This book had a LOT of twists! I only thought of one before it was revealed. The others, and there were quite a few, completely surprised me. I found that to be very unique. I usually can see twists coming.
This book begins with Nellie and Vanessa giving their views about Richard. Nellie is excited about getting married to Richard, and Vanessa is in a state, worrying about the woman that replaced her in her marriage to Richard. All is not what it seems!!! Very clever plot twists, very unique story. I enjoyed this book, especially because it surprised me. .

I enjoyed the story. It took me time to invest. I think it's because the character of Vanessa had so many facets to her. It was confusing the way it switched from her past to her present.
But once I understood that there was more to VANESSA, Aka Nellie, than I initially thought it got pretty suspenseful. I would recommend it to those who enjoy a character driven intense plot.

All I can say is wow!! So many twists and turns -- the authors lead us down a path filled with the unexpected. Readers won't be able to put .this one down. It is sure to be a best seller.

The Wife Between Us was not at all what I expected, but everything I hoped it would be. There was suspense, drama, love, and a great amount of surprise. Nellie is leaving her preschool job and getting married to a wonderful man, Richard, who can give her anything. Pathetic Vanessa lives with her elderly Aunt Charlotte and plans to involve herself in Richard and his fiancee's lives. There are many twists and turns, and things are not always what they seem. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The summary says that when you read this book:

1) "You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement." Well, yeah! The ex had made it her mission to save the new bride from Richard (the husband). Why exactly? If that isn't obsession I don't know what it is. If a man leaves you, move on. It is not your job to make the other woman realize what type of man she is going to marry.

2) "You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves." Oh yes, this I thought but turned out I was wrong.

3)"You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her." Never for a minute did I think that.

4)"You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships." After reading Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris I could recognize the symptoms lol!

*** SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS ***

The book is divided in three parts: Part 1 is about a woman who is going to marry Richard (which I thought was the new bride). Part 2 is about who this woman in part 1 really is. Here we also know who Richard's new bride is. And part 3 was a little Gone Girl because out of the blue, obsessive Nillie (or Vanessa) shows a different side of her: how she planned for her husband to divorce her.

So my questions is, if you planned everything Richard could leave you, what the hell was all the crying over Richard for? Why did you have to talk to Richard's new bride to warn her of the manipulative and control freak that Richard is and save her from that marriage? Seriously, you should be over the moon that your plan worked! So I don't really understand this nonsense of having to talk to his new woman to warn her about Richard.... "Satisfaction," she said. AND, because otherwise there wouldn't be a book (I say).

In this book, I liked her cunning and that she turned out to be not as stupid as she seemed at first. I have read a couple of books with the same line: extremely beautiful woman marries successful man who turns out to be a manipulative, obsessive jerk. The woman quits her job, stop talking to her friends, and her life revolves around the husband that plans everything for them (where to eat, what to wear...). But then she gets bored of living in a beautiful house with nothing to do but wait for the husband to get home to have someone to talk to.

Also, this book is very deceiving because I didn't get why she was crying her eyes out and her life was falling apart because Richard left her when she was the one who orchestrated it. So I guess the first part of the book was deceiving like that so when you reached the third part you would be all like "holly crap!" Hmmmm....

Have you ever judged a book by its cover? Be honest. To judge a person--a book--by appearances, by what we think we know--by what we're so sure we know--can be a dangerous thing indeed.

I read The Wife Between Us in three days. In a perfect, perfect world, I would have finished in just one. If I'd ignored eating, sleeping, and other people. (I'm much too fond of all the above these days.) Yet I want to stress that this is a compelling read.

The Wife Between Us is a rare read indeed. Let me explain--or try to explain. To those seeking a thriller, a plot-driven thriller with twists and turns, I can honestly say that The Wife Between Us satisfies. Readers meet a woman--an emotionally distraught woman--and follow her through the darkness, into the darkness, and perhaps out of the darkness too. (Or I could be trying to trick you.) Through this woman's story readers get to know Richard and "the replacement." (One woman is getting replaced by another. One woman has been cast aside. Another has been chosen as the perfect wife.) It's all about the suspense and drama. Who wronged who. Who's telling the truth. Who's lying. Is it a matter of life and death? To those seeking a character-driven novel that is complex and thought-provoking, The Wife Between Us more than satisfies. I can honestly say that to me more than anything it's the CHARACTERS that stand out as unforgettable. It's a rare read because it's both.

I loved the characterization. I loved that the characters lived. I loved the brokenness and vulnerability. I loved the fragility of everything. I loved the writing. There was never a place you "wanted" to stop reading. Because the moment you read the opening sentence of the next chapter, you needed to keep going.

I loved that it would pair so well with many classics I've read and loved in the past. Jane Eyre. Rebecca. To name just two.

I think this could easily be a great movie. But would a movie trailer spoil it all?! Probably.

This is without doubt a tense psychological thriller that makes a impact. It has you wondering if what you were reading was for real, and re-reading to check. It has you questioning what you think you know and where nothing is as it seems. Vanessa Thompson is a divorced woman who is barely managing to keep herself together and her days off from her job at Saks endanger her employment. She exists in a alcoholic haze, the wine bottles in her home attest to this. Vanessa used to be married to the wealthy Richard, a good looking hedge fund manager. The end of her marriage has left her floundering as she wonders about the effects of fertility medication, her failure to be the ideal wife, and haunted by events that happened to her when she was at college.

What pierces Vanessa's alcoholic haze is the shocking news that Richard is planning to remarry. Something she has no intention of letting happen as she embarks on a crusade. She must protect the intended wife, she must not undergo what Vanesssa suffered. However, is Vanessa to be relied upon? And why should another woman believe her? The narrative is delivered from the perspective of the main characters. This is a story with huge twists and a compelling storyline. It dissects the anatomy and complexities of a marriage, the lies, the secrets, the manipulation and the betrayals. Whilst you may have to occasionally suspend your disbelief, this is nevertheless a book that will grab your attention and never let go. Many thanks to St Martins Press for an ARC.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced readers copy of this book from good reads, it was absolutely amazing!
The characters are so amazing and I was so involved with this story that I could not put it down! It kept me guessing through out the whole book! Suspense & Drama from start to finish. AMAZING! It took me so long to get into this book. There was so much (unnecessary in my opinion) info dumping in the first half of the book that literally nothing exciting happens. I found myself wishing it were over so that I could go back to another unfinished ARC that I had. If I didn't know there were going to be twists (meaning if I hadn't read the synopsis), I probably would've DNF'd this book, if I'm completely honest. Although, knowing there were going to be twists, I did find myself speculating what they were going to be every waking hour that I wasn't reading it. And I did enjoy the twists, don't get me wrong. But I think like a quarter of the book (in the beginning) could've been edited out.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen looks SO GOOD. Why isn’t there more time in the day to read? I need a sick day but just to sit around and read and not feel guilty. Here’s the info you need about this one:

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement.
You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves.
You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
Assume nothing.

Basically, we know NOTHING as we start the book. Not one clue about what it’s about. I am hoping it’s as creepy and nail biting as YOU by Caroline Kepnes.

The Wife Between Us is getting great reviews and its probably one of those books where you read in one or two sittings. Can’t wait!

What is Virginia (AKA Nellie) running from? Her lives in Florida, but she's decided after graduation, she's moving on. She needs to move to a place where she can change her identity and be lost. With that in mind, she moves to New York. She meets a young woman, Samantha, and they become inseparable roommates. Nellie teaches pre-k children and loves it! She also has a job working with Sam at Gibson's as a waitress. Things seem to be working out for her in her new life. Then she meets the most handsome, charismatic man, Richard Thompson, and her world is turned totally upside down. Richard courts her for a while and shows her all of the things that she has never experienced. He takes her to operas, teaches her about fine wines and food, and is always surprising her with little getaways and flowers. Now she's engaged to this wonderful Prince Charming. What could possibly go wrong? The get married in Florida, so her mother and aunt can attend the wedding. Richard operates a very successful hedge fund company and travels all the time. Nellie is left alone quite a bit. Seems her whole world revolves totally and completely around Richard and their huge beautiful home. She becomes isolated from her family and friends. She becomes depressed, and there are those horrible phone calls with the breathing on the other end. What is she to do? Her husband is always there to protect her from whatever issues she's having, but something just doesn't seem right. He seems to be working more late hours and sometimes staying at the New York apartment he keeps, while he's in the city. Is Richard having an affair? She has to find out. If so, with whom? How had her marriage fallen apart like it has? Why is Richard so secretive? This book kept me reading into the pre-dawn hours. I didn't want to put it down. If you like psychological thrillers, stalking, intrigue, and who done it, this book is definitely for you. I was shocked so many times throughout this book. It's never as it seems. The plot was magnificent. And the character development was superb and complex. The reader could relate to all of the characters and the emotions that they were experiencing. The ending shocked me as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more from this author!!

Whoa…I can’t even begin to explain the sheer number of emotions I experienced during the course of this book. I was invited to read this book by the publisher, and since reading I have been searching for a book, any book, within this genre that does a better job of throwing me on my head while causing me to feel so much emotion toward the characters, author, writing style, etc. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen make one heck of a writing team!

Part one (of three) was so woven, you seemingly navigate between two women. Then, just before you enter part two you are SHATTERED. Throughout Part two you gain more history, flipping between the past and present day. While part three wraps it all up, albeit NOT NICELY as my emotions are still recovering.

I honestly started getting mad at this book because I thought “I’ve got this figured out I don’t want to even read on, this plot is so predictable,” only to literally get RIPPED apart. I definitely did NOT guess correctly. Even the epilogue left me gasping (and I must reiterate, DO NOT SKIP THE EPILOGUE OMG, did not see that coming!!!). Despite “thinking” I knew what was coming, I was SO WRONG.

This book was such an engrossing read, I know it is cliché but I could not put it down and finished it in record time. One will not be disappointed they picked this book up if they like suspenseful, husband & wife/cat & mouse type books.

It is very rare for me to give a book a 5 star rating. But I'm here to tell you that I am giving it to this one!

The blurb above says it all. Assume nothing. So there is really very little I want to say in this review that would spoil one second of you reading this and being as shocked out of your mind as I was. There is no figuring this one out on page one. I was figuring this one out until the last page.

If Suspense Thrillers/Psychological Thrillers are your genre, you are in for a massive treat with this one. I read it all at once. I just couldn't stop. I certainly hope there will be more from the authors!

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. Wow!!! This book is so great!! So suspenseful and unexpected. Could not put it down!!!

No spoilers here, this book should be enjoyed without much knowledge of what to expect. Exceptional writing from these two authors propels the drama in this book, "The Wife Between Us". I highly recommend it to anyone who likes clever and twisty story lines. Be prepared to learn that what you think you know about Nellie and Vanessa and Richard, the main characters, may not be even minutely close to the truth about them. I loved the build up in the suspense--the authors painstakingly create an original and satisfyingly meaty meal of a book. So many details the writers give you that you don't know what to do with them.. at the same time you can feel the wheels turning in your brain--trying to figure--what the hell is going on here.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I've been fortunate this year, trying new authors and being so pleasantly surprised by some excellent books. When I am reading fiction, if I don't care what happens next and I am unwilling to give up some sleep to find out, well I personally have a problem with the story. Absolutely not the case with this book, I went to bed late and got up early to read as much as I could.
I really thought I had a clear understanding of the main characters and where the story was headed, until the first of many twists and turns. From that point forward, I think every one of my assumptions was wrong and even though I can't help trying to guess what is coming, mostly I laughed at myself when I was incorrect, again and again, and just enjoyed the ride. Many, many layers from the past and present are revealed and each one was so well done that when I reached the last page, I was blown away by the author's story telling abilities.
No spoilers here as the discoveries are integral to the enjoyment of the book. Marriage, friendship, betrayal, jealousy, family ties, loss of self, abuse and the truth versus lies are all explored and come together in unexpected ways. I was reminded of seeing someone in a fun house mirror and thinking I had identified the ‘real person' only to realize it was just another mirror illusion. Just an entertaining story that is easy to recommend.
Thanks to Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is one of those books that I think people will be talking about.

This is a sit down and read it book. At times it was uncomfortable and I had to put it aside, but then I felt compelled to pick it up again and find out what the next twist would be, the next surprise, the next jog in the bend of the plot.

From the first page, you are drawn in to the complex lives of these characters. The soon- to- be ex wife - her replacement, and the ostensibly perfect husband. Vanessa is extricating herself from her wealthy and generous husband. She has a past - but his is more complicated. And then there's the upcoming wife. You will not be able to put this one down. One of the best books I have read all year.
