It helps you set it up, but also build it up if you already have a store. It helps you understand what etsy can be and how you can be part of its success.

Sold how-to book if you want to start your own Etsy online shop! Great resource if you make your own items and crafts and want to find an online platform besides Ebay or Amazon to sell them. Lots of info and tips from set-up to marketing. This book even talks about business plans, branding, Tax ID's, price points, your target audience and much, much, more! If you are serious about starting your own Etsy shop, or maybe you started one but need some help, then this is a must have guide for you! I definitely recommend this book in print.

Gives some really good tips on what to do and expect when opening an etsy business.

Calling all artists, crafters, artisans, and other creative people. Want to be able to sell your work beyond your local venues? Etsy is the number one place to start. Much of the information you need is on the Etsy website in their help menus. But sometimes it is hard work to plough through it all. If you want a more detailed, user-friendly approach, with step-by-step instructions and screenshots, then Start Your Own Etsy Business is the book for you.

The first chapter describes what Etsy has to offer. Find what you get as a seller, how to prepare to run your own business, and more. You get a comprehensive overview of what Etsy is, and what it can do for you. With Chapter 2 you get more information about your responsibilities as a small business operator. Even though you may not be making enough money to live on, you are now running a small business. So that comes with responsibilities.

With “Calculating Your Costs And Setting Your Prices” all the information that you need to define your audience, choose the right materials and supplies, and how to figure out the best price for your items, is broken down. Throughout the book, they also give actual real-world examples of other Etsy proprietors, which can be very helpful.

The next section helps you establish yourself as an Etsy seller. It walks you through setting up your shop the right way. You’ll need to create your product listings and photograph them after your shop is set up. This section gives you all the details you need about variations right down to the shipping information. It even provides excellent information on how to make professional quality photographs, which anyone with who has viewed Instagram postings can see isn’t as easy as point-and-click.

“If you build it they will come” was a line from a famous movie, but that is not always the case with a business. Promotion and marketing are key. This section covers gaining new buyers as well as generating repeat business from your existing customer base. Using social media is also a key and is covered in depth over several pages.

“Customer Service” is covered in Chapter 7, it cannot be stressed enough how important it is to provide excellent customer service. There are several excellent points included on ways to handle your customer service and strategies for providing top-notch service as well.

An Invaluable Resource

Once you’ve been established, you want to grow, and there are several ideas suggested to assist in that goal. At the end of the book is a list of the Etsy business resources and their website addresses. An invaluable resource.

In all, if you are thinking about creating an Etsy business, then this is an excellent resource and well worth the read.

This thorough explanation of Etsy convinced me to open an account in anticipation of Christmas sales.

For a beginner, the entire concept of Etsy is explained. Everything from how to open an account, choose a store name, set up record keeping, etc. for the proper legal procedures of running a business of your own.

Several artisans are examined detailing their experiences and what mistakes to avoid right from the start.

This book allows you to build a proper foundation for your crafting/artisan outlet.

Inside, you'll be able to find everything from how to open your Etsy business, to marketing, to stories of successful Etsy business owners.

Opening an Etsy shop can be stressful, I know from experience, but this book has many incredible tips that I've begun incorporating into my own shop. I would recommend this to those who are thinking of opening an Etsy or any other kind of online store.

I was not impressed with this book I am sorry to say. I am in the process of starting up an Etsy shop so thought this would be a great tool . However I never finished it. I found it to repeat itself over and over. I would read a bit more and it was the same thing I just read, I found it to repeat itself over and over. Yep it repeated itself over and over. See it gets a bit overbearing. I understand a how to guide has to be simple, however if you are planning on starting an online business, or any business for that matter and it has to be explained the difference between a buyer and a seller. I am thinking you should be going in business. This is just my opinion others may find this a very useful source. For me I was just not getting the info I was looking for.

Etsy advice worth tons of research, product knowledge, and time!! Includes great ideas on how to promote, plan and do a good, profitable business on Easy. Easy to follow plans. Solid business advice.

"Start Your Own Etsy Business" is a book about starting your own small business and effectively selling your crafts on Etsy. The book started with an overview of Etsy and starting your own small business. Then the author went into more detail about what's involved in setting up a small business, from business plans and tax IDs to inventory management and accounting. He talked about determining what you need to get set up, your costs and prices, your target audience, and branding.

He then described step-by-step how to open an Etsy account, set up your store, and add product listings. He also discussed fees, setting prices and shipping costs, taking (or hiring) professional photographs of your products, choosing and including search words, writing effective text to describe your product, and more. He also discussed promotion and marketing using paid advertising and social media.

He included advice from successful Etsy sellers, including specific things they did that increased their sells. I found this advice both interesting and helpful. The author included plenty of links to online help pages and included some sample worksheets. While this book will help anyone who wants to set up an Etsy account, it's targeted at those who want to create a profitable business from their crafting. Overall, I'd recommend this book.

I would highly recommend this resourceful book. Although in reading this book I realized that I'm not quite ready to start my own business. I think if your truly interested in starting your own business then this book would be a valuable resource.
