Enjoyable mystery but felt more dark thank cozy. I did appreciate the theme. Not a standout in the space though.

This is the third book in the A Greenhouse Mystery series by Wendy Tyson.

This is another one of those series that first pulled me into the cozy genre. I really enjoyed this garden mystery with all its revenge and angst.

In the town of Windsome, things aren’t always what they seem as our main character has learned. Megan Sawyer, is trying to make her greenhouse into a year round endeavor. When she comes back from a trip to Philly, she rescues a stranded motorist and thus gets pulled into the lives of Becca and Luke Fox. There is just something a little bit off about Becca and Luke but Megan can’t put her finger on why.

Becca has started a perfume business that features products made with pheromones. Becca and look look like a happy family on the surface but everything is far from okay. Megan’s friend Merry invited Becca to town in order to reunite her with her estranged father. Then the father, Paul Fox ends up dead. This Paul fellow was quite the rascal and up to no good for most of his life.

Then a surprising connection is discovered between the murder and Megan’s aunt, Sarah, who is a mystery author. She ends up on the suspect list too along with practically every one else in town. As you can tell, this is not a mystery easily solved. So much going on here. I just loved it. It felt so good to get back to the older series that called out to me back in the beginning of my cozy journey.

Good to see Denver/Daniel back in the saddle and the connection between him and Megan is just what makes life tick for me. Wish I had something like that in my own life. The loving connection between them sort of balances the not so nice aspects of the murder and dead bodies that keep cropping up. And then her friendship with Bobby King, police chief, made me smile every time he came on stage. Loving the whole recurring cast here. So friendly and homey. This series is a sure keeper. Going to finish reading the books I have not gotten to and hope to read on Wendy’s other series, the Allison Campbell mysteries when I finish with that.

If you love a good cozy mystery, you have to check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Seeds of Revenge is the third book in the Greenhouse Mystery series by Wendy Tyson. I have not yet read the previous books in this series, and plan to do so as I enjoyed this story. I had no issues following this story even though I have not yet read the previous books in the series. This story occurs during Christmas in Winsome, PA. I found this story to have plenty to keep my interest.

Protagonist and organic farmer, Megan Sawyer sees a woman stranded during a winter storm and offers her a ride to town. The woman is Becca Fox, who is coming to Winsome to spend the upcoming Christmas holiday with her Aunt Merry. When Megan drops Becca off at her aunt's, she witnesses an angry confrontation between Becca and her estranged father, Paul. A few days later, Paul is dead, and Becca quickly becomes the number one suspect. Megan thinks there is more to his death and begings to poke around. When she finds out that the murder imitates one in her Aunt Sarah's books, she starts to dig a bit deeper.

I enjoy this series because of its complexity. The mystery is a bit edgier than what I am used to in a cozy and there is some profanity in this book. Things that appear to have nothing to do with the situation, come into clearer focus as we reach the climax. The story is well-plotted and well-paced. The characters are well-developed and likeable. Megan is a great protagonist. She is smart, kind, tenacious and loyal. She loves her family and her new life farming. Her romantic interest, Scottish Vet Denver is helpful and sexy. I like that the police chief trusts Megan's insights, and he's no bumbling idiot. He actually investigates and finds answers. The character of Becca was fun. She is the "Love Chemist" who creates potions using natural ingredients and adding pheromones for love. There were a lot of suspects and twists that had me guessing right to the end. Overall, this is a well-written cozy with secrets, multiple murders, some humour, family connections and a great mystery. I recommend this one to anyone who enjoys a cozy mystery with a bit of an edge.

Megan Sawyer has a busy holiday season. In between caroling events and decorating her cafe for Christmas, she is also trying to sell her hothouse greens to chefs in Philadelphia to help her farm earn some extra money in the winter. On her way back to her small town of Winsome, she picked up Becca Fox, who tried to make the drive without snow tires. Megan was happy to help, and took Becca all the way to her aunt Merry's house in Winsome.

What Becca doesn't know is that her aunt decided to try to repair Becca's family, which had fallen apart after her mother died. Merry has invited her brother Paul Fox--Becca's father--as well as Becca's brother Luke, to give them all an opportunity to reconcile. But while Becca is happy to see Luke, she'll have nothing to do with her father, going so far as to say that she believes her father had killed her mother.

Megan is a compassionate person who understands family drama, and she tries to talk to Becca about her father. Becca insists that she won't have anything to do with the man. But when he dies in his sleep, the local police can't help but look at her and question her about her animosity.

And then things get a little too close to home for Megan. Her great aunt Sarah knew Paul when he lived in Winsome many years ago, and now his death is frighteningly similar to a plot line in one of her first mystery novels. Megan will have to think fast to keep her great aunt safe and out of trouble.

Seeds of Revenge is the third novel in Wendy Tyson's Greenhouse Mystery series, and although it's the first one I've read, I'm going to have to go back and read from the beginning. Tyson's background in law and psychology shine through in the characters and the plot, and her writing is compelling. Seeds of Revenge is an appealing cozy for any time when you're needing a bit of Christmas, some family dysfunction, revenge (obviously), and a couple of adorable goats.

Galleys for Seeds of Revenge were provided by Henery Press through NetGalley, with many thanks.

Wendy Tyson serves up the best cozy mysteries in the business. Love the characters, love the series.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Megan Sawyer, is a lawyer turned farmer, out trying to sell her organic goods to chefs. Heading home in a snowstorm, she encounters a young woman stranded. Megan rescues Becca Fox, and safely takes her to Becca's aunts' home. Becca sells love potions. There, Megan encounters an uncomfortable situation between Becca and her father, Paul Fox. Becca appears to be quite livid at seeing her father.

Things take a nasty turn, when Paul is found dead in the house he has rented. Megan learns that Becca has made allegations that her father is responsible for her mother's death. Things start happening to others in town, that are strongly tied to Megan's aunts' novels. When Megan is attacked, it becomes personal. When Becca is arrested, Megan goes on a quest for answers to her own questions.

Great cozy read!

You can almost feel the snowflakes on your eyelashes and will swear that you can smell the scent of pine. Another well written cozy set in Winsome, PA. The protagonist Megan Sawyer, struggling to make a go of her organic farm, is relatable and realistic. The story and the characters draw the reader in and keep you hooked until the end.

When I read the first book in the Greenhouse Mysteries, A MUDDIED MURDER, I was amazed at how quickly I was hooked. And, again with the second installment, BITER HARVEST. Author Wendy Tyson pulled me in with her easy writing style. You know the kind? Every word she writes belongs in the story. She doesn’t “over” describe things or add a bunch of words just to stretch out her word count. Her stories flow across the pages inviting you to drift with them.

With that said, while I loved the plot of SEEDS OF REVENGE, author Tyson went edgier with this book. Her same wonderful writing is there. Her characters are still just as enjoyable, and I still have a wicked crush on the devilish Denver. But parts of this book didn’t read “cozy” to me. There is also the use of profanity which I think has no place in a cozy mystery. D*mn and h*ll have been showing up more and more in this genre, and while they make me cringe, I manage to overlook them (mostly). But the use of b***h and b*****d just don’t belong. This was a good, strong story, and didn’t need the addition of profanity to make it better. Now, if this doesn’t bother you, I highly recommend you read this book. You will be in for a good read.

I enjoyed visiting Winsome at the holiday time. Megan is still working hard to make a go of her farm year round, and stopping by restaurants to let them try her winter greens are a way to drum up off season business. On the way back, she picks up a stranded motorist, Becca Fox. I thought she was a very interesting character, what with her Chemistry background and work with pheromones.. Becca is not happy at the machinations of her aunt, to orchestrate a reunion with her estranged father. When Megan's own aunt is peripherally involved in the death of Paul Fox, Megan steps up to ferret out the killer.

What is a love chemist? Find out in the third installment of the Greenhouse mystery series. The protagonist, Megan Sawyer picks up a stranded motorist. This motorist’s estranged father is murdered. Megan needs to clear her aunt.
What a great story. Well written, good characters, and twists. You can pick this up without reading the others. That’s what I did. Thanks to Netgalley, Henery Press, and the author for an opportunity to read this book.

This is the third book in the Greenhouse Mystery series. Each book is delightful and charming.
Megan Sawyer is returning to Winsome, Pennsylvania, one night in the middle of a storm when she picks up a young woman who is visiting her family in town. Soon after the young woman's father is murdered and Megan finds it suspicious . She begins to investigate and the clues abound in this well crafted sleuth that kept me on the edge of my chair.
I love the author's writing style and the excellent characters that add to the story. Megan is smart, independent and a great protagonist. I look forward to the next in series with anticipation. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC which did not influence my review.

It's good to know that another review believes that if you like this installment you'll like the others! I like this one just fine. Great story line that kept me guessing as to "who done it". Our heroine Megan has seen her share of life's unfortunate dealings and has opted for the quiet life as a small farmer and store owner. She lives with her Grandmother Bibi, who is as cool as her nickname; and has a burly Scot to make her feel loved. The last thing she needs is to become embroiled in a murder. The victim will not be missed but his daughter can't possibly be to blame, or can she? It's up to Megan to get to the bottom of things and help the Sheriff who is short on help and sleep doesn't mind the assist. Which I must say is a pleasant surprise for a cozy.

Seeds of Revenge is the third book in the Greenhouse Mystery series by Wendy Tyson, and after reading the first few pages, I found myself wondering "why haven't I read these books before?" The Christmas season in Winsome, Pennsylvania is wonderfully captured, and I found myself wanting to sit down and share hot chocolates with Megan, her Grandmother Bibi, and their friends. However, things are not all merry and bright in Winsome when former resident Paul Fox returns to town under suspicious circumstances and ends up dead a few days later. Even though he was not a nice man and had no shortage of enemies, there is someone willing to do almost anything to keep the killer from being caught, and the book keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing right until the very end.

I loved reading about Megan's organic produce farm and her friends who have helped her to make a success out of it. I felt like I was a part of the story and had a hard time putting it down. Although this is the not the first book in the Greenhouse Mystery series, it can certainly stand alone and doesn't leave the reader confused or have any spoilers about the earlier books. I can't wait to read this series from the beginning and to visit Winsome again.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Megan Sawyer stops to help a stranger stranded on the road during a December snowstorm. Merry Chance’s niece Becca Fox is visiting Winsome to sell her “love potions” at holiday events. Merry's plan to reunite Becca with her estranged father Paul goes awry. Then Paul turns up dead from phosgene poisoning and Becca becomes police chief Bobby King'a prime suspect. Then Megan is attacked near her car and Paul's former employer is attacked. When Sarah Birch, Megan's mystery author aunt, is implicated in these crimes by her novels, things become personal. Many people hated Paul and Megan goes through his sordid past to find the real killer.

This was another enjoyable and strong entry in the Greenhouse Mystery series.

I received an eARC via Netgalley and Henery Press with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.

Princess Fuzzypants here:
When Megan picks up a stranded motorist on a snowy road, she picks up a whole load of unexpected trouble. Becca is the niece of Merry but the baggage that she and her family bring Winsome results in murders and intrigue and some pretty nasty stuff. Ironically, Becca is starting a business called The Love Chemist because there is very little love between Becca and her father.
When he is murdered, Becca is the most likely suspect partly because of her unstable nature, her chemical skill and her hatred for her father. Megan is convinced that it is not all that simple and as the story unfolds, Becca is not the only one whom her father has harmed. He is a thoroughly reprehensible man whose legacy is one of pain and tragedy.
I confess that I twigged to the ultimate villain very early, mainly because there were some good clues. It is always fun when the reader thinks he or she knows whodunit to see if it works out that way. Sometimes I am right and sometimes I am wrong so it never bothers me.
Megan is a fascinating character with a lot of layers in both her professional and personal backstory. I like the way she is drawn into the mystery so that It makes sense that she is invested.
I enjoyed the book and look forward to future adventures. I give it four purrs and two paws up.

It's almost Christmas in Winsome, PA and Megan Sawyer is on her way back from attempting to get some Philadelphia chefs to buy her fresh greenhouse greens. On the way home during a snowstorm, she meets a young woman on the road who is coincidentally headed back to Winsome as well so she gives her a ride. It turns out the girl, Becca, is Merry's niece and Merry was hoping to reunite Becca with her father, Paul but when Becca found out, she wanted no part of that, in fact she's convinced that her father killed her mother. When Paul turns up dead after Megan sees her arguing with her own Aunt Sarah, she's wondering how her aunt even knew Paul Fox. With other people having motives for killing him as well, Megan knows this won't be an easy case to solve.

The plot was really intense in places and complex but once the mystery was well under way, I couldn't stop reading. I just had to find out the answers. It seemed like one thing happened then another and it turns out someone was using parts of Aunt Sarah's books to cause trouble in town. Since Billy King, police chief, knew and trusted Megan, I liked that he respected her opinion on various aspects of the case. I haven't read the other two books so I'm not sure if their relationship was always this amicable with the first two cases.

Just when I started to suspect someone (turns out I was right!) the author very cleverly led the reader down another path with more possibilities. But the reasons and explanations were definitely things that I could never have thought of. The regular characters were all very likable so I would like to read the first two books sometime when I get a chance.
