Thomas Jefferson Carver has Hollywood film star looks and the charisma to charm the pants off almost any woman that he desires. He also has a wife that is power obsessed and will let nothing get in her way or stop them getting into the Whitehouse, with herself being First Lady and her husband of course President of the United States.
When the campaign is in full swing an accidental over dose of a young woman in Carver’s bed threatens to end the dream and turn it into a political nightmare. The thought of this being a young woman who has lost her life is the last thing on Darla Bunton Carver’s mind, her only thought is to get this body removed from her husband’s bed and shift blame onto an innocent young man who has been talked into being the fall guy.
From the first meeting with Darla she left such a bitter taste and what begins as a cover up rapidly evolves into so much more, especially after Thomas Carver is successful and elected as President. The loose ends of the past have to be tied off permanently. I was totally engrossed in this story, the corruption, blackmail, murder and almost cult like following that surrounded the President and his First Lady, with those closest to the pair carrying out orders without question.
Darla has a much bigger goal, this First Lady wants to become the first female President of the US. Just when you think that this woman has surely done her worst she manages to go a step further.
This was a totally gripping read for me on a subject that I knew little about. Part of the story does surround a court case of yet another fall guy of the Carver dynasty. One of my favourite characters of this story has to be Lawyer Marc Kadella. What a guy! It wasn’t until after I had read this story that I discovered that a series is based round him, this book being one of them. The story reads superb as a stand alone novel but I sure do want to read more about him.
The story began as intriguing political story and ended up as a fast paced thriller, just loved it!

In my opinion, Political Justice is a mess. It seems to be a roman a' clef about the Clintons. First we have the husband as president. He's a real womanizer and very greedy. Like the Clintons, they have a charitable trust that seems to be a cover for political donations for personal use. Then there's Darla, the ambitious wife who wants to be president after her husband. But she has to yield as it is determined that a black man should get to be president. She waits her turn. All the while people who cross them are found dead.. It all goes on and on as the novel starts out with a court case in Minnesota, completely drops that scenario to go into the Washington politics, and then brings back the Minnesota people to help get the Clintons...er, the Carvers. Yikes! I am not sure how I was able to finish this travesty. My ARC was the sloppiest one I have received, full of run-on words and sentences and other areas. But, thanks NetGalley, for the ARC.

Political Justice by Dennis L. Carsten is undoubtably the best Legal/Political/Crime drama novel to be written in recent years. Unanswered questions and mysterious deaths going back twenty-something years; and repeated just prior to the 2016 political campaign; the narcissistic personality of the candidate and the candidate’s self-serving staff and spouse made this novel so real that the author needs a disclaimer to the effect that any resemblance to real persons yada, yada, yada!
This is the fastest, most intense thirteen year journey in my lifetime. How Mr. Carstens weaves the mystery, the characters (The hero’s; the villains, and the victims); and the outcome together is mesmerizing. And yet, when “Political Justice” inevitably wins out you just want to cheer and shout”IF ONLY!!!!”

I give this author an unqualified ***** (Five Stars) for Political Justice and move him onto my list of favorite authors. I will be reading his other works very soon. Kudos Dennis!

We have all read (or seen) stories like this before. A politician that is morally corrupt who is an unrepentant philanderer and his ambitious, scheming wife. Here we are introduced to charismatic Governor Thomas Jefferson Carver and his wife Darla Bunton Carver who will stop at nothing, or let no-one get in the way of her lust to become the first woman President of the USA – not even the fact that her husband is involved in the death of a young woman.

I really enjoy books like this, full of intrigue and manipulation but this I really enjoyed. The goodies, are really good and the baddies, Thomas and Darla are just superbly portrayed. Avaricious, egotistical and just brilliantly sketched. Even Thomas was pleased to trip Darla up on occasion – that is how awful she is.

Running in tandem to this main storyline, is the story of Marc Kadella a lawyer in Minnesota.

How I cheered at the end of the book; I didn’t expect the ending but isn’t it nice when things work out in the right way.

If you like political intrigue, good writing and great characters read this and enjoy!

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.

A good political/legal thriller. Not the best of the series, but certainly worth reading. Good plot but sometimes naive.

Brilliant book best read I've had for a long time. The story line although complex the writer made it easy to follow the plot. The link between the lawyer Marc and the Carvers (president and his wife) was thought provoking and encouraged reading to find out how the story line fits together. Although the story is over a number of years I felt it was laid out well. Very up to date and thought provoking about money, the rich and political intrigue, including dishonesty and murder. I would highly recommend this book.
