I have seen mysteries with twists and turns, but this book is more about the twists than the essential story. The author does a great job of engaging the reader during the early part of the book, until the twists begin to appear and appear and appear.

The main character (no names, can't ruin part of the twisted plot) suffers through a marriage to a controlling sociopath and the story revolves around the relationship and the ending of the marriage. It could have been a fine mystery with a single plot, but the effort put into the storyline twists, detracts from the book and overlays it with absurdity.

I was very disappointed.

I really liked this book. It was very interesting how it was written - the 3 parts as well as the POVs. I was continually questioning the characters and the events as to what was really going on. At the end of each part, it was like a bomb was dropped and I couldn't stop reading - I had to dig into the next section. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I almost felt let down at the end. There was a great buildup but not a great finale. However I thought it was still a good book and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys thrillers/psychological thrillers.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC.

I received an ARC from NetGalley to read and review. The below is my honest, unbiased opinion. Thank you, Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen, the publisher, and NetGalley, for allowing me to review.

THE WIFE BETWEEN US is a standalone psychological thriller with a mystery plot; it's told in dual point of view, between Vanessa and Nellie, with an unreliable narrator. Vanessa's marriage has only recently fallen apart, her husband now engaged to his assistant, "my replacement," and she can't seem to let go of the past. In several calculated, daring moves, Vanessa risks everything when she tries to break apart her husband and her replacement.

I cannot even begin to explain how much I loved this book. It is by far the best thriller I've read in 2017 (or ever), and without a doubt, I believe this will be the next thriller-turned-movie we see in Hollywood. The authors did a fantastic job executing the twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. Their writing is smart, captivating, and alluring--three aspects every reader looks for in a good psychological thriller. The main character, Vanessa, displays shudderingly accurate depictions of a woman on the brink of disaster and sabotage.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story!

The Wife Between Us

WOW. What a book. Absolutely gripping. I can see this one soaring to the top of the charts for sure. I was just before half way through it and I literally had to put my kindle down to stare out of window to digest and make sense of what I had just read. Highly recommended !

Piercing eyes locked in.........trying to make sense of what has just transpired.

Like the unsettled feeling of reclaiming your own wine glass in a sea of abandoned stemware left willy nilly on a crowded bar. A second's turn of your back and your identity is gone. Claimed by another or still existing in a look-alike world. Here and then gone........

Vanessa Thompson awakens in the tiny guestroom in her Aunt Charlotte's apartment. Her marriage is over and the aftermath is like shattered glass with the pieces of her remaining life never quite fitting together again. Examining the fragments will only initiate the bleeding once more. A promise of retrieving the hidden wine bottles in her closet at the end of the day gives her the impetus to dress for her retail job at Saks. She also walks a tightrope there with impending dismissal looming because of her constant days off.

Richard had all the fine cut and polish of the successful man on the cover of GQ. His position as a hedge fund manager brought them the finer things in life. What could possibly go wrong with perfection? Vanessa asks herself if her skittish behavior was due to the fertility medications she was taking after constant unsuccessful episodes. Was it the fear of retribution from a horrendous haunting situation that occured in her senior year of college? Or was it simply that wine glass that beckoned to be constantly refilled?

Startling news drifts in Vanessa's direction as the realization comes that Richard is to be remarried soon. One thing that Vanessa knows for sure is that that is not going to happen. Weak in mind, heart, and spirit, Vanessa is determined to get Richard's attention. One way or another.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen present a storyline carved out with mega twists and turns. The eyes tend to deceive in this one. I mean, really deceive. That lipstick smudge on that wine glass may not actually be yours. Then where is yours and where is theirs? Guess you're going to have to crack this one open to see for yourself. Told in three parts, you'll be flipping back pages to knock on reality's door. Did that just happen? Yep, yep it did.......

I received an advanced copy of The Wife Between Us through St. Martin's Press. My thanks to them and to Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen for the opportunity.

The Wife Between us is a pretty-good page-turner with surprise twists like Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. In part, you don't see them coming because they're somewhat unbelievable -- after the first 'gotcha,' but I enjoyed reading it all the same.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of The Wife Between Us, by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. At first I wasn't sure that I liked this book.Nellie divorced from Richard tries to stop his newly engaged girlfriend from marrying him. I couldn't figure out who was who and what was going on, then gradually thing started coming together....or did they? Twists and turns, and I couldn't put the book down. One final zinger at the end I never saw coming! Great read.

Oh. My. Goodness. Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. You are going to be hearing about this one. I guarantee it. If you want a psychological thriller that will literally make you feel like you're on a rollercoaster, this is it. I stopped at a couple of points during the book just to digest what I'd read to make sure I read it right. Pre-order this one right now. You can thank me later.

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! The best psychological thriller I have read all year! I won't make comparisons to other titles but suffice to say this book surpasses them all by far. So many twists and turns, I was drawn in before I realized what was happening. The writing is "exact" , "concise" - the suspense just builds - and the characters are believable, likable even. I won't say more except this is a "must read" and destined, I'm sure to be one of the most talked about releases of 2018.

Absolutely diabolical in its gripping, enthralling twists and turns! Just when your mind relaxes and you feel as though all the plot points are in order, twist! It's as if the authors had a party and shouted, Plot Twist! randomly at each other while writing. A classic page turner chronicling abuse, deceit, and well-orchestrated plots. Readers will love this more than any psychological thriller they've read in quite some time.

Wow. So many assumptions! And most of them are false! Alternating between Vanessa and Nellie, we see a marriage gone wrong and a woman attempting to prevent the newest woman from marrying her ex. But there are many secrets to be unlocked and a past to be uncovered. What are the real motives and who is at fault? This is a roller-coaster ride of thrills and you will be surprised at the end as well! Great thriller!

This book was intriguing kept you guessing but was a big slow. I felt there wasn't enough drama and thrills for my taste with that being said I liked the book but didn't love it. I like a great thriller and this just wasn't it . If you want something intriguing but wasn't a up all night thriller then this book is for you.

Insert the salsa dancer emoji because 1. I really enjoyed this book and 2. I didn't see the twist(s) coming!

I liked how Vanessa's POV was first person and Nellie's was third person. Vanessa seemed like an unreliable narrator at times so she definitely need first person POV to connect with the reader. I tend to enjoy unreliable narrators because it helps keep me interested in whether or not the other characters and events are as they seem.

I alluded to it above, but there is one major twist and then several more twists, none of which I guessed at. I can't really discuss the plot much further in this review because there are so many fun surprises. I kept voraciously swiping the pages on my kindle app and finished this book quickly. This is definitely a great addition to the thriller genre and I look forward to hopefully more from the authors!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC!

Intense psychological tale. To manipulate or to be manipulated! All facets of our past mold who we are and how we relate to those close to us. Not sure how to review this one without giving key elements away that could ruin the prose. Richard has an ideal of the perfect wife. Shadows of his past have instilled in him a manipulation and violence that like a spoiled child come to the surface when he does not get his way. Vanessa is his second and ex-wife. Her turmoil and struggle with clouded emotions is the driving force of this work by Greer Hendricks. The truth is hidden but is revealed in a surprise ending. Although the merit of this story was driving it just was not plot driven enough for me. "A copy of this book was provided by St. Martin's Press via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and my comments here are my honest opinion."

I'd like to thank Netgalley, St. Martin's Press and the authors of this fantastic novel for sending me the book for my honest review!

Okay, first, holy crud. This novel blew me away. Just when I thought I had everything figured out and I thought I knew what was going to happen, everything changed on me! I'm not going to state a summery because no matter what I put, I feel it'd be revealing too much.
This is absolutely a novel you want to go into knowing nothing about it.

That being said, let's talk about the novel.
The plot of the novel was executed well and was well rounded. Everything was concise and made sense in the end. There was really no loose ends that needed tying up and everything seemed resolved. I thoroughly enjoyed this hurricane of a plot!

The main characters in this novel were three dimensional for the most part and each had a distinctive voice and personality. However, the side characters didn't get much in terms of distinct voices or personality, especially when it came to friends of the main character(s). But considering the focus of plot, it was easy to see why they made them that way.

The writing of this novel threw me at first. It seemed to jump tenses and viewpoints and also seemed to skip from the past to the present without any indication. So when I first started reading, it took me a couple chapters to get the hang of especially the skipping back and forth between past and present. But after I got accustomed to it, it sort of brought out a uniqueness that I came to love about it. As the plot and characters began revealing themselves, I began to understand all the writing choices they made and I really came to appreciate the style of it.

This novel was incredible and I can't wait until it gets released so I can buy a physical copy! Anyone a fan of psychological novels, definitely pick this one up!

The Wife Between Us surprised me. To be honest, I thought it would be yet another book about a jilted wife, yet it was so much more. The suspenseful plot builds right up to the last page, with wonderful twists and turns. I highly recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I must start off by saying that I am very stingy when it comes to giving books 5 stars, but this one REALLY deserved it.

This is one of the best books that I have read this year. I actually don't quite know how to write this review without giving anything away. It was initially a slow-burner but picked up pace afterward. Lol, it REALLY picked up and so many times I actually had to go back and read something as I could not believe what had happened and I was utterly shocked. It had me enthralled from the first page and I read it within a day. I could not wait to see what happened next.

My advice is, go in blind, do not read too many reviews. I've had too many books spoilt by reviews that gave away too much. You will totally be entertained. Oh yes, free your schedule because you will not be able to put it down!

Congratulations to the authors and the Publishers, this is a WINNER!
