Usually I at least enjoy Ridleys novels but this was boring. Starting with the book cover which is not well done at all. I tried to finish it three times but couldnt. Felt no connection to the leads.

This a cute and fluffy romance. I've never read Erica Ridley before, but I really want to binge read her backlist. I already own a couple of her books and this arc has motivated me to bump her up on my TBR.

Love, loved this book!!

I love this story, it was what a fairytale is all about, for me. Dahlia is a firecracker! I adored her character in the previous book, she has a great whit about her and will go to any means to provide for those she loves and protects. Simon is a stright-shooting Bow Street Runner, who is an all masculine, hard working man. He vies to serve and protect the people who cannot do so for themselves. I adored the interaction, their forbidden chemistry and the overall story line.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Felt like this was a bit repetative at times. It was a quick read but a bit frustrating. I wanted to tell the heroine "WE KNOW, You've said that 5 times"
Otherwise it was an okay read

The very first sentence - "Unlike proper debutantes, Miss Dahlia Grenville is secretly Robin Hood in a bonnet." - sets the tone for the whole book. What a wonderful way to spend time reading about this selfless woman. She meets Bow Street runner, Simon Spaulding when he comes to her rescue as she is saving a young girl from a very unsavory man. You see, although the daughter of a well to do baron, she has established a boarding school for improvised young girls. Otherwise, the girls would be living on the streets or worse working in a brothel. At the St. Gi!we School for Girls, they are taught marketable skills, maids, housekeeping, etc. Dahlia and Simon are attracted to each other from the get go. What will Simon who sees everything in black and white, right or wrong do when he finds Dahlia is the Thief of Mayfair he has been assigned to catch? Will he see her need to provide for her flock in the only way she can? What will happen to their budding love when he learns the truth about her? I absolutely loved this book, reading it in one day. Ms. Ridley gives us a glance into the next book in the series featuring Dahlia's best friend, Faith Digby and Simon's half brother, Lord Hawkridge. Hint: they have history. I have read a lot of Erica Ridley's offerings and have throughly enjoyed each and everyone.

Aristocrat—former aristocrat, now—runs boarding school for unfortunate girls. Early version of cop saves her and a new charge from a ruffian. He’s more interested in finding out who’s been pilfering from rich homes. . . you can guess where this is going.
Best scene: Dahlia and Heath “shaking hands.”
Though I like the main characters, as well done as all the others in this series, I’m not into this story the way I was with the previous two, plus the other I read out of order. It’s hard to pinpoint why I feel that way; perhaps the peripherals weren’t as interesting, though the boarding school certainly had its fun moments. Still worth the read, though.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

Sexy historical romance that pushed all the right buttons. An undoubtedly enjoyable read for fans of the genre.

I really enjoyed Dahlia and Simon's story!

Dehlia is running a school for girls to get them off the streets and to learn a profession. She is fighting off a man when Simon runs to her aid. Simon is a Bow Street runner and and on the hunt for a thief robbing the rich. What he doesn't know is that the thief is Dehlia, who is stealing to keep her home open. As they spend more time together and start to fall for each other, Dehlia is terrified of what Simon will do if he learns she is the thief. Can their love survive her deceit?

This was a great addition to the Rogues to Riches series and I can't wait to see what Ridley comes up with next!

Another must read in this Series. Erica's writing is such an enjoyable read. Her characters are strong, proud and principled men and woman.

Dahlia Grenville is the younger sister of the Camellia Grenville in Book 2, "Lord of Pleasure". Dahlia is dedicated, kind-hearted and determined to ensure that her home for girls in St Giles will prosper and the girls will be safe, warm and loved. She will even steal to pay the rent and buy food.

Simon Spaulding is an investigator for Bow Street. The most dedicated officer they have. He is has made it his life's work to protect the innocent and lock up the guilty. Simon is the half-brother of Lord Hawkridge, his younger and legitimate brother. Simon's mother was the late Lord Hawkridge's mistress. Both his father and mother were killed by a highwayman who was never caught. Simon works himself half to death, never taking time off to socialize with his fellow officers.

Then one night he witnesses a woman hitting a man over the head with a broom in St Giles rescuing a child from certain rape. Simon chases the culprit and locks him up. When he returns to the area he meets Dahlia, Headmistress of the St Giles School for Girls.

There is instant chemistry between the two. As a result, Simon realizes he can have a life and also do his job. He returns again and again to the school. The 24 girls love him and Dahlia might too.

The only thing that stands in their way is Dahlia's secret. Will it tear them apart or bring them closer together? Read this book to find out! It is worth the price!!

LORD OF NIGHT is the third of six books planned for release in the Rogues to Riches series. Each has a Cinderella theme with a unique twist.

I’ll admit it. I squee’d – out loud – when I saw that this one was available to start reading. I couldn’t get to my NetGalley account fast enough!

Erica Ridley never disappoints in delivering a story that will twist, turn, and convince that two hearts are meant for each other. How could the Bow Street Runner not fall for his own Robin Hood with curls?

This story was a little more quirky than most historical romances and probably not “historically accurate” for the times, but that’s okay in my opinion. The story couldn’t have been written any other way to get where they needed to go. Suspend your inner history Nazi and roll with it just once. You’ll enjoy it. I know I did.

I love this series. I am looking forward to continuing with this great group of friends and family.

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, through NetGalley, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I received a copy of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for for a fair review. Lord of the Night is the 3rd book in Erica Ridley’s Rogues to Riches series. This book could be read as a stand alone but i imagine that if you enjoy this one you will want to read the entire series. Lady Dahlia Grenville has established a girls school for orphans in the rookeries, she does not however have the funds to support it and so resorts to stealing objects from parties she attends to finance her school. Highly principled Bow Street runner Simon Spaulding has been charged with catching the Mayfair thief. It’s not an easy route for these two to find their HEA.
If you like your romances with lots of angst this is your book #LordOfTheKnight. #NetGalley

This one ended really quickly, I wanted so much more from this one. It was a great read. I really enjoyed the push and pull of the characters and what they believed to be true. The story can be read as a single story, as the previous books and characters only make a small appearance and their story lines are summed up really quickly.

I loved when Dahlia realized that losing her stance in Society meant losing a way to protect her girls. Way too often the authors write the women as 'independent' women, however they are pivoting on their father's money or Society's good grace, like you can't be independent if you have no social standing. I loved that she questioned how Society worked and how shallow so many of her contemporaries were, but at the same time realized that she needed society even though she knew it was flawed. In this she really reminded me of Mary from Downton Abbey.

Simon was seeking the Thief of Mayfair and he wasn't trying to see beyond saving the city and doing his job due to his past. His life was small and he didn't realize that living so small did him a greater injustice than having a life would have. He had tried so hard to not be like his father and even was jealous of his half brother and he never gave thought to how his half brother might have felt about him. From his point of view things should have been black and white but once he realized people were complex and feelings made things more so. It was so interesting to see how he bloomed from knowing Dahlia and the girls. How just a few small conversations made him really think and look forward to more than just doing his work, it even made his work life worth looking forward to.

Dahlia's mission was so sweet and I couldn't understand why more weren't trying to aide her. I loved her sister and her friends and I can't wait to see if we get more from them. I'm definitely getting the first few books in the series. I'm especially interested in seeing what happens to Faith.

I really loved the back and forth between them and ho witty their conversations were together. I really enjoyed how the author made me feel like I as back with Downton Abbey especially with the story line of the chauffeur and the middle sister.

Love lost and found. Seeing the romance grow and almost lost again due to stubbornness makes you appreciate the journey they went through to get find happiness.

Two unlikely matches or so it seems. Appearances are not everything and the author does a delightful job is showing how Dahlia and Simon have more in common than not.

Surrounded by children Dahlia is delightful in her outlook on life and her love for these orphans. Her sense of humor adds a lot to this storyline as she practices it most often on the bewildered Simon making this reader laugh often at Simon. In a good way of course.

Poor Simon. He is so noble and wants so much to make a difference and help those less fortunate. His stiffness adds to this story as it plays into Dahlia's funness. His sense of honor is one of the key components in this storyline and it will intrigue as well as frustrate the reader.

I give this 4 STARS for portraying moral fiber in both characters.

This is the third book in this series by Erica Ridley. It’s the second that I read but they can all be read as a stand-alone. This one confirms that this author writes really entertaining books, that you can read with ease and pleasure.

I didn’t like the hero in the beginning due to his exceedingly strict morals and his view of life in black and white, in a simplistic and even intolerant way. Then he falls in love with a heroine who moves in a gray area: she’s on a mission to save orphan and abandoned girls and she will steal if she has to in order to keep them safe and feed.

Before the heroine entering his life, the hero lives only and obsessively for his work and doesn’t have friends or lovers. He doesn't know how to have fun and he even doesn't want to. He has a half-brother that he initially resents but they end up understanding each other. I loved the beginning of the relationship between the brothers.

When confronted with the love for the heroine who isn’t all good or all bad, all white or all black, that has principles but sometimes has to bend them, the hero ends up growing and developing into a more understanding and approachable man.

Overall, a pleasant, light reading. And I want to read the next book in the series to know what happens with the secondary characters of this one.

This is the third book in Erica's Rogues to Riches series, and it was just as wonderful as the first two books. It's got humor which I love in my romance books. Great story with entertaining characters. It can also be read as a stand alone which is also nice. I will be reading much more from this author! Highly recommended!
