Holy gods of books! This book was big. But then I like big books and I cannot lie!

Getting serious now. Releasing Chaos is the last book in the Sumeria’s Sons series. It’s a series I followed since the beginning and before it was re-released by Less than Three Press. I’m sure glad the series got finished.

In this last book everything comes together and it gets a bit messy and complicated, but it all works out in the end.

Releasing Chaos picks up almost directly from where it left off in the previous book. With Nathan’s imprisonment and let me tell you, that is only the beginning. Unlike the other books, a lot of characters get screen time or rather page time in this book. That was one of the downsides for me. While I understand the reason for it, it made the book jumpy and all over the place. At the same time, I also thought it was needed to bring this story to and end. So I’m fence sitting on this one.

The plot works towards the big climax that was coming from the beginning of the series, and I thought that was well done. What liked very much is that the story didn’t just stop there with the happy ending. The heroes won the day, but we get a look in in their happily ever after. Not many books do this as it’s not something that is easily written. Either you overwork it or it just gets cheesy. In the case of Releasing Chaos, I thought it was done right.

The book is not without its faults. There are some minor inconsistencies and I think it could have done with a last read-through, but to be honest, in the scheme of this book, it didn’t bother me as much as it does with other books.

The writing was good and strong and flowing. Not overly flowery or over explanatory. So should you read Releasing Chaos? Well, that depends on if you liked the previous books, because you can’t read this one without it. If you did then hell yeah, go pick it up!
