Rescued by the Wolf is the second book in the Blood Moon Brotherhood series penned by Sasha Summers. I never read the first book in the series and this would too; be my first book by this author.

Rescue by the Wolf was a surprisingly good book. With strong character and a well-developed plot. The characters grew on you. There is a little mystery to solve along the way which made it even better as the two main characters struggle with the predicament they found themselves in.

A definite must read, especially if you’re a fan of the paranormal genre which this title fits right in with books like the Cascadia Wolves Series and Wolves of Willow Bend.

I really liked this read. Mal is finally able to escape his captors and takes injured Olivia with him. He is out for revenge but will Olivia become more important to him? Plenty of drama and suspense with great characters and a great story, I was hooked from beginning to end. Looking forward to more in the series.

Rescued by the Wolf is book 2 in the Blood Moon Brothers series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone. I really enjoyed the plot and characters of this paranormal romance. It didn't really explain 'Others' in this book so I can only assume they were explained in the first book. But the differences were highlighted well in this book. After reading this one I am definitely wanting the first book. I enjoyed a different take on shifters. Mal and Olivia were an interesting couple. Olivia accepted things a bit too easily but that is the beauty of fiction.

There is a lot going on in this book and this series seems to really be starting to gear up. I enjoyed being able to get lost in this book and look forward to the next one. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun paranormal romance.

Werewolf Series by Sasha Summers

Blood Moon Brothers Series (book #2)
First book in the series is Falling for the Billionaire Wolf and His Baby

I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for a fair review and did not read the first book. Even though I was not necessarily confused, I would suggest reading the first book then this book. I plan to go back and read the first book now.

Book Boyfriend: 💋💋💋
Mal is a bitter, surly werewolf. He was left behind by his pack for dead and taken prisoner by the rival pack. He is kept in a cage naked, barely fed and tortured for months. All he thinks about is his revenge – against his torturer and the alphas of both his pack who made the decision to leave him for dead and the enemy pack who is giving the orders for his torture. Underneath all the disgruntled anger, there is a caring and protective man. He rescues Olivia from the cage beside him in his escape and then continues to save her life along the way. He is drawn to her and treats her differently than everyone else. He is a man of few words, to the point where we don’t get to connect with him as a reader. He was just meh.

Strong Female Lead: 💋💋💋💋
Olivia Chase is a strong woman that experiences a lot of life-altering, mind-blowing events in a very short period of time. She struggles through what these new revelations mean for her life but comes out stronger and more determined than ever. Olivia embraces these changes and does a great job standing up for herself and convincing Mal to open up. I also think she is pretty funny at times which I greatly appreciate. She’s a girl that I would hang out with and have fun.

Plot: 💋💋💋
All books go by the same literary plot – beginning, obstacles and problems are introduced (one sticks out the most), characters struggle through these and come to a resolution. I felt like this story abided by the plot BUT the main problem was not resolved. I kept waiting but nothing. There was a HEA for the two characters but the underlying problem of the plot was not. I know this is a series but I feel like this problem was the main focus and should have been taken care of. I liked the werewolf legend and am left intrigued by how the rival pack was created, as well as the woman that came from the rival pack.

Steamy Factor: 💋💋💋
There’s definitely some steam in the novel but not overpowering. I think the whole “virgin” thing is sometimes overdone but this wasn’t over-the-top which I appreciated. Mal is a dominant male and that transfers to the bedroom.

Overall: 💋💋💋
I really enjoy paranormal romance and find the whole werewolf thing interesting. I liked the idea behind this story but felt like the depth in characters lacked. I wish there were more details about them that made there a connection to the reader. I am all about connection and in this book I didn’t feel it. If Mal died, I wouldn’t have been too sad and that’s not good. I also didn’t like that there was no resolution to the main problem.

Book Summary from author:
Mal wants one thing in life—vengeance against those that deserted him and those who tortured him. But rescuing a wounded girl from their captors, one that wreaks of innocence and fear, makes Mal put his plan on hold. Temporarily. He’ll do what he needs to keep her alive and safe, even if it changes both of their lives forever.

Being stabbed and held in a dark cell wasn’t on Olivia’s top ten list. Her savior isn’t exactly hero material. Angry, scarred, and pissed at the world, he seems to resent being saddled with her. But the longer they’re together, the more firmly a connection forms between them. A connection that binds her to him, his pack, and his world. But that connection may just lead to her death

'Rescued by the Wolf' by Sasha Summers is Book Two in the "Blood Moon Brotherhood"Series. This is the story of Mal and Olivia. I have read the previous book and think it would help you enjoy this one better if you do read it first. With that said, I do feel you can make this a standalone book if you choose to do so.
Mal is a hard feeling wolf who doesn't have soft spots but when he is taken and thrown in a cage he plans his escape. While planning on getting out Olivia is thrown into a cage near him. Olivia is hurt and upset that they are also after her brother. Mal tries to not get involved with her but his 'wolf' wont let him. Mal's 'wolf' wants to protect her so when he escapes he has to take her with him.
Olivia is human, but Mal is finding out she has a strong personality.
This was an exciting story that I couldn't put down!
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Rescued by the Wolf, by Sasha Summers is a paranormal romance focused on werewolves.

Mal and Olivia meet as captives in cages -- he's a werewolf and she's human. After their struggle to escape, Mal returns to the wolf pack with Olivia, even though his friends previously abandoned him. As the story unfolds, there's plenty of drama and action, while dealing with their evil enemy, as well as traitors in the wolf pack.

Rescued by the Wolf is geared towards those who enjoy reading paranormal action-suspense romances, particularly stories involving werewolves.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This was an interesting read. You really feel sympathy for the plight of Mal and Olivia, abused by the others, left to fend for themselves, but still rising above everything to find themselves and each other. It's a good story of them each coming into their own and growing into their roles. There was a bit much graphic description for my taste, but barring that it was a good story! Thank you for the opportunity to read and review it!

I enjoyed this book, especially the fact that it read as a standalone in a series. Rarely does an author manage to pull that off, and here it was done rather successfully! Unfortunately I found it hard to connect with the characters - in particular, Mal. Whenever I think of him I have this image of a homeless person. Hm. But otherwise I would recommend for someone looking to pass the time.

Wow! Props to the author for being able to completely change my first impression of Mal. In book one, Mal was a silent angry loner. He was closed mouthed and so pissy. Like. ALL. The. Time. Seriously, he was a jerk, no way around it. But I enjoyed the werewolf legend the author had introduced us to in book one so I was intrigued enough to give this one a try and I'm so happy that I did.

This can be read as a stand alone but I would highly recommend reading the first in the series to really get a good feel for the continuing storyline.

Mal makes a brief appearance in book one and during the big showdown, Mal is left for dead in hands of the enemy. While enduring yet another session of torture, Mal gains a prison mate. Olivia thought she was just at the wrong place, at the wrong time but her brother's shady business dealings have landed her in hell on earth. Mal never set out to be a hero but there's something about Olivia that calls to his wolf.

Olivia has always been independent ... and alone. But this nightmare she's walked in on doesn't have an end in sight and if she has to depend on someone, it's fitting its Mal. He's gruff and a man of very few words but his actions speak for him. Now that Olivia is part of this darker, more dangerous world, she's ready to fight for the man that saved her and without even trying, claimed her body and soul.

What I loved:
With so many shifter books out there, I like when an author can bring her own twists to the werewolf myth. I loved that the Blood Moon Brothers have wolves within them that have their own thoughts and their own feelings.

Mal and Olivia were perfectly matched. Their easy camaraderie, their strong (if a bit reluctant) friendship, and their slow burn romance clicked for me. I enjoyed this one so much more than Finn and Jesse's romance. The emotional and physical connection was spot on and the sexual tension between them kept things hot and heavy from start to finish.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like about Rescued by the Wolf. It was well written, entertaining and had awesome MCs. I did wish we could have gotten a bit more insight into the rest of the pack mates. With Cyrus on the loose and still more answers left in mystery, I can't wait to find out what is in store for Mal, Olivia and the rest of their pack. Having the were-babies in the mix gives the story an extra kick.

Favorite Line(s):
... nothing said comfort like cuddling with a werewolf-man.

He was raw and hungry for her, and it was beautiful. Jaw clenched. Cheeks flushed. Nostrils flared. And those dark brown eyes crashing into her.

She could be quiet. But her wolf chose that moment to argue. Her wolf said Mal liked hearing her voice, that it chased away the hurt in his heart.

Memorable Moments:
I think the scene that most stuck out for me was their run through the forest. The fight to survive, not only the harsh wilderness but later, the bite and all the consequences and complications that come with it. Seeing Mal and getting to see a whole other side of him. A side that shows his compassion, his loyalty and his rock hard determination to save Olivia. It was awesome!

You get to see Mal as Olivia sees him. Not a half crazed bitter wolf but a man who has felt pain, betrayal and confusion for far too long. I really liked seeing both MCs come to care for each other so completely. It wasn't all about the sex either, they genuinely come to care for each other as friends, as part of the pack. It sold the romance for me and kept me glued to the pages.

Rescued by the Wolf by Sasha Summers
Blood Moon Brotherhood #2

Sometimes I just like a werewolf shapeshifter romance and it seems this book hit me at just the right time. I had not read the previous book in this series but had no trouble jumping right in, following and enjoying book two AND there was enough hints to flesh out most of book one without retelling the entire story.

Mal has been suffering for some time at the hands of The Others when an injured young woman is brought in and put into the cage next to his. His wolf is drawn to her immediately although Mal is less smitten – at least at first. With the opportunity to escape presenting itself he takes it and takes Olivia with him. While on the run she is further injured, turned into a werewolf and then meets his pack. There is a traitor in the midst of Mal’s pack to find and information to be revealed about Olivia’s family and The Others before the book ends.

I don’t give away spoilers but will say that this had elements I like to see in such stories: steamy scenes, fights, pack unity, time spent as a wolf, steamy scenes, thwarting the bad guys and a problem that still needs to be resolved. There is no cliffhanger but there is enough said to make th reader want to read the next book – at least this reader ;)

I loved Olivia and found her a person I would like to get to know better. Mal appealed though he was a bit taciturn at times. I really want to know more about Ellen – for some reason she intrigues me – being not of them but also not of the last pack she was in. I liked the fact that there were baby werewolves and…well…I just liked this book and am definitely hoping to read more by this author. Oh…and the rest of the pack sounds intriguing, too, I mean…male werewolf shapeshifters that all need a mate…got to want to see them all settle down, right?

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

3 1/2 Star Review......

Rescued by the Wolf is the second instalment in Ms Summers Blood Moon Brotherhood and the series only gets better with each new storey.

A well-written, adrenaline-packed tale of werewolves, betrayal, and romance that once you start, is impossible to put down. I did find the start a little slow, but once the pace picked up, it was full steam ahead! There are moments of predictability, but the dark intense nature of this story keeps the reader totally engrossed till the very end.

Olivia and Mal are very different personalities, but eventually come together through perseverance and strength of character. Overall, a satisfying read.

This book wasn't as good as the first. However, it improved a lot moving along through the story. I felt the beginning was abrupt and I felt a little lost like I didn't know what was happening but that is probably my own fault for not re-reading the first book. I guess technically you can read this as a standalone but for everything to make perfect sense I would recommend reading the first book first. It took time for everything to smooth out and when it did I could really enjoy it. Mal is out for vengeance against those who have tortured him and believes to be abandoned by his pack. He is at a low point with only anger to fuel him. Then there is Olivia who is literally thrown into this world because she was involved and didn't even know it. These two are so different but from the beginning they work well together. Their chemistry is so good. Mal tries to fight it but he is no match for Olivia. There is also intensity that the first book had that really added to the high stakes and plot. Overall, I really enjoyed this book but this wasn't an all around 5 star rating.

This is the second book in the Blood Moon Brotherhood and picks up a few months after the end of the first book.
Rescued by the wolf is Mal's story. While being kept hostage Mal meets Olivia. The two are thrown together trying to escape and a deep connection begins to form. Mal and Olivia have to learn to navigate the growing attraction between them as well as dealing with pack issues and the people who held them hostage.
This was a good addition to the Blood Moon Brotherhood series. While getting Mal's story we also get to catch with Finn and Jessa and the rest of the pack which was great.
Can't wait to find out which pack member the next book will be about.

This book seemed like it was shoving to much time into a smallish book. I enjoyed the premise but I couldn't connect with the characters.

I think there's a fine line that romance authors have to walk between sexual tension and will-they-wont-they-we-don't-care-anymore, in terms of dragging out the foreplay. This dipped too many toes over the line for me. By the time they actually got together and all the dramatic self-loathing and reasons NOT to, I pretty much just skipped around looking for plot high points... and sex. I'm shallow like that.
It took off at an alright pace after that, and the suspense element was proportionate to the romance - seems to be leading up to another in the same series. I'd give another book byt his author a shot.

Rescued by the Wolf, Sasha Summers

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Sci-fi and Fantasy, Romance

I love fantasy and shifter novels are a huge draw for me so I was eager to read this, a new series. I enjoyed it, but it was kind of a "shifters lite" novel, one where there's so much potential in the story but the sex and romance overtakes the drama.

The characters were OK, not great but not bad eiother. I found things a little glossed over though, for example how easily Olivia puts all the weirdness behind her, how she's so accepting of shifters. Most people would be climbing the walls terrified, she's all "oh I must be dreaming, yep, Ill carry on dreaming about sex with this guy I've just met" Who must have been pretty whiffy and unsavoury to look at!!After all being tortured for all that while, and barely kept alive means his captors were unlikely to have given him regular access to showers, deodorant and toothbrush!!
Then there's Mal, one moment he's Mr Angry, all Others are bad, he'll wreak vengeance on them all, his Pack are bad, they left him, and then he hears Finn's explanation and becomes Mr Understanding. Logic doesn't always play in to emotions but he capitulated on that quite quickly.
Finn was right in what he did, and I know Mal would see that, but a little more internal struggle before accepting would have been good.

When it comes to the Others, well I can see how evil they are, how Finn's pack needed to protect themsleves but the mystery over the connection the Others had with Olivia's brother wasn't hard to guess. Soon as the imported items were mentioned I'd guessed what they were, just surprised that none of the pack did.
I did like the explanation of the origins of Finn's pack, but I'd like to know more about the origins of the Others, how many of them etc. Though looking back I think I read they didn't know, so maybe that can't be done yet but is coming later.
I'd like to know what the pack do on a day to day basis, do they work for Finn, elsewhere, spend the time practicing defence or something?
Why were they so trusting of Ellen. Granted she's useful with Jess but that wouldn't have been clear when they first met so why did they take her in? And speaking of her why was she so full of animosity to Olivia and then kept being friendly, then cold, then OK again. I found her very changeable.
I'd like to have known so much more about the pack and the people in it - what about their previous freinds and relatives - did they think they were dead or something? How did the pack first find out about Others and vice versa.

Its a series that holds potential but for me there's a way to go and I need a few more answers to the basics and a little more reality ( in as much as there can be in Fantasy) in the characters and their (re)actions and the story itself.

Stars: Three, it's hard for first novels in a series, for me this is OK but doesn't quite cut it yet.

Werewolf , Mal has lost track of how long he has been imprisoned. To him it doesn't matter how much they torture him, he will never betray his pack, even if they did abandon him.
Olivia Chase steps in to save her brother from attack. The next thing she knows she is bleeding out from a knife wound and thrown into a cage. It must be a nightmare, she will wake up soon.
Our hero longs to give up but his wolf has other ideas. Unfortunately with the silver collar Mal can't shift to let the wolf out.
Our heroine's whole world is about to change. The family she loved prove to be much different to what she believed. How will she ever cope with the facts?.
This is part of a series where the books carry on from each other, but you could still really enjoy this on it's own. Lots of action, an incredibly stubborn hero and a strong but confused heroine. Some of the werewolf rules we are used to are a little different, especially the claiming. It is a series that I'm already addicted to. I can't wait for the next one.

A thrilling, heart-pounding tale of werewolves, betrayal, and love! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened to Mal and Olivia, even if it meant not leaving my room for several hours as I blew through the pages. A bit dark in places and scary as heck in others, it's not a book for the faint of heart, but it is a book for those who like strength and perseverance in the face of tragedy and loss.

Mal is almost at his limit. Spending months at the mercy of the Others, led by a psychopath named Cyrus, he is at his breaking point. But now he has Olivia Chase to protect - a strong, witty young woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Escaping their cages and running from Cyrus, Olive and Chase come face-to-face with their worst fears. If Mal is to save Olivia, he must confront his Wolf, that being within him ever since he was bitten and changed. His Wolf knows that Olivia is his, but Mal is having none of it. When Olivia's life is threatened further, Mal must make a terrible choice, and the consequences could be both his salvation and his demise.

The best part of this book was the dialogue between Mal and Olivia. I often read books where the two main characters snarl at each other, and predictably, their hate turns to love as the book progresses. With Mal and Olivia, it wasn't hate but rather mutual distrust. In Mal's case, he wasn't sure if he could trust Olivia at first, but over time, it appears that he trusts himself around her even less. Olivia just believes she's been kidnapped and knows nothing of werewolves or the Others. She takes it all in stride though, past the initial bout of denial, and lying underneath her fear and bravado is a solid strength. This is what Mal eventually falls in love with, despite his Wolf constantly growling at him that she is his Mate. It's more than just lust or fate - it's love in its truest form. Self-sacrificing and hits you right in the heart.

This was my first book by Sasha Summers, and I am sure it won't be the last! It is unique, thrilling, and a page-turner you will have a hard time putting down, even after the last page.
