I hate to leave a bad review for an author as I imagine that their book is their baby. Unfortunately this book was not for me, I got hooked by the description but did not care for the writer's style. I'm not sure how to describe it other than to say it was just ..... off. I was unable to finish the book, maybe it gets better but I think life is to short for meh books.

WOW. Every twist and turn was unexpected. This book had me on the edge of my seat literally through the entire novel. At the end of every part, the authors surprised and thrilled. I read this book in two days - probably one of the fastest reads because I could not put it down for even a second!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Wife Between Us. Extremely well done were the many twists and turns in this novel. Did I say ‘many’? I meant ‘many, many, many’. And just as extremely well done was the authors’ talent for keeping all those twists and turns from becoming confusing.

It’s about marriage, obsession, and relationships, and the suspense and tension are riveting. The characters were captivating, the surprises were very clever, and the ending was totally unexpected, in a good way.

Kudos to Ms Hendricks and Ms Pekkanen for a book I will remember and recommend. Well done, ladies. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. It was definitely a page turner.

Despite all of the glowingly positive marketing and press around this book, I found it to be a slow moving dud trying to get by on its clever "twist". At this point I'm getting sick and tired of these Gone Girl/Girl on the Train desperate clones that call themselves thrillers and rely upon what the author(s) consider to be a you-never-see-it-coming twist without a tight story surrounding it.
The Wife Between Us tells the reader that they'll question their own assumptions about relationships and situations they think they understand, which is a tall order and pretty presumptuous. Is the ex-wife crazy, is her husband the perfect guy or a controlling monster, is the other woman living in fear of her fiancee's ex? These are all questions asked by the book, and answers are given then flipped around and around again. My problem was that I just didn't care one way or the other about the protagonist nor did I find myself surprised in any way by the obvious characterization of the husband/ex-husband. It all came across so dull to me. The first third of the book drags like crazy and even after we hit the first twist, that second third only gets moderately better. The ending is pretty much inline with the rest of the book as a humdrum snoozefest, but what really ticked me off was the ridiculous Epilogue. Wow, why did someone thing that was a good idea? As I was reading I just kept asking myself "ok, what's the big deal with this book?". There is no amazing story between these pages. The marketing being done on this, in my opinion, is completely overblown. This is not the thriller it's being made out to be; it's a middling Lifetime Original Movie at best.

Wow! What a page-turner. I read this book in one sitting staying up all night without realizing it. If you like books with twists and turns like Behind Closed Doors or Girl on the Train, you will love this. It kept me guessing until the end. I am an avid mystery and thriller reader and often have the book figured out halfway through but not this one. Right in the middle, when I thought I was figuring it out Bam! a huge change up which made me question everything I had previously read. Believe me, you want to read this book!

Absolutely loved this book! Kept me engaged the entire time. Twice I had to go back and re-read a few paragraphs to fully take in the plot. Excellent storytelling and pacing.

This was a very interesting book to read. My perception of the narrator shifts several times during this book. At first I am not sure if the narrator is reliable or crazy, but a shift occurs and the truth slowly emerges. It as an excellent vision inside the mind of someone that could be easily dismissed as vengeful or obsessed. As we learn more ,that opinion shifts and we see a woman who is trying to prevent the same experience from occurring to a younger women. It is a unique view of the the younger trophy wife. Good read and insightful.

This was one of the best books I have read in a very long time. Couldn't wait to pick it up each night in bed! Highly recommend

Great psychological thriller - it kept me guessing the whole time! Whenever I thought I had it figured out, there would be another twist. I can't say too much about it without giving the twists away but I highly recommend it. I received a super early ARC of this book so there are definitely a few minor inconsistencies that I hope will be addressed before it is actually released. Once you start this book, it will be hard to put down!

The Wife Between Us kept me engaged and guessing from page one. The suspense begins as the story does, and even as I learned more, I never once felt I was on a firm footing as to the facts of the story. Authors who use this strategy of building suspense risk frustrating the reader or even numbing them to the tension in the story, but Hendricks and Pekkanin handle this masterfully. The more I read, the more determined I became to find out what was going on.

I’m afraid this is a short review because I dare not reveal anything about the story for fear of spoilers. So I’ll simply say read this book. You’ll be drawn in. It’ll keep you guessing. You’ll love it.

This is one of the best books I have read in recent years. It starts out rather conventionally, a woman is seeing a man who has an ex-wife, and they are planning to get married, and the ex-wife is causing problems. And then, the book takes a complete turn off the expected path, and becomes extremely compelling. I couldn't put it down. And then, just when you think you know what is going on, it again goes completely off the rails, while remaining very compelling. It is very well written, and well copy edited (a pet peeve of mine, when spell-check puts in the wrong word, but it's spelled correctly and left in). I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers, but also anyone who likes contemporary literature as well. A very good read!!

By the second half of the book, I definitely could predict what was going to happen, but I must say I was definitely surprised by the first half of the book (though I was a bit confused at first, once I figured it out, I was impressed at the twists). This book explores a marriage and how you can never truly know what goes on in one when you are outside looking in. Characters were multifaceted and interesting. Great read and highly recommend!

Must read!!! Never would have guessed the ending. I like to try new authors and was not disappointed with this book.

I read...ALOT. I honestly like and are really fond of many books but this one was on another level for me. When a books knocks me back like this one did it becomes pure greatness in my book. I never saw it coming. Now all my friends are reading it. Cant wait to get my hands on more from the author

This is one of my favorite books of the Fall so far. Thank you for letting me preview. I have been singing it's praises since I finished it last week and have strongly suggested it for my book clubs next book. It's a roller-coaster ride. You think you know who's who and then you turn the page and you're down a rabbit hole, but not lost! I don't want to give away any spoilers, because it's worth reading to figure it out for yourself. I will say, if you loved "Girl on the Train" and "Gone Girl", you will absolutely love this book and it has a much more satisfying ending! Can definitely see it being the next book to Screen!

Although I'm not a big fan of women's fiction, I do enjoy novels of suspense and thrillers. So, I decided to give this book a chance. I'm so glad I did. Once I had the time to really devote to the book, I enjoyed it. Then came the first big twist and I was hooked. I could not put it down! I loved the way it was written. What a great concept. Now that I'm finished, I want to go back and reread the book knowing what's really happening.

Don't get me wrong. It wasn't perfect. I have a few problems with it. But, for the most part they are minor and come at the end of the book. Mainly they deal with the ease the characters had with tracking down people with so little to go on. Maybe I've lived a sheltered life and it is just that easy to find people.

This year there have been some amazing thrillers released – some not so thrilling, others AMAZING! ‘The Wife Between Us” is definitely DOUBLE AMAZING!!

I found it a bit slow until the beginning of Part Two (almost halfway through the book). From that point on, it was a wild ride with twists and loops. Hang on tight! I found that I was reading so quickly to find out what happened next that I sometimes missed key pieces. So I found myself flipping back a chapter or two to re-read portions. Each time I thought I had it figured out another little nugget of information was dropped sending ripples all throughout the storyline. When I reached the end I had to take a while to ponder on what I had just read. I don’t think the full impact hit me until a day or two later. My mind had to run through it and piece together what happened.

I cannot even begin to understand the precision it took for two authors to make this story unfold as it did. They knew exactly how much to reveal – and when to reveal - without giving away too much.

I am deliberately not putting any details into this review. I do not want to give any of it away. I hope anyone reading this will be as exhilarated by the story as I was.

I seem to be on a roll in my reading selections. This is the second time recently I have started and finished a book in a single day. The plot is compelling, twisted and holds the reader's interest until the end. This is a great weekend read. The author does a great job taking taking what appears to be a trite wife-mistress-husband triad and twisting it into something fresh. While the last few pages are a bit too contrived, the book is definitely worth the reader's time.

I had a little difficulty getting through this as it deals with domestic violence and some of the scenes were rough. The twists were brilliant and for over half the book, I thought all of the characters were crazy. The ending really brought the story full circle. Nicely done.
