Ali has a past secret she needs to stay one step ahead of. When it seems all she wants to do is stop and find a place to belong. Adam would rather be left to his own devices but now he has his niece to care for and she's the most important person ever. Can they both find the answers they seek or will it all blow up in there faces?
I love that this book was not always on the edge of your seat but has a moment were you are literately hanging on to every last work just to find out what is going to happen. I really enjoy coming back and visiting the fun characters of Marietta Montana and this book did not disappoint in any way on catching up with them. I had fun reading about Adam's strong personality and how it did not overwhelm the story and I loved how Ali was a fighter and a super independent. The author did an amazing job and keeping you guessing through out the book and I totally loved Carrie. Carrie is one of those characters who has a tough exterior with a beautiful heart and spirit she was one of my favorites. There is adult language and one adult scene but other then that a super fun read.

OMG....WOW

This book was all sorts of amazing! All the main characters had issues (I'm including Carrie in this group), but not so many that you couldn't keep track. I loved the realness of both characters, but especially Adam. My heart broke once we learned what really happened to him.

AMAZING!!!

I really loved this book! This was kind of like a beauty and the beast type story with a cowboy twist. Adam was disfigured by a fire that left scars on half his face. He left his career and old life behind and has been running a ranch for the last 6 years. Ali is on the run from something and when a chance encounter brings Adam and Ali together, it's a mutually beneficial relationship. He needs someone to help with his 14 year old niece he is raising and she needs to earn money. Adam hires her as his housekeeping and au pair and from there a friendship is formed. This is a slow burn romance, they don't fall into bed together but feelings do develop over time. I loved how sweet Adam was throughout this book - he was the ultimate book boyfriend. I loved the supporting characters and can't wait to go back and read their stories as well. This is the first book I've read in this series and I wasn't lost at all - this is a standalone even though you do meet the characters from previous stories. I loved this story and look forward to reading more by this author!

Ali Thibeaux has been on the run for a while, and has come to Marietta hoping to hide out for a while, and hopes to get a chance to get to know the half-sister who has no clue she exists. Short of money, she pawned her camera, and finally has enough to buy it back, only to find someone bought it already.
Adam Wolfe is desperate to make some kind of headway with his niece. Mistaking Ali for a housekeeper applicant, he strikes a deal: work as housekeeper and he will let her buy back the camera. Adam and Carrie are both scarred, inside and out. Both have guilt they carry and are afraid to bridge the gulf between them. Though she never planned to stay, Ali sees past Adam's physical scars, and also sees how much Adam and Carrie love and need each other.
There is a romance, a few twists, and Ali finding the courage to stop running and find a place to belong.
It was nice to return to Marietta, though Ali and Adam live on the fringes, it is still no surprise that Ali and her sister are thrown together.
Ankrum has written characters that make you root for them and want to see their futures work out. The secondary characters are also well-written and add a nice depth to the story.
A thoroughly enjoyable read that can stand alone, though, if you have read the rest of the series, you will definitely enjoy revisiting the entire family.

When Ali Thibeaux realizes her late mothers camera that she pawned was sold she thinks all hope is lost until help comes from an unlikely source. Adam Wolfe is only looking for someone to help him with cooking and cleaning after he took his niece in to raise. When he mistakes Ali as a candidate he offers her the job not expecting any complications. When an attraction begins between the two can the keep everything professional or will the attraction win out?

I liked this book all the way till the last chapter where i felt it ended abruptly. I enjoyed the main characters and how well they were written.

Another good story set in Marietta, Montana. This one has hotshot photographer Ali, and reclusive rancher Adam, thrown together. She needs her camera back, and he needs a cook and housekeeper. They work out a deal, and of course sparks fly. Throughout the story Ali reminds the reader she is there temporarily, and is on the run from a bad guy. He is in the shadows though, and it is not clear who or what is the issue. He has a tracker on her, who is another grey figure, and confused me a bit. He claimed he was doing this for his sick child, but to waste 2 years leaving said sick child, even if it would pay for helping the child, seems odd. Maybe it was just me, but it stood out in my mind. The climax at the end finally explained some of it, but it would have helped to have a bit more of a foundation at the beginning to see what she was afraid of. Still highly recommend this story, but more details would have made it stronger for me. Good story and author.

Get out your tissues because I defy you not to cry. This story, which is the fourth in Barbara Ankrum's Canadays of Montana series, is warm and heartfelt. Beautifully written and perfectly paced, it is a great story in its own right or as part of the series.
Ali and Adam have both had it tough in one way or another. For Adam it's been hard to deal with the rejection he's come to expect when people see his scarred face. Ali looks straight past that and sees Adam the man. Ali has been on the run for two years before coming to Marietta Montana, where she ends up working for Adam. She's got secrets she's reluctant to share and has trouble trusting people, but somehow Adam works his way past her barriers. When Ali and Adam come together it feels so right.
I really immersed myself in this story. It was a joy to read and a bit tough to put down once it had finished, and I guess that's the mark of good storytelling.

Have you read a love story and felt it was super cool read? Well, “A Cowboy To Keep” is a definite cool keeper and it’s always fun visiting Marietta and it’s wonderful couples.

Barbara Ankrum’s latest is a charming love story with a twist of suspense, bringing Ali Thibeaux to the wonderful town of Marietta albeit undercover to see a sister she never knew existed and get a reprieve from a past that refuses to leave her. Becoming a housekeeper and falling in love with a rancher was never in her plan.

Becoming a parent to his niece was something that reclusive rancher Adam Wolf would have ever dreamed, but tragedy brings these two under one roof, but a distance as wide as the Atlantic. Impulsive as it was hiring Ali as his housekeeper, the consequences are fateful to the sparks that flare between them.

Am totaling loving Barbara Ankrum and her charming romances; rich with emotion, interesting plots and characters that make us fall in love with them, “A Cowboy To Keep “is a definite winner!

Having spent the last couple years on the run, photographer Ali Thibeaux ends up in Marietta where her half-sister (who doesn’t know about her) lives. When Ali needs some cash, she ends up pawning her camera. When Ali finds out rancher Adam Wolfe bought her camera, she seeks him out in hopes he will sell it back to her.

When Ali shows up at Adam’s ranch looking for her camera, he mistakes her as an applicant for the job of housekeeper and companion for his niece. They strike up a deal, Ali takes the job in return she gets her camera. In the end Ali and Adam needed each other as much more than they knew.

I enjoyed this book. The story pulled me in from the start. I could tell the characters and plot were well thought out. The story rolled along at a good pace. Even though this book is part of a series, it can also be read on its own.

A Cowboy to Keep is the best book I have read by Barbara Ankrum. Being book 4 of Canadays of Montana, I can say I enjoyed each previous book but this one had something extra special to it. Perhaps it is the bit of mystery surrounding Adam or the danger stalking Ali, but it really kept me reading.

While you know from the beginning who is searching with vengeance in mind for Ali, the author kept you guessing as to the total reason. My only complaint is I feared the danger might still continue to persist but I could appreciate that the characters did not take the law into their own hands as many suspense stories do.

Usually I like the characters in Canadays of Montana, but Adam, Carrie and Ali seem to have wormed their way into a special place in my heart. They are wounded souls who deserve the love that comes their way. Marietta comes through for them. This is Marietta at its finest.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

I truly enjoyed A Cowboy to Keep by Barbara Ankrum, the fourth book in her Canadays of Montana series. Drifter Ali Thibeaux arrives in Marietta to find her biological half-sister and photograph Olivia’s wedding. All before Ali can be found by her stalker and endanger those around her. There is much more to Adam Wolfe than being a rancher with burn scars. He hires Ali to manager his household, cook and help with his fourteen year old niece, Carrie. Ali is not deterred by Adam’s scars and lets him know. Also, she is able to relate and understand Carrie as she too lost her mother at a similar age. Adam believes that Ali is not telling the entire truth about her situation and tries to learn the truth before it’s too late. There is definitely chemistry and attraction between these two who are unsure about acting on it. Ali trusts no one and is torn about trusting Adam.

I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Ankrum is a wonderful storyteller and she drew me into this story, not letting me go until I read the last page. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

It’s a hard fact of life that sometimes doing the right thing, for the right reasons will follow you forever… and not in a good way. Ali knows this all too well as she tries, repeatedly unsuccessfully, to avoid one man set on righting a wrong (in his mind only), one vindictive stalker who will never, ever let Ali go.

One overeager pawn shop keeper, one day too late to pick up a precious camera, Ali will set out to see if she can buy back one item that means so much to her… and finds far more than she ever bargained for. Adam mistakes her for an applicant for the job opening he has to cook for the family and be a companion to his niece Carrie. They each need something from the other so a deal is struck. It’s a deal more to her benefit as she’s looking for her half-sister Olivia, to photograph her wedding, to just meet and know but not tell who they are to each other. Ali would never put her in danger by leading her stalker straight to someone he could use to hurt her… but best intentions won’t help her now.

A Cowboy To Keep is an intense at times, sadly sweet at other times romance that will capture your heart. Adam is a strong, stubborn character who has been through so much in life. Ali really sees him, the man behind the scars and the keep away attitude. Their attraction is believable and they make a strong, stubborn couple. I liked then individually and definitely together. While you don’t “have” to have read the earlier books in this series, I would strongly suggest that you pick them up if you can. There are relationships and history from the series that will make parts of A Cowboy To Keep make a bit more sense in spots.

I enjoyed my time once again with the Canadays of Montana and would recommend this story, or the entire series to any Romance reader who enjoys likable, believable characters, a bit of mystery and two people who were made for each other. Follow their journey and enjoy.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Ali a photographer, is on the run and arrives in Marietta to find her half biological sister. She had to sell her camera and now Adam has bought it, all she wants is her camera back but Adam has different ideas. Adam is a recluse, raising his niece. He hires Ali to be a nanny and help around the house. Soon Ali has turned the house into a home.

Loved how Ali and Adam's relationship built and grew. Loved Carrie, Ali was so patient and good with her. How can you not love Boomer the dog, love animals in the story. With an element of mystery on why Ali is the run, makes for a perfect read. Love the Canadays!

This seems to have been a very strong series for Tule. In this last entry, you have a woman who is running from a threat and she uses the wedding she is supposed to photograph as a reason to be in Marietta. Actually she is looking for her half sister. 'She makes a bad decision regarding her camera and that puts her in the path of the rancher. Our guy is distant and not looking for any entanglements but he does need help with his niece... so a deal is struck for the camera he bought from the pawn shop.

This has heart and well done.

This story was a very well written story. Both the plot and the main characters, Ali and Adam as well as Carrie, were well developed ,and engaging. I am going back to read the other books in this series.

I spent two years of high school in Texas which meant I formed a healthy admiration of cowboys fairly young. Especially working cowboys since hard earned muscles, a shit eating grin along with a cocky attitude and a cowboy hat will do it for me every freaking time. In desperate need of a change of pace, I came across an arc for A Cowboy To Keep on Netgalley and jumped on it while smiling a shit eating grin of my own.

This was a kinder and gentler book than I expected with nary a cocky cowboy in sight. For a brief moment, I thought Adam was going to be an alpha-hole, but he wasn’t that at all. He was completely broken with scars showing inside and out. When his recently orphaned 14-year-old niece came to live with him he became completely overwhelmed and clueless along with all that brokenness.

Ali has lots of issues. She came to town to connect with a sister who doesn’t know she exists even if it’s just to observe her from afar. Also, she’s on the run from a bad guy with an ax to grind. She’s low on cash and running out of options when fate finds her on Adam’s doorstep at the most opportune of times. He has something she wants back and she could help with this niece so they strike a deal. Ali just hopes her secrets don’t catch up with her before she can complete her deal with Adam.

I wasn’t getting the true cowboy vibe from Adam. I finally figured out he wasn’t originally one which explained a lot. This story was sweet from start to finish which I enjoyed despite it not being what I thought it would be. Everything about the book was slower moving than my usual reads, but this left time for emotions to shine through. Especially when it came to helping Adam’s niece heal from the loss of her parents.

The chemistry between Adam and Ali was there, but it wasn’t explosive. More like it slowly expanded as the story went on. Even the sex scenes were slow, sweet, gentle and full of emotion.

There was a suspense aspect that played a huge part in the story just because it was looming over things. I felt a bit cheated when it wrapped up so easily plus I wanted to know more about the PI that was following Ali. He had issues of his own and I thought we’d see that play out.

All in all an enjoyable read best saved for when you are in a mood for a soft and sweet story with a bit of suspense. I’m now on the lookout for a hot, cocky alpha-hole cowboy. Suggestions would be appreciated.

LOVED this story!! Ali Thibeauxis on the run and hiding from her past. When she shows up at Adam Wolfe's ranch hoping to find her camera she stumbles upon not only a job but a great place to hideaway. Adam is gruff and reclusive but he needs her help with his niece. So the three of them settle into a nice comfortable arrange with the attraction between Adam and Ali growing everyday. Things seem perfect until Ali's past catches up to her.

A great read you shouldn't miss. I recommend it.

A Cowboy to Keep by Barbara Ankrum
The Canadays of Montana #4

I love meeting new minds by reading new-to-me authors and I truly did enjoy reading this book. I came into the series later than I like to BUT had no trouble following the story or meeting people that no doubt have been introduced previously. I like this author’s style and look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

So…in this story Ali is on the run BUT she also wants to at least look in on the only family she has left – family that has no idea she exists. She has just been disappointed trying to reclaim something she pawned so heads off to find out if there is a way to appeal to the person who purchased the item that is one of her last ties to her mother and in so doing she is offered a job she cannot refuse – for a number of reasons. Who offered her the job? Adam Wolfe. Adam is a rancher but oh so much more than that. He has taken in his niece, has completely changed his line of work, is scarred (in more ways than one) and a wonderful person underneath it all. Carrie, the niece, has suffered great losses in her lifetime and has much to work through. With Ali and Adam she is able to eventually emerge a bit at a time from underneath the heavy weight she is carrying. Of course the bad guy is still lurking in the background, Ali’s family is still clueless and there is romance building.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.
