I received an advanced copy of The Doll House from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and fair review....

Rating: 3.5 Stars

The Doll House was all about games. Corrine and Ashley are sisters who lost their Dad a little less than a year ago when the story starts. Nearing the time of his death anniversary, Corrine, begins to get these little pieces of her childhood doll house. At first, it seems like nothing, but soon enough, nothing turns into something. Among the doll house pieces being left for Corrine, she is struggling to get the thing she wants most out of life, a baby. Ashley on the other hand has a family of three and a husband who seems a little distant lately. While she isn't receiving pieces of the doll house, she is going through some struggles of her own, that may or may not be purposefully pushed upon her.

Let me explain, the three star rating:

While the premise of the story was interesting, it was a very slow beginning. While some things happen immediately, it really takes quite a bit of time to pick up. At least, that is how I felt while reading it. Next, the story was rather repetitive which can get boring. The characters would experience something, next they would explain it to someone and then they would summarize the situation in their head a time or two. It got a bit boring to read the same bit that I just read in a new context. Some of the points just seemed a bit too stressed. As well, I found Ashley and Corrine rather frustrating. I felt many of the issues could have been resolved by simply asking or speaking up. However, I am well aware that being forthcoming doesn't equate to good drama. But it seemed like they often made very simply solutions turn into out of control situations (for example, the issue that got their son sent home). Simply speaking up from the start would have deescalated the situation that followed very easily. But I get it, what kind of story would that make?

Morgan's excerpts from the child's turned adult point of view were done brilliantly. I found it perfect the way that the author presented those bits. Never allowing that particular character their own chapter. Much like their actual life, they only got to piggy back off our main characters. That touch was so appropriate and genius for that characters position in the story.

The ending for me picked up quite a bit. It took an okay story and turned it into a thrilling little cat and mouse game. The final chapter was juicy as hell. What a horrible and delectable little punch to the jaw for our characters.

I found the very beginning of this book a little confusing as I couldn't see how the "thens" and "nows" were connected. As soon as it clicked, I was absolutely hooked in. I'm usually a "chapter or two a night" type of reader, but I eventually made myself break off from reading this book last night, and finished the book this morning. I have to say, I'm glad I did as I wouldn't have been able to sleep afterwards anyway! This book was incredibly creepy and chilling. The key moments were always just when you weren't expecting them. In fact this story is so creepy, I'd love to see it as a film! Every time I thought I'd sussed the plot there was yet another twist, and even when I did guess I couldn't be sure I was right. The ending twist was unexpected, I thought I was going to read more, but there wasn't any, and then I went back to see if I missed something! A very open ending, which I'm hoping is paving the way to a sequel....
Thank you to Net Galley and the HQ Digital Team for sending me this ARC.

I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping psychological thriller and honestly couldn't put it down. It had me gripped from the very first page. I thought I had figured it all out but then realised I was suspecting everyone and kept changing my mind. This author is definitely one to look out for in the future and I look forward to reading more by her.

Interesting read. I felt like parts dragged on and it didn't grab me as much as I thought it would have. I enjoyed the ending. I also liked the different points of view(first and third) given between the narrarators.

Suspenseful debut thriller about two sisters and a third character. This book is about family secrets and lies . The book switches back and forth between the characters . Ashley the oldest sister is married to James and they have three children Lucy , Benji and Holly . Ashley works one day a week at a cafe just to get out of the house . She has a lady watch Holly that day . Corrine is the second sister and she and Dominic are trying to have a baby . She's had three failed IVF attempts. She has one more chance . Corrine starts finding tiny dollhouse parts outside her door , in her home and at work . They look exactly like the dollhouse parts that came from a dollhouse her father built for her and her sister . Her father had passed away about a year earlier and her mother stored his things including the dollhouse in her attic . Corrine visits her mother and looks in the attic and the dollhouse is not there.
Ashley starts having problems with her children..
This book has a great plot with plenty of suspense. Thanks to HQ Digital and Netgalley for the copy in exchange for my honest review !

Corinne is desperate for a baby. Her and her husband Dominic have tried IVF before but it failed. Corinne's sister Ashley gives her the money for another try.. And that is when Corinne finds parts of the doll house she had as a kid in her house.. At work.. The Doll House was a gift from her father and as they approach the year anniversary of his death, Corinne asks her mum where the Doll House is... Is her mum telling the truth?

I loved this book - kept me guessing throughout and when I thought I had it sussed something else would happen to prove me completely wrong!

The Doll House is one of those books that's a lovely slow burner. With each turn of the page you are drawn further into the book with the plot line building all the time to a fantastic ending.

The characters are great. You can almost experience the emotion Corinne is feeling. Desperate to have a baby and then finding a part from a dolls house outside her flat. Then as more pieces turn up realising someone has been in her flat and is watching her.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was pacy and had me hooked from the beginning with some lovely twists thrown in.

I would give this book 4.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ Digital and Phoebe Morgan for the chance to review.

The Doll House is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you turning the page to see what will happen next. Corinne and Ashley grew up loved and cherished but lately their lives seem to be falling apart. Corinne is desperately trying to start a family while Ashley is desperately trying to hold hers together. Concurrently we are given flashbacks of an unknown child’s torturous childhood. The writing is provocative and this is terrific debut novel. The characters have depth and pull the reader in from the beginning. You will want to know more about these women, about who they are and where they are headed. This is aided by gaining perspective from many different characters throughout the book. The change in perspective adds to the mystery of events. I found myself worried that I had “figured it all out” early on and was glad to see that most of my intuitions were wrong. I flew through this novel because I was invested in these girls and I could not wait to see how things turned out. Even though some things were easy to guess the novel was still worth the read and worth reading quickly.

Corrine and Ashley's life seems to be idyllic, but what outsiders don't know is that both of their lives are anything but perfect. Corrine and her boyfriend Dominic have been through round after round of IVF with no pregnancy to show for it. Ashley's husband James has started working long hours and she fears that he is having an affair. Her youngest daughter is having night terrors, her son is getting in fights on the playground and her oldest daughter has started acting out. What Corrine & Ashley do not realize is that a stranger is watching them...... and what they have planned is more sinister than anyone could have imagined.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. I could not put it down. This is definitely a must-read! I look forward to reading many more books by this author.

Wow - this really is a tense thriller. Read it in two days. Creepy and nerve tingling throughout with a twist at the end. Had me engrossed from start to finish and can't wait for the next one.

Thanks to Netgalley for the advance copy of this. I really liked this book!
It starts with Corinne who is going through IVF to have a baby with her partner Dominic, it also tells the story through her sister Ashley who is already a mum to 3 children. And Dominic also gives his part of the story too, I like the 3 narrators in this book and I also like the characters. Some parts of the story were really obvious and others were much more subtle. I enjoy a book where I'm right about the outcome, where you get that moment of "oh I know what's going on here" I'd highly recommend reading this! Will look out for more to come!

The Doll's House, Phoebe Morgan's debut psychological thriller, delivers and keeps the reader guessing until the very end. It is an unputdownable thriller that I read in two sittings and the final twist caught me out.

It is during the lead up to the first year anniversary of the death of their charismatic architect father that the lives of two sisters, Corinne and Ashley, are turned upside down. Corrine and her partner Dominic's attempts at trying for a baby via IVF have failed and she is distraught. She becomes paranoid when pieces from her childhood dolls house appear mysteriously in her home and her mother is secretive about what happened to the dolls house.
Ashley's husband, James, spends long hours at work leaving her to care for her three children. The youngest, Holly is a baby who suffers from nighttime terrors ensuring that Ashey gets little or no sleep. She receives silent phone calls which she comes to believe are from someone James must be seeing as he is never around.

Interspersed in the narrative is an unnamed character who we realise is following events. Who is she and what does she want? How is she involved with the two sisters? Unlike many other psychological thrillers, we are kept guessing to the end and the twist is excellent. Readers of I See You and The Sister will love this book. Many thanks to NetGalley and HQDigital for the opportunity to read and review The Dolls House.

Brilliant book! Fast paced, hooks you from page one and towards the end it gets your heart racing. I honestly had to put this book down several times because the adrenaline was making my heart thump. Loved it!

This was a fast-paced mystery/thriller that takes different members of a picture perfect family, and combines them into a story about how we never know what is going on behind closed doors, maybe not even in our own families.

I loved the way the author wrote and drew us in to the story and the characters -- I could feel myself descending into "madness" like Ashley and Corinne -- terrified that maybe I was insane and that I was making it all up.

I wasn't 100% sold on the very ending, and wished it hadn't ended on such a cliffhanger/open ending, but other than that - it was great.

I simply loved this wonderful debut from Phoebe Morgan, it had me turning pages quicker than the speed of light. The story follows Corinne, who along with her sister, is wrecked with grief after the death of their father almost a year before. Trying to move on, her and endearing boyfriend Dominic have been unsuccessfully trying for a baby through IVF. The treatments have taken their toll on the couple, so when Corinne notices tiny pieces of her old doll’s house turning up, Dominic brushes off the suggestion something sinister is going on, believing Corinne is suffering emotionally. I really enjoyed how the story built up and intertwined with the childhood flashbacks and I loved the characters, especially Dominic who I thought was a great character. I was gripped as the pace quickened, unravelling the clever plot and don’t think my Kindle button has ever been clicked so fast as it was towards the end. It was sinister and creepy in all the right ways.

A tense and unnerving read which I raced through desperate for the answers to the many questions that this novel presented.
This book centers around two sisters who are dealing with with some creepy happenings. Silent calls, objects turning up in the house and a mysterious stranger. This book has it all! I love how the story blends a past story with the present. I fairly connected it up quickly but the ending still shocked me! Very cleverly tied up with a chilling ending.
It leaves you questioning about how well we really know those who we idolize and is your perception of a person really how they are to others?

A very chilling and suspenseful book and I would highly recommend it.

The cover and the first pages of this novel are absolutely stunning as physiological thrillers go, but as I crept along the next pages to find this great story, it just was too slow paced.
Really hard to follow through as interest in the story goes away.

Corrine and her sister have lived the perfect idyllic childhood. They have the loving mother and caring father. They enjoy everything life has to offer them as children.
Being grownup has its trials, but things are good for the sisters. Ashley has a loving husband a d three beautiful children. Corrine has a wonderful boyfriend. The only thing lacking is her desire for a baby.
Then one day she finds a rocking horse in her flat. A mere toy, but one from her childhood. Where did it come from? Most importantly, how did it get in their flat, and who put it there.
A psychological thriller, that takes you through the twists and turns and ups and downs, til you wonder, are you standing or sitting. Wonderfully chaotic, reads like a gothic. Absolutely loved it.
5 stars!

Sisters Corinne and Ashley have their problems: one is struggling with infertility, while the other fears her husband is cheating. After a series of strange occurrences at both their homes, they wonder if it might have something to do with a doll's house that was their dead father's pride and joy. Would appeal to fans of family drama and domestic thriller, although the child-like voice of one of the sisters made it difficult to take her fears seriously.

I did not figure it out at all. This book was full of so many edge of your seat twists and turns. The author did an amazing job building the suspense throughout this book that I was riveted till the very end. Ashley and Corrine are both living lives that make them question their lives. I look forward to reading more books from this author. Thank you NetGalley and Phoebe Morgan for allowing me to read and leave an honest review of this book.
