you’ve got wonderful chompy things here, but you’ve also got some truly heartbreaking moments. And in true TWD style, no one is safe – especially the characters you love.

This book made me want to go back to some of the others in the series to see what I’ve missed.

5 very well deserved stars.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read The Walking Dead - Return to Woodbury. I am a BIG fan of the comic book, The Walking Dead. This book was a real treat and fans will "gobble" it up, tear it apart, and eat it up!
This is a fun book and I loved it.
