this is a wonderful story of second chances and Matt and Larissa have a rough road - but that makes it feel so much more real to me! Loved it!

Larissa Martine's life hasn't worked out quite as she expected. She left Cheyenne years ago to fulfill a promise to her mother, breaking things off with her boyfriend with just a text. After she and her friends listen to a self-help guru, they decide that they need to make amends in order to move on with life. Larissa stops in Cheyenne to apologize for the way she broke things off and then she can head to Las Vegas to reboot her career as a dancer. It should be quick and easy, right?
Matt Briggs had bought a ranch and was ready to settle down when he received the text that changed his life. With the unexpected passing of his father, Matt has more responsibilities than he can handle between taking care of his family and two ranches. The last thing he needs is the girl that broke his heart coming back to town trying to make herself feel better. When his family works to keep Larissa in town for another week...to be his date for for his sister's wedding, no less, these two have no choice but to spend time together. As they spend time together, Larissa has to figure what her dream really is and whether she belongs in Cheyenne.
I enjoyed this story and these characters. Both have had a tough time and things haven't worked out quite as expected. They have taken some emotional hits and have to learn to trust themselves and each other to find the future they deserve.
This was a sweet second-chance romance with main characters and secondary characters that worked well together and propelled the story line with ease. The writing is fun, and I found myself rooting for Matt and Larissa to figure things out. Though it is part of a series, the story can easily be read as a stand alone.

Larissa Martine is starting over in Las Vegas after a failed career in New York. Along the way, she’s promised her friends she would stop by her hometown in Cheyenne, WY and make peace with her ex, Matt Briggs, whom she left without an explanation.
This book started out good but once the interactions between Larissa and Matt began, very quickly they were bypassing the whole crux of her leaving. This happens a lot with second chance romances and it’s a big irritation of mine with this genre.

was not a bad read. just so, so. I did finish, but I didn't feel the connection between the characters.

Eight years ago Larissa made a decision. One that haunted her ever since for without closure on her past she cannot move forward to a questionable future as she’d planned. In order to honor a mother’s dying request she’d had to break a young man’s heart, and her own as well. Now she’s coming home to find the closure she desperately needs. What she didn’t expect was that home truly is where the heart is… and her heart belongs right here with Matt.

One text message was all it took to destroy Matt’s dreams. Now the sender of that message is back in town. He needs Larissa here with him, the past is just that, behind them. One night, one week and maybe a life time is on the line. He needs the love of his life back beside him and even if he’s stretched as thin as a person can get with responsibilities… he’s gong to get back the one person he needs to make all the rest worthwhile.

There’s something about second chance romances that always draw me in. The risk of going back and trying to make a wrong turn out right is probably a risk that nine out of ten people would take. Second Chance Cowboy gives Larissa and Matt a do-over moment. Maybe a bit older, a bit wiser, and a lot more in love this time around will bring them the happy ending they missed out on their first time together. I liked this couple, they’re realistic and simply horrible at really talking to each other. What might have been long ago is a decision that Larissa now deeply regrets. She made the wrong choice for the wrong person. Now she has the chance to exchange one dream for another but she and Matt have to really talk to each other before their happy ending can become a reality.

Looking for a great second chance romance to get caught up in? Then Second Chance Cowboy is the book for you. I’d recommend this story or the entire series to any Romance reader.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Second Chance Cowboy is a sweet, sexy, second chance romance. Larissa has always regretted leaving Matt with just a text as a breakup. Now, years later she and some friends have made a pact to resolve their pasts, make up some wrongs, so she's off to Cheyenne to tell Matt just how much she regrets leaving him the way she did.

When she gets back to town, Matt's sister is about to get married and she insists Rissa stay for the wedding. Matt's all for it, too, because it means he'll get another chance with the woman he's always loved. Now, if only he can get his words out and tell her that, get over the hurt he still has over how she left him without a second glance. As they fall into a casual but sexy affair, both know it comes with an expiration date. But, can Matt convince her to stay? Convince her that she can have her dream of dancing and have him, too? Can Larissa tell Matt just how much she loves him, too? Will she realize that just maybe the passion her mom always pushed her to chase isn't dancing on Broadway, but dancing locally in Cheyenne and enjoying a life on Matt's ranch, too? Since neither Matt nor Larissa is good with words, neither is good with communicating how their hearts feel, it was looking bleak for awhile there. Thank God for a push from Matt's grandma and Matt's sister, because these two make a great couple!

If you like your cowboys sexy with sweet, tender hearts, Second Chance Cowboy is just the story for you. I recommend you 1-click now.

4 stars- Love a second chance romance and this one is done well. We have a dancer who left a man she was in love with... it caused him pain. Now these two are back in the same town... She is 8 years older and sees how she hurt this man needlessly. She wishes to make amends. He doesn't know how he feels about all of this and unfortunately is going to be around her longer than just a conversation...
These two have a chance to reconnect and be the couple they should have been all along.

Second Chance Cowboy (Road to Romance Book 2) by Joanne Rock
This is Larissa Martine and rancher Matt Briggs' story.

Larissa and Matt go way back. She is back to make amends for the way she broke it off with Matt then she will be on her way. Larissa's plans end up changing so that she can help with Matt's sister's wedding. Will Larissa and Matt be able to overcome the hurts and secrets from the past? One thing for sure is that the chemistry between them is still going strong. I enjoyed Larissa and Matt's characters. The supporting characters were enjoyable too. A fun read!

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I am a fan of second chance romances so I loved this book! Larissa and Matt had a relationship when she left town and then texted him a "dear john" text. Eight years later, Larissa wants to resolve her past and goes back home on a side trip on her way to an audition in Vegas.

Their story was enjoyable to read and I loved them together! The only thing that annoyed me was that Larissa didn't seem to have her own goals and instead was focused on living her mother's dream. I could understand taking time to leave and see New York but to devote 8 years and end a relationship with a man that you love!?

It was fun to watch as Larissa finally(!) started thinking about what she wanted and not living her mother's dream. Matt was pretty forgiving, I am not sure that I would be open to renewing an old relationship and especially when he finds out a secret that she kept from him.

This was an enjoyable read and kept me engaged throughout the whole story!

I truly enjoyed Second Chance Cowboy by Joanne Rock, the second book in the Road to Romance series. Larissa Martine left Matt Briggs by telling him in a text. Although she reached her goal to dance on Broadway, fulfilling her mom’s death request, she felt the pull to apologize and explain things to Matt. On her drive to Las Vegas to restart her dancing career, she takes a detour to Cheyenne, Montana to make amends with Matt. Matt is shocked when he sees Larissa again, and even more unsure when he learns the reasons she left eight years ago. The chemistry and attraction these two had is still there. These two dance around, yes pun intended, whether to give up on their dreams or take a second chance on the love they still share.

I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Rock drew me in and did not let go until I read the last page. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I really had trouble getting into the book initially and getting caught up in the emotions of the characters. The storyline was good, but it just didn’t stand out in my mind amongst other books in the genre. The blurb was great, but overall the book just fell flat for me.

A great second chance at romance story! It's fun, sweet and heartwarming read. I was hooked from the beginning. It's well written with characters you will love. The chemistry between the characters is sizzling. Follow the journey of the characters as they get past obstacles to their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Cheyenne, Wyoming is as far from the klieg lights of Broadway as it is to the moon. Yet, reading Joanne Rock's "Second Chance Cowboy" made me think of "A Chorus Line" which ran on Broadway from 1975-1990, making it the 6th longest running Broadway musical.

Corollary to that, I also thought of the song "What I Did For Love," the most popular song from the show as the theme song of the story. It could be for the heroine Larissa Martine alone. We can even take it further and include Matt Briggs and Larissa's love story as another interpretation of "what they did for love."

Foregoing her young love to pursue her dreams to be a dancer, Larissa went back to Cheyenne to make peace with her past on her way to the start of a new career in Las Vegas after a long successful run in New York.

Ready to ask forgiveness then move on, Larissa found out that though years had passed, her feelings for her childhood sweetheart Matt Briggs was still there and it flared up brightly when she saw him. At a crossroads, Larissa is now faced with the flipside of "what she will do for love."

A very sweet read, "Second Chance Cowboy" makes you smile and believe in the old saying "when God closes a door, He opens a window." Larissa is not your typical western style heroine. She is not even your typical metro girl heroine, but a heroine she is in the sense that she had done and will do everything for love.

"Second Chance Cowboy" is Rated T for Teens.

Second Chance Cowboy is the second story in the Road to Romance series but works beautifully as a stand-alone title. Heroine Larissa Martine has decided to make peace with her past by stopping in to visit her former boyfriend Matt Briggs in Cheyenne Wyoming as she travels from New York to Las Vegas for an audition. It's eight years since she dumped him via a text message and she wants to explain why she left.
This is a lovely, light western romance with characters I quickly came to like. The secondary characters are particularly appealing, especially Matts grandmother Hattie. Joanne Rock also sang to me through her description of the gorgeous Wyoming countryside and the lovely country homes.
I enjoy Joanne Rock's style and really enjoyed this story. I'm looking forward to Book three.

Love second chance romances and this is no exception. Young lovers Matt and Larissa thought they had it all except, Matt was a country boy to heart and Larissa wanted to live out her dream as a dancer. She left a cold hearted text message to end their relationship but with a secret. Now she has returned to Wyoming to make amends on the way she handled the breakup. Not expecting to be caught up in the wedding mayhem of Matt's younger sister, she stays to help out. Larissa soon finds out maybe this is the place to call home but will Matt see the same as she does.

Loved this book, great characters of reconnecting and opening their hearts to each other. I highly recommend this book.

Larissa is ready for a change, but before she can move to Las Vegas, she must make amends with Matt as part of a pact that she made with her best friends. I loved the idea of this book. There are many things in life that we wish we could have a do-over with and this is Larissa's chance. I also liked the connection Larissa had with not just Matt, but his family. His sister had me laughing out loud at times. Great read and I look forward to reading what happens with Larissa's friends as they make amends with people from their past.

This is a delightful second chance contemporary romance set in beautiful Cheyenne. Larissa Martine promised her dying Mum that she’d try to make her dreams of being a Broadway dancer come true. Following her mother’s death and her father selling the family ranch, Martine left her first love, Matt Briggs, behind with only a text before trying to do as she’d promised her Mum. Now, eight years later, she’s heading to Las Vegas for auditions but stops en route to try to explain to Matt why she really left . . . .

Since she left so unexpectedly Matt's father has died, so Matt has been trying to run both his own ranch and the family one. He’s never forgotten Larissa and, when she returns, wants her to stay long enough to attend his sister’s wedding. Reconnecting with all the members of the Briggs family and the community to which she used to belong makes Larissa re-evaluate her life choices and future options but is she too late? The attraction between the two is as magnetic as ever but communications for the two are still difficult. Will they repeat the mistakes from the past or learn from them?

This is a moving, sometimes steamy, second chance romance packed with emotional turmoil and dilemmas. Their road to reconciliation is fraught because both shy away from really expressing to each other just how they are feeling because they fear the consequences of rejection. It is about re-thinking the past, motivations and decisions to help move on to a happier future. She may have come to Cheyenne to put Matt and her original life into the past but maybe they should be her future, too?

I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Second Chance Cowboy by Joanne Rock is a heartwarming second chance romance but the cowboy involved is first rate all the way. The story-line is deeper than the synopsis implies with real likable characters. I found the story interesting, thinking this is exactly how hearts are broken and mended by the normal tragedies of life and death.

The struggles of today’s individual ranchers are as much of this story as the romance is. It shows the strains that that the struggles to keep the ranch going put on family and love. In addition, the influence of a parent on a child especially in regard with their dreams come through so clearly. I was never sure if being a Broadway dancer was actually Larissa’s dream. She loved the sheep farm in Wyoming just as much, it seemed to me.

The supporting characters especially the “fierce” Briggs women were a hoot! While it is not a dramatic story, I enjoyed the laid-back approach to the progressive of events in the plot, along with the overall writing of it.

Eight years ago, Larissa Martine left Wyoming to follow her dream of becoming a dancer on Broadway. She broke up with her boyfriend, Matt Briggs, by just leaving a note. Matt never got over the way Larissa left.

When Larissa’s dreams came to a crashing halt after an injury left her sidelined, she decided to try Las Vegas. But before she could go to Las Vegas, she needed to fulfill a promise she made with her friends. She needed to make a detour to Cheyenne and make amends with Matt for how she left him.

Larissa may only be staying longer than she planned because Matt’s sister is getting married, but Matt doesn’t plan on letting her get away so easily this time. Will Matt’s plan along with the help of his sister and grandmother be enough to change Larissa’s mind about leaving again?

The chemistry between Larissa and Matt was off the charts. The story was easy to visualize from the descriptions and moved along at a good pace. The secondary characters really added to this story too. This is the second in the Road to Romance series, but can definitely be read on its own.
