DNF at 17%. It's highly likely that I will return to this book in the future, but sadly the first few chapters spent so much time vaguely rehashing the same (albeit wonderful) points that I could not subject myself to the length of this book at this time. Beautiful cover, wonderful information - just too dense and slow for my reading desires at this time.

This book spoke to me in so many ways. I was a psychology major for my undergrad and I have felt the calming effects of yoga. It made perfect sense to me that yoga would be a great way to calm anxieties and soothe the mind. I recommend this book for people who are interested in both psychology and yoga.

I fell in love with the cover of this book, so I'm glad the text did not disappoint. While there were areas where Ms. Caplan did not provide as much detail as I would have preferred, I found this a very good introduction on how to integrate yoga, neuroscience, somatics, and psychotherapy backed up by both personal stories and plenty of citations. There's a nice mix of lucid explanations and helpful practices.

I thought this book provided a particularly good description of trauma, the polyvagal theory, and how trauma is stored in the body. There's a lovely section where Ms. Caplan guides the reader on a tour of six levels of the nervous system through tree pose. Her Stages in the Yogic Journey is one of the best descriptions I have read of mindfulness meditation. I also really liked her suggestions for how to work with resistance and "saying yes to the no."

The author claims that yoga healed 90% of her severe autoimmune disorder, and I really would have loved to have learned a little more about that. Perhaps she will consider writing more about that in another book!

I definitely recommend this book for those interested in the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and yoga. I found the content easy to understand, even though the author has a PhD and writes for an educated audience. The book is intended to be helpful for both yoga teachers and students.

I requested and was provided an ARC through Net Galley that I volunteered to review. Because I have not seen the final published version, I cannot comment on the final editing and formatting, although the ARC I received was already in fairly good shape.

Very good opinion of the merging of psychology and yoga and how they compliment each other. The author uses her own experience as a example and examines how yoga makes our minds function on a level of relaxation and calmness to benefit our practice. She correlates how the continued practice of Yoga benefits the mind on many levels. I enjoyed reading this book and found it very useful.

Thank you for the ARC which did not influence my review or opinion.

The material here is laid out in a very structured and easy to follow style. I thoughouly enjoyed this book and learned much about the relationship between the east and the west.

This was an interesting read. The author used their own personal experience to highlight how they have found yoga helpful and influential to their life. They show how are own psychology can be used in conjunction with the exercise of doing yoga. An enjoyable read. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to review this book.

I was intrigued by the title (studied Psychology and Yoga) so thought I MUST check out this book. I was little disappointed, it's very much author's thoughts/notes, and not knowing about her I was not able to get into the material.

Great topic, but found the book to be uninteresting

I found this book to be extremely informative and explains the truth between yoga and spirituality. I could not write a review on Goodreads because it is not listed by title, author, or ISBN
