This would have been a good story, if the writing was not off balance, if the two main characters didn't come across as brainless one minute, and somewhat clever the next. It needs polishing. Arthur, a spy, turns around, and sounds like he doesn't have a brain in his head. She, a jewel theif, squeaks too much! She sounds like a ninny! Finally, on her wedding night, with the only man that she has ever loved, she isn't concentrating on this handsome man, she is thinking about her former disgusting husband? It needs a much polishing, sad, it could have been a good book. I can't in all honesty recommend this book. The Author, and Publisher need to keep working on her skills.

Thank you to the publisher for sharing this ARC with me for which I promised to give a fair and honest review. I have read many of Bianca Blythe's books and I do seek them out. When I saw this new book it intrigued me. The storyline started out with so much potential. A female thief who is stealing to set things right..sound great. I unfortunately felt let down with how the tale progressed from there. I would have liked to see a bit more from the story. Do not let that put you off if you are interested.

I've already read and reread several of Bianca Blythe's books so I was really looking forward to reading this book. The story sounded interesting as well but unfortunately, this book couldn't captivate me the way her other books did. Somehow it seemed a bit rushed and less intense than the other books by her that I've read.

Lady Madeline Mulbourne, our heroine, and our hero, Lord Arthur Carmichael, Marquess of Bancroft, are very likable and interesting characters. They are quite well developed and the writing, on the whole, is also good. I read the book and enjoyed it but I wasn't as deeply enthralled by it as I was by her other books.

When Lord Arthur meets Lady Madeline again after several years, he does not just realize that no matter how much time has passed, some part of his heart is still in love with her but that she might be up to ...something. To be precise - she might be up to something illegal and dangerous and what is more - when worst comes to worst, he knows that he can't let her go. No matter what he feels though, there is still the matter of persuading the lady...
A good book but I liked her other books better.

Unlike most bluestockings, Lady Madeline Mulbourne is quite content for the ton to dismiss her as a widowed baroness and renowned hostess of society parties. No need for anyone to know that her flighty manner disguises an encyclopaedic knowledge of art, and a dangerous secret.
Lord Arthur Carmichael, Marquis of Bancroft, has carefully cultivated a wild reputation. What could be a more perfect cover for the spy missions he undertook for the Crown? Unfortunately now that the war has ended, his reputation could keep him from settling into a cabinet position that is unless he takes a wife. Before Arthur can embark on the dreaded wedding quest, he must complete one last mission: catch a thief who’s stolen four of five priceless pieces of jewellery that once belonged to the Italian family Costatini. Whom should he encounter on the French Riviera but Lady Mulbourne.
Arthur & Madeline fell in love years ago but each thought the other didn’t care, so Arthur walked away, now their paths have crossed again. A well written easy reading book of second chances, as well as romance there’s the thefts, arrests & abduction. The pace of the story is good & kept me reading. The characterisation is good, both Arthur & Madeline are very likeable. This is the fifth book in the series but could be a stand alone book, we do catch up with some of the characters from earlier books but they add to the story. I also enjoyed that part of the story took place in France & Italy. Another very enjoyable book in the series & I look forward to more

Madeline and Arthur are scandalously seductive but immensely complicated. A Marquess for Convenience is standard Bianca Blythe. Ms. Blythe's lure is that she forces readers to use their head while losing their heart. Her complex maze of secrets, romance and danger presents an expedition that MUST be explored. It's a combustible thrill that culminates in an epic battle of wills. The trap is laid quite nicely. Once caught up, there is no turning back.
